I don't think that possible. He's missing the same sensitivity chip Jennifer Aniston said Brad Pitt is missing.

Looking for the negative in any situation has to be mentally and physically draining. Do you find it as exhausting as everyone else? Does putting others down make you feel better about yourself? Is your superiority complex a defense mechanism that compensates for your inferiority complex?

My earliest memories of Mariah: Standing in a huge open window belting out "beeeeeeeeee" as she subtly bounced her left leg back and forth each second she held the note. I adored all of her hand movements, and mannerisms.
My earliest mental picture of Mariah: That gorgeous huge mane of honey brown naturally curly hair, her very cute slender physique, and her wearing either a black leotard or a form fitting little black dress (made of the same material) while standing in front of one those vintage microphones

Cannes Film Festival (89,628)
by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway

Many here might be tired of all the gowns Mariah wears, but she is rarely on "worst dressed" lists anymore, and I actually think it's a very good look for her and age appropriate.
The gown she wore at the Cannes Film Festival was just absolutely amazing, she was shining. I think the Billboard Icon Award has done wonders for her confidence, she's nothing less than radiant.
I think the rendition of Vision of Love was beautiful at the end, never heard I that way, so classy.

Eric added the link for me into the message. Click on it and you will see TTEOT sung at the memorial. If you don't cry, you don't have a heart.

B, I agree with you for a change on the Lauryn Hill thing. What happened? My guess is that Lauryn Hill is often late so Mariah got to the studio two hours late and was told by Lauryn's people that Ms. Hill was going to out-tardy Ms. Carey and Mariah left in a glittery huff.

After hearing Vision of Love on the radio several times, I became intrigued. Then I saw the video, the high notes being sung, saw the curly hair, her ambiguous race, the beauty, and I instantly fell in love. Feels like I've stan'd Mariah my whole life. I'm still in love with "Caution" too.

I don't mean to be a nitpicker, but if you were exposed to Mariah by turning on MTV and seeing Fantasy, how are you an "MC lover since day one"?

One subject I would like Mariah to address is what went down in the studio with Lauryn Hill. I was beyond excited when it was announced they were doing a song together and then nothing.

When I became a fan (89,619)

Wow, suddenly this board got a positive vibe.
Honey was my first impression, but Divas Live 1998 was when I became a fan, still have the reccording on VHS.
I remember the commercials, VH1 advertized with Emotions, and I got goose bumps by the whistle tones. After the show, I was a die hard fan, and the rest is history.

Thanks for playing Andrew. I'm going to make a playlist of your list and imagine she's singing it live.
Rob King. He's really likeable and has that same light Martyn did. His vibrato reminds me a little of Andrea Bocelli. Did he really sing TTEOT?
Wow, I can't believe it's been two years. I looked Martyn up when you wrote about him last year and I missed him even though I never knew him. He seemed like such a happy person, and well loved. This video made me smile.

Carly Rae Jepsen's Dedicated is pop heaven (89,617)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines

It's sad when you have a hit such as Call Me Maybe make it so big that it pretty much overshadows your entire career even when you have so much better material under your belt. Carly's Emotion was the best pop album of 2015, and her new release this year seems destined to be revered just the same. She really knows her way around a great pop hook.
Check out (my faves) Everything He Needs, which brilliantly reworks one of the tracks off Popeye The Movie of all possible songs, and Automatically In Love, which according to Carly, is Mariah-inspired, which is quite clear why with its delicious feel-good 90s vibe.

Unplugged V2 (89,616)
by Jeff from USA

The dynamic relationship between Mariah and her background singers is phenomenal. They clearly support her and understand what she can do musically, even on a rough day. I would love to see that relationship play out in an "Unplugged" setting. Watching them interact with her during live performances always makes me smile. If you want an example, check out this performance. The smiles on their faces when MC flawlessly nails the ending is priceless.

New start (89,615)
by Jeff from USA

I was raised in an extremely conservative religious environment, so until the age of 15, I was not exposed to music outside of "the church". One day, at 15 years old, I turned on MTV and heard THE VOICE. I was watching the video for Fantasy and fell in love. I saved my money, bought a CD player, and purchased my first CD ever: Daydream. I've been a lamb ever since.

My very first memory was not a very strong one. I just have flashes of the Someday video. We didn't have MTV until 1992-1993. First major memory of listening to and seeing Mariah was the Hero video.

My brother was watching the MTV chart countdown and Dreamlover came on. Having only been exposed to Disney records and dance pop and school hymns by that point in my life (9 years old), I had never heard anyone sing like Mariah before. Remember youngsters, no one embellished every turn of phrase with melisma back then, Mariah popularised it. I was just amazed at her voice and her beautiful look. The curly hair, dancing in the field. At that moment, life changed.

Nice one Joachim. My very first memory was the black and white video of Mariah in Love Takes Time. Immediately, I fell in love with her voice, music, and artistry. Because of her, I stalked Billboard chart every week and enjoyed seeing her on top of the charts. Today, I simply enjoy her music.
