Mariah, why don't you have Trey sing this song with you? MiTodoChop / Mimi L. (47,768) by 123 from USA You're welcome ladies. MiTodoChop, wasn't the audio awesome? She sang half of Cry live, gave an even better rendition of Lullaby Of Birdland, and revamped I'm That Chick. She has had a lot of good performances, but I'm waiting for the below clip to happen, where she kills it and gives you some effortless belts, which are her bread and butter. I know its coming soon. I also want her to sing a full version of either Can't Let Go or Love Takes Time, but only when she is in good voice. Wish she would have done it on this night. (Monday 3 November 2014; 5:50)

Mariah and Hip Hop (47,766) by Darryle from USA Des anyone else wonder what Mariah's career would look like if she'd gotten to explore her hip hop influences earlier on in her career? She tried to explore them earlier own but I think Tommy pretty much put a stop to that. She's said that the demo version of VOL is more soulful. It's rumored that she hates the song someday because it's not the version she wanted, the one we have is much more popish. The Bam Jam Soul Remix of Dreamlover is supposedly what the song originally started out. Forgetting all of the songs just think of collaborations. Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac. That's my dream Mariah collab right there. She's even sampled their music. With all of this I don't see how people can want Mariah to stop with the hip hop. Mariah's impact (47,765) by Darryle from USA I was listening to dedicated today and I decided to check out the sample "Da Mystery of Chessboxin'" by Wu Tang Clan. I was surprised to find out that the song was made in 1993. I think it's amazing that Mariah had already made an impact on Hip Hop culture and just culture itself 3 years into her career. She was seen as this clean cut pop star and yet rough and tough rappers recognized her. I guess you could say this is almost like a lead up to Fantasy Remix. (Monday 3 November 2014; 3:43)

Letting go (47,764) by nikki from usa Mariah let go of Walter, but some fans seem to have problems letting him go. He's in the past, I say leave him there. His fan club will have to let me know if he's done anything spectacular since Celine's Titanic hit. If a good portion of the 90's he was getting undue credit and money from Mariah's work than I don't doubt he wants to work with her again. But, if Mariah states that she's been writing music and lyrics that Walter had been claiming undue rights to, then I believe her. I've read enough commentary from Walter to see he's not any better than Mottola. He takes credit for "his music", but when he talks about it in detail it's clear Mariah is hands-on and decides what the finished product sounds like. I doubt they had a falling out over one single argument, because years of work/friendship aren't undone that easily. It sounds like there's been tension for awhile. Finally, there was the straw that broke the camel's back. There For Me, Never Too Far, After Tonight. I say if we're going to return to A/C bring back David Foster. (Monday 3 November 2014; 3:09)

"Control" is a funny thing (47,763) by nikki from usa I do sometimes wonder if I'm the only one that watches her interviews. When Mariah talks about "creative" control, it's a far cry from what people on this board talk about when using the word "control". From Missy Elliot to Puff Daddy, everyone says the same thing. Mariah basically does everything, she's very adamant about what she wants, and doesn't want to stray too far from her sound. That's the music. It's different from the business end of things. Mariah was given the choice of lead single from EMC2 and she let JD pick it instead. She had 3 songs she liked the most and he chose. After Glitter Mariah talked about her lack of team and having to make the decisions herself. She didn't have anyone to bounce ideas off of. Mariah has a hard on for collabos. You can tell by the way she talks about it and her "process". She could just hire someone to write down music as she sings it, but she doesn't. You'll notice anyone who has ever asked MC to work with them, she has. All in all, it seems Mariah does want to work with others to create something she has in mind. But, she wants a type of business director who will put her on a path, let her take it from there musically, but decide on singles for her after she's brought him her prized collection. But, to be fair, it's not really my own original idea that our Mariah work with Walter and co. again. I just sampled the loop. Although, I do take credit for the writing I did on top of it and the adlibs I layered and weaved to make it, just so. For the Spanglish AYNAF Remix I nominate Brenda K Starr and Cory Rooney. Of course, Benny Medina will manage all the contractual negotiations so Mariah doesn't take advantage of their generosity and forgiving hearts, after all the undeserved attacks MC's made on their characters and reputations, thorough out the years. Anyone who buys into the ditzy jokesy-the-clown act MC likes to employ sometimes, for laughs and camouflage, and thinks she doesn't turn it off and on at will, is a vapid idiot. That's why I lol at all the artistic, professional and personal advise people can't wait to put out there on the off chance that they can take credit for any future (innevitable) successes. Never mind how well she has done consistently all her life, just by trusting her own gut and intellect. If you don't know Mariah by now, you probably never will. (Sunday 2 November 2014; 17:32)

These are a few of my favourite things, Trois (47,756) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End Mariah interviews the best out of anybody I have ever seen or heard. She's the most guileless artist, apart from MJ, at any given time and as far as I know doesn't ban any subject from being brought up or asked about. Yet she is always so poised under pressure, time after time, year after year. I am in awe of her ability to be so completely naked even as her heart is being broken while managing to actually keep her head and all of her humanity and refuse to become jaded by random critic's fangs trying to soil her integrity with their dissonant howls and rotten bites. Manny, thanks so much for posting that classic MTV, Tabitha Soren helmed, interview. It's so candid, well informed and simultaneously lighthearted even as Mariah was being the consummate diplomat about what all had been going on. It's why I believe Mariah meant it when she said it wouldn't have taken that much genuine effort from Tommy for her to go back, well, at least at the top and middle of their separation. It must have been a bitter pill to swallow how easy it was for Tommy to immediately concede to Thalia the simplest of things he wouldn't let Mariah have, even after 4 years of marriage. I think that's when she realised the true depths of his deception. I think it's a great and emotionally healthy choice and all that jazz, if Mariah has forgiven Tommy for what he did to her spirit. The reputed reason for the fight was Afanasieff's new gal pal, Samantha Cole, who is making her first record under superproducer David Foster. Carey's spokesperson, Leslee Dart, denies that Afanasieff was fired, and says that their dispute erupted over creative differences. "He got mad and she got mad," Dart says. My take on the lip-synching issue (47,751) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines Yeah, Mariah does lip a few parts here and there. And to me, yeah, even for one of the best vocalists of all time, that's acceptable in reasonable amounts. I hate to bring the age thing again, but singing naturally does get more challenging as you grow older, even more so when you get past 40. For most everyone, singing over 15 songs within 2 hours, even with breaks, exhausts their vocal cords. How much more if those songs are vocally strenuous in nature like Mariah's. Add to that a hectic schedule of having to perform pretty much every other day in different countries. In these circumstances, can we blame her for trying to preserve her voice? And anyone who argues that Mimi should be able to hack it if other people her age can do it can please just take several rows of seats because such thing as personal differences exists. Mariah's voice is very sensitive and has only increasingly become so through the years. I believe the reason why she chooses to lip certain parts that she can definitely hit while singing other more difficult parts is less about laziness or insecurity and more about her just saving her voice for the big finish. Of course she could just sing those parts she lips sans the extra embellishments and intensity (which I personally do when I sing difficult songs), but she's probably just avoiding the exertion of too much effort too early into a song. However, I also agree, though, that she needs to work on faking it more convincingly to avoid constant criticism. (Sunday 2 November 2014; 7:50)

The Elusive Chanteuse Tour Asian start (47,749) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines Mariah hasn't toured the world as extensively as other artists, but the several times she did was enough for her to distinguish each fanbase by their special characteristics. Every fanbase is cool, but Asian fans have always been enduringly loyal in nature, and they always go out of their way to create special, expensive souvenirs to give the artists who visit their countries; and with Mariah especially, that's times ten. Maybe that's the reason why she chose the continent to be the first leg of her tour. She knows she hasn't toured in a while, and that it would take some time for her to warm up vocally and confidence-wise. She knew that the oriental fans' more-supportive-less-critical nature would cushion the backlash should she get off to a rocky start, which she did. Of course there's still been some negative press locally in Asia, but I feel the same issue would've been magnified 100x had she chosen to start in the US or UK and mess up there. I mean, if negative word still got out even while she was halfway around the globe, imagine how much devastating the uproar would've been if she disappointed at let's say, the Nokia Theatre. If theory is true, then it's quite a smart move for her to make. She'll be all ready when she decides to take on shows in the west or record her next album, like how the Charmbracelet Tour helped create TEOM. Brace yourselves lambs. I may be relying too much on history repeating itself here but I really feel something massive is in the horizon. (Sunday 2 November 2014; 3:55)

It was just suggested that "I wish that you and I'd forgive each other" was akin to a plea from a "battered wife", if you will, to say "you win, you have the power, please just let me go". In fifteen years I never considered that. How strange a non-fan would show me that. I still think she's doing the totally wrong thing musically and creatively. But perhaps my irritation has led me to forget why it has happened. I'm not sure I have a point now lol except no re-release, no Thirsty video, no tour DVD with the same songs done. A new musical direction, live singing within reachable range, new image. And a new confidence. Shun the past. She's Mariah Carey. Own the planet. Back to the future (47,744) by Andrew from UK I remember when Rainbow came out that the lyric "forgive each other" showed me that perhaps she regrets some things she did and I thought that the most brutally honest lyric she has written. I know this has gotten on to Mottola whereas I meant only to say it's unfair to criticise Afanasieff as he is defending his contribution which can't possibly only be scripting what she sang. It was more than that. But I think it's interesting to ponder if the Mottola control group and its payroll genuinely think of Mariah as someone who left the mafia-style protection and business and was the wrongdoer herself: does Afanasieff "genuinely" feel betrayed? Perhaps it's a morally unfair question but I think it interesting. It led, after all, to Mariah shunning other artists (peers) and becoming self-conscious and nervous. The comfort lipping mentioned in my earlier post stems from this. I wish she would let go, change direction, reinvent, and reconnect with other artists. And past collaborators? Walter (47,743) by Lee TS from USA I checked out his website and he clearly still has a lot of love for Mariah. She's plastered everywhere on his page and he doesn't have to do that. He even included this sweet clip of him and MC working together. And a throwback to the radio interview he gave last year, he spoke so kindly of her. It reminds me of Marc Shaiman describing Mariah equals to music in human form. To me, Walter brings out the balladeer in Mariah even at times she would describe it as schmaltzy.
