I would also love a fun dance/disco album for the summer in the future. After that the jazz album.

Re: So, Taylor Swift has a new song (89,381) (89,385) by MusicfanJ from Germany
That's true Nikki with the pushing of an artist and everything. But a management can push a song or an album as much as they want. If the quality is not good, normally it won't be successful very long. A song can be very successful without a lot of promotion if it has something the people want to hear. I'm 100 % sure that "One Sweet Day" would have been a number one with or without promotion for example. The same with "My All" and so on. I think what is most important is the right time and even some luck. At the right time to release good music will always be appreciate by a lot of people.

Re: (89,377) (89,384) by Dove from United States
I agree. A third Christmas album would be great to keep the momentum going and a fun dance album of original music in the summer. Andrew you should be her manager.

Valentine's Day (89,383) by Dove from United States
It would be amazing if Mariah released an album of classic songs on Valentine's Day and called the album "Valentine's Day". I know she had the small compilation "Valentines" but that's not even in production anymore. I know these songs have been covered by dozens of artists already but I would love to hear them sung by The Songbird Supreme with a full orchestra done in a classic and timeless way.

These songs are already written so she would just need to get a good producer and travel somewhere tropical to record them:

Young at Heart
Embraceable You
What a Wonderful World
Somewhere Over the Rainbow
My Funny Valentine
Unforgettable
La Vie en Rose
When I Fall In Love
I'll Be There (Bobby Darin) (apologies for strippers in the clip)
Smoke Gets in Your Eyes
Since I Don't Have You
As Time Goes By
Stardust
Blue Skies
Moon River
Summertime
Life is But a Dream (Dion)
Feeling Good
It's Magic (Sarah Vaughn)
Smile

It's all about the platform (89,382) by Nikki from usa
After a woman turns 40 she will no longer be backed by her label. They have to find another platform. Madonna had turned to touring and releasing albums almost as an excuse to go on tour. She's even offered tickets with her albums and still does the traditional promo on live TV and radio. Jennifer Lopez was over at 35. She went on American Idol to rebrand her image, has millions of viewers to watch her, and promotes her new music. She's used image and spotlight to keep many projects going at the same time. Then, she bought shares in music channel Fuse to decide what gets played. She also has a stake in the channel showing the dancing competition which is how she got that new judges position. That'll give her job security as long as she wants it. Celine turned into a Vegas act with an extravaganza. She uses it to push albums. Her performing game is on point and now she's taking it on the road while including albums into ticket sales. Mariah's posh deal ran out in 2013. She has no platform. She can't release things with just her lambs looking for her and be successful. She also can't be compared to performers. Touring will lose its appeal for her. MC's a content creator. She needs a new platform.

So, Taylor Swift has a new song (89,381) by Nikki from usa
Taylor Swift has a new song out and I'm guessing Mariah's "Beautiful" deal times a thousand. Every radio station did a world debut of it yesterday every hour. I only went to work and came home, yet heard it 9 times. I thought it was cute and catchy. It's very much a Taylor Swift song, but by the end of the day I was so sick of it. This is an example of an artist or song getting "pushed". When other artists are backed they're going to get airplay over someone who just releases things. You can't compare Mariah to Beyonce. Beyonce is still current and never left. Mariah dropped off after #Beautiful and never returned. She can't just drop a new joint and get airplay like a current artist, especially when current artists like Swift have this much backing to boot.

Re: Groan (89,375) (89,380) by Shezz from Pk
I was expecting Medelin to be better as well. What some people don't get is how popular Maluma is in the latin world and the pull and the following he has, along with several videos with over a billion views. Half the YouTube views from Medelin can be credited to him as well, though the views are much less than he usually gets. He is promoting the song as well and is not just a guest artist in it.

Re: MC's Caution is so boring right now to me (89,378) (89,379) by Bobby A from United States
I don't know why I was feeling that way about Caution yesterday. I was so sad yesterday that A No No has been overlooked by radio again and Beyonce is killing it again. I just wish she on my record label or I was her manager so that I could put her back at #1. You all know that I love Mariah. I will always be a Lamb. I am looking forward to the Billboard Awards this week. I take back what I wrote yesterday.

Re: (89,366) (89,377) by Andrew from London UK
Mariah would do well to follow up Caution with a new album quickly and keep some sort of momentum. I think a third Christmas album would be good - "M3rry Chrismtas" - followed up with a Summer record next year. Something fun and less morose and mundane than her latest release. But, to be honest, I am not sure where else she can go musically. She fails to embrace shifts in music and seems stuck in the past. I think a club/disco/party album would be great. A jazz album would be just another snoozefest ignored by the masses but pleasing only those lambs who requested it merely because that is all they think her vocally capable of producing. Mariah needs a new concept, a new direction, a new raison d'etre.

Just like Mariah, herself.

Re: Groan (89,349) (89,375) by B from USA
I think Medellin is boring. I've read several industry articles about how it's a flop on iTunes and Spotify. If Mariah had released Medellin I would've been severely disappointed and I would not waste my time defending it. Instead I would be praying that the rest of the album isn't as bad as the lead single. Madonna's fans support her, even when the material doesn't warrant it, unlike Mariah's fans who do not support her and complain about everything she does. To clarify, I don't hate Madonna I just haven't liked any of her albums since Confessions on a Dance Floor. By the way, I hated Triumphant and never defended it.

Why are you so obsessed with me? What have I said that is disingenuous, purposely manipulative, or intentionally untrue?

Re: (89,358) (89,372) by MusicfanJ from Germany
I understand what you mean with "street diva". But Mariah is clearly more diva than "street". That role playing seems to be fun for her. I don't know. For me Mariah is a classic diva, but a sweet one. I really do believe that inside her true self she's sometimes still "the Long Island girl".

Re: (89,360) (89,371) by MusicfanJ from Germany
"I'd love a jazz album or an album of standards or a stripped album with mostly piano guitar." Yes, I won't give up this dream. That album would be everything. She would "shine" with every song. Almost everybody can do a "modern" album today with all the computers. But to do a jazz record or piano one you need to be a real musician and have a "special voice". So it's perfect for the songbird supreme.

Re: Groan (89,349) (89,370) by Andrew from London UK
You've only just realised that everything Brandon says is disingenuous, purposely manipulative, often even intentionally untrue? This accounts for 98% of his messages lol. The other 2% is Bruno Mars and The Smeezingtons.

Re: (89,360) (89,367) by B from USA
Mariah's promotue [sic] performances at the Carlyle Jazz Club and several of her songs (The Wind, anyone?) prove she can do jazz. Mariah's versatility as an artist and a singer could easily allow her to
successfully crossover into any genre.

Re: (89,358) (89,366) by B from USA
Even if she is 52 when she releases her next album, she'll look half her age. However I, don't think we'll have to wait another 4 years for a new album.

The original or the remix (89,365) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
Personally I prefer the ISB (Pure Imagination remix). I prefer The Angel prelude to Angels Cry.
