I don't like Last Kiss nor Migrate so I don't know what type of hot flush I'm having.

I think it's mainly because it was a milestone in her career, more than for the song itself.

Funny how Mariah thinks Touch My Body is a better song than Migrate. She must have been having one of William's hot flushes.

Err William, Last Kiss is literally the worst song on E=MC2. You think it's a better song than Cruise Control, Migrate, OOC, I'm That Chick, I Wish You Well? You must be having a hot flush.

That Access Hollywood post on IG where she bracketed her favorite songs. This should be the next tour. I love it that Forever and Lead the Way made it past the first round. So the tour would be 16 songs if I'm counting correctly.

Haha, well that's something. Last Kiss is the best song on E=MC2, I was so glad for the snippet she sang on IG. I wonder if she has anything planned for the debut's anniversary? It's right around the corner.

Migrate (93,837)
by CMC from NY,NY

Justice for Migrate. Now is the time. It's such a bizarre crazy time in the world right now, Mariah going number 1 with a (non Christmas) 12 year old song could totally happen. With no new music happening and E=MC2 already at #1 for over 48 hours now, she should do an official Migrate release. I'm sure there's conflicting record label issues but one can fantasize.

Which post "WBT" ballad is better? "I Stay in Love" or "You're Mine"? And then does it change if you add in "Angels Cry"?

Mariah vs ? on IG (93,834)

Hey there have been some great musical battles on IG. We had Babyface vs Teddy Riley, Jermaine Dupri vs Dallas Austin, and John P Kee vs Hezekiah Walker. If Mariah were to battle an artist on IG who would you guys pick? I say Janet Jackson or Toni Braxton.

I think it's a mixture of Mariah fans and casual fans who didn't buy the album during its original release. Millions of people right now have a lot of time on their hands and are bored spending time on iTunes. Those Mariah fans and casual fans probably noticed the album was discounted, listened to a few songs and decided to buy the album. Nobody is releasing new albums now. I can see how E=MC2 can hit number 1.

What lies? You invented those in your head. You skipped over dozens of articles stating E=MC2 is #1 and focused solely on Showbiz. We all see right through you dude. Meanwhile it's #1 in many Asian countries too now. Go MC.

Funny thing is Mariah celebrated the anniversary of TEOM yet she paid E=MC2 anniversary dust. Obviously something is happening, and it is good to see Mariah shining, and we should appreciate this moment for what it is and leave the negativity, conspiracies out of the equation.

I'm pretty sure the people in charge of iTunes, which was developed by Apple, are some of the smartest people in the world. Therefore, I highly doubt that this is a scam, and that some lamb got into the system and made E=MC2 number 1. Remember, she is the best selling female solo artist of all time. This is not so hard to believe, especially since the album is on sale.

Congratulation MC. That album definitily deserves more recognition. Like you've said it's perfect for the spring and summer. It's indeed an album very uplifting and fun. I hope it stays a while at number one. It has a lot of songs that are very enjoyable for "non-Mariah" listeners.

Anything Showbiz 411 has to say goes in one ear and out the other. This is supposedly a scam, so, people aren't allowed to reminisce and stream a past album that's enjoyable which happens to lead to chart success. Sometimes, I don't understand the way people think before they express it into nonsense. Mariah is one of the best selling artists of all time and derserves anything and everything that comes her way.

E=MC2 resurgence (93,822)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
| |
|
|
If this teaches us anything, it's that Mariah, despite having a core fanbase that has dwindled steadily throughout the years, somehow has managed to maintain a loyal fanbase that's more media-savvy in their approach of showing their support compared to fanbases of other legacy acts that dominated the 90's, such as Celine, Janet, Madonna and Toni. A search through YouTube would reveal more fan or critic content on Mariah's material than any of her 90's peers. Her US fans may not support her albums as much as the former 3 in terms of making a splash in first week sales (and a #1 debut is still a legit bragging right), but I'd much prefer Mariah's success to be of the viral type. She's the only star of her magnitude from that decade that I know of whose antics are, for better or worse, the most meme-able. More importantly, she's the only one whose social media fan movements actually translate into actual sales and chart success, and for her older, mostly forgotten albums for that matter - an even bigger achievement in a world where streaming is king.
Digital album sales, especially at this weird time where there are fewer new releases to compete with, may ultimately be insignificant in the grander scheme of things (to their credit, this is probably the only sensible one of the all the mind-numbing arguments pressed Madonna stans are making on comment sections on this news), but truthfully, any of those other artists I have mentioned would be lucky to have any of their past (and less popular) releases to just randomly find their way back to the top 10 of even just the iTunes albums chart off of any reason.
Most other legends only experience these types of sales boosts after a hugely popular tribute event or, well, after they die. For some, it may only cause a spike in sales of individual songs and not so much for full albums. But Mariah's enjoying this now (for 2 of her most overlooked releases) and regularly every Mariah season (aka Christmas). That's more than enough cause for celebration.
It's also a testament to the consistency of Mariah's output. Yes, she does have subpar releases, but the disparity in quality between her best and her worst isn't as glaringly obvious as that of other artists. I couldn't imagine this resurgence ever happening to any of Madonna's post-Music albums save for Confessions, any of Celine's post-2002 albums, any of Toni's efforts after The Heat, or any of Janet's pre-Control or 2006-2008 output.
Migrate or Cruise Control still should have been singles (probably waiting for a TikTok celeb to discover them), but E=MC2 is #1, so let's enjoy that while it lasts.
