Songs Mariah should cover (110,594)
by jaker20 from US

I wish Mariah had covered more of the male 80s soft rock, and turned it into an album. Without You, Open Arms, IWTKWLI were all a success for her.
She slayed that genre, and they were perfect for her voice back then. But that was the 90s, her voice has changed.
But she can still cover Foreigner, REO Speedwagon (In My Dreams), Air Supply (Lost In Love), that kind of stuff.

I would legitimately love to see Mariah step outside her comfort zone and do some alternative rock covers. We all know she has a secret rocker side that's waiting to be unleashed. I honestly thought that was going to happen when she and Courtney Love were photographed together with Lee Daniels 10 or so years ago.
I also legitimately would have loved for Aretha Franklin to do a song like Bjork's "Army of Me". That would have been cool to hear.

I believe what the Sun reported yesterday that MC is already thinking about her 17th album being a deep cut project. Somebody's Ugly Daughter is definitely a deep cut project. Maybe she will release it with The Rarities II (1997-2009) as a 3LP vinyl album.

It’s tiiiime... to let the children know (110,588)
by Lambi from USA

It's not too much. It's great that lambs are trying to relate and connect the dots. Bipolar disorder is Mariah's greatest demon, the one she's been battling almost her entire life. As her extended family, it's important for us to be educated about it so we can support her in that fight. Someone on her team could be reading these.

I like that many care for her, often it's well-intentioned. But sometimes it's just many here are projecting. It's too tooo too much.
She is already in constant microscrope. If it's not the breast just a few days ago, then the makeup, then the everything, then she's a zombie, and not herself. (I admit I do it too sometimes, it's contagious, so I often check myself, and this is my first and last on this topic.)
I feel all this focus on her being bipolar, and people diagnosing her like she's a patient, is actually adding more anxiety. And frankly pretty pointless, albeit "we have the right to post what we want". The negative is too much sometimes, that for some it's all they talk about. In the end, it is her life, she has a new "normal". She has her own baseline of what is normal.
She looked great in London, happy, cheerful, she seems to have high energy, walking on her own, interacting with fans, having a time of her life, and the last few concerts smashed. And yet look at the topics here. There is nothing wrong with her as far as I'm concerned.

The album release date for "Here for It All" (9/26/25) coincides with the 30th anniversary of the "Daydream" album release (9/26/95). I wonder if we will get a 30th anniversary edition of the "Daydream" album. Surely we will get something since Mariah has done something for "Music Box", "Butterfly", "Rainbow", and "The Emancipation of Mimi"? I know we got "Slipping Away" and "One Night" on "The Rarities" but perhaps there are more songs we do not know about (other than the Chick album).

I am bipolar myself, and used lithium for two years, but the side effects made me stop using it, it was not lack of energy or fatigue.
I have also a psychology degree, so I have first hand experience and academic merits.
There are a lot of different medication you can use as a bipolar, but the medications that affect your energy, libido, exuberance, and makes you a "living dead" is the antipsychotic drugs, like zyprexa (olanzapine) and others. Sometimes if you have had a severe relaps like a manic or depressed episode, you can get olanzapine as an injection, or you get another antipsychotic drug called zeplion as an injection. Those medications are administrated once a month, is a so called depot medication, they can have a devastating affect on your mood, happiness, energy, libido, hunger, and the joy of living. Those medication makes you completely flat emotionally, it can give you social anxiety and general anxiety, they keep you in a state where you are just alive, nothing cheers you up, and nothing brings you down, you are completely empty and dead inside, there's not an ounce of mojo what so ever. It's also very frustrating to be in that stat, because you have vivid memories about how you used to be happier, and that makes you even more sad.
I suspect Mariah is, or has, been on heavy medication since the death of her mother and sister, which have made her mojo disappear. Even after you have decreased the dosage or auto seponated the medication, it can take months for you to even have a happy thought occurring in your head, but you will get happy again. Using such medication is not a way to live, I have been there, and will never ever again be so dead inside because of medication again, then I will rather not take them.
I use orfiril which is a stabilizer that works perfectly for me with no side effects.
But be aware guys, after this period with our beloved Mariah be almost a living dead, she is too fatigued to even move around, expect a period from some time from now when she will be exuberant again, and maybe then she will go over the top at the other extreme. But then I think people in her life will keep her out of the public for a short period of time. Mariah was in a manic state at the infamous TRL moment. After her being so low as of recently, it might be expected for her to go up in the clouds as a counter effect in her brain, when chemistry in brain wants to maintain homeostasis again, the neurons releases neurotransmitters to balance the depressed state Mariah is in now. Then she will go overboard, but will retain balance a few weeks to a few months after that.
This is the life of a bipolar, I have written two books and a bunch of opinion articles about it Norwegian newspapers.
Just remember folks, the Mariah we all love is still there, she just have to flourish again.

I believe once we get to listen to HFIA in its entirety, we are going to learn a lot more about MC and what she has been going through the past seven years. The Clark Sisters collaboration, Jesus I Do, just may debut on the Hot 100 because of streaming alone once the word gets out how good it is. I couldn't keep the title to myself any longer. Sorry. September 1st is the countdown time until 09.26. MC still has a lot to say with or without Jermash's beat behind her voice. I am still disappointed JD won't have at least one song on HFIA.

I know enough to know it's really ill advised to drink copious amounts of alcohol whilst taking any bipolar medication, yet Mariah continues to do so. So her current bizarre state is likely down to her amplifying her symptoms and any medication side effects by drinking.

Regarding Mariah's bipolar condition, I have the utmost respect and understanding the burden this must be on her. Her life has not been a fairytale and she is a genuine fighter. That is exactly why I adore and love her. Her sensibility and wrought sensitivity is what makes her the eloquent and fantastic songwriter. I would love to be able to write down the effect as an inspiring personality she has had on me but is almost impossible. But let me try. A long time ago, I was waiting in a lounge - you know those intimidating posh hotel lobbies - for a job interview that was quite important for the future of my career. I was nervous, anxious, fiddling. Suddenly on the sound system there she was: "Hero" - which is not even my favourite song of hers - filling the room and covering me with a blanket of warmth and believe. Immediately I felt at ease and I finished one hell of an interview. I have so many of these moments where she is there, this guardian angel telling me "It is going to be okay." That is Mariah to me in a nutshell, always and everywhere. I bet many of us on here have had moments just as those. I am just worried about her as she does not seem to be in a good state of mind. I get Russian general vibes (remember that ghastly Stella era?). Wishing her all she deserves: a new number 1, success, love and peace. Just worried although I never met her she is in my heart and I hope to tell her one day the impact she had/has on my life.

Mariah has spoken about living with bipolar disorder, and the medication used to treat it can definitely change how someone comes across. The point of these meds is to stabilise moods, but they can also make a person calmer, more subdued, or less "high energy" than before. So if she doesn't always seem like the same Mariah we remember from the 90s, it's not that she's lost herself - it's that she's managing her health and choosing stability over the extreme ups and downs.
She might seem different at times, but that doesn't mean she isn't still the same person at her core. It simply shows how hard she's working to stay well and balanced. For many people with bipolar, treatment means accepting side effects like tiredness or difficulty concentrating in exchange for a safer, more stable life.
It's important to remember that a bipolar diagnosis doesn't take away someone's identity. They may need more structure and routine, and they might not live at the same extremes of mood and energy anymore, but that doesn't make them "less themselves". If anything, it shows incredible strength to fight for stability and hold on to a life that feels steady and safe.
This just reinforces the fact that she is still the same woman I love and admire, as this is the woman that wrote "There's a hero, if you look inside your heart. You don't have to be afraid of what you are."

I salute the effort made by Gamma and Team Mariah to attack one (non-American) territory full-on. • Capital's Summertime Ball had ~80,000 attendees ~80% 18-39 and MC has made 2 appearances on the radiostation in June and August with multiple clips shared on social media. The Capital FM hosts loved her both times and that translates/transfers to Capital FM's core demographic of 15-34 with 7.5 million weekly and ~1.1 million daily listeners (London ~235,000) - who will be more primed for her album come September. The whole show was broadcast live on YouTube and aired on ITV, the premier UK commercial tv station with a 15% market share. It's still on available on ITV's streaming platforms.
• Brighton Pride ~50,000 attendees ~70% in 18-39 (no official broadcasting channels). Made several headlines and news articles, multiple clips shared on socials
• Heritage Live at Sandringham Estate ~10,000 to 30,000 attendees ~50% in 18-39 (no official broadcasting channel). Made several headlines and news articles, multiple clips shared on socials
• Harper's Bazaar UK July Cover and interview inspired the times critique and discussion on Revolt TV and many other publications. Socials and forums obviously quoted too. The cover photo and shoot garnered a lot of positive feedback, exclusively so. A rarity for Mariah's press coverage. Should point to an uptick in sales of the physical magazine issue. (Was also heavily featured during her Selfridge's "Here For It All" in-person fan-event. More on that later down the list).
• Selfridges Presents: Mariah Carey. Their flagship department store (located in London on Oxford Street, which attracts more than 500,000 daily visitors) has daily visitors in the tens of thousands and many more thousands would have shown up because Mariah is so high profile. From watching the videos and clips from fan-cams it was obviously a very successful turnout. It bordered on pandemonium in spots. Not a surprise since it was open to the public who were encouraged to sign up for free audience tickets. Promoted and curated as a Q&A session hosted by Clara Amfo of BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge. Clara has unfortunately left BBC 1 Radio about 3 days ago, citing depression and burnout, after 8 years. (Goes to show, how you can never know what people are going they behind the scenes no matter how well put together they come off in public. We wish Clara well as she privately recovers.) BBC 1 Radio has ~1million daily listeners. The Selfridges even displayed Mariah's Harper's Bazaar UK magazine for easy pickup as part of her promo. Fans have even gotten her to personally sign their copies since it came out and some have bought it as a collectors item.
Honorable mentions: ° BBC Radio 1Xtra Breakfast Show - Nadia Jae ° BBC Radio 2 - Scott Mills Breakfast Show ° Capital FM's Breakfast Show with Sian Welby, Jordan North, and Chris Stark. ° Smooth Radio - Angie Greaves ° Hits Radio Breakfast Show with Fleur East and Will Best
Apologies if I missed any appearances or persons. I know that it was not intentional.
In any case. I just wanted to list and document MC's rather assertive presence in the UK this Summer. She's been very visible and accessible to fans and civilians alike. It hasn't gone overboard, so when the HFIA album promotion picks up in September, The UK market will have her fresh on their minds and still curious. Hopefully Gamma and Team Mariah have fostered enough good will with all of this effort both on radio and the larger UK populus for a nice album debut position. I hope they push the McCartney cover in the UK and Europe especially. MC's "Without You" is still a radio staple in Europe. Everybody loves her version and that's when she really became a star across the Atlantic. I was quite surprised at how mid the American audience received it in comparison to us. I thought it important to give Team Mariah some credit for what they've done right so far. It's not all doom and gloom.

It's funny you mentioned Cardi B because years ago lambs want them to collab and now with her not doing well, no one would even suggest that would be a good idea. I want Mariah to do the most unexpected collaborations, like an up and coming folk pop artist or an artist who is big in the Spanish speaking countries or in Asia. Something totally unexpected. Mariah is going to Brazil to shoot a video, hopefully these ideas reach her team. American pop music charts are no longer cool and the market has dried up, the best creatives are elsewhere, and that's where the money is.

Jaker for once we agree. People will love a song and then when it doesn't do well, it was a bad single choice. Mariah does it too. One of my favorite songs is Through The Rain and Mariah has bad talked that. Although during the promotional tour, she said it was an anthem. The same with Bye Bye, which I love. Mariah talks about how that was a bad single choice, but she promoted it everywhere. No one knows whether a song will be a hit because if they did, everyone would have number ones. I knew the first time I heard Type: Dangerous and Sugar Sweet they weren't hits. Cool songs. Not hits. Can I bring Adele up for the fifty million time? Why does only Adele understand that a heartfelt ballad as a lead single will go to number one because it reaches across generations and music delivery formats? I was disgusted to watch Hello make 25 go diamond and Easy on Me make 30 sell in the middle of a worldwide pandemic, and for as much as I love those two songs, I'm sitting by thinking, Mariah does ballads better than anyone. And yet she keeps churning out modern r&b. Final thought and it's still a repeat. I don't know what Mariah or Gamma thought releasing these songs so early on an album so short. Was there a plan B if the songs didn't work? Type Dangerous shoulda came out the last week of July and Sugar Sweet shoulda came out the last week of August for a September 26 release. But quiet as it's kept, I kinda think Cardi B is gonna struggle. The music audience is fickle. We will see. That's all.

Daydream anniversary (110,573)

The album release date for "Here for It All" (9/26/25) coincides with the 30th anniversary of the "Daydream" album release (9/26/95). I wonder if we will get a 30th anniversary edition of the "Daydream" album. Surely we will get something since Mariah has done something for "Music Box", "Butterfly", "Rainbow", and "The Emancipation of Mimi"? I know we got "Slipping Away" and "One Night" on "The Rarities" but perhaps there are more songs we do not know about (other than the Chick album).

That sounds horrible. I have no knowledge in medicine, so thanks for the info. All I know is, that it's always better to use as less medicine and chemistry as it's possible. So yes, you need a good doctor who you can trust. It's the same for us "normal people". To find a good one isn't easy. I hope Mariah isn't overworking again. Her latest traumas are indeed too much for one human. Poor Mariah.

This is the same exact medication Britney Spears takes. Another tidbit: lithium requires regular blood monitoring to stay within a safe range. Too little = ineffective. Too much = toxic. Lithium is also risky for diabetics. If the kidneys are already under stress from diabetes, lithium can increase the risk of kidney dysfunction or even failure. Mariah needs to actually pay attention to her dosage.
She probably had a breakdown around the time Pat and Alison passed. A legitimate mental collapse that's hard to navigate. The sadness in her eyes on St. Patrick's Day said it all.
Let's keep Mariah in our prayers, lambs. It really is the elephant in the room that she's suffering from serious, debilitating health issues. I pray she receives the wisdom to listen to her body. I also pray the Holy Spirit warns her if any doctors are suspicious. It's not hard for them to be paid off by elites.
Nonetheless, I'm elated she's still here, always working on something. She truly is doing the best with what she's got.

I don't buy it too. Yes, since 2001 mental problems got public. It was a sad time to have witnessed. The breakdown was everywhere in the press and media back then. But with "Charmbracelet" Mariah seemed recovered, her interviews were honest and very enjoyable. She looked healthy and fit with and without the sunglasses. But the latest interviews are hard to watch. Something seems a bit strange. I really wish Bryan Tanaka would still be there. He seemed to be a big "rock in the surf".

According to Mariah's own testimony she has been treating her bipolar since 2001, so no, I don't buy that her current presentation is simply down to her taking her medication and regulating her mood, sorry.

It’s tiiiime... to let the children know (110,570)

How much do you know about bipolar Bill? There is no "cure", no 100% effective treatment. Even with treatment you will still experience lows and highs. Behind the highs and lows is the sheer effort to function and that effort can be exhausting.
If you look at Mariah's presentation during an interview, I'd guess that she might be using a medication called lithium. Look it up and see the side effects. Sometimes the treatment is like finding a spider in your bathroom, so you set your house on fire to get rid of it.
Now imagine you are MC and all that comes with it.
