I remember being on holiday in Sorrento with my parents, our hotel was about 30 minutes walk from town centre so every morning we'd set off, I'd put my headphones on and listen to E=MC2. Whenever I hear it now I still feel that summer vibe.

Re: Evergreens (93,098) (93,099) by Bill from the UK
It's a different story in the UK. At best, adult contemporary stations will play Hero, I'll Be There and Without You. Maybe Endless Love every five years. That's it. Then AIWFCIY gets played everywhere all December long. So I guess it balances out.

I live in LA and constantly hear Mariah played in various places around the city all year long. It actually surprises me to hear her songs played so frequently. It's mostly stuff from Emotions, Daydream and Music Box, but it's played. It's justy experience, of course.

Hilarious. MOAIA defined as the walk of shame home.

So, listening to the album now due to the talk about it, and I've remembered why I don't play it that much. JD. Never. Shuts. Up.

Haha. I think it's the usage of the word "Chick". But I'm That Chick(en Leg) is a great re-title. Up there with Crapfinity. I'm a big MJ fan as well, so on paper it should work, but the weak lyrics, silly title and general embarrassment of it all is what causes me to dive for the skip button when it comes on. I think I made a playlist that axed it and replaced it with Heat and it flows much better.

I love your ranking. I'd just need Butterfly in there somewhere occasionally

Okay, I get why you hate Boy, but I'm That Chick(en Leg)? The sacrilege. How dare you? How very, very dare you?

Love the rankings for the different moods. Perfect description. Yes Caution for the next morning.

New music 2020 (93,091) by Bobby A from United States
I can tell music is taking a more of dance-oriented feel with self-empowerment and self-love lyrics this year with the release of Sza's and Justin Timberlake's The Other Side and Lady Gaga's Stupid Love this week. We are in for a fun filled Spring and Summer. It is so good music taking this direction, because with more cases of the Coronavirus happening people are going to be spending more time at home listening to music and watching TV.

Re: Evergreens (93,078) (93,090) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
It's not cool to like Mariah. And whereas it isn't exactly "cool" to like Whitney or Madonna songs, it's not *not* cool. This is a result of Mariah acting like a clown to be mimicked and mocked for the best part of 2 decades. Joe Public does not respect that.

As for Celine, she was only ever mainstream "cool" for about 4 years and then she went to Vegas. The divas, while similar are not really comparable.

That being said, I have tickets to see Celine in London this year. As uncool as it may be, I am psyched. I will have seen Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and Celine Dion. I can die happy. Any Celine fans wanna come with?

You know it's never been a go to album for me, but every time I do listen to it, I love every song. Except I'm That Chick, obviously.

Re: What career achievement makes you most proud? (93,080) (93,088) by Tijl from Belgium
Her management under Benny Medina and the guidance of L.A. Reid was the force behind her "comeback". That era is still one her best in videos, imagery and television. Her performances at the MTV Music Awards and the MTV Movie Awards were epic. I like E=MC2 as an album but the TEOM era was outstanding because it brought her back to the top of music's firmament.

Beautiful. There was never a need for her to ever dub her performances from the 90s.

E=MC2 is a much more fun listen. It really is dessert to the main course. I can't blame anyone who listens to it more because it's lighter and more enjoyable. TEOM is a more classic sounding set and strikes the perfect balance between retro soul and (then) current sounds.

I listen to 4 albums in succession according to the mood they evoke for me:

TEOM - The lavish dinner / early party.
E=MC2 - The fun and carefree main club event.
Caution - The late afterparty where things start to slow down / the sonification of midnight.
MOAIA - The sobering early hours of the morning leading up to daybreak where you get to deal with the hangover and start regretting everything stupid you did the night before.

When I'm in the mood for more of an 80s afterparty, I switch out Caution for Glitter. This is how I get festive on Mariah tunes.

Write it forward (93,085) by Norman from USA
I really wish Mariah would write or collab in writing songs for the following artists:
Jojo
Jennifer Hudson
Tori Kelly
Normani
Kelly Clarkson
Sam Smith
Jessie J
Kelly Rowland
Dinah Jane

I'm sure I'm forgetting others, but it's who popped into my right now. Anyone else you'd add to the list?

Absolutely. I find myself listening to Memoirs and Caution more than either of the two previously mentioned.

Yes. I mean I love them both. E=MC2 had such a party, fun and summery theme. So many wasted singles opportunities. Cruise Control, Side Effects and I'm That Chick are incredible. For The Record Is A Gem that has always been a go to for me. I love this album so much.

It isn't that I don't like TEOM maybe more that the album became so huge? E=MC2 is such a fun vibe I tend to play it more. Lol.

For me that would be "The Emancipation Of Mimi" 2005/2006. An era I experienced in real-time, being a new Lamb sorta. The way the stars aligned for that era was mind blowing, everything was perfect, Mariah was everywhere. Getting the CD from the record store, running home to listen to it in its entirety (I used the whole weekend lol). Playing "We Belong Together" for the first time and hearing that final minute - the sudden two octave leap, the sustain to infinity, haha and finding out the song had hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100. There are no words to describe that feeling. The sense of exoneration I felt when it was confirmed TEOM was the biggest selling record of 2005, that culminated with her winning 3 Grammys. Wow. This era I hold very dear to my heart. And I will never forget that time. Ever.

If I dressed like Lady Gaga at a Halloween party having got my hair cut in dim light by a one-eyed ketamine addict I would still look good.

Evergreens (93,078) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
When it comes to the divas, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Celine Dion and Mariah Carey, which songs will be evergreens?

I more often hear songs from Whitney Houston and Madonna at sporting events and tv programmes. I most seldom hear a Celine Dion song being played.

I'm afraid that most of Mariah's cataloge is now only listened to by her fans, and that the AIWFCIY is really the only evergreen Mariah has.

But what do you guys think, which songs of Mariah will be played 50 years from now?
