Re: AYNAF unreleased video (93,199) (93,200)

Wow thanks for sharing. The way she looked in 94, like a real princess, so beautiful. I could watch her talking for hours. Lol. I wish we could see the whole video but the few scenes are also great. And then Fantasy-MC, that's the time [a] became a fan. So much beauty, so natural, that's the Mariah I love. Starpower 100%, the rollercoaster video is epic. If I think of all the unreleased stuff oh my, I want that all. I'm greedy if it comes to Mariah. Lol.

I think that's what happened. In the ET video she's complaining about her hair, the concept etc, so she probably did not like it. I hope she releases it someday for the fans. The AYNAF vídeo that we know is good and simple, maybe too simple and a bit boring. At least the original one looked more genuine by the few pictures we've seen.
PS: Can we say something about those few seconds of the AYNAF rehearsal? Simply wow.

Here are some rare pics from the ANYAF original video. She looks so good. By the way, follow @babyd.cll on Instagram. They have the most rare MC pics on the Internet.

Sp what actually happened? They filmed this video, shelved it and recorded the one we all know? It seems bizarre. Perhaps that's why Mariah was mocking the director. Maybe she hated it and told Tommy to start again.

"The video shows that MC always had that quirky sense of humour. People saying she has changed so much over the years are dead wrong."
You are denying Mariah has changed dramatically throughout the years because she cracks some jokes filming a video in 1994?
Nope.

She's released 2 great albums since Devotion. Jessie is pretty consistent with her output. Not too much experimentation, but she's great at what she does.

Nice. I would love to see see this video in full, but going just by this clip I'm kind of glad they scraped it. To me AYNAF is a simple song and the video that they decided to go with fits. The unreleased video seems like it would have been too extra. I still want to see it though.
I'm crossing my fingers that I'll eventually get that CD/DVD combo full of unreleased songs and videos. Come on team Mariah you finally gave us the St. John concert. Give us unreleased material. I'm waiting for you to take my money. Lol.

Wow, what an amazing find (exclamation mark). I had no idea there was a whole shelved video for AYNAF, this uncovered version looks so interesting. I agree, it'd be amazing to see it properly, and UTS of course. Thanks so much for sharing.

Love that. I wish Emotions would get airplay in the UK as it is probably her best vocal showcase ever. Because hearing Mariah on the radio is a bit of a novelty here, it is always special when one of her songs is played. I stay in the car to see what comment the DJ says afterwards, and I don't know why, but the songs always sound better and brighter on the radio. Must be that magic they add lol.

The potential (93,184)
by T from USA
| |
|
|
After reading the last few days of messages I think we can all agree that the potential is there. Mariah could have a huge critical and commercial darling if she lessened the control like she did on TEOM and debut. Two albums that she had the guidance of someone else and two of her most outstanding releases in her career. Who would she trust to do this with again? Sylvia Rhone?

Mariah would do well with anything that uses the wall of sound production which practially all of Amy's songs were produced with. It's such a lush backdrop.

Re: 90s sound (93,178) (93,182)
by this_is_qhm from the Philippines

Disco seems to be making a comeback. Dua Lipa is clearly influenced by it for her new songs. I wouldn't be surprised if Taylor goes that way next, or if the upcoming Adele record is disco-fied as well. Mariah has dabbled in it sparingly, and she did it twice with MIAMTEC. It would be interesting to see if she wants to do it again. Caution was a mostly a love letter to her 90s - early 00s self. TEOM did flirt with 70s sounds, although more on the classic gospel and R&B side of things. Going full-on modern disco would be fun. It would be nice if she made her own version of Madonna's Confessions on a Dancefloor, where all the songs are mixed like a DJ's set and one song seamlessly segues to the next.

Caution unplugged (93,181)
by Dove from United States
| |
|
|
Honestly, I doubt this would ever happen but I'm going to put it out there anyway. I would love if she made an unplugged album with just the songs on Caution. Filmed somewhere tropical. With Paul McCartney's band. Maybe went one too far with Paul McCartney's band. I'm sure he would lend them to her for a few nights. They're both music royalty. It would make an R&B album a little more rock. "I'm not sure how that would sound," you say? I'll tell you: it would sound amazing.
I was just listening to Caution again and instead of Paul McCartney's band maybe Amy Winehouse's band. Especially on Giving Me Life.

Dress (93,180)
by Dove from United States
| |
|
|
I'd like to see her in my favorite dress ever: the Christine dress from Reformation. Black is fine but I would also love it in nude and covered in crystal beads and with crystal beads on her stockings here and there. And shoes without the platform in the front. I hate how that looks. It looks clunky and not graceful at all.
That dress would look great on her because it would show off her small waist and super long legs but at the same time it's not skin tight and not too low cut. The bow ties at the shoulders add a fun feminine touch. I also like how it flares at the hips slightly. Best dress ever.
Another dream outfit is the red dress with the one diagonal strap Marilyn Monroe wears in How To Marry a Millionaire. I also love the orange one from Gentleman Prefer Blondes but she already wore that one in concert. I'd be happy with a comeback for that one.
I also wanted to add that I agree, her American Idol styling was on point. Hair and outfits.

90s sound (93,178)
by Dove from United States

Mariah already did the 90's sound and she did it better than anyone. I would love for her to go all the way back to the 70's and 80's and do a disco album.

I would like to see her wear more a-line skirts and dresses that flare slightly at the hips.
About the clown make-up: you have to wear a ton of make-up when you're on stage because the bright lights wash you out. She doesn't wear it like that for televised interviews or music videos. If she does I haven't noticed.

I'd rather see what her and Ben Margulies would come up with these days. There was a freshness to their songs and, with Walter, you sort of know what you're going to get. All the Carey/Margulies compositions were unique and different in their own way.
