Re: Caution drops to #163 on Billboard 200 albums chart (87,022) (87,029) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
As I read in one of the articles here, the journalist wrote that Mariah seemed happy and contempt with just releasing new music and comfortable not having hits or commercial success. They seem to want her name associated with good critics and quality, and as a lamb, I'm happy with that aswell. She is still capable of scoring a hit, but it happens with a 24 years old song. Imagine, this song is now as popular at the moment as "Obsessed" in 2009, and next week AIWFCIY will probably get even higher on the Hot 100. I actually think it has a chance to be her 19th #1.

Caution (87,028) by B from USA
I've seen several comments on YouTube saying Caution, the song not the album, sounds like Aaliyah's We Need A Resolution.

Releases (87,027) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
To answer your question Robert Anthony, yes she has released albums in November and we must remember that from where MC was about 3 years compared to right now is a major step in the right direction. To be honest I am pleased she is getting her recognition from critics and her respect as a songwriter after all these years which something she has always wanted. Also she released a great body of work even when many fans doubted her which is an achievement in itself. Yeah she may not get the chart success this era but I am happy that she has her confidence back and she gave great memories this year that outweighed the bad. So no complaints on my watch.

Funny how we always wish the album was longer when it's really mostly just us fans who are patient enough to sit through anything Mariah that's over 45 minutes. That's understandable, though, because as fans, we just want more material, period. But Mariah's fanbase only accounts for a small fraction of today's music-consuming public. Caution's running time actually is perfect for today's generation. It's just the right length for streaming. Quality over quantity will always win.

On this board, it's common to see these wishes for Mariah to work with past producers again as if getting back together would automatically guarantee great output. Despite the magic she and Walter have made in the past, Mariah clearly has her personal reasons to not collaborate with him. Regardless of what they are and if they're valid or just plain silly, I'd rather respect that than force her to work with someone she isn't comfortable with or ready to.

I don't think Mariah should be releasing old stuff from the vault just yet, especially if she is still very much capable of creating impressive new material. Knowing how much Mariah's voice has changed over the years, if she does revisit and release some songs from the past, I'd rather have her re-record them to feature her current voice. There's nothing wrong with releasing rarities. I just don't want the compilation to end up like MJ's posthumous albums - disjointed, overproduced, strictly for the nostalgia and just very random.

Look, we get it - it sucks to see a good album fall off the face of the earth so fast, but it is what it is. Yes, her team did commit some mistakes in the album's promotion, but I believe they still one hell of a great job; something that would never have happened if Stella was still in charge. Let's face it: the true highlight and biggest accomplishment of this year is making Mariah likeable again. Of course we still have quite the ways to go but considering how seemingly hopeless her situation was a year and a half ago, the progress she and her team has made so far is remarkable. The great album is merely a bonus, and I'm more than happy with that.

Edward I agree that the team did wonders with her image. She's at least likeable again. I was tired of that ditzy, mean person she created. I also think the team did a pretty good job of trying to make Caution successful. They probably knew beforehand that the charts weren't going to be in her favor, but they still tried. Considering her age and the fact that she does not have her old selling power many would have abandoned her once the singles didn't chart.

Miss You Most At Christmas Time (her saddest song) (87,024) by Sheila from United States
The song is the complete opposite of AIWFC. But it is indeed beautiful and I wish she showed it a little more love. It's not festive but it's beautiful.

All I have been wanting from her is quality music and that's exactly what I got with Caution. Her falling off the charts means nothing to me. I wasn't a chart chasing fan when she was always on top and I'm not one now. I'd love for her to be able to still make those 90's chart moves, but she's not and her chart position isn't going to keep me from loving the album. People who loved the album in the beginning shouldn't stop loving it because it fell down the charts. *shrugs*

If they wanted a commercially successful album, Mariah would've loaded the album with more tracks (although that would compromise the quality of the album). Her team would have staged a rollout campaign aggressively focused in streaming services, like Spotify and Apple Music. They would have to release the singles with the most recognizable features as the lead (a wise choice would be a remix of A No No with Cardi B and Lil Kim, which I'm still waiting on despite of my dislike of Cardi, followed by The Distance). The bundles that she did was great. Nowadays, you have to focus on streaming. We in the under 18 and 18-24 group don't really listen to the radio anymore, although I would say that radio is crucial for longevity. For the initial debut though, streaming is where it's at. I do get the feeling that her team's main focus was damage control, a subtle image change (notice how all the interviews have been centered on her songwriting, how she toned down the shade and usual diva jokes?) and critical acclaim, and they didn't have any expectations for commercial success. But yeah, I gotta agree, Mariah's hit making days are pretty much over (I hope she proves me wrong). And I don't have a problem with that. Not anymore.

At least it hasn't fallen off completely. What is it on the Billboard Albums chart? Is #23 on Billboard's R&B Albums chart. With You is still at #9 on the Adult R&B Songs chart. Next month Mariah and Epic will begin promoting Caution again with the A No No remix. They ceased promotion to focus on Merry Christmas and All I Want For Christmas is You which Epic/Sony released.

Re: Caution drops to #163 on Billboard 200 albums chart (87,011) (87,016) by Edward from USA
Here we go again blaming everybody for Mariah's commercial flops. When will we stop blaming everybody and realize that Mariah is not popular anymore when it comes to her music, and that it doesn't matter if the album is great or when it was released. Of course they knew there was a chance Mariah's Christmas music would cannibalize Caution's sales, but I think it was a great move since nobody is focusing on the flop at the moment because Mariah is riding high on her Christmas success, and with a potential new top 5. In the current music scene you can't just disappear for four years and expect people to remember you when you come back, it hasn't worked like that in ages. Caution is a good album in my opinion, but what she's known for, her big voice, it's basically non-existent on this album, not even on some songs. Since that live feed was leaked from that performance of AIWFCIY, the reign of Stella, and her New Year's lipping fail, she's lost much of the respect people had for her as a vocalist and that shows greatly with the reception of this great album. I suggest some of you focus on the music, enjoy, and stop blaming those who have given Mariah the best public perception she's had in many many years, it's not their fault she's flopping commercially. She hired Stella, she went through with Mariah's World, she was the one shading people and acting as if she was better than anybody else, now it's going to take time and work for her to recover some of what she lost. If Mariah takes another four year break with the way her voice keep deteriorating, she'll be selling 10K copies next time. Mariah needs to be in the spotlight again for her music not for her boobs and crazy diva persona.

Yeah have fun with it. JD is there to hype her up too. Her entrance looked a little "Vegasy" though. Lol. I'm not a fan of the show, but I've seen a few episodes before and they can be fun.

I'm not going to lie I never thought I'd see her on this show. It's definitely a nice surprise. I hope she really does participate and keeps it funny. I don't want her to take this too seriously. Just let go and enjoy.

Re: Caution drops to #163 on Billboard 200 albums chart (87,010) (87,011) by Bobby A from United States
Caution is dead now. It will not recover from low album sales. The Caution tour is dead too. It can't recover. MC has lost her spark with the public and in delivering radio hits. This is really sad. JD should have had 4 tracks on the album for a total of 14 tracks. Where is Walter A? She should even try the Garth Brooks approach by partnering with Wal-Mart to release her first box sets like The Columbia Years and The Def Jam Years. At this point, she needs to refocus the public attention on her early hits, B-sides, previously unreleased tracks, demos, and remixes during the 90's and 00's. We need the Complete History of Mariah Carey like next year. RocNation dropped the ball in releasing the album during November. Has MC ever had a November album release? I can't remember right now.

"Caution" has dropped to #163, down from #55 last week. This is not good. Billboard has the updated list here.

Mimi is going to appear on this show. I think that's a cute look. She will be getting the diva treatment, but it'll have been funnier if she was there to compete. All, maybe she is, I'm just guessing rnb.

AIWFCIY airplay (87,007) by Leito from USA
In my office, we've been playing Christmas music since right after Thanksgiving. We have several Christmas stations on a shuffle playlist. I heard AIWFCIY play 10+ times a day. However, it's always someone else's rendition and not Mariah's. It's so annoying. I didn't realize there were so many versions of this song.

In other news; Airplay for With You:
#8 - Urban AC
#20 - AC
#32 - HAC

Re: Caution's commercial performance (87,004) (87,006) by RibbonB from USA
I love Stay Long Love, it is perfect for radio. Nice song. If she really wanted to release Caution, just from a story perspective and with it being the title cut, she should have released it as first single. I don't like With You or The Distance, but they would make sense as 2 and 3. Maybe that's her plan for the new year and tour, shrug. But I think that should have sacked. She may now be missing a rare opportunity with 8th Grade, which is a rare gem. It is one of her best songs ever, IMO. Nice to see her RT Timbaland and note that it is also one of her faves. I would love to hear more material with Mimi, Timbaland and his team of musicians and co-writers.

O2 show (87,005) by Will from England
I am so glad that at the last minute, me and a family relative decided to go and see the show. It was simply spectacular, and we both agreed that it was better than the SSF tour mostly because there were screens present and we could actually see her this time around. Her voice blew us aware and frequently we turned to each other to marvel at what we had just heard with our own ears. There is no doubt in my mind that her voice is in good shape and will continue to be so. The unexpected highlight for me was "The Star", with Roe standing next to her superstar mother. Just beautiful. Can't wait for next year.
