Mariah (99,624)

Um, gossiper's much? I get adoration and even critique of Mariah's talent. Even the hardships she faced getting to and during her stunning success. But just to start delving into things that have absolutely nothing to do with her singing or music is really annoying to me. I understand she's a human being, but some of you are really starting to treat her and her life with disrespect.

The thing is Nick and his acquaintances are all adults, they can make their own choices. It is however the children I feel sorry for, and it does also somewhat cheapen and weaken the union he had with Mariah.

Nick's sorted relationship history (99,622)
by Matty from Vancouver Canada

This [Nick] Cannon stuff is so layered. I agree it's interesting that the women post [baby] Golden need to take a hard look at their intentions. Let's also take a look at Nick's [dating] history. I mean we have Christina Milian (which seemed sincere and they were at the same level of fame at the time of their courtship), there was Nichol Scherzinger (same as Christina, they were level in fame and still are and now colleagues on the Masked Singer), [there] was Kim K, [he] was more famous than at the time, when she had her first face and was know only as Paris's [bestie], before the sex tape (full disclosure, I love Kim K, I'm stating facts). There was Chill from TLC who was his rebound from Mariah. And then [all] these models and [babies].
My personal believe is that because he's publicly struggled with a lot of health issues (lupus etc.), and you can see his health wear on him. It's almost a primal desire to spread his seed before he's not around. It's a dark view, but knowing some [people] who face their mortality have a similar need to secure their lineage. I do echoing that it's pathological, and I would suggest it's because of his thoughts about his own mortality.
I see a thick thread between the need for spreading his seed to why he feels he needs 10 jobs as once. I dunno how he can do it, and I truly don't understand why you'd want to do it. Why not focus on something meaning, instead of all the multi-task life. I dunno; X amount of jobs, and X amount of [babies] doesn't equal superiority or an exertion of masculinity, or acceptance or many needs.
Side note; I have always been team Mariah and Nick reuniting after [baby] four. I was over it.

I'm pretty sure they are all superficial and just like a "Barbie Doll" but clever enough to know they will get money for life by the celebrity clown Nick Cannon. They are all disgusting. I'm sorry for Mariah and Roc and Monroe. Rich kids, but when they get older, they will have a lot of questions and that won't be easy for them. I ask myself if this is a revenge from "Mr Cannon" or if he's really that dumb and careless.

That process can also be used for audio production as well. I believe that there is an MTV Unplugged audio CD, if I recall correctly that sounds studio polished and even got "I'll be there" released from it. Same process different facets.

I'm not saying Mariah never sung a wonderful performance live, she did, many many many times, but the bulk of official performances were definitely doctored. Let's not fool ourselves here.

Let's hope these mothers aren't nut cases. He promises financial support and that seems to be what the last few wanted. Again, why have a child and unprotected sex with a man that you know is not with you? Stupid IMO.

She doesn't lip-sync (99,612)
by Edward from USA

Dubbing, mixing or re-recording, is a post-production process used in filmmaking and video production in which additional or supplementary recordings are lip-synced and "mixed" with original production sound to create the finished product. (At Madisson Square Garden.)
Mariah is very well known for dubbing, mixing or re-recording all her video performances. To the point where she actually might have sung live at certain events, but then magically we have these perfect vocals that came out of nowhere. I've been to at least three of those video performances and can tell the differences, and no, they never took one whole take, they pick and patched the performance together, and sometimes very little of what was sung live that day.
I was present six row when she sang "With You I'm Born Again", and that performance I can say for sure it was 100% live, and she sung it three times, no to take necessarily the best parts, but because they wanted different camera angles to make the performance more interesting.
When Mariah performed the Star Spangle Banner at the Super Bowl, she would've gotten away with it being live, had she not lipped out of sync the the last word. It was so evident, and that gave her up. That performance was very quickly fixed and now we have it synched, but if you look closely, you can still see it.
So, the blindest person is that who doesn't want to see.

I'm sure he is promising to take care of the women and the children. He probably actually believes it But you just can't do it. You can't be present as a father. And the kids and the women suffer. Another generation with attachment struggles.
Best case a series of men step up as step dads, grandfathers, uncles and do what Nick can't. Let's hope those string men exist for each of these young people.

Sorry, but those clips you posted are not one take wonders. Don't get het up over it, there are plenty of amazing one take performances 1990-1995 you can choose. Just look at If It's Over at SNL/Grammy's, the Tattoo Club performances, even the raw and original Unplugged sounds good. Her TOTP performances in the early 90s were all live, as the show insisted upon it, and they were all great. I even love the entire-octave-lower Emotions performance where she was incredibly ill (as per her interview on Lorraine the following day). So yeh you're wrong but don't worry about it my love.

What are you saying sorry for? You didn't hit any point. Dubbed and pre-recorded are two different things. Dubbed refers to the music production and getting the recording up to par, for a professional sound where it can be released on a compilation record or for digital downloads. Pre-recorded leans more towards lip syncing. The clips I posted, Mariah is singing live and in one take (and if you cannot tell by now, you [sic] an OG Lamb oh well) which was my original point. The girl can sang [sic], especially live, in one take, if need be without rehearsal (Aretha Divas duet ) point blank period.

Or it's about dumb opportunistic women willing to drop a baby for a pension or something. I get the first two moms. One your wife with twins, the second a friend/gf having a baby five years after the twins with another baby 4 years after that. But why would the third mother deliberately have children with a man who publicly says he's not committed with no plans to be, but willing to have kids? And poor Zen's mother, knowing he is having his sixth, weeks before her own. This last one, with a baby on the way, really takes the cake. Just finalized divorce with no kids. Why sign on to bear an 8th child for a serial seed spreader? These last few mothers are more alarming as they knew they were signing up to be single mothers. The pill still exists and so does sexually transmitted diseases, but they seem to be waiting in line. He should have a vasectomy, but these women need to have more respect for their wombs as babies should not be meal tickets, or accessories.

Visually all the performances were great. Technically? Even I can't keep a straight face saying all those performances were live.
I like both Mariah and Celine for different reasons. Why does it always have to be a competition when discussing the two artists?

Mariah said in Faded "Always somewhere, but not there for me." She recognized that something was going on with Nick during their marriage that he couldn't stay at home and be a true husband. He has the papa was a rolling stone syndrome. He is probably bipolar as well.

Vanishing was written with Ben Margulies. So far, the only self-penned song of Mariah's is the Vulnerability interlude on Rainbow.

Maybe if he was an uncle to those kids. He will fall short as a father - you can't be present to so many similar aged children in different house holds.
Yes it's pathological - somewhere between mania and narcissism. How grandiose must you be to do this. It's about him not about any of the kids.

His 65th birthday party is going to be a huge family reunion with all of his grown kids and grandchildren. I wish that he would take some time and record a new album. His last album was a great party CD.

I feel for Mariah. His course of conduct is very troubling and indicative of a pathology. It creates an aura of uncertainty for her and her children that must be incredibly stressful and disconcerting. May God’s strength be with her and her children.

I think the reason she was never heavily advertised as a songwriter was because she wrote in collaboration with others on pretty much every song. Only [Vanishing] comes to mind for completely self penned. I think there's two kinds of song writers. The Carole King, Stevie Wonder, Alanis Moresette type who write all of their own songs in their entirety. And the other kind is Mariah, Janet, Madonna, Justin Timberlake, who write all their songs but only certain lyrics or lines in each song.
