"News" (53,565) by LC from USA I'm really hating how certain "news publications" skew quotes and use selected pieces of "evidence" to paint Mariah in a negative light. Like this article in the Mirror. Readers are supposed to judge the way Mariah sounded based on freaking Jennifer Lopez? We are supposed to judge the way Mariah sounded by the opinion of a woman who, on her best days, couldn't even sing as good as Mariah did at the beginning of the TECS tour? Really? And since when are the opinions of Twitter nobodies accurate and unbiased bases for judgment? It's just so fucked up. Why didn't they report the fact that she was in Billboard's Top 10 performances of the night? That almost every news publication outside of theirs praised Mariah's incredible vocal performance? It was the same for Vegas. She got glowing reviews from everyone, yet that one negative NY Times review is used as the only piece of evidence for Mariah's opening night. It's really disgusting. Yet Jennifer Lopez gets endless praise for everything. What has Hollywood come to? Sorry for the rant guys. Just needed to vent. I feel much better now. Fantasy (53,563) by Dove from USA My preorder is taking its sweet time getting here, so I went to Target to get a physical copy and it sounds like they added the "sweet sweet fantasy baby" to the ODB version. Or has it always been there, I don't remember? I still believe Mariah can get another #1. I believe she can get six more #1's, anything is possible when you believe. LA's comments (53,561) by Alex from England I 100% agree with him, he's absolutely right, we should feel lucky to love a 45 year old's artist's music still being played on the radio. That doesn't happen a lot, even more so when it's a woman. LA Reid was very clear in his words, he didn't leave anything to be miinterpreted. He didn't take away any of Mariah's accomplishments but he was being truthful: Mariah getting a #1 record anymore is highly unlikely. It doesn't mean it cannot happen but it's a long stretch. How many times have we heard fans say "it's her new #1" in the last 7 years? Yes, with every single released or so. Radio caters to younger audiences than it used to. Who buys singles off iTunes? Who has the time to stream videos and music all day long? Young teens. Us adults actually work and have other things to do in our lives other than being just a fan. Let us rejoice in Mariah still being invited to perform on TV, that she still graces magazines' covers so far into her career. And most importantly, she still releases great music more frequently than her contemporaries. Now I would rather for everyone to finally respect her longevity and artistry than her to get another #1 single. Seeing Mariah back on TV really makes me happy, it's like she's one of the only things that's been constant over the last 17 years that I've been a lamb. (Wednesday 20 May 2015; 1:00)

I don't know if he talked about not expecting Mariah to snag a number one as a cover up for the fact that Infinity didn't come out swinging on the charts or if he genuinely doesn't have faith in her. He may have said what many people were thinking but it's not a good look when someone who's supposed to be on your side is talking about you like you're a has been and has low expectations of you. It may be more difficult for her to snag a number one since she's no longer at her career peak, but I don't believe that it's impossible if she puts out the right material and promotes the hell out of it. I also think a collab with a younger artist would be great for her but only if she chooses the right person. In other words, not these younger artists that people only mildly care about like Miguel, Trey Songz or Rich Homie Quan. If you're gonna do it, do it right. Get Beyonce, Rihanna, Chris Brown, Taylor Swift, etc. People who are truly relevant. (Tuesday 19 May 2015; 23:16)

I'm still not over the clip from Ellen with Tyson Beckford looking like God's gift, Jussie Smollet looking like Farnsworth Bentley and the runaway sommelier, with the Belaire champagne, looking like Frito the Italian car thief. The facial expressions alone are replay worthy. So freaking funny and beautifully shot that I'm probably buying this MV on iTunes in a few months. Rant (53,558) by Dove from USA I wasn't going to say anything, but I'm here so I might as well throw in my two cents. My heart fell to my stomach when the camera went to the nameless one and TS and they were sitting there looking bored and clapping half-halfheartedly while most people around them were standing up. Mariah Carey is a legend and even if they didn't like the song or performance they could have stood to recognize 25 years of hard work and achievement. Mariah Carey stood for the nameless one on American Idol. Even though TNO sounded like a dying goat. Shaking your butt doesn't warrant a standing ovation, we can get that at a strip club. The other one really disappointed me because I thought she was better than that. She didn't have to get crazy but at least clap half-halfheartedly while standing. I'm sure if MC had done better commercially the past few years they would have stood up. The main reason I liked TS is because I thought she was genuine and nice and happy for other people's success. I gave TNO the benefit of the doubt because I used to think she was sweet too. MC hasn't even said anything about TNO since, I want to say the CB album. Considering everything that happened, TNO is lucky MC didn't say more back then. Of course MC was angry, who wouldn't be? Well, Napoleon Dynamite was really huge and trendy for a while but then people became tired of him. The TS train will end too, even with marketing savvy parents, because she's no Michael Jackson or MC. And she believes her own hype. (Tuesday 19 May 2015; 22:49)

LA Reid / just chill (53,556) by Marcus from Brazil Mariah Carey has had lots of pressure to produce a hit. The media has their eyes on her, and no matter whether she has a top 10, people are always expecting for her next #1. Of course LA Reid and Mariah are on the same page, he is just making sure people give Mariah a fair chance without the pressure. They must've realized by now that regurgitating her having #18's at every chance has done more bad than good. The music scene is very unpredictable, what you think might stick could turn out to be a disappointment or vice versa. Let's stop the witch hunt every time something goes wrong with Mariah's music, sometimes shit happens. Just remember that unlike her Sony days, Mariah, just like Beyonce, has lots of input on her music too, to the point where she goes in the studio and basically put her album together by herself without being bother. I think Sony's nailing it in the promotion department. To the point that "#1 to Infinity" might sell more copies than "MIAMTEC". Chill, and enjoy the ride. (Tuesday 19 May 2015; 21:51)

BBMA, Kimmel (53,553) by Stacey from USA MC did ok at the BBMA awards. I honestly think she held back on VOL to save her voice for that night's Vegas show. The transition into Infinity was awkward with the music starting before MC was done with VOL. However, I thought MC recovered nicely by singing the final VOL note in the same key as Infinity. Her going back and forth between live and pre-recorded vocals was nice. You could hardly tell. MC always seems a bit nervous at awards shows. On Kimmel though, she was much more relaxed and let her personality show a bit more talking to the audience and such. More importantly than her performance on Kimmel was her interview. The diva antics of the past few years were gone. She was funny, engaging, not loopy as we have seen in the past. These kind of interviews along with in print interviews she's done are just as important as a good performance. Seems like she has a good team in place. (Tuesday 19 May 2015; 21:16)

It all makes sense (53,552) by Ethan from United States Yes to the VOL and Infinity performance on Jimmy Kimmel. So much better than BBMA. She's always said it that she feels more comfortable when it's not an award or an official show. She mentioned it about her Vegas residency dress rehearsal and this Jimmy Kimmel mini concert showed. They're both less pressure and stressful for her. Thus, she sounded much better and more comfortable on stage. She had more body/hand movements. I have to give a shout-out to her backup singers as well. I love them. They're always so creative with their hand movements for all of Mariah's songs while singing back-up. They have them down. And it all makes sense that the CD arrived on May 18th in the US because she's had 18 #1s. Haha. I think it was on purpose. Now if only the music video comes out next week continueing the momentum of Jimmy Kimmel and Live with Kelly and Michael, it will boost up the sales with radio additions of Infinity. After May, she can rest and and promote more of #1 to Infinity since she's on a break at Caesars Palace until July. I hope she does more TV show performances. (Tuesday 19 May 2015; 20:33)

LA (53,551) by B from USA I guess a standards album wouldn't be that bad. I just want Mariah to silence the critics before going that route with her career. I think she's still too relevant for that. I think Mimi and Baby are on to something with the lowering of expectations. The public continues to expect each release to sell like Daydream or Music Box which in this day and age is unrealistic. Albums don't sell like that anymore. I would prefer a gospel album to a standards album to be honest. (Tuesday 19 May 2015; 19:38)

Let's maintain her presence in the top ten. Stream Infinity on YouTube (won't cost you much) and Spotify (for those for you that have premium) and for the old skool heads, pop to your local HMV and buy a copy. L.A. Reid downplaying Mariah's relevancy (53,547) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End B, I wouldn't worry about Mariah putting out a concept album. Billy is right to take note of her singing a snippet of ISB at the mini concert on Jimmy Kimmel. That's a cover that Mariah not only made her own but reinvented through the various remixes. Mariah is a musical genius and the only living recording artist whose audience isn't limited by genres, geography, gender, seasons, ethnicity, creed or entire generations. It's no wonder she and MJ share the same #1 record with IBT. They share a lot of the same traits that make them so universally loved. Remember how pissed M was that Tommy was turning her into Connie Francis with the Merry Christmas album? Regardless of other's motivations, Mariah broke out of any music box TPTB have ever put her in and she will again. Also, it seems Mariah's sole motivation for this era is L.O.V.E. more than anything and I think it's very brave how she's going about it. One could even say cocky, well for Mariah it is very brazen. In any case, L.A. Reid is a mere mortal, he has no control over the devine entity that has shown Mariah favour over the years. But even still, he's the reason WBT, SIO, DFAU exists so he obviously has great intuition and Mariah's back. He calls her his "work wife". Besides, some of Mariah's best songs have stalled at #2, like Can't Let Go. Meanwhile some of her best work like The Roof or more recently the MIAMTEC album remain unsung because of politics. Infinity was probably the best performance I've seen thus far of the song. Was it just me or did it seem as if she was waiting for a track to cue on that whistle? She went ahead and nailed it though. Wow (53,543) by Gary from United Kingdom Ok so I just caught the Jimmy Kimmel Live concert and the performance of VOL on 17th May at Vegas. I thought she did well on the Billboards but she eclipsed that on these two shows. Kimmel was completely live and amazing, yes she had back up singers but that is because Mariah at least double tracks all her vocals and usually even multiple vocals are layered on tracks. In the studio she even does all the backing vocals so in order to get that across on a live show she needs either a few backing singers/backing track to create the same melodies. She sang completely live on Kimmel and was almost flawless. The VOL performance on 17th May was fabulous, she really went for it on the money notes and it was almost as great as her 2005 VOL performance on an MTV show. I forget the name, it will come to me. It seems the media only air her "shaky" or "off" performances which every artist will have but from these recent shows I think we can safely say the vocie is back baby (not that she really went anywhere darlings). Jimmy Kimmel (53,542) by Gilbert from USA I have to say arriving at 9 AM could be the best thing I could do to myself. I was about three people behind from the stage and I got to see how it feels to be front row. She was so beautiful and sounded quite awesome and to be honest I think she sounded much better then her BBMA awards show. This sort of made up a little bit from a canceled concert but waiting all those hours was worth it and she sang about 4 songs and did a little bit of The Roof. I also got to meet some nice lambs as well. I will have that in my memories from now on. (Tuesday 19 May 2015; 17:39)

Genres and concept albums (53,540) by Dove from USA Mariah Carey has already established longevity, and herself as an artist. She is not going to be pigeon-holed if she makes a standards album. I love all of her music but I really crave to hear her do something completely different and a standards album would break up the monotony. I’m not saying every album she makes from now until the end of time needs to be full of classics but one album would be nice. It doesn't even need to have a huge promo-push; she can release it on a holiday, such as Valentine’s Day, and say it’s just to tide the fans over until the next release. She should have done this between E=MC2 and Memoirs when she was having a creative slump but now is a good time too. I would like to hear Mariah singing a lot of different types of genres and making concept albums: standards, dance, jazz, rock, covers, etc. I think it would be like salted caramel in that it would enrich the type of music she already loves to make. Of course the crown jewels in the future would be the masterpieces she creates herself, such as MIAM. Mariah Carey is up there with The Beatles, Marilyn Monroe, and Elvis in status and legacy. In the future, when we’re all old or dead, people are going to wish she would have explored different niches. (Tuesday 19 May 2015; 17:23)
