She looks gorgeous. I think her face looks slimmer. On the other hand, I can't wait for the vocal slayage in Becon. If she sounded amazing in previous Beacon shows, she would sound breathtaking in this year's Beacon shows.

Okay let's see: So out of the $1000, 150 actually goes to Mariah, 100 for the production costs, 50 for the venue rent and the remaining amount for Stella's Ursula-inspired makeup and her entire lineage following Mariah around wherever she goes.

If I remember correctly, Lady GaGa was named WOTY last year, and that decision by Billboard confused a lot of people as well, even sparking some rumors of payola. Nonetheless, Billboard clearly has its own "criteria", and if it's straight-outta-far-left-field decisions like this that will define this honor for the years to come instead of going with the more obvious artists who've had the most commercial success in a year, then I'm all for it because that means Mariah has a better chance of being honored in the future.

$1000 for front row? I paid $227 last year. 5th row is $800? Seriously what is going on? This is a 70 min Christmas show.

I hope we get a full version of "Christmas in New York" this year. How about a live Christmas DVD from these shows? Us fans would die. If MC releases a new song/album in 2017 then this would be a perfect add on once the album kinda does down around fall of 2017. We need some live television appearances where MC sounds amazing. After my Vegas trip everyone I know asked me if she was lipping. It really shows what people think. If it's not the lipping comment then it's an eye roll at the mention of her name.

I think I got the impression from this article. I skim read it and they kept talking about what her tour grossed, but yeah I guess when reading it properly there's other factors. Does seem strange that she's been honoured in a relatively quiet period for her though.

Lol this title has been through a tug of war between these two for decades now. As far as I remember, Mariah is possibly the highest selling in the Soundscan era, which her team conveniently leaves out but if anyone ever questions it, they can say that it is true subject to the condition.

Before 1991 albums sales were tallied by labels. I read that Sire Records, Madonna's former label, inflated her sales and when they couldn't produce receipts SoundScan was formed to track sales to keep the industry honest.

This will always a pleasure for me to watch. It's great to hear the nominations that Mariah had and her reaction for her massive nominations that she heard live at that same time. It was really an amazing morning for her, I can see her genuine smile. I couldn't be more proud of her, it's a delightful moment as a fan of hers.

I agree. I honestly think that Rihanna have some pretty good distinct kind of voice. It's not great like the divas/vocalists that we know but it's decent, it has its own style that I will say a stand out in her own rights. Her recent live performances are also pretty amazing. She have this unique charisma that let her shine in the industry for 10 years.

Madonna Rihanna (67,343)
by Mirage_Nunez from America
| |
|
|
I'm not trying to be shady (because I have love for both), but I honestly don't understand how someone can question why people like Rihanna and yet praise Madonna in the same breath. Both are aquired taste vocally or artistry wise. I would argue that Rihanna has stronger vocals while Madonna is the better performer (dancing wise). Both are provocative and have pushed the envelope with sexuality, both are influential trend setters of their respective times (though Rihanna is more of a fashionista), both have a great catalogue with monster hits behind them etc. Rihanna is basically the Bajan Madonna of today. Ofcourse with Madonna being the pioneer that has birthed the likes of Rihanna, Gaga, Britney etc. but in terms of talent they're in the same arena in my honest opinion. If Madonna is great then so is Rihanna.

I don't think it is based on gross from touring. "Billboard's Woman of the Year has always represented the finest in music, and the anointing of a key influential figure who drove the conversation for that year." Yes I also questioned why Madonna is this year's "Woman of the Year", it's not like she doesn't deserve it but it will makes sense if she was honored on 2015. Adele or Beyonce should have been the honoree for this year.

I believe this is based on gross from touring. She charges about £8,573 per ticket, so that's probably how she's done it.

None but it's probably for the best because Christmas is Mariah's season and in just a few weeks she will be all over the place and this time in addition to her usual Christmas festivities she has a brand new reality show and her MAC collaboration to promote so I would like to believe she is laying low at the moment to avoid looking overexposed when Christmas season starts. Also she will resurface eventually because her tour is starting up soon.

I like Madonna, I think most of the world does. But I don't understand what she did this year to warrant being "woman of the year". What were the criteria? How was this judged? All I remember of her in 2016 was her crying on stage because her kid ran back to London to get away from her. Something smells fishy. And I'm not talking about the contents of GG's underpants. I doubt Mariah would ever go to anything Madonna was attending. I'm not sure she would surrender top billing to her and if she did there'd be a fight. I reckon Mariah could take Madonna.

Mate, cheer the [censored] up. If you're wallowing in the mire of self-pity listening to depressing MC tunes, nobody's going to be drawn to you and you'll be doing the same [censored] next birthday. How about this? Turn off the ballads, stick on some uptempo songs, Dreamlover, Now That I Know, ABMB, It's Like That, etc., sing and dance yourself into a good mood and plan some positive changes in your life. You're not a victim. Make it happen, buddy.

First off, advanced happy birthday. It's always a good idea to reward yourself by listening to music that you love any day, let alone your birthday. While I do understand the advantages of being signed to a major record label, that's granting that the label completely believes in you and backs you, your vision, and your project up 100%. Otherwise, it's pointless. Given Mariah's recent commercial disappointments when it comes to her releases, I don't think any record label, not even the one she's with now, is gonna be all-out in promoting any new material from her. So if she's really just doing this for the music, then I'd say ditch the label and release the music independently. Should it fall on deaf ears, at least it's not because of some fancy company's false promises. I agree with you. Just release the damn music.

Hye Robert-Anthony. Happy birthday in advance. I just want to share, October 25 is my brother's birthday and on his 12th birthday, my father passed away. I know it is always hard for him to celebrate but I know one thing that he is always listen to One Sweet Day on his birthday. He is not a lamb. He likes Oasis, Paramore and Linkin Park. It makes me think even a hardcore rocker has a soft spot for Mariah. It shows our queen's music has touched everyone's hearts. To you Robert-Anthony, happy birthday in advance. God bless you.
