Wow really beautiful and classy. I love it. I get a little [Daydream] tour vibes with the outfit.

"I do miss that buttery and effortless tone she used to have." That's what I miss the most too. I've never heard a voice like Mariah's and never will again. That tone that makes you forget everything, really daydreaming while listening. A tone that goes deep into the soul. Luckily I can hear it over and over again on CD, mp3 and YouTube. But I would also like to know what happened? At least a little bit of it. But I understand why she [doesn't] do it or why she can't.

Is this an accurate commentary about MC and why she has lost her voice?

MC is really looking gorgeous in this picture out in L.A. A new promo is saying she is going to perform.

Always Be My Nodules (108,351) by Edward from USA
I think that's the reason why Mariah has probably never gone through with surgery to get those phuckers out. Her voice is literally her whole identity and legacy, and losing the whistle would be a huge blow, considering that's the last trick she has under her skirt. She may not always sound great, but the second she hits a whistle note, the crowd eats it up.

One thing we can say for sure though is that the whistle as we knew it is already gone. And even if surgery could help her overall voice, the recovery would mean strict vocal rehab and actual discipline, but that's not exactly one of Mariah's strengths. More than a whistle here and there, I do miss that buttery and effortless tone she used to have. When she could just sing without worrying about every note. That's what I miss the most.

Always Be My Nodules (108,350) by Jamie from UK
I just watched her video explaining. I think it's great she's being honest like some others that her vocals haven't been great and the reasons why. And that she's gonna put the work in for it to get better. I've always liked Monica she's got some great songs. A lot can be said for being honest and addressing any issues. In a world filled with fake news, dishonesty and uncertainty, honesty goes a long way and something people want. It would be nice for Mariah to do the same. Address the voice and be honest, has it just declined, is it due to health issues, medication or has she also had surgery and it made things worse. I don't for one minute think she would do this but I don't think she can also carry on this façade of miming for much longer either. I would love to have seen a younger Mariah singing at Sandringham Palace that would have been amazing. Imagine the composed Mariah of the Music Box or the Daydream era performing live in such a majestic setting. That's why I won't be going, which is sad but I've made peace with it and so grateful I saw her when I did.

Wow. I didn't know about Monica's vocal problems. I wondered why she sounded so bad on her song Trenches in 2020. She was dealing with vocal nodules back then, but hadn't received a diagnosis.

So, I'm doing some insomniac strolling through social media, and I see a video of Monica talking about why she has sounded a mess as of late. She had surgery and went back to singing and didn't listen to her doctor's instructions. I did some digging and found out she had surgery on her nodules. My jaw was as wide as Kelly Price's at Thanksgiving. Monica had been sounding awful according to clips I saw on Tik Tok and I just passed it off as maybe she wasn't as talented as I once thought. I even went so far as to declare the boy now belonging to Brandy. Monica is of little consequence to me because she was never vocally on MC, Celine or Whitney's level. But what this means for MC speaks volumes. Maybe she heard about the risk and was like "Nah, I'm good." What if they told her she could lose her whistle? That's part of her brand now. Although, side note, I'd rather the high chest belts more than the whistle. She uses that as a crutch to prove she still has "it". She now whistles more than a thousand gay tea kettles in London. But seriously, Monica was talking about a four month rehab and recovery. We all know discipline is the arch-nemesis of Mariah Carey. Even if she had the surgery, you think she would listen to instructions? I really want y'all to weigh in on this. Not you Kelly Price. I just can hear MC singing to her nodules, "You'll always be a part of me."

I understand. I know your perspective was speaking to all in general terms. No worries here BFF. The tone in my writing style comes off as overly sensitive. I try not to take things so personal, but it comes out at times in my posts. Plus, my dysgraphia has really shown up a lot in my posts during the past week from stress. I say the words in my mind, but I don't type them. So, all is good on this beautiful Friday. I got to take a step back this weekend and forget my job while on vacation. I understand now how MC felt on American Idol being in a toxic workplace.

Robert Anthony, I hope you know that my post was not directed against you but all of the people who have been so cruel to Mariah throughout the years. It really feels personal when people are so mean and disrespectful to her. I felt it when people made fun of made for loving her in childhood, adolescence and adulthood. You just wonder when people will embrace her for the truly great, international, boundary-breaking artist that she is.

Thank you, Randy. What is it about a pear, though? I come here to take my mind off my stressful job this year. I am just mentally drained teaching in this affluent school. It is not the students, but the so called professional adults and demanding parents that I work with. Sometimes my posts are result of how hard my day was and how much I can't wait until May 23rd to free myself from this school. I understand how MC felt when Virgin wouldn't let her alone during the promotion of Glitter. Anyway, I hope MC is showered with love and praise on March 17th when she receives her iHeart Radio recognition.

Robert grow a pair. You are the balance this board needs. Do not pay attention to whoever that said whatever. I haven't paid attention to her since she used to be popular. I used to say all the time we need you, Terna, jacker20 to balance the equation. My job, and when Andrew was here's job was to unbalance it. Anyway, to bring us to all back on point, I don't mind MC being last out of Mary, Madonna, Janet and Whitney. I mind the constant rejection, if it happens again. I could care less she married the Svengali that discovered her, that her live performances are as inconsistent as JLo's love life or that she'd rather appear a ditz obsessed with lighting than a living legend. MC is the best singer songwriter combination of all time. She has the record sales, lyrics, melodies and fans to prove it. This industry is biased against her and it shows. PS this is an industry that has given Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj MTVs Video Vanguard award before Paula Abdul, who hasn't received it. Think about that.

Is Mariah high-key the mother of 10 bonus kids and a passive (108,341) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
And that's excluding her alleged ex-husband. I only say "alleged" because for all intents and purposes she chooses to enable him and does absolutely nothing to put her foot down. Thirsty Cannon is out here telling everybody that he's super dad and that he's the head of one big happy family because Mariah made him into the bastard father Abraham that he is today and she's also the live if his life and he'd marry her again (if there was no prenup). Is he wrong? Mariah is in a polyamories' relationship with 6 baby mamas.

One of them is now going on record (several of the others already admitted as much on socials), dropping the pretense of why she jumped at the opportunity to have her child be biologically connected to Mariah's twins.

As you can hear and see, she's not even really bothered that the sperm donor isn't around much (because of all the podcasts invites he gets) or is with the other 50-11 concubines - she's concerned that her son doesn't get to spend the holidays and one on one time with Roc and Roe who are incidentally always with Mariah. She generously offers to not be invited except at drop off or pick up. We all know I don't see it for thirsty and never will, but we are well past the point where Mariah isn't in on this dysfunction. MC is an enabler of this situational dysfunction. I love her to pieces but this is simply the objective truth. This kind of twisted game doesn't sustain itself without legal adults disregarding every other sane or healthy alternative. It's pure insanity. I feel only for the children who are treated as nothing but pawns by these crazy gamers.

No worries, Robert Anthony. I just think that people underestimate the level of disrespect/venom that people have directed at Mariah over the years. It's been memory holed by a lot of people, and many think that a few retrospective positive reviews of "Daydream" or "Butterfly" somehow makes up for how poorly she was treated at times.

Mariah has collaborated with a diverse range of artists as well. She's recorded songs and sang live with Luther Vandross, Whitney Houston, Luciano Pavarotti, Boyz II Men, Aretha Franklin, Carole King, Babyface, ODB, Rick James, Eric Benet, Jay-Z, Willie Nelson, and the list goes on. I'm telling you, people disrespect Mariah out of spite for all of the reasons Randy and I elaborated upon in our posts.

I wish she would turn into Bianca, in terms, not to be polite to people who don't deserve that and telling what is exactly on her mind to people who are trying to ignore her or ridicule her for her behavior. She is always polite and politically correct, but I think she is old enough to just say "phack off".

I have been trying to think of one reason why MJB was inducted last year. MJB has collaborated with a diverse group of artists like U2, Elton John, Sting, Ray Charles, and George Michael. MC's career has been lacking in that area by no fault of her own. Timing and personal reasons just got in MC's way to collaborate with more diverse artists.

Are you kidding me? If it isn't her image, then it is her performances. She must be doing right if she is singing at King Charles' residence. You will never see MJB singing there or in China Mary was literally groveling to Taylor Swift.

I agree, Randy. And this whole thing started with the "white girl trying to sing black" BS that was used to undermine her. None of the people you mentioned wrote every song on their first album and continued to write and produce on subsequent albums. The industry has never given her the respect she deserves because they never bothered to look beneath the surface level journalistic takes written about her in the 90s and beyond. That's why the Craig Seymour interview from 1999 is so important and one of her best interviews. She's able to elaborate in detail about how critics created this overly simplistic racialist narrative about her (and honestly re-traumatize her in the process), claiming that she never did R&B/club-inspired records before the "Fantasy" remix or the "Butterfly" album and claiming that she was just a middle of the road adult contemporary artist. The reality is that "Emotions" was heavily influenced by R&B, soul, club, and gospel music. And even the stuff on the debut and "Music Box" was. I mean, did these people even listen to the albums?

MC commanding the stage is something that Tommy could have done to help [nurture] in MC. He could have easily hired a great performer like Quincy Jones to help MC with her stage presence. MC would have listened, but he wanted to keep her underneath a glass jar and not become too big of a performer. That is one thing that he could have done better for MC's career. Anyway, I hope she wins the nomination this time. MC needs a huge interview or philanthropic event right now to make the media talk about her to increase votes.

Randy, I 100 percent agree with [you]. However, Mary, Janet, Whitney and Madonna (Celine as well) all take their artistry seriously, which includes being respected performers/entertainers. They are all confident in their craft, put the work in and it shows in their performances. They present themselves as confident artists to be taken seriously in their interviews. They command respect on the stage whether you like their music or not. Mariah has never mastered the art of performing and always presents herself as insecure. While MC has the record sales, she does not have the same respect on the stage which is why it has taken so long for her to be added to the RRHF. MJB is not a great singer and is often off key, but she gives her all whenever she performs. MC has been on autopilot for many years now unfortunately.
