About Bill from the UK: I love Mariah more than you do.

London Daydream Tour Attendee.

The impossible (112,007) by Bill from the UK
Nice to see Memoirs get some love. My issue with the album was how Mariah handed the production of every track over to The Dream, so it very much stayed in the same gear, and the finger snaps can get a bit tiresome after a while. But lyrically it's great, her harmonies are gorgeous on songs like Ribbon and Candy Bling, and IWTKWLI was a fantastic cover. Languishing remains one of her best introspective ballads, so beautifully melodic and it sounds so fragile and delicate. In fact the one song that is quite jarring is Obsessed. The opener of Betcha Gon Know is fab, she really does a great job of painting the picture, very visual lyrics.

Wow (112,005) by Bill from the UK
Nothing personal, but I think the recent comments needed to be addressed as they were presented as facts when they absolutely were not. I do the same when others come on here and start making stuff up. You also tried a couple of posts ago to dress me down but it doesn't bother me, nor should you let what I post bother you. To be completely honest I enjoy your enthusiasm and energy when you're talking about Mariah.

And Bobby A and I are tight, I love him dearly and we've never had a bad word between us. He's one of the best fans I've ever come across. We've been friends for years.

So let's move on and talk about Mariah and her great new music she's delivered.

Thank you sir for putting an end to that nonsense.

Back to Mariah, Here For It All continues to be played daily, something I haven't done since E=MC2 I'll have you know. The dreamy 70s vibe is not something I had on the cards when we were all speculating about how the album would be sonically presented, but I'm so glad it did. It adds a whole new dimension to her catalogue.

Wow (111,986) by Bill from the UK
Lol, you keep your little tin foil hat on and keep believing Mariah is being kept alive by a record company if you want to. You're the one crashing out here darling with your wild theory you peddled. I just bought it all back to reality that nobody in Sony is trying to kill her, or indeed is the reason she still walks among us. What you're spewing is nonsense so a reprimand and reality check for you is warranted. Also to add here's a little tidbit for you for future reference:

Distribution of royalties

If there is a will: The songwriter can specify in their will who should receive their royalties. This person becomes the beneficiary of the royalties, which can be the entire amount or a specified portion.

If there is no will: The royalties are part of the deceased's estate and are distributed according to the state's laws of intestacy, which determine the legal heirs based on family relationships.

Contractual obligations: The original royalty contracts may have specific clauses that dictate how the rights are handled after death.

Neither you nor I know what the situation with AIWFCIY, nor any other Mariah song for that matter, actually is - which renders your insane theory of her being "kept alive" as a cash cow null and void.

Nothing but speculation based on no evidence whatsoever.

I wasn't aware that you have seen Mariah's last will and testament, so thank you for the reprimand (it was very much warranted). We've no idea what the arrangements with the song, especially one that mammoth, would be. Royalties may very well go to Roc & Roe. It may very well be contractually she's obligated for a portion to go elsewhere. Just look at the mess with MJ's estate following his passing.

So let me get this straight. Mariah is being "kept alive" by Sony due to the income generated by All I Want for Christmas Is You. I've heard it all now. Forgetting the fact of course that, should Mariah not be with us anymore, more of the income generated from that song would go to Sony as one of the chief benefactors no longer needs a pay out. Honestly, just listen to yourselves.

Here For It All (111,956) by Bill from the UK
She's been blessed with 5 children since then so I don't think a return to the message board is top on her priority list haha. I will text her to say how fondly people have spoken of her though.

Hah, sometimes we speak about her time on the board and she's always been quite proud that she was the first person "run out of town" lol.

Wait, seriously? Nothing for Daydream30? (111,912) by Bill from the UK
Madame, as an example, play Without You on The Rarities. 1:38, the end of the first chorus is the album version of the vocal that she is lip synching. You can clearly hear the transition and change in vocal tone, and the added reverb to make it sound live.

Wait, seriously? Nothing for Daydream30? (111,886) by Bill from the UK
The European leg of that tour, especially London of which I attended, was sensational and needs to be released on audio or DVD, whatever they have. There were tripods set up at London to film sections and take photographs, and Rotterdam was filmed professionally but never released. Japan was literally the worst of all the dates as 1) she lipped a lot of it 2) the upper register was weak and airy and 3) her outfits for Europe were way better.

Some random idea (111,848) by Bill from the UK
Lol, I think we'll all be in the cold cold ground before Mariah and J. Lo ever duet. Mariah is still holding a grudge against Tommy nearly thirty years after separating from him and he was her husband. Doubt she'll let her grudge with J. Lo go considering she doesn't even know her. I really didn't want to type that last sentence.

The problem with every lamb - HFIA charts (111,791) by Bill from the UK
Exactly. Outside of AIWFCIY, I'd be really surprised if a regular Mariah song reached number one ever again. I'd love it as much as the next fan, but let's be realistic. She's tried jumping on Ariana Grande songs and hopping on other popular singer's tracks here and there, and even resorted to having "Mr Beast" in her video. Did that do anything? No. And who cares? Y'all need to put down your phones and go listen to this wonderful album.

Article: Mariah Carey debuts in Billboard's top 10 (111,752) by Bill from the UK
So Mariah, and nobody else for that matter, is not going to sell 10 million copies of an album in 2025. With these "pathetic" numbers she charted at number 7 on the Billboard 200. The album was also not proceeded by any sort of hit single (let's be real here), so to my mind it's done pretty well. I don't see any other legacy artists from her prime time doing similar numbers or, indeed, still putting out new music. Remember Janet Jackson? Whatever happened to her? 10 years since her last album.

How can I get a message to Mariah? (111,735) by Bill from the UK
Didn't any of you listen to Mariah's latest album? She's looking for the dangerous type and likes them dangerous. She can easily reel in a sensible, quiet, loyal gentleman who wants to stay out of the limelight and devote himself to her, but he ain't her type. The whole song is her reeling off her terrible ex's, so doubt anything will change. Mariah's no fool and has been burned enough times that she knows what she's getting into. Hopefully she's just in it for companionship and a good time, however temporary they both know it to be.

Mariah needs to be part of a major label #7 51,000 (111,704) by Bill from the UK
I see what you're saying but it's not 1995 anymore. Everyone who would buy the album will likely add it to their Amazon basket and have it delivered. Even if they did trudge out to a record store especially to buy it and find it to not be in stock, they'd then order it through Amazon. I think everyone who was going to buy the album in the first week would have done so, one way or another. There's not 20,000 fans left unable to pick up a copy. And if they were, it's there to stream. The numbers are the numbers, no point dwelling on them. Let's be thankful and grateful Mariah absolutely delivered with this album, it's the best she's done since Emancipation in my view. Still playing it non-stop.

Article: Mariah Carey says music video coming for Sugar Sweet (111,671) by Bill from the UK
Hmmm. I hope Sugar Sweet doesn't end up becoming the next Oh Santa. It was a fun little ditty that kept up momentum until the album's arrival, but let's move on as literally any of the other songs on the album could work as the next single after Play This Song has done its thing.

My dream (111,640) by Bill from the UK
Thought I'd share with you the dream I had last night about Mariah. She was in the UK doing some promo, and I went out of my way to go to where she was to see her and hopefully meet her. I waited and waited but didn't get to see her, and by then it was really late and, despite it being in London, there was no way for me to get home. So, I settled down outside the hotel she was staying at. At about 3am she came out to escape from everything and have a moment to herself. I let her have her ten minutes, then I tentatively called out to her, explained I wasn't a crazy stalker and that I couldn't get home, and what a big impact she had on my life. She was genuinely pleased and touched, and hugged me when I, through tears, told her how much her music had changed my life and thanked her for all she went through to keep people like me from being gifted with her songs. We hugged tightly for a long time, and then she went back inside. If I never meet Mariah in person, and I sadly doubt I ever will, I'll always have that moment in my dream. She loooed so beautiful.

My Love / "Here For It All" / Daniel Moore (111,597) by Bill from the UK
What I love is how Mariah makes the background vocals and harmonies so gloriously soft and gentle. The "ooooh" during the middle 8 "oh I love, oh my love, only my love holds the other key to me" sounds like a floaty, heavenly, siren-esque dreamscape. And I love love love how Mariah opted to end on a really soft and gentle "whoa" whereas Paul's original ended it with a more belting one. It's like the male and female versions of the song, I honestly can't get enough of it. Thank you Mariah so much for your wonderful gift and artistry and what you have given us with this absolutely sublime record.

My Love (111,575) by Bill from the UK
I must have played My Love about 20 times yesterday. There was a certain magic about Mariah's early remakes - I'll Be There, Without You, Open Arms, the recently unearthed My Prayer - I didn't think that would be present or captured ever again, as it seemed to disappear over time. But wow, this has got to be one of her best ever. It's sung so beautifully, and the music, the background vocals, I can't believe something so wonderful is here at my disposal to enjoy whenever I want. If this is her last ever remake she does, she ended on an amazing high with this. I bet Paul is so proud and pleased with her interpretation. First class Mariah, I love you.

Head scratcher (111,541) by Bill from the UK
I don't understand why Type Dangerous and Sugar Sweet were chosen to launch the album when you had compositions like In Your Feelings, Nothing Is Impossible, and I Won't Allow It that are so much better, different to any other launch she's done before, and better represent the album's sound. It's to the point they sound somewhat out of place and I find myself skipping them so I stay in that 70s lane. I can't stop playing this album, it's so good.

Here For It All is brilliant (111,499) by Bill from the UK
So let's sidestep the vocal thing - I've moved to accept where she is vocally, the old girl's doing the best with what she's got.

Sonically, musically, lyrically, melodically, and emotionally this album is absolutely wonderful. The 70s production and sound running throughout is brilliant, and I wish she'd done that more. At times it reminded me of Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite.

My Love is beautiful, Jesus I Do with the Clark Sisters is up there with her better gospel numbers, especially as it's more in a "You Bring the Sunshine" vibe.

In fact, the weakest tracks are probably the singles. And some songs could do with being a bit longer. It's like this is the daytime celebration, and Caution is the downbeat evening counterpart. Like HFIA is the following day, looking ahead with nothing but positivity.

I didn't think I'd like it this much, but it was worth the wait and I'll be playing it non stop. Well done Mariah, great job.
