It's hard, but... (84,275) by Edward from USA I know we all have this expectation that Mariah would pull a monster hit out of her weave just like that, but that's not the case without the fan-base she used to have to support her. It's not impossible, just very unlikely. We all know "Loverboy" was just a rushed mess that didn't deserve to even be played, yet it made it to #2, that was the power of the lambs buying multiple singles, calling to request, it was actually the most requested song that year. We're just three cats now, we alone don't have that power anymore. Unless she releases a song that the GP likes, we won't have a hit. But, do we so desperately want a hit or a great song? We used to have both, but I would be happy with the latter. That feeling of having Mariah hitting #1 left and right was a high we got so used to that we can't seem to let it go. It's time to just enjoy the music as-is, if you so like, or just stop listening. I don't care much about the charts anymore, I just hope Mariah doesn't recycle the same sound again. If the music is good, that's what matters at this point. "Almost Home" was a flop commercially, but it was a great song, it didn't sound rushed or half-cooked, that's what I'm expecting from her, quality more than anything. So far I like the snippet. Remy and Caymus (84,270) by Ethan from United States I love how Mariah is freely endorsing these alcohol brands: Caymus in GTFO and Remy in With You. It's definitely her signature style from naming people (Bobby Womack, Babyface, Wendy Williams, etc.) to things (Harvard, YouTube, Windex, etc.). It feels like there are a few snippets and they (music chords) are kind of similar to the ones she's shared yet at times they don't sound alike. One more freaking day. GTFO. It's hard to believe that some people are more concerned about what she should be doing than what she has actually done. Like Yiorgos said she has already fixed many things that we were unhappy about, yet some people still find crap to complain about. I'm very excited about the new era, and I think for the first time I will be celebrating away from this board. This used to be a place for the underdog who didn't wanna be one of her "enablers", yet now it's just board for a bunch of grumpy and delusional "lambs" who just can't accept that she's an artist way past her prime who is just trying to do the best she can. To think that some of you have the cheek to judge her for recycling WBT when you keep recycling the same expectations everytime she releases something new. The 90s are never coming back, get over it. First single always the right choice (84,265) by T from USA I think the chances of Mariah coming out with something in the tempo of Heartbreaker or Emotions or Someday is not going to happen. First of all they are too pop leaning for her tastes and maybe that's the problem. She should embrace some of the songs that brought her to the dance in the first place. But I do know this, in terms of first single selections the only one that may have been "wrong" at the time was Loverboy (and that wasn't even the original version of her first single so it doesn't really count). Otherwise she has always picked the the right choice to lead off the era she's embarking on. I set my expectations quite low these days. We aren't ever going to get another Fantasy or Heartbreaker. Hell, we won't ever get another Loverboy, and I really don't care about chart positions. She has nothing to prove. So long as the music is good that's all I'm really interested in. If we really think about it (84,262) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines Knowing how hellish most of Mariah's career has been this decade especially post-AI, we should really take a moment to appreciate how much of a good place she is in right now compared to where she was at any moment between 2012 to present. Let our greed as fans not blind us from the facts that Mariah hasn't looked this good, hasn't had a team this good, and hasn't been in a better place in her personal life than she currently is in a long time. We have our criticisms on her choices and her output, and we are entitled to those, but this time I have learned to stop myself when I start getting too critical or idealistic or selfish, reminding myself that this very time last year, Mariah was still with Stella and she wasn't in the best shape physically, and that 2-3 years ago things were probably even worse. Maybe it's a low bar when you're glad that someone still exists, but after all the legends we have lost in the last 10 years (most of whom gone before their time), it always makes me extremely grateful that I can still actually say that the artist I grew up listening to most is still alive and looking the best she could for her age. He wants a big first single in the vein of Emotions, Dreamlover, Fantasy, Honey, Heartbreaker, It's Like That etc. with a good strong beat and full vocals and not a pretty, mellow and hushed number, as beautiful as it may be it doesn't make for a good first single at this point for Mariah. Though I'm waiting to be surprised by the full song and I'm sure I'll love it and the whole album as well, as it stands now, it doesn't bode well commercially. That being said even if Mariah were to release We Belong Together or Fantasy now, it probably would not chart well either. (Wednesday 3 October 2018; 11:01)

With you (84,258) by yiorgos from Germany , Berlin I agree with all the guys saying that if someone is so disappointed from what Mariah is delivering after so many years (at least she is still doing music and we got some great song in the last years regardless if they became hits) he should move on and don't waste energy. On the other hand also I think it's too early to judge from only the snippet, sure we get a video and a taste from it but I can't say for sure yet if I love it or hate it, sounds like Mariah and I like the simple production, but lets wait and see. Also has happened many times that I got to like a song after a few times listening to eat or even after the video came out. In general it seams like she is doing most of the things we where asking and hoping for, more promotion, better publicity, better styling (although could still improve) way better covers, the video of GTFO (was a beauty video) but still looked good and came on time and not a month after and was not even the official single, judging from GTFO and With You until now, she is making songs with producers she didn't work before with a current sound to please the mass but still Mariah style. So ok we can't only complain. Remember what we where having a year ago and at the end of the day she is not 20 any more if that's the best she can do or what's she feels like doing ok by me. If I like it great if I don't like it that much it's sad but still doesn't take away all the work she has given us in the past to make me upset with her. (Wednesday 3 October 2018; 08:14)

What kind of kick start would it take for you to be supportive or have faith again? Serious question. Also, I cannot speak for everyone else here, but I feel it kind of is important with who MC writes her songs about, making it more personal and meaningful to her as in what is going on in her life right now. It's like a mini diary, and as a fan since debut Mariah, that used to be the only way we could get into her head or know what she was thinking as she used to be incredibly private. Minus the horrible nightmare years, Mariah never got too personal as you know. So it kind of always was an interest of mine to try and figure out if the song was autobiographical. Just my thing. Not yours? I totally respect that. But I'm just curious, honestly as to what she has to do to make you a happy fan/lamb right now. I am just happy to be getting a full album of new material from the woman who has had a song for every moment in my life. (Wednesday 3 October 2018; 03:38)
