Mariah Carey stops by Library of Congress

This time of year, Mariah Carey's voice is heard nationwide in shopping malls, at parties and anywhere else Christmas music is played. Her hit holiday song, "All I Want for Christmas is You", is so popular that it was added to the National Recording Registry earlier this year. And Thursday night, the singer visited the Library of Congress and was honored for that achievement.

Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden presented Carey a certificate commemorating her song's induction. While Carey was there, the library said she checked out the Christmas tree and holiday decorations, as well as library collections and copyright items related to her career.

Even though Carey released "All I Want for Christmas is You" in 1994, the carol still dominates holiday music like nothing else. The Christmas colossus has reached No. 1 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart the past four years in a row, according to The Associated Press.

MC was emulating what a teacher would wear. The two piece dress suit was a popular ensemble for teachers back in the late 80s and early 90s.
