And that she's gonna put the work in for it to get better. I've always liked Monica she's got some great songs. A lot can be said for being honest and addressing any issues. In a world filled with fake news, dishonesty and uncertainty, honesty goes a long way and something people want. It would be nice for Mariah to do the same. Address the voice and be honest, has it just declined, is it due to health issues, medication or has she also had surgery and it made things worse. I don't for one minute think she would do this but I don't think she can also carry on this façade of miming for much longer either. I only say "alleged" because for all intents and purposes she chooses to enable him and does absolutely nothing to put her foot down. Thirsty Cannon is out here telling everybody that he's super dad and that he's the head of one big happy family because Mariah made him into the bastard father Abraham that he is today and she's also the live if his life and he'd marry her again (if there was no prenup). Is he wrong? Mariah is in a polyamories' relationship with 6 baby mamas. One of them is now going on record (several of the others already admitted as much on socials), dropping the pretense of why she jumped at the opportunity to have her child be biologically connected to Mariah's twins. As you can hear and see, she's not even really bothered that the sperm donor isn't around much (because of all the podcasts invites he gets) or is with the other 50-11 concubines - she's concerned that her son doesn't get to spend the holidays and one on one time with Roc and Roe who are incidentally always with Mariah. She generously offers to not be invited except at drop off or pick up. We all know I don't see it for thirsty and never will, but we are well past the point where Mariah isn't in on this dysfunction. MC is an enabler of this situational dysfunction. I love her to pieces but this is simply the objective truth. None of the people you mentioned wrote every song on their first album and continued to write and produce on subsequent albums. The industry has never given her the respect she deserves because they never bothered to look beneath the surface level journalistic takes written about her in the 90s and beyond. That's why the Craig Seymour interview from 1999 is so important and one of her best interviews. She's able to elaborate in detail about how critics created this overly simplistic racialist narrative about her (and honestly re-traumatize her in the process), claiming that she never did R&B/club-inspired records before the "Fantasy" remix or the "Butterfly" album and claiming that she was just a middle of the road adult contemporary artist. The reality is that "Emotions" was heavily influenced by R&B, soul, club, and gospel music. And even the stuff on the debut and "Music Box" was. I mean, did these people even listen to the albums?
