Here's the tea. I had been on X all morning looking for tea and MimiUpdates posted that she was sorry for asking MariahAlerts several times if we were getting any updates today. And just like magic 20 minutes later, MC posted on Instagram that an announcement was coming tomorrow at 10am eastern.

I see your point, Bill. Well, it looks like Sugar Sweet will have all female guest artists. Kehlani posted MC's Sugar Sweet on her Instagram story today. It looks like she may be on the bop. Now if we get Mariah Carey ft. Kehlani and Summer Walker then I would be so happy. Five more days before we get the full track.

Special guests (109,823)
by Bobby A from United States

Shezz, I have 10 notebook pages of research, analysis, and X posts right now. Lol. I don't think the 2nd single will have any rappers as special guests. That is not the trend right now for a pop R&B hybrid song. My top 5 special guests are:
1. Justin Bieber - We need another MC and Justin collaboration. 2. Sza - Every song she releases and is a guest on does extremely well on the Hot 100. 3. Leon Thomas - His song Mutt is a hit on the Urban and Urban AC charts right now. 4. Summer Walker - Her fan base is crazy and her vocals add something great to any song. 5. Usher - He would definitely give MC those female listeners who love some Usher. Plus, his clear and rich vocals make your head bob to his songs.

The problem with Brad and hating ass hoes (109,820)
by Shezz from Pk
| |
|
|
Haha I think I have this right let me try Brad criticized TD and Mariah's choices (as is his right, this is a Mariah discussion forum) I'm paraphrasing but I think he said it's not age appropriate and not quality work. Then another member (I think Victoria - not sure so sorry if I'm wrong) responded by saying it's not his place to decide how women (Mariah included) should behave at what age (as is her right). She went on to say that a lot of people here love to bash M and mock her (which is not too far from the truth but I suppose it is their right) and then I think she implied he was a "hating ass hoe". Then Brad misconstrued a comment from Stacey as an attack on him and then declared that he's packed up his Louis Vuitton and jumped in his ride and took off. Baby he's gone.
Also, excited for next Friday and the "special guests".
Bobby A, name your top 5 informed guesses based on current research I know you've been doing.

Analysis of the MC16 rollout (109,817)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
A summer bop is on the way. There is chatter on the web this weekend that an announcement is imminent next week. The Lambs are not ready for this summer bop. Let's just say the second single is going be exactly what we have been wanting from MC. It is that one more song L.A. Reid wanted MC to record. He suggested Harv to MC.

Analysis of the MC16 rollout (109,812)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|

No mediation from me today. Lol. Since the second single didn't drop today, it will probably drop next Friday. So with my analysis of singles needing at least six weeks to hit that sweet chart position on the charts, MC16 will probably not drop until September. Maybe this is best for maximum album sales because August is to jammed pack with major artists releases. I hope the Harv track has multiple features like Peaches to become that Hot 100 top 10 hit MC needs for MC16 to be successful. A Justin Beiber and Sza feature would help MC on both sides on the pop and R&B charts. I am keeping my fingers crossed those two are on the track. MC needs to follow the Peaches formula.

I think she's teasing a new song and lol it's not about cleaning the house. Lol have you heard 34+35 by Ariana singing "I've been drinking coffee, I've been eating healthy, you know I keep it squeaky" lol our girl is probably singing about her private parts like Ariana as well, because when she's chopping the cushion she's also singing "I'mma give it to ya". Or she's about to drop the housewife's banger for the summer and it is about cleaning the house hahah.

At first I thought oh wow she's teasing a new song/next single. Then it struck me later that it also could be a "mop song" moment that she's making up/freestyling while "cleaning" - "I'mma keep it nice, I'mma keep it neat" could literally just be about cleaning, not necessarily lyrics to the song to launch the album. Confused and curious.

By the way, what does Mariah mean when she says this new project lets her create music freely on her own terms? I do believe this will be the most unmanaged album of her career (it took 7 years to even get to this stage). But I thought she created Butterfly, Rainbow, Glitter, Charmbracelet and TEOM pretty much freely without that much oversight or am I missing something? Even MIAMTEC was probably very unmonitored.
It's like she always goes back to the first three album narrative of being controlled every time she releases something new, unless those above albums (the later years) still had heavy input by their respective labels?
I am low key excited to hear what a completely free and unsupervised (on her own terms) body of work will sound like. But again, then what is LA Reid's role who is exec producing it?

Sorry Randy, I got too excited with the results of my search to realize that was wrong release date. Bobby A. Why'd you use that title? I got all excited like "wait, what did I miss?" But since you brought it up MIAMTEC came out May 27. The original release was July 23 the year before. And I'm glad you all like the album but for me it is her worse. I got it the day it came out and was more disappointed than I was when I lost my virginity. Caution was much better and is growing on me. I play GTFO constantly and even used it on my TikTok as the soundtrack for me quitting my last teaching job.

Just reminicsing about when MIAM came out 12 years ago. I was excited to walk into Target at 8am and purchase the deluxe version. Visionof Love, The Bill of Rights (109,746)

Edward, I like your new photo. When MC releases MC16, I am going to add my photo again. Anyway, MC could sell millions if she released her demo tape on vinyl just as Tommy heard it for the first time. The CD version could be packaged with The First Vision home video on DVD. I wonder if any AR executive at Sony has thought about doing it.

Visionof Love, The Bill of Rights (109,743)
by Edward from USA

Reading about the history of the VOL, I think Bill is right. The song was the first one Mariah and Ben Margulies Margulies wrote together right after she got signed to Columbia. The demo in the video is actually what they presented to Tommy for her debut.
In his book, Hitmaker, Tommy explained that while Mariah was clearly a brilliant singer and songwriter, he knew that she and Ben didn't have the production experience to fully shape a major label debut album. He respected what they had created but felt it was too big of a project to leave solely in their hands. Tommy gave them a shot, but after months they hadn't accomplished much. So he brought in top producers like Narada Michael Walden, Ric Wake and Walter Afanasieff (at the end) to help elevate the material and production.

New album (109,708)
by Edward from USA
| |

Bobby A, Mariah is a legacy artist, just like many others were when she was on her prime. MC16 will probably come and go like "Caution" did. No matter how many appearances she makes, it won't make much of a difference. To be fair, she was promoting consistently when TD came out and, lipped or not, she put on a great and energetic performance at Summertime Ball in the UK. Other than her legacy fans, meaning us, nobody is out there craving new music from her. Her streaming numbers are an indication of what's going on, 2.5M in a month after a 7-year hiatus. As I stated before, unless she comes out with a banger featuring a big name like Bruno Mars, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter or Taylor Swift, don't expect chart success. Always remember though that chart success does not necessarily a great album make. Enjoy the music. Winter is coming.

New album (109,704)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
I think after TD didn't perform like MC and Gamma had hoped they are trying to regroup and come up with another plan to launch the album. August is almost here and it will be September 1st before we know it and it seems promos have stalled waiting for TD to become Touch My Body in 2025. I analyzed album roll out plans and promos for several artists who have albums coming out in August with a definite release date and most have been on various TV programs promoting their new albums. I think Gamma is going about rolling out MC16 all wrong. I hope with the 2nd single rollout that MC is on as many TV programs that she can make an appearance on and start promoting her new album. Just my two cents this weekend.

New album (109,703)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
The new album is supposed to be a summery sound, well July is almost over I wonder what the roll out plan is and I was thinking I really hope the new album and what we heard about it turns out to be like E=MC2. I've been playing the album and it's still so fresh and experimental. Almost every song had single potential. I was also re-listening to For the Record and indeed what a record only MC has a legacy worth referencing in her own song. I absolutely love her doing the part where she word plays her own song titles, how I wish we had a music video of the song with her recreating her famous MV scenes from the songs mentioned. Anyway I'm rambling but yes I'm hoping for an album like that. It's peak summer vibes with songs like TMB, Cruise Control, IBLULT, FTR, Migrate, ITC. Even has the cheesy Love Story and Last Kiss which I know people hate on but I love it.

Unpopular opinion - alternate universe (109,691)
by Bobby A from United States
| |

We all just want the album title and release date at this point. It seems there is not much excitement for the TD remixes. While MC and Gamma seem to be waiting on the stars to align and a Buck Rogers in the 25th Century tv series reboot, Ciara gave a brillant performance and interview on the Today show yesterday in support of her upcoming CiCi album dropping on August 22nd. Craig David and JoJo dropped their beautiful duet yesterday in support of his Committment album dropping on August 8th. MC and Gamma have got to step up and get this MC16 ball rolling before Sabrina Carpenter drops her next single in support of her Man's Best Friend album dropping August 29th.

Welcome to the Twilight Zone, my dear. TD remixes (109,684)
by Bobby A from United States

Not much of resung vocals and new lyrics for the new remixes. The Brazil Funk is the best one. I like that MC sampled Obsessed. Anyway, bring on the 2nd single and MC16. MC has a lot of new album competition each Friday in August from Renee Rapp, Craig David, Good Charlotte, Machine Gun Kelly, The Black Keys, Maroon 5, Conan Gray, Lainey Wilson, Ciara, Mariah The Scientist, Zach Top, and Sabrina Carpenter.

TD remixes (109,677)
by Haiji from United States
| |
|
|
Hopefully these remixes are worth it. When TD first dropped, I wanted 2 main remixes, one with Cardi and one with Rakim and I still want those, but in my head I pictured an all-star remix like Busta's Touch It Remix, so I'm hoping for the same with the God's Remix. Once that drops, other rappers should join and make it a Tiktok challenge. I'm not sure why her or the label thought we needed a Big Sean remix though. I'd rather have Bryson Tiller instead. The DJ Snake remix sounds like it could be a club mix and the Brazil Remix could be a spanglish mix ala #Beautiful/Hermosa Remix. Hopefully all or most of these remixes are re-sung and re-worked versions and not a copy and paste situation.

Justin Beiber (109,679)
by Bobby A from United States

I wish MC would just drop MC16 like Justin Beiber is doing tomorrow with his 7th studio album, Swag. No singles. No promo. Just dropping his album with some buzzing high profile features and a Billboard announcement in Iceland today. That is the way you do it after a long absence. Swag will probably be what everyone is talking about tomorrow. It looks like there won't be any physical copies right away. I know I am curious now what he says on Swag. Could MC drop her album out of nowhere and be successful?

Unpopular opinions (109,669)
by Bobby A from United States
| |
|
|
1. I wanted JD to stay MC's manager longer than he did. 2. MC should have done a complete country soundtrack for the movie Tenneseee. I wanted more songs with Willie Nelson and other country artists. 3. Melt Away should have been a single. A viral moment on Tiktok and vinyl release like It's A Wrap would have been nice in 2024. 4. A No No should have been the lead single for Caution. 5. Cool On You should have made the final tracklist for E=MC2. 6. I love Bryan-Michael Cox's collaborations with MC alone. 4 Real 4 Real and For The Record are their best collaborations. 7. If this summery second single doesn't become a bigger Hot 100 hit, MC16's overall success is going to be very low. I don't know what plan Gamma has for the 2nd single's release, but I am starting to worry now since TD is fading fast in a lot of people's minds.

1. Mariah should've blamed Tommy more than JLo for the Firecracker sample incident. 2. How Much should've been the third single from Rainbow. 3. The diva persona is cute but overplayed and got more and more annoying over the years. 4. GTFO is the best song from Caution. 5. Type Dangerous is a boring song and the extravagant music video is a waste of money. 6. Heartbreaker (not including the Dessert Storm remix) is a far inferior song to any of the previous lead singles. 7. When Hero was considered Mariah's signature song I never really get it. Now as I've grown old I can sometimes relate to the lyrics. 8. Acting is never Mariah's thing. Even her performance in Precious is just average. WiseGirls is better. 9. Nicki is the better judge on American Idol. Mariah's comments are sometimes like saying nothing at all. 10. I'm not really optimistic about MC16 and the singles, chart-wise.
