Charmbracelet to Caution vocals compared (113,442)
by Giovanni from USA
| |
|
|
I definitely think the meds have played a role in Mariah's voice decline as well as the drinking and lack of rest. I really wish she would ditch those meds honestly. I'm hoping she does something before the release of her next album. As I've said before her voice sounds way better on Caution than on Here For It All.

Charmbracelet to Caution vocals compared (113,441)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
Happy Friday everyone. I have a vocal decline theory. I think I have figured out what caused MC's vocal decline from Glitter to Caution. Before Charmbracelet, MC's voice could relatively bounce back from vocal fatigue after vocal rest. However, when she started taking her bipolar medication after the Glitter album was completed, this is when we could hear a dramatic change in her voice with each post Glitter album. Caution gave us the most dramatic and noticable change in her voice that we had seen prior to HFIA in 2025. In my opinion, it has to be the bipolar medication that has caused MC's vocal decline. Her speaking voice has been affected as well. You can definitely hear how MC's speaking voice is coarse and not as fluid at times like it was 20 years ago during the TEOM era. Can someone elaborate more with an analysis of my theory that her bipolar medication is the real catalyst that caused her vocal decline?

Amerie I Thing / Touch album (113,440)
by Giovanni from USA
| |
|
|
Amerie's "I thing" [sic] is still such a banger in 2026. It will forever be one of the best hits of 2005 and man 2005 was such a great year for albums and music. I remember buying Amerie's album and how much I enjoyed it. She definitely deserved that Grammy nomination but our girl Mimi took it. Touch is one of my favorite albums and Amerie is such an amazing talent and she deserved so much more success. If you listen to the song "Just like me" you can hear Mariah all over that song. We need to bring back 2005 and 2002 r&b again because music today is kind of boring. I'm really having high expectations for MC17.

I agree. I posted it before the first time I heard of this song when it was released. My All came into my mind first, and Toni's Spanish Guitar. After Tonight, yes, since it is another My All attempt for Rainbow. I love Risk It All.

I agree, I so want her to record this song lol. I think she could pull it off nicely. There's just something about MC and the Spanish guitar. We got a little taste again with Caution in "Giving me life".

So true. When I first heard Risk It All, it immediately made me think about how MC's buttery tone and alto voice shines through when she sings latin-influenced songs.

I don't know about any of you but this sounds like a song Mariah could sing today. It definitely would suit her current voice and I like it a lot. I think Bruno's new album is okay, nothing special. "I just might" has grown on me and I like it now but "Risk it all" reminds me so much of Mariah.

Can't let go / Prisoner (113,431)
by Giovanni from USA
| |
|
|
It's nice to see "Can't let go" get some love and wouldn't it be so cool if we made it go viral, stream it and get it to chart lol. Can a past song make it on Billboard? Definitely should have been a hit. Also I played "Prisoner" a couple of times. It definitely should have been another single and could have been another number one for MC. It's so 1990 and Mariah's vocals and rap verses are fire. I can't believe how young she was and was able to sound so amazing and write and produce at that age. I think the music video would have been MC walking around NYC at night. Anyways I will always love her 1990 curls and how shy she was. Definitely the best debut album out of any female artist. I absolutely love the album cover as well, one of her best.

Yup I still love SS and it could have been a hit. Mariah needs to start having more lyrics in her songs lol and stop making them so short. SS needed another Mariah verse but overall the production was good.

I often wish this song was Mariah's too lol. I think the production and lyrics are fire. A little too short for my taste by good nonetheless. I would love to hear Mimi sing a snippet like she did of "Cry baby" in 2018. I hope she really brings the production like she did with Caution for MC17.

No Tommy stole the thunder from "Can't let go". He was more concerned about album sales than hit songs. "Can't let go" should have definitely joined Mariah's list of number ones.

Where life begins Madonna (113,406)
by Giovanni from USA
| |
|
|
I appreciate your response and enjoy your posts but it is sad when legends get old. Their voices are a shadow of what they used to be. Beyonce is still young but even her voice doesn't exactly sound like Dangerously In Love Beyonce, it's so much deeper now. Second as they age they get closer to death which sucks. In my opinion 2009 Mariah would blow most of today's singers out of the water. Beyonce is the only singer who I can think of that posed a threat to Mariah vocally especially after 2013. I have a love hate relationship with Beyonce but there's no doubt she's really that girl when it comes to vocals and sheer power. Her Super Bowl Halftime show showed that and impressed me a lot. With that being said Mariah still holds the title for best female voice and nobody will ever top her. I'm glad she's still here but I don't want to get any older.

Where life begins Madonna (113,402)
by MusicfanJ from Germany
| |
|
|
I like some songs of Madonna. I've never been a fan, but I like her early hits and "Ray of light". "Frozen" was huge back then, it's my favourite. "Hung up" was fun too.
But I don't think it's sad that the legends are getting old. It's sad, if they die young, like Heath Ledger, Amy, the "Club 27". It's cool that Cher and Madonna are still here and doing their thing. Or look at Ringo Starr and Tom Jones. They are still "cool guys". As long as an "oldie" is fit and healthy, it's not sad at all. And to age naturally [doesn't] take away the charisma. I love Helen Mirren and Andie McDowell for the natural lifestyle. Mrs. Presley is spooky for me, I don't like "masks". That's a bit sad, if someone can't age. An old Robert Redford had still more charisma than all the youngsters. I miss him and his wonderful talent as an actor.

Where life begins Madonna (113,396)
by Giovanni from USA
| |
|
|
I'm a fan of Madonna, not a mega fan but a fan of some of her songs, and I often fantasize about "Where life begins" being Mariah's song instead haha. I know it's kind of explicit but who gives a damn Mariah is no angel and she's had some saucy lyrics herself. I love this song mainly because of the music it's very addictive and so 90's. Erotica was ahead of its time and Madonna is definitely a legend. I also miss her youthful appearance. She was very beautiful during the early 90's especially during the Bedtime Stories era. It's sad how so many music legends are getting old.

Diva persona / the voice (113,394)
by Giovanni from USA
| |
|
|
I don't mind the diva persona or attitude. I can see how some might not like it but it's never bothered me, what bothers me is the voice. I do admit I miss the Mariah who wasn't on meds and the Mariah who could belt strong and keep Beyonce in her place lol. I realize Mariah is 56 and past her prime and has nothing to prove. I just want her to sound decent on future albums. The nodules has gotten worse with age but I will no longer mention getting them removed because it's more easy for me to say. It's not my voice and being put under the knife would have me a little scared. I think rest and discipline is the only thing we can ask for at this point. I do want another album asap as I've been having Caution and Here For It All on a loop.

Jeses I do (113,376)
by Giovanni from USA

I love JID and it's one of the highlights of Here For It All for me. It's very well written and produced. I wish MC would at least be nominated for the Gospel category. I think she should work with Kirk Franklin and see what they can make together. A full length gospel album is long overdue, but sadly I don't think MC has the vocals for that unless she gets her voice back. I definitely think a gospel album would do well and help her career.

Anderson .Paak (113,366)
by Giovanni from USA
| |

I don't know if this is true but I read on Google that Mariah is back in the studio with Anderson and I wanna ask some of you how do you feel about it? I like "Play this song" and "In your feelings" but he failed to deliver a hit for her. "In your feelings" did good on the r&b chart despite it not being a single. Maybe Mariah can do something with Silk Sonic and she can perform with them if the song is a single. I wonder if Mariah likes them.

I think NII is one of the best songs Mariah has written in awhile and has become a favorite of mine. She tried her best to give us classic Mariah and I give her credit for trying. NII sounds like a song that was from Rainbow or MOAIA.

I think we all do, I hope Mariah's next record is the record [The art of letting go] was supposed to be. I think Mariah wants a record that will make noise and give her good reviews the way Caution did. I just hope she gets her voice in shape. She also should work with some current music producers.

90s and 2000s MC (113,358)
by Bobby A from United States

I really miss the carefree vibrant 90s and 2000s MC. I hope she can get back to making beautiful ballads and fun pop songs again. I miss hearing MC sing from her heart and not thinking about being a diva. Most of all, I miss her So So Def remixes and David Morales resung vocals club songs. 90s and 2000s MC come back come back, please. Dreamlover comes to my mind as I write this post.

MOAIA (113,363)
by Giovanni from USA

I agree, the release of Angels Advocate is long overdo. Also the close up photo of Mariah on Angels Advocate is gorgeous and so much better than MOAIA album photo. LA Reid is such an idiot for keeping "Imperfect" off the album. I hope Mariah out does herself with the next album, she needs a song like "Beautiful" or "Dreamlover". If Mariah released "Dreamlover" as her newest single off her new album it would be a hit today because it's such a good song. She really should work with everybody including Walter, does anybody agree/disagree?

MOAIA (113,352)
by jaker20 from US
| |

MOAIA just crossed 1B streams, beating a lot of her earlier albums, proving again that it's a modern gem.
I am convinced that if they released Angels Advocate, which is clearly done, would have been a perfect crossover era for her from digital to streaming, probably bigger than TEOM.
Her catalog right now is lacking a non-Christmas classic for the streaming era and Angels Advocate would have fit the bill.

I gave "Play this song" a listen and I'm back to liking it again lol. I remember someone calling it "overproduced junk" but I have to disagree. I think the production is actually good and the song reminds me so much of TEOM. I think it had been made during that era the song might have done better. I enjoy Anderson's verses and singing and him and Mariah have good chemistry. I believe he was into her more than she was of him. I believe Mariah wants love again but not at the moment. I think she wants to focus on other things like her kids and her career. I'm still listening to HFIA but want more and another Christmas album. I just finished repeating "When Christmas comes" as it's one of my favorite Mariah songs. Her voice sounds so perfect and youthful I wish MC was 40 again lol.

It looks rumors of MC and Rihanna in the studio last week are being confirmed on X. Nostradamus reported Jack Antonoff or Soundz and Kuk Harrell were in the studio as well. Something has clicked with MC that a high profile collaboration is her only way back to the top of the Hot 100. Also, Kuk Harrell knows how to make a female singers' vocals shine on a song. He has been Rihanna's vocal producer for 20 years.

Yes, I know MC has reflected upon her missteps with HFIA and now has a plan to give us a Mariah Carey album we have not heard since Daydream, Butterfly or TEOM. I just feel MC is getting ready to join the following legacy artists in the Grammy platinum album comeback club.
1. Steely Dan - Two Against Nature (2000) 2. Paul Simon - Graceland (1986) 3. D'Angelo - Black Messiah (2014) 4. Santana - Supernatural (1999) 5. Green Day - American Idiot (2004) 6. Loretta Lynn Van Lear Rose (2004)
