Re: New deal (74,335) (74,371) by B from USA
This is a new deal. The former deal didn't include her own vanity label. She had some success with her Crave label in the late 90's with Allure and their hit single All Cried Out. Her The MonarC label's sole release was TEOM, or was it? She's got an ear for music she's just stuck in a rut. Maybe writing for others will help her find her voice again. I think she's been talking to LA and he was brutally honest with her and told her what she needed to hear. She's probably been talking to him since Roger ran the story claiming Epic was considering dropping her. Her dumping Bryan is a sign this floundering ship has found it router.

New album (74,370) by Mara from United States
Will made some good points and possible details about the new deal and label. I hope MC did not just add Stella whatsherface to the record label and therefore she is tied to all future releases on this new label. This is Mariah's hard work and profession here. Stella should not be added just because if that is even what is going on. I will wait to see if more details ever emerge. We do know how she attached herself with All I Want and the Magic Carpet. I'm sorry but Stella has no place with Mariah's music. Again, not sure on the details but that would make sense with what Will mentioned and the singles route by giving Epic the out if they do not agree with what Mariah wants to push as far as anything other than the album she may contractually owe Epic. Which leads me to also be a little skeptical about the announcement of the new album. I precisely remember MC saying on that Facebook live video that she wants to focus on singles and not an album any time soon so forgive me if I am a little hesitant on excitement for a new body of work. I will not set myself up to be let down and that is in no way a stab at MC. I just am craving a complete album that she is ready to put out and not a bunch of "I Don'ts and Infamouses" and I don't know if she has that for us. She said it herself so all of a sudden she will have an album later this year. I am not setting myself up just yet. Better to be happily surprised than let down. All in all, I hope MC is in a good place and wish her positivity with this "break-up". Now if only she would clean house on some others, things might feel more like an era ready for an impact.

Crave Records, to MonarC Ent. to Butterfly MC (74,369) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
I've extremely intrigued by Butterfly MC Records. This is now the third time Mariah's had her own sub-label under a major label. Crave Records was about new talent (Allure, Jakaranda,S.O.A.P.); MonarC only served to deliver Charmbracelet and The Remixes (post Mimi's 2001 breakdown), and now we have Butterfly MC Records. What exactly happened to Crave and MonarC? Can anyone fill me in on details of why these labels folded? What does everyone think the intention of Butterfly MC Records is? So interesting that only a couple short months ago Mariah claimed "no one wants albums anymore", yet today she's announced a new album this year. What's with the about-face? Don't misunderstand me, I'm living for a new album. I thought her statement about no one wanting full albums was nuts.

Article: Mariah Carey's "new deal" is her old deal, reiterated (74,368) by B from USA
I think she do half and half. Half original songs and half covers of classics. She should collaborate with Frank Ocean, Miguel, and The Weekend on the originals and stay away from 80's power ballads. Id love to hear her sing Bring [sic] Over Troubled Water and Amazing Grace. I'd love a studio version of If You Only Knew and Somewhere Over The Rainbow and You And I. That's five covers all she needs to do is call up those dudes and their cowriters and producers and write five original songs.

Possible collaborators (74,367) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Just putting this out there so that if MC is looking for ideas about who her fans want her to collaborate with, please feel free to add to the list, they usually check this site and UKMix and sometimes pick our ideas. Also the order I'm writing in is just random and not according to preference.
1) Bruno Mars
2) Pharrell
3) Beyoncé
4) Miguel
5) The Chainsmokers (just for a change)
6) Lady Gaga (ya crazy I know)
7) Sia
8) Happy Perez
9) The Weeknd
10) Drake
11) Kanye West
12) Kendrick Lamar
13) Rihanna
14) Zayn

New album (74,366) by B from USA
I hope Mariah's learned from the lackluster responses to You're Mine, Infinity, and I Don't that people are tired of her uninspired midtempo R&B jams. We want songs like Honey, The Roof, Breakdown, Side Effects, I'm That Chick, Meteorite, Make It Look Good, and #Beautiful. Mariah write lyrics like you did during the Daydream and Butterfly eras. No more product placements or slang. Work with Happy Perez and Miguel, they seamlessly updated your signature sound and it scored you your last hit single. Also enlist David Morales, David Foster, and Diane Warren. Start listening to mainstream R&B and Pop radio so you'll know what will click with audiences and what won't. And hire an A-list manager to manage your music career, Stella is a reality show producer with no real credentials. Keep her on to run your joint production company or give it to her as a parting gift.

Re: New deal (74,359) (74,365) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Good Lord you had me laughing so hard. That would go 7x platinum for sure. TEOM who? We'll probably have a platinum edition re-release with bonus tracks:
1) Empower Your Girls (but throw shade anyways remix)
2) Stink You Up (Stella's unwashed leather jacket dub)

Re: New album (74,355) (74,364) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
My biggest concern is the roll out because usually Mariah's albums are always solid so I'm sure the material will be fine but all her recent roll outs have been so freaking messy and drama filled. However regarding material, I do have a concern now, because just 2 months back she said that she doesn't plan on releasing an album soon and that she will only release singles for now, and just a few weeks later we get this news. I am overjoyed there is an album coming but I don't want it to be a rush. She has some time off now for a short time but she'll be on the road and Vegas again soon so will she really have enough time?

Or Stella "Bollocks-fudgeoff" (I would have used the four lettered F word but it would get censored, so we shall stick to the child friendly version).

Article: Mariah Carey's "new deal" is her old deal, reiterated (74,362) by jaker20 from US
It's true though. She's released nothing in the last 7 years, or at least something non lambs know about without googling it. It's been trainwreck after trainwreck but fans refuse to accept it for what it is. I think she has no more creativity left, it's all gone down to booze and touching her hair. Surprsing because Madonna had a no.1 when she was in her 40s and Cher her bigger song ever in her 50s. MC needs to realize it's not all about Pamela Anderson-like drama and flings with dudes half her age, she has to deliver too. I'm not even expecting songs with high notes, just proper songs whatever they maybe. MC's problems right now is herself.

Lmao. That tracklisting is kind of hot. TEOM part 2 is on the way. I'm laughing so hard I can't even think of a bonus track to add.

Article: Mariah Carey fires back at publicist (74,358) by Will from England
I think this was the first time Stella's name ever came up. Little did we know back then how we'd come to dislike that name.

Roger (74,357) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
Mr Showbiz 411 has egg on his face because he just said Mariah and Epic were going to part ways as she was being dropped. Well will you look at God not only did she not get dropped she entered into her very own joint venture. Sounds to me like Roger is bitter with Mariah for some reason I believe that this is because she no longer works with his dear friend Cindi Berger.

New album (74,355) by Jono from USA
If, and that's a big if, there is a new album coming out later this year, it will have to be well planned and executed. No more delays and pushbacks. Especially now in this social media generation, you have to build and capitalize on hype in a much shorter time period. Even delaying something by more than a couple of weeks will kill any momentum. So what I would much rather Mariah do is to make sure everything is set in place, and to not give an exact release date until she is absolutely sure she can deliver. I need a TEOM rollout style, but upgraded to match the current times. That era was absolutely fire because not only was the material hot, but the preparation and execution was on point. She needs to surround herself with people who understand the music marketing and how it functions in today's society. That being said, I am always looking forward to new Mariah music.

Article: Mariah Carey's "new deal" is her old deal, reiterated (74,354) by Jono from USA
"She has a great voice. She's never recorded an album that shows off that voice properly. She needs a real producer, real songs, real arrangements. She has to surprise the world by showing she's [a] vocalist, and not just a pin up who can hit a high note." I was on board with this article until here. It's clear that this supposed journalist didn't do their research. All of her albums have always showcased the many layers and timbres to her voice. She did not adopt a sexy image until 1997 Butterfly. The world knows that she has an incredible voice, because that's what made her famous. The issue has been her recent material, which is subpar by her astronomical standards, as well as her bad performances that have made headline news. It's clear this supposed journalist is angry about the way the manager treated them, but taking it out on Mariah with lies is not the way to retaliate.

Actually he's not eating crow if what he's saying is true. Anyway I don't care if it's a new deal or an old deal, I'm just glad she may be back to taking the music seriously and we'll get an album. The only thing I didn't like is him saying she's never recorded an album that has showcased her voice. Where the the hell was he at when the first 7 or 8 albums came out? She did nothing but showcase her voice. Come on Roger. I can understand him not liking her more hip hop songs, but to act as if she's never used her voice on earlier albums is ludicrous. Hell even though Glitter had some rap on it, she still gave us vocals for days. On a funnier note, I died when he said Stella Whatchamacallit. I think I'll refer to Stella as Stella Whoseitwhatsit from now on. Lol.

Re: Art of Letting Go (74,331) (74,352) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
Lol Mimi, I don't think she meant that she was literally covered from head to toe at all times. She has a big personality we know she can exaggerate. I took it more like her image and what she was wearing was constantly and issue or a topic of much heated conversation/debate/scrutiny. Like knowing a certain type of outfit would be an issue. In order to avoid potential conflict, she wound up choosing to do things she really didn't want to, or wearing stuff that wouldn't have been her choice, to "keep the peace" and not "make waves". Inevitably, though when you stifle yourself in order to please people, there comes a breaking point where you can't do it anymore. Certainly not without building up some unresolved feelings around it. Notice I said choice. I don't think it's as simple as Tommy is a "bad guy" I think it's complicated with a lot of stuff going on. Mariah was very young at the time as well. People evolve.

Now Ribbon you're going too far. I still need my rap remixes. Lol I get what you're saying though. Having a regular, rap, and dance version of some of her songs worked really well back in the day. We all got something we wanted.

Re: Art of Letting Go (74,341) (74,350) by Licia from USA
I don't know about the undergarments being red, but she did say in an interview or article that there was to be a scene in the VOL video of her in a bra, but Tommy made them take the scene out.

Re: Insta (74,348) (74,349) by Licia from USA
I've always said she should have given that ring back. There's really no point in her continuing to wear it. If JP is as crazy as they tried to make him out to be, there's no way I'd still have or be wearing that ring. I agree that no other man would be ok with her still wearing an engagement ring from someone else. Andrew you know she liked the attention that she got whether it was good or bad.

Re: Insta (74,343) (74,348) by Andrew from UK
What's totally strange is that Mariah still wears the ring in the first place. I'm not sure people are looking at it in awe, they're looking at it wondering what kind of person wouldn't have given it back, considering the circumstances in which it was given. Or at least have taken the bloody thing off and put it in a safe. Again, really not sure Mariah is compos mentis when it comes to the chasm between the way she probably wants to be perceived and how she actually is.
