Play This Song (111,814) by Bobby A from United States
It is interesting that Play This Song didn't take off on Urban AC radio. I wonder is it because the sound is too retro and similar to Leave The Door Open by Silk Sonic and a boring video. We have been there and done that already in the past five years. Anyone, NBC will repeat MC's and Anderson's Tonight Show performance this coming Thursday.

Madonna's Bed Time Stories new song (111,813) by T from USA
Madge just put out an unreleased song from the Bed Time Stories era that was funnily enough produced by Dallas Austin. She must be reading this board. So I went on his Instagram and he's busy producing for a lot of new up and comers and the music sounds good.

To be relaxed with a "magic brownie" means nothing and isn't a good idea. Real relaxation need no drugs. A coffee, a tea or a juice is a better and healthier thing. A glass of wine is also okay (not too often), but only if the person doesn't. take medecine. I don't want to see Mariah in Jamaica with weed. Free time, going to the nature is good to relax. Shopping isn't needed too.

It will be a hit (111,810) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I agree, "Nothing is Impossible" has the most potential for a hit from the album. It would suit perfect for the November/December mood.

Thoughts (111,809) by Bobby A from United States
I guess now all we have to look forward to is her annual "It's time" video. HFIA is probably done on the charts. HFIA just had too much of a waste hype period (AI term from an answer about why labels frown about social media song drops by artists) from two weeks after SS was released to the album released date. The waste hype period was too long without a Top 10 single like Obsessed. A third single like Obsessed ft. Bruno Mars is what HFIA needed after SS was released. Oh well, I feel MC17 won't take seven years to be released since MC knows now that her music still intrigues people.

More thoughts (111,808) by Dove from United States
I'm sorry about my outburst in my last post. I don't know what came over me. Even if everything had gone perfectly, I still don't think HFIA would have sold better than it did. I think those of us who are lifelong fans would have bought it even if she hadn't been on any TV shows. Everyone did everything right. They had her on all the right shows, her outfits were good, she looked beautiful, the album is solid. I don't know what you have to do to get a #1 hit these days. Do you guys really think Gamma is not happy with these numbers? I thought independent labels expected to sell less? Are the big labels doing better? I don't know what to think.

Caution's trajectory on the BB200 albums was 5, 40, 100. At this point, I don't think that would help either. Hopefully it will do better in Asia.

Thoughts (111,805) by Dove from United States
Oof. Maybe I'm just in a negative mood right now. I try to see the bright side of things but right now I can only see the negative.

Every time we saw Mariah these past few months she looked like she was not fully present. She looks tired and stiff. Like she's suffering with a medical condition. If she is, and she was transparent about it, maybe people who have more compassion. (Not everyone, some people are just assholes no matter the circumstance.)

To me the best song on HFIA is HFIA. That's the one I would have chosen for the radio. (I know I said before I wanted an upbeat song but I hadn't heard HFIA yet.)

If Sugar Sweet was chosen because it is easier to sing, she could still sing that one for promotional performances. It's still a new song. She could say she can only sing HFIA when she's having a good voice day. We would all understand that.

Music videos need to be more not boring. Glamour shots are nice but for 3 minutes? Plus, Mariah doesn't look real in her music videos. It's like getting a Barbie on a stand and shooting her from different angles. We all know you're hot Mariah. Might as well make AI ones with a video game version of her. It would probably be more fun to watch.

There are good songs on HFIA but I don't think any performance or appearances are going to help right now. Not even videos if they're boring. She's not the best promotional vehicle right now. The people who were going to buy the album already did.

What I think she should do is go to Jamaica (or somewhere humid and tropical where the climate will help her sound her best) with her friends for a few months, eat some cosmic brownies, and record a bunch of cover songs. Maybe that will inspire her to write some new songs.

They can take a bunch of videos and use that footage to make videos. When she's relaxed.

I don't use drugs and usually I don't endorse them but Mariah in Jamaica in 2015 was the most relaxed and vocally free I've ever seen her.

Here For It All (111,803) by Bobby A from United States
This is not good. Gamma may consider canceling the deluxe version. Deluxe versions became popular in the late 2000s when a 2nd or 3rd single was still strong on the radio and a label wanted to increase album sales by releasing the album again with 3-4 new songs or remixes. TEOM was a prime example of this type of marketing strategy.

You can send your ideas to @Mariahalerts, @TheGamma, and @LA_Reid on X. I sent a request to all three and MC asking them to get MC and The Clark Sisters on Good Morning America and Today Show next month for a performance of Jesus I Do.

Exactly. Having the music to listen over and over again is enough for me. Mariah's legacy is cemented in time. Nothing will change that. Nothing.

It will be a hit (111,799) by Tevin from USA
Whether a hit comes from HFIA or not, I'm happy with the body of work that Mariah has produced. I will say however that her best chance on getting a hit would be to release Nothing is Impossible as a single. Perform 3 or 4 stripped back performances on popular shows, simple outfit, piano, guitar and or string instruments, (she can even cut out most of the last set of belts and go right into the descending whistle, to make it easier on her voice).

Then she can do a few interviews about the meaning of the song and how she hopes it will inspire and relate to others. That's what people want, especially the younger generation, they want relatability. I've noticed that it may have not been everyone's number one song, but every reaction video or person that I spoke with in person, all said that NII hit them right in the heart and spoke to them.

This is also the time of year where most people are thinking about family, friends and goals, so a song like that would be perfect.

Her team can even pair it with AIWFC, where after that song plays, it starts playing NII. That would connect millions of people to that song that may not have heard it. Also, for any doubters, this is possible to do. With the fallout from Drake and Kendrick beef, it's been shown that Spotify and Apple and other platforms would play there songs back to back to boost streams.

I don't know if it would take Gamma a bunch of money to set that up, but with the millions of streams AIWFC gets every year, even if half of them tune in a couple times to NII, Mariah would definitely have a hit on her hands, and rightfully so.

Bobby A, anyone know how to get this idea to Mariah's team? Lol.

The problem with every lamb - HFIA charts (111,798) by Dove from United States
It's not that we don't want hits, who doesn't? If you have the number one album or song people want to know why it's number one and they'll go give it a listen. If you don't get hits and accolades, it doesn't mean the art is trash.

Mariah has gotten every award you can get already. She's already one of the greats. Releasing her music independently, she probably gets more of the profits from the sales. She's already rich. Someday her kids will revive her discography (in an era when it's profitable again) and people will hear these songs again.

I'm not saying she can't get another number one but maybe what she has to do to get one isn't worth it. Maybe she has to give up a bigger slice of the pie. I don't know. People still come to her shows. She's still popular.

Random thought: I need Mariah to jump on the [KPop Demon Hunters] train and do a parody with diamonds instead of gold. We know she has the vocal range.

The hits (111,796) by Edward from USA
I don't think it's that lambs don't care about hits, it's just that most of us don't want the experience of a great album to be overshadowed by chart obsession. I wanted quality music and an album vocally better than "Caution", well I got that beyond my expectations.

Mariah's fanbase, especially those of us who connected with her on a deeper, more personal level through songs like "Hero", "Outside", "Through the Rain" and "Andy's Theme", we're not teenagers anymore. We grew up with her music as the soundtrack of our lives. Sadly, most fans from that era jumped ship a long time ago, but some fans are in denial about that, but that's just part of time and life.

Of course, I would love to see Mariah score another hit, especially from an album like "HFIA", who wouldn't? But I'm not delusional either, the landscape has changed. When an artist whose songs I can barely name is debuting at #1 with 3M album sold, yes, that's Taylor Swift's "The Life of a Showgirl", it really puts things in perspective. At this stage, Mariah needs the general public on board for a hit, that kind of moment she experiences during the holidays when not even Taylor can compete. As loyal as we are, we're only a small part of the equation now.

I personally think that, while "Play this Song" is too safe and lacks a vocal punch moment, "Sugar Sweet", "In Your Feelings", and "Nothing Is Impossible" are solid single material. If Ariana had released them, the industry would be losing its mind. It's not only about quality at this point, it's about perception too, and that's something Mariah has battled her whole career. While Mariah keeps up her unapologetic diva act, Taylor keeps milking the whole Ms. Goody Two Shoes girl next door persona for what it's worth. If you give her an umbrella, she would be Mary Poppins with a boyfriend and huge rock on her finger.

Now let's talk about Christmas because that's the time when we all know Mariah reigns completely unchallenged and I'm perfectly fine with that. I can't wait to see her snatch that record again, this time solo. For now, I'm just soaking in this album. I bought it, I stream it, I share it with friends and relatives, that's what I can do as a true fan. Hoping for a hit won't make it happen, but I've done my part.

At the end of the day, when the charts have settled, great music and an unforgettable album is what's left. I do prefer that over quick hit.

The problem with every lamb - HFIA charts (111,795) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I don't expect chart success anymore. I'm very happy with the album. It has everything that was missing on "Caution". I also believe Mariah is wanting another number one or at least a hit. But that won't happen with "In your feelings" or other retro soul songs. I would be very surprised if I'm wrong. The charts are nowadays so bad. Gone are the days where the top ten had at least eight fantastic songs. If I should choose another number one (trendy but less quality) or real songs with instruments, real melody but not a hit, I would choose the second. I also believe all the people who bought the album digital or on CD are not the youngsters who "decide" who's on the charts. They were her long-time fans and grown-up music lovers who are happy that there is another Mariah Carey album, that really sounds like one. I enjoy the album so much.

Jesus I Do (111,794) by Webmaster Eric from the Netherlands
Not true. In the last 20 years, they had 7 hits. Here are the stats:
2007: "Blessed & Highly Favored (Live)" #1
2007: "Livin'" #2
2007: "You Brought the Sunshine (Live)" #11
2015: "Dance" (3 Winans Brothers featuring the Clark Sisters) #7
2017: "Hey Devil!" (CeCe Winans featuring the Clark Sisters) #22
2019: "Victory" #6
2020: "His Love" (featuring Snoop Dogg) #11
Is it so hard to do some research before making false claims?

The problem with every lamb - HFIA charts (111,792) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I couldn't have said it better because that's my thought process too. Do I think Mariah will get another #1 just by herself? Possibly not if I'm setting realistic expectation. Is it possible via a hot collaboration? Very possible. But lambs can't be blamed for expecting chart success when Mariah herself keeps reminding everyone about her #1s and like you said very recently Gamma talked about their joint ambition to surpass The Beatles. They didn't just make that statement without Mariah's approval. Which means she is as chart hungry as the lambs are.

Exactly. Outside of AIWFCIY, I'd be really surprised if a regular Mariah song reached number one ever again. I'd love it as much as the next fan, but let's be realistic. She's tried jumping on Ariana Grande songs and hopping on other popular singer's tracks here and there, and even resorted to having "Mr Beast" in her video. Did that do anything? No. And who cares? Y'all need to put down your phones and go listen to this wonderful album.
