Re: The Netherlands (89,637) (89,683) by Musti from UK
Congratulation. Not sure how to say this without sounding like a hater but I thought the song was super predictable. My heart melted when Tamara hit the stage and she slayed everyone with that voice of hers. She really deserved to win. Big thumbs up to Italy as well. That song is hot.

Re: My most precious item (89,667) (89,682) by Musti from UK
Without a doubt mine is the promotional Mi Todo CD single with 5 tracks on it. I don't even like My All that much but that CD means everything to me. Thank you Eric for your amazing discography section. It helped me a lot back in the late 90s when I first started building my collection. Sadly I couldn't keep it up for long. That Mi Todo single alone had cost me... well, never mind the figure.

When it comes to my most precious item, I have to make it items because I refer to my collection of all her studio albums. Any other album can be gone but the studio ones cannot. Among these studio albums, my most precious is the Butterfly album.

Career over. Meanwhile she's still selling out all her shows as we speak. Such exaggerations.

Music Box cassette tape was my very first item of Mariah and it got played 2-3 times each day everyday until I purchased the Daydream cassette tape. Heavy rotation of all new items has become the theme lol.

I had the Unplugged Radio special from Canada in my collection. Sold it for a nice profit.

Re: If septic tanks could sing (89,668) (89,677) by enwar00 from usa
Haha I'm sure it's mostly just haters spreading negativity because that's the world we live in now. Meanwhile once again her performance is trending on YouTube with millions of views in less than a day. I guess Madonna learned a thing or two from Mariah, who's been dubbing her performances for decades. But once again it's ok when she does it. Not to mention all the fake ass artists out there today, but Madonna gets the most hate because she is older and won't give up and at the end of the day she is the most popular of all so I guess it would be expected.

My most precious item may be the Butterfly poster she autographed for me 20 years ago when I met her at a meet and greet. I haven't seen that thing in years though, it's stored somewhere. I think.

Re: First Mariah item (89,666) (89,675) by IheartMC from USA
My first item was the Music Box cassette and I was hooked at Dreamlover. Hero was and still is special to me. My dad's fave song was Hero and I sang it at his funeral. Mariah is and will always be a part of my family. She is like my big sister and I get into arguments and debates about her legacy. I protect it too lol I mean I have loved her early on. I will say although I started at Music Box, my fave song is "Can't let go" from Emotions. I listened to everything before that album and have followed her through the ups and downs. I am proud of her on Caution. I didn't think we could get another album after the debacle of "I don't and Stella" era. So glad she got rid of those snakes on the lawn and got back to her first love, music.

I have so many items I love it's hard to define one as the most precious. I love all the picture discs issued in the UK for her first album and its singles, and I love my Daydream vinyl and Unplugged Radio Special. I don't think many people have those.

First item / most precious item (89,673) by Stacey from USA
I first discovered MC after Hero was released. So I think my first CD bought was Music Box. I used to have a huge MC collection, mostly CDs. My most prized pieces were Butterfly (Brazil Meme mixes), Do You Know (DJ Greco mixes from Brazil), and Miss You Most (USA promo). At one point I had all the Christmas promo CDs. But life got in the way, had three kids, and sold my collection. Some of my items are listed in Eric's discography. Cheers.

Re: If septic tanks could sing (89,670) (89,672) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
Here in Norway all the biggest newspapers wrote about how awful her performance was. Eurovision is the most watched music show in the world, 200 million watches it, what a time to do the worst performance of your life. It can be compared to Mariah's New Years Eve performance, but I have a feeling Madonna had a worse the day after feeling.

New era (89,671) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
It might be a bit bold, but maybe the Caution era is about people gaining respect for Mariah again. They not necessarily like her music, all though everybody likes her Christmas music, but people don't show the usual hate.

I have a feeling people remember her as one of history's greatest singers, and they know she has broken records. So, people didn't buy her last record, but people who are interested in music somehow know her latest work was praised by critics. Maybe we can call the Caution era the "new found respect era".

All I want to say about this topic is that today I saw a picture with Madonna in our newspaper with the title: Zero points for Germany, but well we were better than Madonna. All were better. Lol I didn't read one positive thing about her "show". And I'm not suprised.

Re: If septic tanks could sing (89,661) (89,669) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I do agree with you, actually. I also have more hope for the legacy of Mariah. Her performance and especially the speech showed us that she does music not just for the money, but it's self motivated.

Madonna on the other hand, and without any help, is destroying her legacy. I have talked a bit about this with people I know who don't fancy either Madonna or Mariah, and they say you can age with your career in a classic way or the wrong way. The people I have talked about are amazed how desperatly Madonna has gotten, and how gracefully Mariah is protecting her legacy.

She uploaded an edited video of her performance on YouTube and is being dragged by her fans for adding insult to injury.

Bill I know what you mean. I discovered Mariah also by my own. It really made it special. So I'm sorry she's mine too. But I never thought if it until I read your post. It's really interesting to read how it all started and I think we as fans have a lot in common how our love for MC started.

The Daydream album/cassette. With this album everything started. My fandom for life. I still have it (the cassette) it's like a holy grail, I mean for music. When I first heard "Fantasy" on the radio I immediately bought the album. And I wanted to know everything about this beautiful woman and singer with a voice I never heard before. Later I realized that Mariah also sung "Without You". A song I loved back then on the radio when I was little.

Re: First Mariah item (89,660) (89,663) by Bill from the UK
Thanks so much everybody for the replies, I love reading this. The first album I got was Music Box on cassette. I felt like I already knew half the album because of Dreamlover, Hero, Without You and Never Forget You (WY's b-side). My room was being decorated so I was in my brother's room in a sleeping bag. I remember I had my headphones and walkman and listened to that tape over and over, reading the lyrics. I think she became so precious to me because she was the first singer I discovered without any outside influence. She was mine. She still is lol, I just let y'all borrow her.

The only thing Eric won was "Censor of the year". Les Pays-Bas, nuls points. For the Americans: Holland, GTFO.

Bro, I don't wanna hate on Madonna. I don't love her enough to criticise her deeply (some people here will never get me, although others do). You weren't a 90s child to me if you didn't love Take a Bow. You weren't a 90s child if you did not love the whole of Ray of Light. You were not excited at Madonna's rebirth in 2005 with Confessions if you didn't love her in the 90s. I love me some Madonna. I love Madonna. But I am bare faced with truth. At Mariah's worst, she still has music in her. Madonna was awful at Eurovision and it made me sad. She looks shocking. She sounds shocking. She appears desperate. Mariah went that way with I Don't and Stellagate. Mariah at the BBMAs, although not perfect, showed how someone becomes a legend. I was proud of her. Massively. Madonna stans will undoubtedly be worried today. Mariah did me proud at the BBMAs. I once worried for her legacy. I'm more hopeful now. A lifetime spent defending something may just turn out to be worth it.

Re: First Mariah item (89,648) (89,659) by Will from Australia
First item I had in my possession was the debut album which I borrowed from a girl in my street who let me look through her music collection. I almost died when I came across it because Mariah wasn't popular in Ireland back then (changed after Hero/Without You). I think the first purchase was Daydream, I can still remember rushing home to listen to it on headphones so nobody would disturb me.
