Memoirs now onto Rainbox vinyl (91,241)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
I will have the Memoirs vinyl in my hands after Thanksgiving. I will have a DJ copy of Glitter vinyl this week in the mail. So now I am in search of the Rainbow vinyl. Is there anyone who would be willing to sell their copy or help me locate a copy? I am curious how Bliss will sound on my new Audio Technica turntable and vintage Sanyo speakers. Bliss has to be the best song Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis wrote with MC besides Yours.

You seem to be part of a herd, I'm not. I'm an individual and have my own mother effing opinions. No matter how many times you regurgitate the same nonsense, I will keep posting my opinions, agreeing and disagreeing with whomever the f I want. You said you say things the way you see them, so do I. You conform to a group type of thinking, I don't. I like certain things, I don't like others, and will state it. I never said the concert was bad, or questioned those who loved it, it just wasn't what I was expecting, but I was as excited as the rest of us when it was announced. My post and the "thumbs -up" it has seems to have messed your nail polish, I'm not sorry. I don't have to go with the flow so you don't grow a new wrinkle.
As for the obsession you have with Andrew, you should buy yourself a blond Ken doll and play with it, and once you're done then break it apart.

Bill you are def not one of the three. You’re joke was not with ill intent. I thought it was funny and light hearted. We all joke within reason except the few trolls that post malicious comments wrapped up in comedy.

I see the racist from the UK and Edward are working together again to belittle the St Johns concert audio. I'm sure the 3rd of your clique will follow predictably. Everyone except for you trolls love the audio and the fact that it wasn't dubbed to perfection gives it the live feel we all wanted but didn't expect. It's sad that you all have nothing else going on in your lives to entertain you other than posting bait for likes. I see Edwards response to the racist basically agreeing that the audio was less than amazing with all the likes proves my point.

You can tell that AIWFCIY was performed for the first time because she sounded a little nervous with the intro arrangement. We have never received that arrangement since the St. John the Divine. Overall, I think the whole 2 CD collection is a joy to have right now after 25 years.

I found it glorious, I love how raw it sounds. If I close my eyes it makes me feel like I'm there. I also like how the new tracks flow and feel like part of the concert. Worth my money.

Haha, yes this is better than what I was expecting. Mariah was brilliant, in every way. She looks a million dollars and she was great with the comedic aspect and sending herself up. I really, really hope all this publicity, the deluxe, the new video etc. help to give Mariah a new number 1 with AIWFCIY. No song has ever been more deserving, it is universally lauded and will be going strong long after we've all gone.

I agree totally and was expecting re-mastered, properly mixed, dubbed versions. Had anyone known they were going to need it 25 years later, betcha they'd have produced it in line with JTTW. Here's to a 19th #1 this December, Lambs.

I agree with Bill on this one, I appreciate the concert. I enjoy hearing the adlibs and imperfections. For me the experience wouldn't be the same without them. I confide myself lucky we have this on CD at all and my physical copy arrives Monday, looking forward to the artwork and eventually the cd single. One of the reasons I can't spend the energy being upset at her for having insecurities is because I can understand how she developed them. People get upset if something sounds too edited and they get upset if it's left alone too. I'll be listening to this lots and so glad it is in her Christmas catalogue now.

That concert wasn't recorded with the intention of releasing it either in video or audio form, one track was and the dubbing made it perfect. It's not the same when all instruments and voice are coming together through one single channel and when the venue wasn't suited for this type of recording. I'm pretty sure people in attendance must've had, as always, a different experience, a great one.
It's obvious though that we were expecting "JTTW" type of quality, and for such anticipated release silence on the board speaks volumes. I personally won't be listening to those tracks again, I'll pretend they were not released, just like the R-Kelly and Mary J. Blige collabos. I'm not mad, I just once again set my expectations too high, but just did so because it was 90's Mariah.

I will have to respectfully disagree here. The fact it isn't dubbed to within an inch of its life and is a pure and genuinely honest representation of that concert is what makes it so great. The undubbed Unplugged, MSG and others are so much better because it's not perfect. Imperfection is perfection. The new little ad libs and flourishes Mariah added were great, she was energetic and I love that Mariah put it on the deluxe as is, because no singer could do a concert like that. As was said earlier by someone, you truly do realise just how talented this woman is, and what a God given gift she has.

Is the silence on this due to it being a little underwhelming? A quantum of confusion, isn't it? It's great that we can hear it. But Joy To The World is stratopheric. And AIWFCIY is difficult. She has always had trouble with this song. As with Dreamlover, never comfortable singing it live. The best was Disneyland 2003ish. But St John the Divine feels hollow, no? No reverb. Can't hear the audience. All songs lead to anti climax. It's good. But the expectancy was probably way too high. The Sugar Plum Fairy is genius. But leaving out the First Noel seems a missed opportunity. Anyway it's good. If not great. If not number 1 this year then when?

Merry Christmas Deluxe - the aftermath (91,224)
by Bill from the UK
| |
|
|
Okay. So now some time has passed and I have composed myself, let me give my thoughts. My physical version arrived yesterday, and I was so not prepared for the beautiful packaging and pictures. I opened the digipak and gasped at Mariah's beauty in those unseen shots from the original shoot. And then all these beautiful pictures in the new booklet, wow. It's a great deluxe, and now we have the new unseen footage of AIWFCIY. The original video was probably one of my faves, as Mariah had never looked more beautiful than in the snow running around like a little girl and looking like an angel. She is just perfection. What an era, and how blessed are we all to have lived this. Worth the 25 year wait.

I can answer all of your questions. The version sold in MC's online store is the same version you can find in your local retailer. The online store was like the hook to draw you into the Deluxe Anniversary being released. It doesn't say it on the packaging, but both songs from MC and MCIIY have been remastered. You can really tell it on disc 1. The sound is incredible. Sugar Plum Fairy shows why MC is one of the greatest female vocalist ever. I think there is a hidden track on disc 1 after Jesus Oh What A Wonderful Child. Anybody else notice the second insert with AIWFCIY's chart accomplishments? It is like MC knows this is the year she is going to get her 19th number one Hot 100 song.

Questions regarding the Deluxe Anniversary cd (91,221)
by sally from united states
| |
|
|
I'm wondering about a few things about the deluxe anniversary edition of the Merry Christmas album and hoping some of you may know the answer.
First of all, does anyone know if it's limited edition and thus will no longer be available once the holidays are over? Furthermore, I'm wondering if the version of the deluxe cd sold on the official Mariah Carey shop website is completely one of a kind or if it's the same version you can buy elsewhere in stores, etc. I'm asking because on the official MC shop it is mentioned that this cd contains "rare photos, a personal note from Mariah, and some Mariah-themed Christmas decorations". So basically, does anyone know if this is the version of the deluxe edition that I'd find in a store or would I have to order it from the MC shop in order to get it?

I can't help but notice the omission of all but three of the songs from her second Christmas album on this Christmas Spectacular she's just dropped. I also remember her saying in one of her Christmas concerts something along the lines of "This is from my second Christmas album, Merry Christmas 2 or whatever they ended up calling it." Potentially not her favourite festive moment. I'm also glad she didn't include the Bieber version, but had secretly hoped for a Michael Buble duet.

I don't care if I am sappy. I literally just got tears in my eyes listening to the concert footage. Nope she's not perfect, but she is a music legend. If there is ever a DVD of this concert, I'm snapping it up.
