Angry Andrew (84,801) by anonymous from UK I think I understand what I think you're doing, but at this point, and it's been a long time coming, it feels that you're making yourself ill with all this bile you keep regurgitating. I used to find your messages almost amusing, but now you just come across like the angry drunk on the park bench who screams obscenities at people as they walk by. We get it, you think she's pathetic the way she is now. You think anyone who has a different opinion to yours is pathetic and/or delusional. That's fine. But it really does appear that if someone is causing you to be this angry and hateful, for your own sake it might be best to call it a day coming to a fan site (I would use capitals for the word fan but, ya know, rules and all) and being like the crazy person in the room, screaming at everyone that they're clearly not as clued up as you as they can't see or feel what you do as your perceived reality. It's not a conspiracy, it's not that deep. I'd like this board to feel like a fan site again, and I'd just like to say, Mariah has inspired me in her various guises over the years, and her resilience is astounding. I love you, Mariah. Of course the choreography was set up that way to make sense of her just standing there, and it did work. As much as I don't like her constant lipping and stiff performances, I don't suffer anymore expecting any different because she doesn't seem to care, and if she doesn't care, why should I? If there's someone getting an ulcer for that, it should be her not me. And yes, the performance was visually stunning, emphasis on visually. Re: AMAs (84,794) (84,797) by Andrew from UK Your observation was to excuse Mariah looking like Queen Else had touched her without gloves on because of the choreography, whereas, on the balance of probabilities, the choreography was likely done that way precisely because Mariah never moves anymore. And can you quite believe anybody is having these conversations about the once great Mariah Carey? Mariah Carey, who was the queen of strutting across a stage, the maestra of the run and punching the invisible ghost, the master of the arm-waving, the diva who would point to the ground on a low note then flick it up to the heavens on the high note, that very same Mariah Carey went on the AMA's and moved her lips a bit and her left arm up and down slowly. Great songs and most of all she seemed to have fun on stage and with the students. It's impossible to love her not after watching this. When she says Bill has never looked harder (the big teddy), it's too funny. And the part when she talks to the ex-classmate. So cool. And not to forget the ex-principal. So many great scenes on it. Only thing I can think, but only pertaining to the AMA performance is it prob helped with her standing completely still. Mariah is a master at that. She literally was statuesque. He leg was posed and she literally was like one of those Barbie dolls on her stand. Maybe the corset helps with posture. Whatever the reason, for that performance it worked. I would have been fidgeting and damn near falling over. The invisible chair moment comes to mind too, her balance is incredible. (Friday 12 October 2018; 15:51)

(84,780) (84,791) by Shezz from Pk Yes you can hear a few breaths here and there and a few adlibs but I think it's because she speckled the performance with a few live notes over the studio track. I never watched the GTFO video again but I have seen this one a few times. A few random moments but generally yes a few good steps in the right direction. Looking forward to the album dropping soon. I feel she might pull off a couple of (mostly) live performances of With You during the Asia tour once she gets into her groove. (Friday 12 October 2018; 12:32)

New album cover (84,789) by Bill from the UK The With You video is so good, on repeat viewings, that any one of the shots could make a really great album cover. Especially her in the car. I'd much prefer a still from that classy video over another photoshopped concoction of Mariah's head on a 20 year old's body. Another good look would be the shot of her sprawled on the floor, only in colour as that red dress was really striking. (Friday 12 October 2018; 11:54)

Re: "The Remixes" 15 years later (84,769) (84,787) by Bill from the UK It’s a great album but the second disc was botched. Half of it was album tracks that should have been replaced with the Pure Imagination remix of I Still Believe, finally release the elusive Drifting Remix of Underneath the Stars, and some of those rare DYKWYGT mixes and Butterfly meme mixes. That would have been a great treat for the fans. But no. Slap on Crybaby and Breakdown (not even the extended version). The other major omission was the ten minute club mix of ABMB. I would have preferred that over that lazy mix of Through the Rain. (Friday 12 October 2018; 11:48)

Probably because she was gonna sing live wanted to play it safe as it was for tv, she always does this for tv, there isn't a time when she hadn't stood still, since her first tv appearances she has always done that, only difference is a lifted arm here and a kick with her leg there when belting but that's about it. I'm wondering why Mariah is into corsets lately, does it really help her singing? I would imagine it helps a bit for certain things. She does seem more relaxed when breathing, I would have thought it would constrict her. (Friday 12 October 2018; 11:10)

From all her last videos it is probably the best one, in a way is sad because it is another video without a storyline or anything really going on other than her posing, being cute, sexy, looky-look-at-me and all the shoe fetish party. I loved the part where she has that laced jumpsuit, she looked very beautiful, and I really enjoyed the car takes, it was like a reminiscence to The Roof somehow. I liked the little perks here and there with the camera and the brush or playing with her coat. Infinity snippets really tricked us back then with those scenes of her opening the door to possible lovers and it's a shame it was a lost opportunity for something more fun. I feel exactly the same way with With You. I would have liked the GTFO video if it was a bit more subtle in its take, like Sade's video "The kiss of Life", she could still have had her beauty shots, look sexy and still make a storyline or give hints of what is going on rather than sitting in the kitchen counter for the whole thing. I didn't mind her standing there considering what was going on around and the fact that it was obvious it was live through and through. Because of the layering in this song her choir took over the parts where she wouldn't be able to catch a breath. And is the choir the only problem I found in this live performance, they sounded too low and far away, hardly could hear Troy singing his verses. I really loved that the dancers came from under the dress, didn't expect that at all. The song is beautiful itself, not ground breaking, not fresh, but she sounded very angelical, her voice might not be in the best state but it's very pleasant still. I think she should have lifted a bit more the second part of the song because in a moment it seemed flat but going by the end was great. Looking at past AMA's performances this last one was really nice, in DFAU all she did was walk three steps in a see through dress and nothing else happened and her vocals were ok. In a way is an improvement, but that was like a decade ago. (Friday 12 October 2018; 10:56)

With You video / song's simplicity (84,782) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines Finally, a video that, while still a vanity shots montage, at least looks classy, very flattering, is shot beautifully, isn't a touch-fest filled with supposedly come-hither looks that actually come off awkward, and doesn't look like it cost 10 dollars to make. I'm glad they didn't get a guy to play her love interest, because that would have been the more predictable route. Also nice to hear y'all warm up to With You. There's this reaction of the song on YouTube done by some professional musician or something, basically saying that its simplicity is deceptive - there's actually a lot of thought that went into the production, but all in the exercise of restraint. We fans are probably the last to notice it because we instantly recognize that it's a retread of previous songs and dismiss it as just that. It sneaks up on you, infectious in the least obvious way. Is it so hard to believe... (84,780) by Edouard from France That Mariah actually sang live at the AMA's? I hear her catching her breath, the sound is different when her mic is away, plus some notes are actually different, the way she pronounces the long "oooo" towards the end is different too. C'mon we all know Mariah knows how to reproduce her studio vocals live. Always has. She's that good. It is not a hard song to sing. Plus, she played it safe. May I remind some of us that singing CTL or Mariah's theme (which she recently has) is way harder. For the singers out there, y'all know what I'm saying. With You requires control and breath, hence the statuesque scenery. She was was focused, cool, calm, collected. She gave us a great performance. I believe that the AMAs performance goes hand in hand with the actual video. Pink and b&w. They released them together so that they all count towards the streaming count. Peace.
