I still remember Maria from the UK. Loved her opinions here. And while writing this, I'm unsure if it was Maria.

If I'm not mistaken, they were called Mariah's 3: MCArchives, MariahDaily, and MariahHero. Eric probably remembers that better. [Webmaster: The third one was MariahConnection.]
MariahHero was the first to go, the webmaster got upset because Mariah toured but skipped his country. Back then, that site was a goldmine for MP3s and media.
Years later, MariahDaily shut down too. Their news section was amazing great, but their message board never took off because you couldn't speak freely or say anything remotely critical about Mariah, so it turned into a total snooze fest.
Then we had this site, which had the best discography archive, singles, international releases, everything. Eric eventually stopped updating once Mariah stop releasing physical singles. I don't remember all the details, but I recall Eric used to release a magazine-style collection of Mariah photos until he got hit with a cease and desist, and that was that.
MCArchives outlived them all because this board has always kept it real. Sure, we're a little dysfunctional at times, but there's always been a balance. Plenty of people have tried to turn this place into another "MariahDaily" echo chamber, but thankfully, they never succeeded. If it were for the "yass queens" or the oversensitive ones, we wouldn't be here.
What's kept this board great is that we've always been able to have different opinions. Back when fans first started noticing Mariah's voice changing, and many were deep in denial, there were basically two groups here: the UK Gang and the US Gang. Moderation was minimal, so blood was constantly spilled on the board. Some fans were so blinded by devotion that even when Mariah's boobs finally came out of the closet became they were impossible to hide, they still swore they were so big due to her wearing push-up bras. Eventually most of those fans came to their senses when those push up bras didn't seem to work for their own bosoms.
Those were the days.

How the hell am I just now hearing this song? I'm on Spotify streaming "Jesus I do" and this song follows up after a Lady Gaga song. I love it, Mariah did her thing.

After listening to HFIA today, I couldn't help but compare it to what Charmbracelet was for MC. Charmbracelet came after a traumatic period in MC's life and the passing of her father, Alfred Roy Carey. Charmbracelet was the precursor album to one of the biggest comeback albums of all time. HFIA is MC's Charmbracelet in 2025. TEOM II is coming in 2027. I just know it will happen.

Barrio Boyzz (111,926)
by Giovanni from USA

I wonder if the Barrio Boyzz had become more popular in the English market and been managed better would Mariah had worked with them. To me they deserved better and were the latino version of Boyz II Men. They have an album they recorded in '95 called How We Roll and it's one of my favorite r&b albums and in my opinion deserved a Grammy nomination. I could always hear them singing on "One sweet day" or "Thank God I found you". I wish they got their big break every artist or group gets to take off and be successful. I know Mariah would have liked their voices and r&b flavor. In another world they did and Mariah still has her Butterfly voice.

I really like this song even though I don't drink champagne I just wish it wasn't so short. It sounds more like a prelude than a song. The music and production sounds like something from 2009,in fact it sounds like something that would have fit perfectly on Lady Gaga's The Fame or The Fame Monster album.

I too have started collecting Mariah physicals again. I stopped CDs after MOAIA, but over time felt that streaming really don't have a connection with the artist.
Then started collecting vinyls. I got HFIA on CD and vinyl, but stream them when I'm out. I think Mariah's albums have actual value because they don't make millions of them anymore. I believe this happened in some stores with HFIA, because they released only as much as Caution because, I suspect, pre-orders were low. There's many reports that they can't find stocks, and ended up ordering on Amazon. That's another generational gap, fans of legacy acts don't pre-order, they buy them when they're at the stores or at the merch shop at their tour venues.

I remember when I first got online MariahDaily was still called "WildCat's Too Cool Mariah Carey Page" or something like that. Besides Mariah's official website there was this "official fansite" MariahCarey.org. And there were also Mariah.net, MariahOnline, MariahWorld (Aussie fansite if I was not mistaken), Mariah's Dairy, etc, and of course MCArchives. Gone are the good old days.

I think you're right about that. It would have shocked me if she released this album 20 years ago. I'm always thinking that she would gain so much respect if she just took a chance and made something that is totally different from her previous work. A new sound. Glitter was one of those albums I love because of that.

Maybe because it's not as good as her former work. That's pretty easy to see. The songs are nice. But there are no hits and if she would've released this instead of E=MC2 after the Mimi era people would've been shocked. Just go back and listen to how polished and expensive her past albums were, especially Glitter. Money doesn't make a good song, but it can make an average song sound good. I actually believe this is just a collection of songs that she put together in the last seven years until she had enough to justify an album release. It's funny because with Caution everyone said if other artists released those songs they would be massive hits, but nobody is saying that for any of the songs on HFIA. I also think she got tired of the question on when is she releasing. Rihanna just ignores it and refuses to put out something that is less than her previous work. Mariah is being managed by her former tour manager and a super fan who ran a website in the past. Nothing screams expensive except those diamonds she has pictured on the album cover. She was bored in the interviews. She's over it. I'm glad she finally has some MTV Moon Man for her shelf. The last thing for her really is the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

It's just crazy. I've known about this album for some years now, and never had a real listening session before tonight. Why on earth didn't it get released back then? Madame, as an example, play Without You on The Rarities. 1:38, the end of the first chorus is the album version of the vocal that she is lip synching. You can clearly hear the transition and change in vocal tone, and the added reverb to make it sound live.

There is more to those numbers. The album did drop to 187 on Hot 200, but on sales it's still in the top 10. This really goes to show how messed up and useless the charts currently are. It leans way too heavily towards streaming, which doesn't really benefit most artists' pocketbooks.
The keyword here is "sell". The charts are obscuring these details with "album equivalent units", because in reality, no one "sells" to profitability anymore in the same level that it used to, and that's a bad look for the industry.
So when someone says: "Mariah didn't even sell as much as Doja Cat", that need to correction. Mariah did actually "sell" more than Doja Cat, in the US and certainly globally. The charts just obscures it.
Equivalent sales unit will never equal sales, however the industry tries to convince us that it is. And as such, it will always be rigged against legacy artists.

I personally loved the album. It's far too quick from start to finish, but she put out a good body of work. I still enjoyed Caution more as I think she stepped outside her box a bit with some of the sounds, but still a good album. The problem is she can't sell it live anymore like before. That means something now for an actual vocalist. Her appearances have most been dismal because she just stands there and seems so uninterested. Obviously, could be a factor of things that contribute to it, but we have seen her at ease with performances in the First Vision up close. We have seen her flawlessly sing Emotions while moving all over the place on MTV. We have seen her confidence singing Fantasy at MSG. Finally, we have seen her usage of choreography with Breakdown and Heartbreaker. She doesn't give off the same vibe now. Of course, the big thing is, she just can't slay vocally like she used to, and it seems like she's getting worse at times. Artists of her age just don't sell like they used to and for all the "Lambs" supposedly out here, they don't seem to show up when they need to during a release. When Cher is moving better now than she did in her prime, people juxtapose that again someone like Mariah who literally looks like she doesn't want to be there. I feel the whole diva thing feeds into it as well, where people feel maybe she's too good now to give it her all during this time in her long career. I'm sure that far from the actual truth, but it think that's part of it. Emotions was playing at work today, people singing or humming along, then one person asked "Have you heard how she sounds by herself? I heard AIWFCIY without a backing track and she sounded terrible... and yet she is still famous. I don't get it." I was shocked that she even questioned her longevity as if she was JLo, acting at singing. It was very eye opening to hear what regular folks think about her now. I'm still happy she put out a decent album, but I'm not sure if she will ever have a bonafide massive hit ever again. Which saddens me.

She lists her managers on the liner notes on the new album as Michael Richardson (her former tour manager) and Liron (site administer/creator of Mariah Daily). Melissa from Caution is gone.

They chose Fantasy as the closing number. Brilliant. I really do hope Mariah would've walked out with the angels (models) though.

Daydream before it all (111,907)

Would it have been better or even more successful if Mariah would've released TEOM20 in April and then Daydream30 in October and saved HFIA album for the top of 2026? That way these celebration concerts wouldn't interfere. And either putting S.U.D. with Daydream or saving it for 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame after HFIA.

Madam, please. Bill hasn't transitioned. He's just using a pic of 90s Mariah.

Madame, seek help. The audacity of some of you lambs it too much to be believed. You speak as if you’re on the payroll and know the facts. No one has ever said she was lipsynching on the 1996 your - the 98 shows, sure.
