Mariah's performance at Rockefeller (48,215) by Joe from United Kingdom
Here's the issue, yes people do look out for the negative more then the positive when it comes to Mariah performances but to be honest it's because she has an amazing performance when nobody is actually watching but when all eyes are on her it just don't go to well. I'm always worried when she's about to do a televised performance because I know if it doesn't go well the media can't wait to speak on it. And then two days later she'll do a great non televised performance but nobody sees it. I don't know if it's nerves or what but this has been a pattern in how she performs for years now. It's the same thing that happened with the tour, the first night all eyes were on her it was bad then she improved drastically but by then only the lambs are looking out for it. Please perform well where it actually counts. This will just be another performance like last year when I just pretend it didn't happen and move on. Hope I don't sound to harsh.

G.G. / facing the truth (48,214) by Marissa from USA
I'm with you G.G. I'm sick of these excuses. If shaky performances were extremely rare for Mariah I would look for an outside circumstance to blame as well, but this is nothing new. There have been numerous performances that I've cringed at even when she was indoors, was in perfect health (no colds), etc. Her voice has changed. Period. I will always be a lamb, watch her interviews and performances but let's just face reality. I know that a lot of people are trying to hype up the performance because they know that when MC gives a bad performance it makes us look bad, but come on now.

G.G., Badr (48,213) by Stacey from USA
Well said. Your thoughts are spot on. The part where she sings "I hear those sleigh bells ringing", she moved away and cut out during the word "sleigh". At that one moment, I can see the parallels some Twitter posts made comparing the voice to the beginning of her tour. Granted, she killed the rest of the tour. I don't know. It's sad to think one of the greatest voices, greatest careers with accomplishments few would hope to even come close to matching, is being talked about like this. MC came back with a vengence with TEOM after the debacle that was Glitter and ok performance of Charmbracelet. Yet, MC got it together. She had a good group of people around her and she killed it with that era. I think if she were to surround herself with good people, get with a good management team, take a break, I have no doubt she could come back and shut up her critics again.

No excuses, just the facts (48,212) by nikki from usa
Last year, her Rockefeller performances were flawless and so was her duet with Buble. How was her National Tree Lighting performance? All those shows were done in the same month. She was able to sing beautifully and then her voice just died at the end of the month? There were circumstances clearly, because that wasn't her norm. How about her first performance in Japan and her last in Brisbane? Mariah has good and bad days like everyone else. Fans keep saying she can't sing anymore, but then sooner or later she slays a song indisputably live and these same people are shocked. Until another bad day comes around that is. Mariah Carey is Mariah Carey at 44. It's a strange phenomena that she's forever supposed to sound like she's 22, this only applies to her. Elvis, Sinatra, Brocelli, and Tony Bennet never sounded the same as their younger years. Mariah in the 90's was 100% about her career. Mariah now is concerned with being a mom, her personal life, and singing. She's not 100% in it at the moment. But, when Mariah is in love with life once again is when the music flows, the perfectionist returns, and she'll be back on top.

Performance (48,211) by Jenny from South Africa
I'm surprised to see so many people think she sang badly. I thought 95% of it was great. Maybe certain parts she didn't go for the belt or high note but she still sounded great. The intro was perfect. I can't believe someone said it sounded like the opening night of the Elusive Chanteuse tour. That's completely off base in my opinion. Maybe we all hear things differently.

On and off / hot and cold (48,210) by Reuben Walton from United States
Twitter was lit up yesterday evening with thousands of cynics declaring "she's over/needs to retire/it's done/her ship has sailed" etc. The thing about only noticing the negative is so true. It's like they either don't notice the good performances, or they do but then they immediately flip the switch off and make the same declarations as soon as there is one bad performance.

Mariah hate (48,209) by B from USA
Mariah has always been criticized by the media for her tours and live performances. This isn't something new. Even during the Daydream world tour she was accused of lip-syncing and they also talk about her antics and lack of stage presences. She sang beautifully at Christmas in Rockefeller. She failed to hit a few high notes but the rest was one of her best.

That Mariah refuses to walk on carpet. That was a good one, lol. She's the floating elusive diva.

Christmas in Rockefeller Center (48,207) by B from USA
Some of the high notes were a little pitchy or flat but the rest was great. I loved it. She slayed it. Those moments are forgivable and she proved she still she has her voice.

Thoughts (48,206) by Dove from USA
People are going to say mean things no matter what. Sometimes I look at the comment section of Taylor Swift articles, she gets bashed big time too, and she's the it girl right now. I was watching a Sia interview, when she was on Howard Stern, she was talking about how she didn't want to be famous because there are parts of it she didn't like and I could totally relate. I couldn't do it. People think they have a license to say whatever they want about you and criticise everything as if they're flawless. Sometimes I watch people at the airport or at the mall and there are very few people who look like the people we see in movies and magazines. Mariah is a 10. I wish people respected her and enjoyed what she has to give us. Or if they have nothing nice to say, say nothing. Tony Bennet doesn't sing like he used to but people don't slam his voice or wrinkles or grey hair. If she's tired of fame maybe she can just slow down and become a studio artist and focus on preserving her legacy. She doesn't need to tour anymore if she doesn't want to. If/when she gets the performance itch she can have small concerts in New York. It's not like she needs the money. I enjoyed her performance a lot and the audience in the clip seemed to enjoy it too. I appreciate her but it bugs me so much that other people don't. I see her getting slammed for any little thing while other artists can release horrible work but all the articles say only good things about them.

AIWFCIY Rockefeller (48,205) by Lee TS from USA
I thought it started out well but it was less than stellar. There's a video that shows her "mic" voice only and well it's just a complete and total mess. I hope she'll pull through with the Christmas shows. Mariah looked gorgeous but the only thing that was off was her makeup, her cheek looked horrible on camera like a glob of paint. I suspect it's the same makeup artist she used on tour who had MC looking like a ragamuffin. Let's hope she gets invited to perform next year.

Mariah live at Rockefeller Center (48,204) by NHYTG from nyc
I don't think this perormance was her best but it wasn't that bad either, I enjoyed it. These days it's o so easy to diss Mariah for everything she does wrong in so many people's opinion. At least she had the guts to sing live. I wonder what Katy Perry, Rihanna or Taylor Swift would have sounded like doing such a difficult song live in these circumstances. I don't think they would have done it much better. It looks like the audience has had a good time, better than those behind their computers.

Live performance (48,203) by MimiLamb from Germany
We all know the minute Mariah performs it's either a hit or a miss. What I don't get is the backlash afterwards. Everytime it's treated like it's the first time it happened. Come on now, that's ridiculous. At this point it doesn't matter what happens, a lot of people can't get out of their negative mindset. When all is well people don't pay that much attention and are quiet but the minute something goes wrong, like not showing up (reason not known, while these media outlets aren't trustworthy) or not giving a flawless performance everybody is present to give their 2 cents. For me that is the sad part and not the performance she gave, she had better ones yes, but worse as well. I sometimes feel so ashamed how fans think and act more then I'm ashamed of a bad performance.

AIWFCIY on NBC, December 2014 (48,202) by R&B Junkie from Poland
I just watched the performance. I enjoyed this one, completely live. Yes, the voice isn't exactly what it used to be, but it's still pretty good.

Mariah on NBC (48,201) by Gloria from Hong Kong
It's funny that people actually believe what the internet said. I couldn't stop but laugh at the whole overheard thing. Yes, Mariah is famous for being late, and I feel sorry for those fans waiting outside for her, but there are many possible reasons to explain the incident, the divorce seems not one of them. We all see how she managed the tour, looking happy and giving her best. Come on, it isn't the first time she's going through a divorce. My point is, we can only interpret (in a sense, guess) what happened so please don't act like you know everything. Let's get back to the live performance. Honestly it was not her best, but I'm totally satisfied with a real live. She might lose some of the high notes, and worse, experience audio issues, it was full of joy though. I remember last year's live at the National Christmas Tree Lighting, it was a bigger no-no. Here's what. When she lips sync, people said she can't sing anymore. When she actually sings, people tease about her singing not as good as the early days. Can't people get positive with things and make them go easier? I love that Mariah always sings AIWFCIY live even her voice isn't in shape. Anyway, I appreciate her effort and "festivity". To those who claim that they are lambs, just enjoy the show.

Be honest (48,200) by G.G. from USA
We all need to get real and have a come to Jesus meeting. This isn't about Nick, her faulty earpiece, a cold, the weather etc. This is about the fact that Mariah no longer has the flaw free control and the ability to float between registers that she once did. Stop trying to sugar coat what is going on. We, the lambs, and Mariah need to be honest and face facts. When you face the truth, then and only then can things change for the better. Mariah will always be my favorite singer, even though she doesn't have the same voice she once did. I just can't deal with all the excuses and lies.

Mariah Carey (48,199) by Badr from USA
I start by pointing out the fact the album and the tour received international acclaim. MIAMTEC turned out to be one of the best collections she's released in years. Yet, it failed commercially, as no singles were properly released. At least 5 songs had potential to become hits, but nothing happened. This era has been/was characterized by misfortunate events: her fall, divorce, rumors, poor management, bad publicity, etc. Truth is her current career state is not too promising. She also let her personal life affect her career as her work had become lazy, repetitive, and uninspired, not all of it of course. It's also clear she's been having problems with her voice (she still has one of the best voices in the industry). Some people out there are counting her out, once again, but I'm sure she's capable of making another spectacular comeback. However, I highly doubt she's ready for it. I wish she makes people miss her and focus on her kids, deal with the divorce, fully recover from that fall, lose weight, and record another phenomenal album. Put all the pieces together one more time to prove herself. I'm also sure most people, including me, are getting tired of that "dahhling" diva attitude. We often forget she's Mariah freaking Carey who's had one of the most impressive careers in music history, wrote and recorded some of the most memorable songs of our generation, possesses a legendary voice, wrote iconic Christmas music and, yes, she's still got the looks. Why waste all that?

Ever wonder (48,198) by nikki from usa
What is really going on behind the scenes? I don't think anyone would've blamed MC if she cancelled the tour or postponed it. Especially, after the news of marital woes. I'm still shocked Nick was dumb enough to take a lie detector test. He failed miserably when asked about Amber. "Hey, maybe I was nervous and these things aren't always accurate." Good one, Nick, good. I do wonder if Mariah's doing this for therapy or to get away from it all. The other possibility is that she's had so much down time the rest of her team is convincing her to get back to work. They want to get paid. If MC was insecure before, being cheated on with a younger female will bring her over the top. She's had all these bad starts. It doesn't seem like she's entirely into it, like she's going through the motions. The spirit is willing, but the heartache isn't on board. Maybe her Christmas shows will be better since they're all planned and in the same place. She'll have more control. I'm still worried about her doing those shows back to back without a break. Why is she working herself like this?

Tree lighting and things (48,197) by Brad from USA
Hello fellow lambs. For nearly 25 years Mariah and her music have been a light in my life. In ways, they will always be. It does seem clear and undeniable that the best of those days have passed. I think she possesses talents and perhaps an appeal that would enable her to still be in the public spotlight if she worked hard at it and desired that. I think it requires her to turn in, be quiet with herself and find what it is that she now wants to be about. Perhaps it is something beyond music, beyond artistry, beyond stardom and more about humanity and the world she wants to leave to her children and grandchildren. Bigger picture things. One can hope. Until she makes that determination, I can only hope she protects herself, her children and her remaining voice (her gift) to the best of her abilities and makes good decisions for the welfare of each. Nobody told any of us the road would be easy but I don't believe He brought us this far to leave us. May God bless us all, always, and most especially during this special time of year. We love you, Mariah and forever thank you for the gift of your light. Be well.

WTF is going on? (48,196) by nikki from usa
All these pics of MC in black with shades, yet her performance features her in a red dress. Did she sing more than 1 song? Or did she sing at the pretaping after all? I feel so, so, so bad for MC right now. I blame me, really. I jinxed this. I thought the only problem she could possibly have at this point is a faulty earpiece which has messed up so many performances in the past. Sure enough. She's tapping the ear before she takes the thing out and throws it over her shoulder. Performing live deaf. Now, the reviews. MC might make her own choices and what not, but where her career is concerned Nick has been like a bad penny. It's just an energy thing. If he just had her over for Thanksgiving why is he waiting until just before she's set to tape to go over divorce stuff? It couldn't wait until the day after? How many times did MC ever stop you from working, Nick? It's weird. Whenever MC helped out with his career and made appearances for him, he soared. Everything he helped with from music videos and the way he "inspired" her, MC crashed and burned. It would be ironic if Mariah's career took off after the papers were signed.

AIWFCIY on NBC (48,195) by Warren from Trinidad & Tobago
I loved the fact that she moved around and had fun and just got rid of the little jacket when it was in the way, but I think it was too cold for her to really let loose vocally. She did sounded good at some parts though.

AIWFCIY live at Christmas in Rockefeller 2014 (48,194) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
She made it. I stayed up to watch it and it was worth it to see the crowd sing along and Mariah in void spirits. Also, Roc and Roe are almost old enough to join the chorus line. Wouldn't that be awesome? Anyway, enjoy.

Tree lighting (48,193) by Darryle from USA
I think Mariah did pretty well at the tree lighting. Sure the vocals weren't perfect and you could tell that at some points she was struggling but she pulled it off. Considering the fact that her jacket/mic pack fell off and her earpiece wasn't in I'd say she did great. It was probably hard to perform with all the technical difficulties.

The time has come for Mariah to become an excellent, undetectable lip synch performer. She is being made fun of on so many online sites for that poor vocal performance.

Does anyone else love this song? This year it's my favorite track off MCIIY, I think I've had a different one every year. I prefer the solo version, because it's more Mimi, but I like that there's a festive video filled with happiness. Dem babies were so small.
