What's wrong with MC (110,682) by LambyMP from Usa

I can't help but think something is wrong with M. It's written on her face. She's acting so different. Still loving the new era. But somehow I feel like we are loving it more than she is. Am I wrong?

Oh gosh I didn't know Nick directed that. Well good job because I love every shot. I know he gets hate for the "Up out of my face" video because people say it looks like an ad for Target but I really enjoyed that video too. Matches the playful nature of the song.

She did have another one - My Love Don't Cost A Thing but what's hilarious is just a few years back she tried to start a "trend" to celebrate its anniversary where she wanted fans to recreate the part of the video where she keeps taking off stuff she's wearing one by one and walking away and only 1 person participated. Everyone else was like "I don't know her".

Mariah would quickly but sternly correct you to "It's Type Dangerous dahlin." I forgot to add in my list I also really enjoy the ABMB So So Def Remix (or was it called the Mr Dupri Remix) video. The black and white one with her wearing a beret that was used for the actual cover.

Mariah vs Marilyn (110,676) by Tijl from Belgium

In a way Mariah can be considered as the Marilyn Monroe of pop music:
- Fighting their way up coming from a dysfunctional background.
- Both have an inate sensiblity of how to reach out to their public by being authentic and pure.
- More than often considered as created by some "Svengali" strong man in the background despite a blatant and honest talent. Scrutinized and mocked as just a pretty girl with a strong man making it happen for them while in fact both women were steadily pulling the strings behind the curtain, very much aware of their impact on their fans.
- Strong of heart yet very sensitive and a profound will to be taken seriously. (Marilyn joined the Actor's Studio and founded her own production company. Mariah still has to explain she writes and produces her songs.)
- Both iconic and unique. Often imitated, never duplicated.
- Unfortunately Marilyn came to pass at a point when she was about to really come into bloom (the exact cause is forever a mystery and very much debatable). Mariah has hustled and fought and she is still standing but still deserves more respect.
- Both are forever.
In my humble opinion.

My favourites:
- "Honey": The song and video that made me a fan. I love the camp yet stylish approach, the storyline, her looks, dem Gucci heels. Although I have a preference for the BB remix video.
- "The Roof": No explanation needed.
- "I Still Believe": She never looked better. Mariah is at her best when she pays tribute to old Hollywood (her performance at the MTV Movie Awards with WBT... on a side note ).
- "It's Like That" and "We Belong Together": I love the story arc crossing over, fantastic production value and pow looks.
- "Up Out My Face": Her ability to take the mickey, starting off as dolls in a box. Underrated as a video and as a song.
- "#Beautiful" 2nd version: I love, love , love this song. Only Mariah can make dancing in a stable filled with chandeliers feel wholesome. She looks fan-bloody-tastic.
- "With You": Sensual and touching. Those shots of her in the white robe by the window...

"If You Had My Love" and "Waiting for Tonight" were pretty great videos, not gonna lie. I think it's absurd that Jennifer Lopez received the award before Mariah, but Lopez definitely has a couple of great videos. I will also cop to liking some of her songs even though I don't think she's a good singer and think Mariah is far more talented.

I'm sorry, this didn't meant to be a "I don't know her" moment, but when I think of artists with iconic music videos, what video of JLo is iconic? I remember her in a pink hat in the I'm Real video, her dancing with Diddy in one of his videos and then a brief flash of strobe lights in the On the Floor, aside from that they are generally all just the same formula of video from the early '00s.

The video for With You is really pretty but I think it would have fit the song Giving Me Life better. The video for With You should have been her performance at the 2018 VMA's in the gorgeous pink dress and the men dancing. (In my opinion, of course.) I would have loved if they would have made a MV of her performance of The Distance on the Tonight Show with the sparkly pink dress. They don't all need to be high budget. We just need something to document the moment. In HD.

I just came up with a video idea. Not saying it's award worthy or anything - just an idea. It's for Betcha 'Gon Know. They could hire an actress that looks like a young her. But a lot like her, like Blake Lively and Isabela Ferrer in It Ends With Us. So the younger actress could be acting out the scene in the song while Mariah does her glamour pose/singing scenes.

I know that album was ages ago, and this is not going to happen, but I come here because MC reality is suspended for me and I can share my dreams and creative visions freely.

This year the VMAs are on CBS making for a grand event to reach a wider audience. Anything can happen nowadays on network TV. The first 5 years of the VMAs was crazy because you never knew what was going to happen live on TV. Whatever happened was on everyone's lips the next day. Remember the very first VMAs in 1984 when Madonna performed Like A Virgin and rolled around on the floor in a wedding dress. That was iconic because no one is suppose to sing a song called Like A Virgin and roll around on the floor in wedding dress on live TV.
