Stop being so vicious Bill. Besides, he's too whiny lol. Let him write his own memoir, All I Want for Christmas is Credit.

I saw Dolly Parton and Bonnie Raitt fan fueling for Luzxo. Her performance was great. Billie Eilish winning the top three awards was ridiculous, IMO.

So you're laying down the foundation early for the defense when Mariah's autobiography turns out to be a white wash. You people are starting early this year. Now, she's going to be murdered. You are insane.
I would be interested in your evidence, and not hearsay, that Michael Jackson was murdered by industry executives. Please share it. If you don't share it everyone can rest safe in the knowledge that you're admitting you are full of shit. Post it please.

Interesting tracklisting. The album starts off sad, she's in a trapped situation and ends with I Am Free, which looks forward to Butterfly and her leaving that situation. Daydream.

During my collecting days, I got a hold of the debit album minus LTT. Seems it had gold lettering different than the debut we all know with the white and LTT added. Cool collectors item. That's for sure.

Ooh I love it, make me a mix tape. I love thinking of Looking In first, like she bout to tell a story (despite that not being the case). Reminds me of Cry. starting off MIAMTEC, which I thought was bold. I think the sequencing on the first handful songs on MIAMTEC was genius. Anywho back to Daydream, ending with I Am Free sound amazing. Def a completely different note and vibe. I would want Slipping Away to follow Daydream Interlude and precede Long Ago. I love Slipping Away. Burn me a copy, please and thank you.

I love Slipping Away. I can't believe this song didn't make it to the album. Honestly, everything about it is just so beautiful. Mariah has so much swag in this song.

Ariana / Lizzo (92,617)
by Bobby A from United States

Did anybody catch Ariana give Lizzo the rolling eye when she was giving her acceptance speech? But after Ariana's performance, Lizzo was giving a Ariana a standing ovation with so much praise. I hope it doesn't get back to Lizzo. Ariana has really grown as an artist, but it seems she doesn't sing well live all the time. That Thank You Next ending was a hot mess. What was she trying to do by making tempo slower?

Finneas won Producer of the Year at the Grammys. He probably could co-write and co-produce a gorgeous ballad with MC. Maybe she has her eye on Finneas for her new album.

The 2020s: a return to form? (92,615)
by John from USA
| |
|
|
The following are a hodge-podge of random thoughts and wishes for MC this new decade:
1. I hope she leads with an uptempo, but a return to classic ballads in her new album with emphasis on melodies and poetic verses and not rap-sung verses would be a welcome change.
2. Redefine/redirect music trends. Mariah seems to have resisted fads such as EDM, and proudly went her own way. This decade, I challenge her to get what's current, turn it around upon itself, and put her own stamp on it.
3. Get herself featured again other people's songs, and get people to get used to hearing her on the air (or more appropriately, on their playlists) more often. Maybe start with this?
4. That she continue to collaborate with new producers and push her creativity to the next level. She did in fact, pen two songs of the decade, and the most recent modern Christmas classic, after all.
5. That she sing mostly in full-voice. The current poor attention span generation does not respond well to whispery vocals. Full, in your face vocals please, or at least in the songs she ends up releasing as singles.
6. That she take better care of her voice. She was a natural singer before, and I feel as her voice deteriorated she had resorted to poor singing techniques, and had "forgotten" much of the techniques that came so naturally to her when she was younger. As controversial as this may sound: maybe consider even getting voice lessons? Yeah, I said it. Even some voice teachers have said a lot of her voice issues right now can be addressed to some extent by getting her to sing healthily again.

May he and his daughter rest in peace. Thinking of Kobe's death has made me reflect on how much of a blessing it is that we still have Mariah here with us. Idiosyncracies aside, I'm glad she has been able to be a part of our lives for decades.

Daydream shuffled (92,612)
by Bill from the UK
| |
|
|
I often play Mariah's albums in shuffle mode and see what track order is spat out. This re-ordering of Daydream I felt really worked.
It was quite jarring to open the album with Looking In, but then she does open tours with the instrumental from time to time. It then blended quite nicely into Fantasy. Daydream Interlude appeared in the middle and really helped to break the album up and divide it into two parts. Underneath the Stars sounded great as what I would call the album's closer, because the actual end of I Am Free felt more like some brilliant epilogue. It was such a different experience to end the album on a positive note. Also my Daydream is 13 tracks because obviously I have Slipping Away in there.
1. Looking In 2. Fantasy 3. One Sweet Day 4. Open Arms 5. Slipping Away 6. Always Be My Baby 7. Daydream Interlude 8. Long Ago 9. Forever 10. Melt Away 11. When I Saw You 12. Underneath the Stars 13. I Am Free

Aren't you being a little OTT especially since she opted to write this tell all. If she had any fears, why write it at all? She has many options including not writing a memoir, especially do early in her life. Hopefully she has a good co writer to help her make an interesting telling of her life this far.

Cathedral of St. John The Divine performance (92,608)

I noticed a while back, that the key she sings these songs in this live performance are a semitone (half step) lower than the original recordings. Would've never noticed if it wasn't for these darn piano lessons. Lol.

Hidden song - Love Take Time (92,607)
by Terna from Nigeria
| |
|
|
I just realized something about the mastering of her first album. It was reported how this song was the last to be recorded for the debut and the record was already even being mastered, but the executives really wanted this particular record on the debut and that some copies of the album sleeve didn't even have the song listed on the tracklist, but yet it was present on the record technically making it a hidden song. Did Mariah start this trend subconsciously? Lol. Because it became a thing years down the line especially in the late 90's and 2000's. Notable recordings "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" and Alicia Key's "Songs in A Minor" both having hidden songs to name a few. Check this list out. None predates 1990.

Chris Brown (92,605)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
Chris Brown has sold a 1 million copies of Indigo and Heartbreak On A Full Moon both. Is it because of them both having 32 and 45 tracks respectively? And because of extended versions of both released a few months after the original release? It seems the strategy worked in his favor. His previous album - 18 track album Royalty only sold 500,000 copies. Maybe MC should release her next album as a double album. It worked for Merry Christmas the Deluxe Anniversary Edition. I hope her team is really thinking how the last two months in 2019 was such positive press and chart exposure for MC.

I think I'd only remove Boy and I Only Wanted. BOTH would definitely have to be the single version with stronger vocals on the chorus. I'd also include Miss You. This is the best uptempo song from the CB era after You Got Me. I love it when she does an uptempo ballad. I can almost hear the tears in her voice on this song.

I was thinking about Mariahs memoir, she won't be able to share everything since "the powers to be" won't like that. For her own sake and dem kids. Just look at Michael Jackson case, he has been exposing the industry since forever and they killed him. He even told his family members how they were gonna kill him over and over again. They wanna erase him with this bullshit pedofile story. Mariah always says I can't say that or this. She is lowkey afraid for own life and it's the smart thing to do.
