Oh Andrew. It is a snippet. Of course it wasn't recorded in one take. Lighten up. Must everything on here receive the cynical approach?

I've always known the long note in "Butterfly" was cut and paste to prolong the note. If you listen closely, you can hear it, it was obviously impossible to replicate that life or pretend she was even trying it in front of an audience. At Diana's Tribute she lipped the note as it was sung in the studio before they cut and pasted. It was easier doing that with Butterfly because there was a lot going on in the background in that song, but with "Lead The Way" the situation is different. With no distractions in the background, you can clearly hear Mariah's voice flowing along without any weird change in key or studio tweaking. You have to remember "Glitter" was supposed to be to Mariah what "The Bodyguard" was to Whitney, so Mariah went all out vocally in that album, especially in "Lead The Way". I do agree with you, the whistle note is perfectly placed, and the last note is out of this world. "Lead The Way" is simply epic.

If you think that is actually Mariah recording the vocals to LTW you probably think this is genuine, too.

I think it's a cut and paste job. Only because she was in such a bad voice during and after Rainbow. However I will day [sic] after the Glitter breakdown that voice came back full force and she totally could've done it. But then again the note isn't that high; it's just long and height in her full voice is what she lacked in 00 when the album was recorded. Hmmmm I don't know now lol. I could see Lead The Way coming between Heartbreaker and Bliss so I think your substitution is valid. Oh and btw I love Can't Take That Away.

The whistle from "Bringin' On The Heartbreak" and the long note from "Lead The Way" ending in a stratospheric high climax. Angelic.

How mad are you all going to be if it's Trey's new music and not her own? In all the albums she has ever done I've never seen an article mention Trey as a long time collaborator. I hope I'm wrong, but that's how I interpreted it. *shrugs*

Lead the Way (89,922)
by Andrew from London UK

LTW undoubtedly has one of the best placed and most beautiful whistle phrase in Mariah's catalogue. So I went back to listen to it. I think even more than Migrate, this should have been a single. If it were the second song and so for on Rainbow instead of Can't Take (the schmaltz? the crap video? the awful lyrics?) Away it would probably be known everywhere as a classic Mariah song. I wish more people could hear it.
But I have always wondered: is the last note sung in one go or is it a cut and paste job like Butterfly? There seems to be only one place in it where that could have been done. Does anyone have any insight?

One of my favourites is very niche: My All - Beijing, 2014. That last note is so unexpected but blends in really well. I'd love to have a better recording of it. YouTube only has two shaky videos.

What if Mariah and Trey do a full duets album? That could be really cool. Maybe a pop album that some are asking for.

Top favorite vocal tone eras (89,918)
by Bobby A from United States

I was listening to MC's SNL performance of Touch My Body today. I just love her tone this era. Although, her vocal range was showing some wear and tear, she still demonstrated excellent vocal tone and technique during this era. So my top two favorite vocal tone eras are E=MC2 and Charmbracelet. Her vocal techniques and range make me smile every time when I listen to Charmbracelet.

Recent testing on the virus suggests that a rigorous and aggressive treatment of what researchers are dubbing "whistle only" therapy, be administered nd they're attributing the therapy to famed singer Mariah Carey. Researchers believe that a lack of right-to-dream single enzymes may be the culprit. It is also noted that this virus seems to originate in The A, Anyone infected should immediately report to The Special K laboratory for treatment. It is also advised they refrain from engaging in unprotected Migrate-shouldv'e-been-a-single conversations.

I've been going through a tough time lately. Thanks for making me laugh. As I sit here attempting a whistle note and air only comes out. I agree they're pretty special. When used sparingly. On which of her 15 albums has she used it sparingly? Oh wait it's a constant from the Vocal Box. Wait that should be the name of her next album. Or would that diminish public knowledge that she's a songwriter?

The Distance (89,915)
by Brad from USA
| |
|

Hi All, hope everyone is well. I was just thinking that The Distance is really such a good summery bop and I am a bit nostalgic for those days of summer Mariah bops on the radio that defined the time and season. I wish we would go after those ageists in the music industry who retire an artist when they determine rather than when the artist so determines. We could all use a little Mariah anthem on the radio this summer. Enjoy and be well to others.

Randy was attacked by an extreme rare aggressive virus that has taken over his brain and made him metamorphise into Mr. Killjoy. Here in Cali Special K has been working vigorously on a liguid serum that will cure Randy before it's too late. I only have 72 hours to save Randy before it's too late.

Mariah should release a whistle album, it would be like super epic-epic. Randy, I heard there's a version of "Right to Dream" with whistles too. Wasn't the whistled version of "With You" burning the R&B charts? Oh, I think I need my meds again.

While I respect how you feel, I have to disagree with you that pop radio is not interested in female artists over 35 other than Beyoncé because they are not apart of the demographic that they are trying to reach. With You was a AC hit which is the audience that is more MC’s speed at this point in her career. Also Caution is more of an R&B album and the has done quite well on the R&B charts spending 5 weeks at #1. MC could easily work with the current chart chasers but she will only get backlash because it will look like she is trying to chase trends instead of being a trendsetter. I am happy MC decided to make music that she feels truly represents her instead making an album that feels forced or trying to be a Trap&B queen, when she is already hip-pop empress.

Dang Randy you couldn't just let us have this peaceful moment? Lord knows I hate to see the fan videos where they are trying to "prove" she's still got it, but it's nothing but whistles. I get what you're saying and I agree, but come on. Damn it Randy (shakes fist in the air like a old lady). Lol.
