Re: With You (87,423) (87,429) by RibbonB from USA
Honestly, has anyone heard the song on the radio? I live in one of the largest markets in the US, Los Angeles and it never gets played here. With You seems too boring to interest so called casual listeners.

Re: Mariah's opinion (87,416) (87,428) by Licia from USA
She's never going to talk about her vocal issues. It would be a great discussion though. I agree she probably feels the general public will go after her more. We give her alot of crap for the lipsyncing, but I believe that if she was just honest with us we'd be more understanding of the situation. The general public and the media will just take this discussion as an opportunity to blast her.

Why buy an album you don't like?

Re: Mariah's opinion (87,414) (87,426) by B from USA
I don't think Mariah will address her voice (vocal decline/issues) until she retires from releasing albums and touring. However, I don't think Mariah's going to retire anytime soon. I think she will continue write and record albums until she passes like Aretha did. Who knows maybe she'll do so in her memoirs.

Re: #Rescue Caution Campaign (87,420) (87,425) by B from USA
Seems a little premature to me since only one single has been released. I suggest waiting to see how the second single does. If it is the A No No remix with Missy Elliot and Lil Kim and possibly Cardi B it might not be needed.

Yes, I have every CD and multiple copies of some albums, a lot of singles, DVD's, and a few LP's including all the singles from "The Emancipation of Mimi", a dj exclusive double pack of CC Music Factory remixes of "Everytime You Need a Friend" and "Merry Christmas".

Re: With You (87,421) (87,423) by B from USA
With You was chosen as the first single because it's the perfect song to reintroduce Mariah Carey to casual listeners. Mariah's single being a success on Adult Contemporary and R&B radio is impressive considering LA Reid said just getting her song played on the radio was an accomplishment in 2015. R&B music is no longer considered popular music. Mariah is an R&B artist not a pop artist. She's never been a pop artist, she happened to debut when R&B was considered pop music.

While... (87,422) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
While we as a family continue to be a little dysfunctional at times about any and everything regarding MC. She seems to be enjoying some fun and family time which let’s me know she is very much at peace and content with where she is in life. We must remember that the commercial success of MC’s glory days will never happen again because the industry has changed as a whole at this point we should be glad that MC still enjoys making music and just being creative because she can call it day and be fine.

With You (87,421) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
Was only serviced to A/C and A/C R&B stations as her team was going for rebranding her with that particular audience. Also if anyone has paid attention most of her radio press stops were geared to the older audiences besides a few other than that I believe that her team had a plan going into this era fixing her public image and I feel like that they have done that. The critical accolades is what MC has always wanted and she has finally gotten that so I feel like she is in a happy place right now.

#Rescue Caution Campaign (87,420) by Bobby A from United States
I want to start a #Rescue Caution Campaign with 8th Grade as the 2nd single on Twitter starting tomorrow. Who is willing to join me? At this point, 8th Grade is the song that can save Caution from being a totally flop. Something has to be done since the very first Caution World Tour show in Dallas has not sold out. I suspect the same for the other dates too. I hope the tour isn't cancelled or downsized.

Randy, we're all holding hands drowned in happiness on this board now that "devil" is gone. Real fans are coming back to the board to form a coalition so Mariah could have another #1. Don't be another one of his stans.

Re: Mariah's opinion (87,414) (87,416) by MusicfanJ from Germany
Great post this_is_qhm. I would love to hear her speak about her voice. All the details and everything what we fans assume. But I also understand that she doesn't like to talk about her "weapon". Because her brand is still the songbird supreme, the voice and of course the diva for the public. Maybe some people would attack her even more, but a lot of people also love honesty. Hmm maybe in her book/the memoirs we will get a little more info. I hope so.

Do you still have your collection? I thought I was the only one in Norway with a Mariah collection.

Re: Mariah's opinion (87,399) (87,414) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Mariah has never really talked in depth about her voice outside of the following facts: it's sensitivity, the variability of the results when it is uses, and her ability to sing through her nodules. In all her interviews where the subject is touched upon, it's always the same quirks and intricacies that she mentions. When asked about any changes it has undergone through the years, she'd usually imply that it's still the same and then quickly follows it up with the factors that affect its sensitivity. There's one thing that's consistently implied whenever she talks about her voice, though - it's obvious that she's referring to her experience singing in the studio. She almost never talks about the physical act of performing live. All of her lipsynching shows that she still wants people to think she is capable of replicating her vocal acrobatics live.

I feel like Mariah chooses to speak less about her voice as possible because she feels that discussing her struggles would be like a star athlete revealing her weaknesses, like a warrior laying down her weapon. We don't know for sure how the world's gonna react if she does. I mean, we all know more than she gives us credit for, and that it coming out of her mouth would just be official confirmation, but perhaps she fears that doing so would only give her detractors the validation they need and even more ammunition to destroy her. The fact that she only records in the presence of her sound engineer tells us that she will probably never open up about her vocal issues.

Re: Mariah the living legend (87,412) (87,413) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I totally agree. I have been a fan of Mariah since the Butterfly album, but very soon started to collect her earlier work. Over the years, been a fan for 21 years now, I must say, I also prefer Mariah's early 90s music. But I do listen to her music after 2000 just as much.

If I had been stranded on an island, I would also have brought the first disc of Greatest Hits.

Re: Mariah the living legend (87,407) (87,412) by Bill from the UK
It's not that she didn't like them per se, it was more that for Portrait she'd rather listen to Looking In. Dreamlover over 8th Grade. She summed it up by saying if she was stuck on a desert island her CD would be disc 1 of Greatest Hits. Vision of Love through to Fantasy.

Re: Missing Columbia cassettes (87,396) (87,410) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway
I have bought only one cassette of Mariah's, and the only reason was so I could listen to Mariah in the car of my summer crush during a vacation in Barcelona 15 years ago. That was the Rainbow cassette.

Re: Missing Columbia cassettes (87,396) (87,409) by Bill from the UK
Try discogs.com. eBay is a rip off. Discogs has virtually everything you could want, and for regular releases like cassettes and CD albums, they are very cheap. For instance I wanted another copy of Merry Christmas on CD for the car and picked one up for £1.

Unplugged starts from 49 cents. Rainbow starts from $8. #1s starts from $6. Prices vary depending on the condition of the item etc., so read the description carefully. Good luck finding what you're missing.

Caution / re-branding (87,408) by Darryle from USA
Does anyone think the entire Caution era is being used to re-brand Mariah, and that a big single or another album will follow closely after? It seems unlikely that she'll release new music soon after Caution considering the long wait for her last two albums, but she's also in a much better place now.

I believe the deal was only for it to be played at the top of every hour the day of it was released.
