There were so many amazing albums and songs up against each other that year including Daydream. They acknowledged her as having the biggest selling song of that year by having her open the show. That Girl - Mariah (101,028) by Terna from Nigeria Lauryn Hill once said the music industry and the machine that it is, made something she used to love turn into something she now loathes and hates - speaking on the creative freedom artists enjoy before the fame monster and industry rules stifles them. I always thought Mariah has gone through this as well, and the "Daydream" era was that turning point for her. Stumbling upon this, words are lacked. I was really young when that Grammy event happened, but now being grown up I fully understand what the intent was. This kind of experience changes someone permanently, negatively. And without a doubt in my mind, it changed her. Especially for someone who has struggled with biracial issues, insecure feelings and not ever fitting in, how do you pick yourself up and keep moving?. You can imagine the industry trying to make you a laughing stock at the Zenith of your career. Smh. They really do build you up to tear you down don't they?. By the time I became a Mariah fan, I could sense she already had this wall built up and persona like you could tell was a defense mechanism, always on "guard" so to speak (especially when being interviewed), and not being herself. So very different from the Mariah one sees in the "This is Mariah" Proctor's theatre DVD. In hind sight bowing out of the Pop music scene (yeah I consider "Daydream" a Pop record) was the best thing she ever did for herself and her career. (Wednesday 24 August 2022; 21:53)

The Butterfly Lounge (101,026) by Edward from USA What ever happened to the "Butterfly Lounge Project"? It seems as if it was abandoned or something. It's been 4 years since we had any proper music, and it was only a 10-track album. She hasn't toured or had any shows since the pandemic so she should've put something out already. I can't believe all we'll get is the same Christmas stuff plus maybe some hyped up mediocre song with a video of Marian touching herself in the snow. We need at least "The Rarities 2" ASAP. Re: Mariah and Luis duet (101,023) (101,024) by Bill from the UK Yes, the entire Rainbow album is recorded and mastered incredibly poorly. I don't think the poor sound quality is to do with the duet itself being scrapped, more just a terrible transfer from the master tape. It really needs to be remastered, unless the problem stems from the recording itself. The facility she used in Capri was primitive compared to the US Sony studios she recorded in beforehand. Also, perhaps the rush to get the album out and Mariah off the label contributed to a "it's good enough" approach. Either way it's shocking how terrible the album sounds. After Tonight is the worst track but there are others with flaws all the way through. Sometimes I curse my hi-fi set up and listen to the album on Spotify where you can't notice any of the problems. Luis didn't like the final product and because the album was being recorded in such a short period of time, Marian went with solo version. (Tuesday 23 August 2022; 04:30)

I would have loved to be a fly in the wall to see Luis Miguel confronted David Foster about the auto tune and flat out cancel the duet. I also think they when that idea fizzled out it was the same song Mariah asked Toni to duet on Rainbow and Toni ending up having to turn her down as it was during her label issues with Arista. From Luis Miguel's TV series on his life, he was having vocal issues when recording the duet. The song didn't really seem suitable for his voice (per the show he was also drinking during the session which is death to the chords). Mariah told him he sounded flat, which sent him into a tailspin. Mariah and David Foster were talking in the booth, it's assumed they discussed using auto tune to "fix" the flaws. When Luis heard the final product he noticed and laid into David Foster (who is a very arrogant producer). Years later Luis released the duet and replaced Mariah with Celine. The shade. Like others have already said, she is looking for non-music revenue streams because her voice is shot and any new music she records will be virtually unlistenable or heavily reliant on pro-tools. It fits into the pattern of endorsement/business deals like "Mariah's Cookies" (if you look this up, the reviews for it are absolutely terrible), the "Mariah Menu" at McDonalds, the perfume, Hostel World, et cetera. There was a glimmer of hope for her music career in 2013 when "#Beautiful" came out and maybe again with "Caution" in 2018, but these just seem to be minor successes in a pattern of steady decline that really started with "E=MC2". The Vegas residencies were an opportunity for her to develop some needed discipline around performing, but that obviously came to an abrupt end. (Monday 22 August 2022; 17:23)
