My favorite Mariah music videos are: Fantasy Obsessed Honey Breakdown Anytime You Need A Friend Loverboy Dreamlover
I just watched a bunch, just to make sure I wasn't forgetting any. MC really does need to step it up with the videos. She needs to take advantage that she looks so good right now and make a bunch.

With You (110,663)
by Dove from United States
| |
|
|
The video for With You is really pretty but I think it would have fit the song Giving Me Life better. The video for With You should have been her performance at the 2018 VMA's in the gorgeous pink dress and the men dancing. (In my opinion, of course.) I would have loved if they would have made a MV of her performance of The Distance on the Tonight Show with the sparkly pink dress. They don't all need to be high budget. We just need something to document the moment. In HD.

The Bee Hive is insane when it comes to defending Beyoncé and while yes definitely they should step aside and let Mariah have her moment I will have to say, Beyoncé is a strong visual artist. Keep in mind she released 2 fully visuals albums with very high concept and high budget videos. With that being said why are they pissed? Didn't Beyoncé already get the video vanguard? If not it's not the end of the world she got a bunch of Grammy awards and all for what changing 2 words in songs.

Music video idea (110,661)
by Dove from United States
| |
|
|
I just came up with a video idea. Not saying it's award worthy or anything - just an idea. It's for Betcha 'Gon Know. They could hire an actress that looks like a young her. But a lot like her, like Blake Lively and Isabela Ferrer in It Ends With Us. So the younger actress could be acting out the scene in the song while Mariah does her glamour pose/singing scenes.
I know that album was ages ago, and this is not going to happen, but I come here because MC reality is suspended for me and I can share my dreams and creative visions freely.

Yup. Mariah literally sashayed into the Gamma board meeting, tossed her hair, and said this verbatim: "Can we have an MTV Video Music Award moment and a Grammy moment? Oh, and a Brazilian lambily moment? Maybe another TikTok viral moment? Please thank you darlings."

Video Vanguard (110,658)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
This year the VMAs are on CBS making for a grand event to reach a wider audience. Anything can happen nowadays on network TV. The first 5 years of the VMAs was crazy because you never knew what was going to happen live on TV. Whatever happened was on everyone's lips the next day. Remember the very first VMAs in 1984 when Madonna performed Like A Virgin and rolled around on the floor in a wedding dress. That was iconic because no one is suppose to sing a song called Like A Virgin and roll around on the floor in wedding dress on live TV.

I predict Gamma has a plan to give HFIA's promotional two week period after the VMAs a high profile media blitz. They are going to do something to focus on two major songs on the album. I was worried after Sugar Sweet didn't receive any promotion, but something tells me that two huge singles are on the way.

I think it's probably a deal they had with Gamma. Gamma wants Mariah everywhere and looks like they're investing in her a lot. So I wouldn't be surprised if they brokered a deal which a lot of artists do. She deserves credit for her videos though so I'm glad if Gamma made it happen.

Try it on me (110,655)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
MC was basically saying look at what I did by giving a short humorous phrase. If two ladies met up for lunch and both ladies had on a similar outfit, but one lady wore her dress with a slight variation. The lady might say, "Try this on me girl." MC was also poking fun at the media for instigating drama between her and Whitney.

When MC and Whitney did that "same dress" skit at that awards ceremony and Mariah said "try it on me" as she ripped her dress off to reveal a shorter one underneath, what does that phrase mean? I've never heard anyone ever say it before or since in any similar context, and Mariah seems to think it's one of the wittiest things she's ever said. I know I'm being dense, so can someone explain?

Mesmerized (110,649)
by Giovanni from USA
| |
|
|
Listened to "Mesmerized" on repeat today and Mariah is definitely the queen of testing her microphone. I love this song so much, it gives me Bee Gees and Michael Jackson vibes and Mariah's whistle at the end is legendary. If "Mesmerized" was released in the 70's it would have likely been a hit, same with the song "I feel it". If she was a singer in the 70's she would have been just as successful. Imagine Mariah singing "Love Hangover" from Diana Ross in the 70's. I loved her performance remix with "Heartbreaker" at Divas Live, it was great.

It’s tiiiime... to let the children know (110,644)
by Terna from Nigeria
| |
|
|
I watched this analysis a while back too and I agree with most of his points of view, especially when he pointed out that Mariah's voice was at its most powerful and free at the "Music Box" era. That was spot on, her voice was front and center with such a wow factor to it, concerts from that era and vocals she did on the records through to early '94 were just jaw dropping, at what a voice was capable of. However, I also think that this was the period where she damaged her instrument. That tour from 1993 created problems that manifested in her modal voice and her ability to sing comfortably inside her range and transition smoothly. I think Oleta Adams or was it Gladys Knight? When interviewed once and asked about Mariah, advised that she sings way too much outside her range, singing with a constant lift since her voice wasn't a textbook soprano voice (this is true) so to speak and she might suffer damage down the line, if she didn't limit the use of her ability to sing so high (This was even before The Emancipation Of Mimi. I wonder what she thinks of that one. Haha.)

Mariah on SNL (110,648)
by Mara from United States
| |
|
|
It would be so nice if Mariah hosted and performed on the SNL season premiere. It airs back live on October 4th literally the week of the HRIA release. I wish her team would get on that if she's up for it. She has been the musical guest 4 times but never hosted and I think she would be hysterical and could have fun with it. I don't know why she never was asked or maybe she was and turned it down? I just think she could be a great host as we know how funny she always was. I never understood why they never asked her around Christmas either. I'm just going to put it out there and hope for the powers that be can "Make It Happen".

Try it on me (110,646)
by Lambi from USA
| |
|
|
It seems like a catchphrase that stylists probably used when going all in on a look. When a look is pow after putting it on, Mariah will say, "Try it on me." as an expression of excitement. Kind of like saying "hell yeah". It does sound like an inside joke between her stylists though. Or maybe it's from a movie. Anyway it sounds hilarious to me, I can picture her stylist contemplating about a look and Mariah going, "B*tch try it on me..." just for laugh, on that same diva voice.

Article: Mariah Carey to receive Video Vanguard Award (110,643)

It's unbelievable that some of these other artists have received the award before Mariah even has, like Jennifer Lopez. I feel that MTV has never really gave her the respect over the years that she deserves, but better late than never, I guess. It's about time and well past being due.
