Re: New a capella (88,114) (88,197) by B from USA
Mariah should've won the Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance for Mine Again. She should've also won Song and Record of the Year for We Belong To but that's besides the point, lol.

Gospel and Jazz album (88,195) by Lainsky from Philippines
Why not? I thought I am the only one or one of the many few who wished her to make a full gospel album. Since she's vocal somehow about her faith previously (Charmbracelet, TEOM, E=MC2) I even thought of an album title for her (Faith, Love,Hope or #FLH). However, I agree with Edward. At this point of her career and her voice, she can make ala Norah Jones jazz album or both in one album.

Caution World Tour (88,194) by Bobby A from United States
I have this feeling the DFW show will be on point and a breathtaking first show. She has been very quiet about what to expect on the Caution World Tour. So it has to shine Mimi-style. Lambs are you ready?

The most honest description of Mariah's career the last few years, but I like it.

Re: Gospel album (88,190) (88,192) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I totally agree. The whispery velvet voice Mariah also possesses, sounds great with jazz music. And the bit lower tone her voice is in now, but with tons of resonance, would have sound great in a climax of a song.

I really think it would have been a great career move, because then people will see she doesn't care about the charts or about money anymore, she does because of passion. I also think she would have garnered a different audience of adults who liked Mariah many years ago, but would think this is a welcoming change. I would sure be one of the first to buy it, I have been one of the last to buy Caution. I didn't even buy IAMTEC, but that is the only thing I miss from my Mariah collection.

Anyway, I really think Mariah should do a jazz album.

Agree, it should have been done around 1994 as Jesus Oh What a Wonderful Child and Joy to the World at St John the Divine are probably the closest things we'll get to "Churchriah".

Re: Gospel album (88,187) (88,190) by Edward from USA
I agree, Mariah could definitely pull a great Jazz album with laid back vocals a la Norah Jones. I think a Gospel album would've been great when she was in better shape vocally.

Re: Gospel album (88,187) (88,189) by MusicfanJ from Germany
A jazz album would be a dream. With musicians who are playing real instruments. I think of it since she did the jazzy intro of her band during the "Charmbracelet tour". (And I love "The wind".) The short version of "Don't explain" shows she's at least a little open for jazz. So a jazz-influenced album would be really something special.

I feel like I'm on the same wavelength as this board lately too. The other day when I posted that I knew the whole Jamaica concert, adlibs and all, I thought "stop trying to make fetch happen" as I clicked submit. Because I'd been talking about that concert in my last few posts. Then you (Bill) wrote that to B. Then yesterday when I read Chops message to B about being positive, I thought: "there are people called haters and we give them positivity" then B wrote it. Probably a coincidence but it feels magical.

Why would a gospel album break her? I think it should be a side project that's released digitally and not heavily promoted. Kind of like Tori Kelly's gospel album. It was just something extra to tide fans over until her real album was released. (At least I think I read that somewhere.)

Re: Gospel album (88,183) (88,187) by Bill from the UK
This is so weird. I was listening to my One Sweet Day single today with the remixes and was coming here to post about how great the acapellas and the Chucky's remix are. This is one of the few "real" acapellas Mariah has done (as in, with finger snaps and claps and harmonising vocals like true acapellas, as opposed to isolated vocals lifted from a studio recording). I think Mariah would be better suited to a laid back Norah Jones style jazz album vocally these days, as if she went full on Patti LaBelle for a gospel album it would probably kill her.

I never said it was. I said if A No No becomes a hit it could possibly help it reach a wider audience.

B, I won't say:

It must be the weed, it must be the E
Heard you get it poppin', you get it poppin'

Because "I Don't Know You".

I do really love all the positivity and fresh facts you bring to the board. By the way, I played "Caution" yesterday from beginning to end, and I loved it. "With You" ain't happening though, so don't over do it, please. A No No with Cardi B could definitely be something if it's well done.

Re: Gospel album (88,183) (88,184) by B from USA
If Mariah does record a gospel album I hope she works exclusively with James Poyser and Loris Holland. If she does half of the album should be covers of traditional hymns and the other half should be originals like My Saving Grace, Fly Like A Bird, and I Wish You Well. Tori Kelly just won a Grammy for Gospel Album of the Year.

I love that you showed One Sweet Day (Sweet A Cappella) some love.

I love gospel songs that speak directly to God. They're so uplifting. If MC ever does a gospel album it would be cool if she (and Boys ll Men) redid The Sweet Acapella version of One Sweet Day to make it into a song for God. They could keep some of the original parts and vocals but rewrite and re-record some new parts. So it would sound like a duet between their former and present selves. I like these parts:

I won't be afraid
I'll be alright if you help me
I know you're looking down from heaven

And I won't let you down
I'll be everything you taught me
And all that I know is I'll wait
Patiently to see you in heaven

Feeling, knowing you hear me, it keeps me alive, alive...

And I know you're shining down on me from heaven
and I know eventually we'll be together one sweet day

Although the sun will never shine the same
I'll always look to a brighter day
Yeah, Lord I know when I lay me down to sleep
you will always listen as I pray

One & Only featuring Twista which was originally produced for Twista and So Lonely both have hard hitting beats. Mariah has several songs with hard hitting beats like Side Effects featuring Jezzy.

Thanks, Chops. Some here despise me because of my positive outlook but I don't value their opinions. Like Mariah said, "There are people called haters and we give them positivity."

I was blasting Mariah Carey's first single today, "Delusions of Love", and then I played: "I Don't Wanna Chart", it was epic.

With You will slowly but surely become Mariah's 19th #1 and become Mariah's third consecutive Billboard Song of the Decade. Caution will be the biggest selling album of 2019 and the Caution world tour will break attendance records.

I wonder why Mariah shies away from hard beats. When I heard "Emotionless" from Drake, where he samples the Emotions intro, it got me wondering why she doesn't drop some beats like that.
Hip hop artists aren't known for being dancers, so why couldn't it work for Mariah? I love the Caution album, but I do wish some of the songs had more of an edge to them.
