Re: Grammys (92,543) (92,552) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
Searched everywhere to verify this tweet from a random person on twitter and I cannot find a news agency that backs this up. No mention anywhere.

Re: Butterfly (92,545) (92,549) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
"Andrew"

Who, me? Ok.

"I couldn't care less of what you read."

Well, you *could* have cared less. You could have not responded. Or not read it.

"Your views on Mariah these past years says a lot of you as a person (for a so called fan)."

Cool.

"The fact that the greatest singer songwriter producer in the world says that's the album she is most proud of speaks volumes."

Doesn't Mariah say that about every album she releases? She hardly says "Buy my new album, but it's not as good as the one before, I liked that better. It meant more to me."

"Most people here fell in love with a [sic] image that's not Mariah."

And people who are lifelong fans need emotionally unstable, angsty teenagers to reveal the truth to them, right?

"[S]he [sic] still as talented as she started."

Who denied this? Her output may not be as good, but that does not diminish her talent. Pray tell, where did you hear this, child?

"[H]er album is musically better than every album of the year."

How nice of you to bring up E=MC2. But moving on, Caution is "musically" better that every other album of the year? The *music* album by the *music* artist is *musically* better? In what other ways was it *not* better?

"Mariah won't sell until she travels around the world and change [sic] people's views on her since worldwide media usually only report the bad stuff."

Mariah doesn't sell many records anymore because the media reports on activities which have harmed her image and appeal? Seems to me the answer would have been to protect the brand in the first place. Post hoc ergo propter hoc, perhaps.

"([Bad stuff] sells more.)"

The mystery of Charmbracelet deepens.

"The fact that Mariah sings circles around Adele even today."

Is this a "fact"? It is written like an opinion. I mean, it looks like an opinion, it even smells like an opinion... seems like you're making a "staymuhn uhv yur own uhpihnyun."

"Untied Kingdom most successful artist today."

No wonder the kingdom is tied up in knots as nobody knows who to call the most successful. Because Ed Sheeran has reportedly sold more than Adele.

"Always makes me laugh and smile."

You? The emotionally frail child with no sense of humour or irony laughs and smiles? Well, good for you, kid.

"Erase her past and judge her on today's vocals alone and she is still one of the most talented vocalists ever."

Come on. I love me some Mariah. I listened to 3 albums back to back today alone and had someone laugh and tell me to stop singing Heavenly in the supermarket. But to assert Mariah is one of the most talented vocalists ever at this very moment in time? I wish it were so, don't even care anymore that it isn't so, and, well, just no.

Stay in school, kid.

"Caution lacked belting notes (which I don't really care for)."

This is just conjecture, of course, but I would leave the farm to you and the horse you rode in on about a year ago that if Mariah's next album is somehow full of amazing belts, you would claim that it is, like, totally the best thing ever and you have loved the belting ever since you were, like, ten. Which I am more certain than ever would have been somewhere around 2018.

Re: Tour (92,541) (92,548) by Bobby A from United States
If those type of artists are not her fan demographics, then why does she keep having Trey Songz jump on her remixes and have rap features on her albums? Lionel Richie doesn't have rap features on his albums.

The Marammys (92,547) by Will from Australia

Mid-Tempo: Always Be My Baby
Cover: Without You
Rare: There For Me

Book signing / M&G question (92,546) by Korey2 from United Stated
An interesting thing her team might consider for her book release. Jessica Simpson's new book is being launched with a small book tour. Fans buy a ticket and it includes a photo with Jessica and a copy of the book. I've wanted a photo with Mariah for years now (even considering a M&G at one of the upcoming Vegas shows) so it would be cool to me to know I could definitely meet her at a book signing. What do you guys think? Also for fans that have done the Vegas M&G how long do you have to chat with Mariah and how long does it take to get your picture? They take with their cameras correct?

Haha, it's no different to my attempt at trying to understand how CB is your favourite album. Every time I listen to it or its stupid songs I think of you, so that's a good thing to come from it. I always go into my CB listens with the best will in the world, but by the 19th chorus of Lullaby I just give up and switch to Daydream lol.

Re: Stripped performance (92,542) by Jeff from USA
I love that particular live performance as well. She sounded great and I love the "Who Else" moments at the end. Also, how hilarious was it when she sang, "I don't know the way off the stage... oh." Haha.

Tour (92,541) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
Robert Anthony while I appreciate your contributions on the message board that tour line up is not for MC or her demographic. That would be a great tour for Keyshia Cole or Jazmine Sullivan but it's way off base for MC in my opinion. Mariah if anyone should tour with Maxwell that would grown and catering to the right demographic. Trey Songz fits more of the Chris Brown, and Drake audience. Lionel Ritchie was the perfect fit even though an odd pairing.

I love to see when we have difference views on certain songs because it makes me go back and revisit songs I ignored for whatever reason. Sometimes it works out and I end up loving the songs and sometimes I keep them stashed away in my trash bin. I'm pretty sure people still want to shank me for not appreciating Everything Fades Away and The Roof, but I tried really hard to like them. Lol.

I'm travelling to work and on Close My Eyes having listened to Butterfly from the beginning. And I forgot just how out of place and depressing Babydoll is. It really is a total misfit. Were it not for Babydoll, Butterfly would be a cohesive body of work. Lmao.

Re: Butterfly (92,532) (92,537) by Todd from Melbourne, Australia
I always find it so interesting to hear how one person's treasure is another person's trash. There are songs on Butterfly that I don't think I've given a second listen to - like Fourth of July and Babydoll. Or those Daydream songs that sound the same between Always be My Baby and Long Ago. But then again I think Through the Rain and Art of Letting Go are her best songs this side of the year 2000. So what do I know?
(Wednesday 22 January 2020; 06:45)
Re: Butterfly (92,530) (92,536) by Will from Australia
The Roof and Breakdown were standouts to me where she stepped outside her comfort box. Fourth of July always felt like a lesser imitation of Underneath the Stars, without the same daydreaming essence. Whenever You Call though was the one track that floored me and I had on repeat, even it if is When I Saw You Part II, here it's actually better than its predecessor and I didn't think it needed the redo with BMcK. Outside, again a cheap version of Looking In. Beautiful Ones was a slow burner for me and now one of my faves. But overall when I think of a Mariah album I'd love her to make something now that was similar to, it'd be Daydream rather than Butterfly.

Vegas (92,535) by Bobby A from United States
What is MC planning for this round Vegas shows? I wish she would team up with Trey Songz, Khalid, Ro James for a tour.

Re: Butterfly (92,528) (92,534) by We are Lambily from USA
There is a reason why Mariah find [sic] her most personal album and its [sic] her most cohesive body of work. As the critics, most lambs and music fans love to call it her magnum opus. That album is Mariah on the flesh, Tommy basically controlled Mariahs [sic] sound even though he gave her artistic freedom. Mariah has always loved r&b and hip hop more than pop and that's what most lambs. (No offence mostly older lambs don't seem to get.) The lambs who love pre 96 music love a image/sound Mariah so desperately tried to go from. That's why most people were shocked when came out. But that was the real Mariah all along. I don't wanna hear music Mariah in a way was directed "forced" to make that much even if it's greatness as well which is why I connect with the music after Tommy era more. Because she wanted to be heard. But you are right next album has to be a [sic] uptempo/fun one.
She needs to do Spanish remixes, dance remixes. I feel like Mariah the artist spark is back, and trust and believe her vocals will be 100 times better than Caution. It's still there but she finally found her confidence back and it showed on Caution world tour and her Christmas shows. I'm so hopeful for the future. Mariah is not dumb, she knows the artists that's topping the charts and I don't know why she doesn't use them "Harsh but truth." She has way to much musical integrity. I really want her to beat The Beatles. They ain't got nothing on our girl.

Yes, I would like to see her have bangs. I love her Honey hairstyle the best, but she has some real winners with bangs too. Here's one with curly hair. Straighter bangs.

Re: Roger (92,509) (92,531) by B from USA
She was inspired by those songs and is heard on a demo asking C&C if they're sure their song isn't too similar to that other song and they assured her it was. Since Sony's legal department allowed those songs to be released without crediting. I assume they either didn't see an issue or did but didn't care. As I said in 1990 when Mariah was writing and recording Emotions sampling was in its infancy and if she's sampled a sing since she's given the shes/writers credit.

Re: Butterfly (92,517) (92,530) by Bill from the UK
To add, I never thought Honey was a great lead off single (other than the brilliant video). I wouldn't even class it as an up-tempo. It relies on the slow groove/sample so heavily it's virtually tuneless. Same goes for Babydoll. They're the weakest tracks on the album in my opinion, but everything else is a poetic, classy, and sincere effort. That run of Butterfly, My All, The Roof, Fourth of July and Breakdown has never been beaten.

Re: Butterfly (92,526) (92,528) by Andrew from the United Kingdom
Would you say that, whilst Butterfly is undoubtedly great, it's very... serious? There are no real moments of elation, partying or joy. Perhaps that's why it's not everyone favourite despite its significance. I feel the same about Caution. It's very downbeat but without the totally amazing amazingness of Butterfly. Daydream is great because it has powerful moment of happiness.
