Also, Gamma could just be doing the same uncredited guest vocals marketing strategy like Dire Straits did when the band released Money For Nothing without giving Sting a feature credit. Foreigner did the same thing with Jennifer Holiday not receiving a feature credit on the explosive finale to I Want To Know What Love Is. "Mirage" (110,763) by Lambi from USA "Maybe she knows the songs aren't all that." That seems accurate to me as well. She's mentioned that Sugar Sweet was everyone's favorite. This was supposed to be the peak. I hope I'm proven wrong though, and there is actually a song close to a WBT moment. It doesn't have to be as successful commercially, but it can be on par melodically. Sugar Sweet is the stronger of the two, but I feel like Mariah insisted Type Dangerous be the fire starter just because she loves the sample so much. I think she also has a say on which single is going out, hence "releasing music on her own terms". Maybe she did save the best for last, and this 3rd single actually will be the one to swing home the trophy. In the last few weeks before release, she could unleash something that becomes a major moment, fully maximizing the promo. I have a feeling it's the .Paak duet, which she's said she thinks is "really" good. Anyway, I haven't felt this excited about an era in a while. It's very apparent Tommy infiltrated the board in '96 and wanted to humiliate the crap out of her since they were on the brink of divorce. They still objectively did her dirty during TEOM when she blatantly deserved AOTY and refused to give it to her. Though the Grammys are desperate to save their credibility now, they thought making Beyoncé the most awarded in 2023 would reel in ratings, but it backfired. The general public's sentiment was, "Nah, she good, but she not that good." It worked for them having her until around 2015 imho, but everyone truly woke up after she won Best Country Album last year. Everyone thought, "Okay, so sponsored and paid by Jay-Z," which we all know is true. An ode to Tommy and her family who almost killed her spirit. This song showcases how Mariah really had to cling on to the word to save her sanity and arrive to forgiveness. "They have greatly oppressed me from my youth but they have not gained victory over me, in Jesus name, I wish you well" will forever be one of Mariah's most profound lyric about her life. She sampled the word of God. I will say The Art Of Letting Go may be Mariah's worst introspective song. It's unorganized and have no real melody structure. Quite literally a "rant". Stacey I love you like a freeze-pop but Giving Me Life sounds like a Me, Myself and I knockoff. It also kinda irks me as gay slang that she got from Kristofer Buckle. I'm gay yall don't have a cow. At least, I was gay last time I checked. The Distance has real cheerleaders on a slow song? When I think of cheerleaders on a song Toni Basil's Mickey, Gwen Stefani's Hollaback Girl or MCs Up Out My Face maybe. All uptempos and it seems out of place on The Distance. One More Gen is boring, I barely remember it. Eighth Grade's hook is stuck in my head but it's not great MC material. Finally, Portrait to me is the second worse introspective MC song, barely better than I Wish You Well (which I've been telling you all for years is a rant, not a song). She set up this year to be tremendously hyped, to be in the forefront and to win, which I'm pretty sure what will actually happen with this nomination. She should've gotten it a long time ago with Shake It Off, even as early as Honey, so I'm pretty sure they're like, "Alright, let's just give it to her." Since she's never gotten one before. It's too tooo too much. She is already in constant microscrope. If it's not the breast just a few days ago, then the makeup, then the everything, then she's a zombie, and not herself. (I admit I do it too sometimes, it's contagious, so I often check myself, and this is my first and last on this topic.) I feel all this focus on her being bipolar, and people diagnosing her like she's a patient, is actually adding more anxiety. And frankly pretty pointless, albeit "we have the right to post what we want". The negative is too much sometimes, that for some it's all they talk about. In the end, it is her life, she has a new "normal". She has her own baseline of what is normal. She looked great in London, happy, cheerful, she seems to have high energy, walking on her own, interacting with fans, having a time of her life, and the last few concerts smashed. It’s tiiiime... to let the children know (110,570) by Joachim Agerup Løkkevik from Norway I am bipolar myself, and used lithium for two years, but the side effects made me stop using it, it was not lack of energy or fatigue. I have also a psychology degree, so I have first hand experience and academic merits. There are a lot of different medication you can use as a bipolar, but the medications that affect your energy, libido, exuberance, and makes you a "living dead" is the antipsychotic drugs, like zyprexa (olanzapine) and others. Sometimes if you have had a severe relaps like a manic or depressed episode, you can get olanzapine as an injection, or you get another antipsychotic drug called zeplion as an injection. Those medications are administrated once a month, is a so called depot medication, they can have a devastating affect on your mood, happiness, energy, libido, hunger, and the joy of living. Those medication makes you completely flat emotionally, it can give you social anxiety and general anxiety, they keep you in a state where you are just alive, nothing cheers you up, and nothing brings you down, you are completely empty and dead inside, there's not an ounce of mojo what so ever. It's also very frustrating to be in that stat, because you have vivid memories about how you used to be happier, and that makes you even more sad. I suspect Mariah is, or has, been on heavy medication since the death of her mother and sister, which have made her mojo disappear. Even after you have decreased the dosage or auto seponated the medication, it can take months for you to even have a happy thought occurring in your head, but you will get happy again. Using such medication is not a way to live, I have been there, and will never ever again be so dead inside because of medication again, then I will rather not take them. I use orfiril which is a stabilizer that works perfectly for me with no side effects. But be aware guys, after this period with our beloved Mariah be almost a living dead, she is too fatigued to even move around, expect a period from some time from now when she will be exuberant again, and maybe then she will go over the top at the other extreme. But then I think people in her life will keep her out of the public for a short period of time. Mariah was in a manic state at the infamous TRL moment. After her being so low as of recently, it might be expected for her to go up in the clouds as a counter effect in her brain, when chemistry in brain wants to maintain homeostasis again, the neurons releases neurotransmitters to balance the depressed state Mariah is in now. Then she will go overboard, but will retain balance a few weeks to a few months after that. This is the life of a bipolar, I have written two books and a bunch of opinion articles about it Norwegian newspapers. Another tidbit: lithium requires regular blood monitoring to stay within a safe range. Too little = ineffective. Too much = toxic. Lithium is also risky for diabetics. Even with treatment you will still experience lows and highs. Behind the highs and lows is the sheer effort to function and that effort can be exhausting. If you look at Mariah's presentation during an interview, I'd guess that she might be using a medication called lithium. Look it up and see the side effects. She made 2 collaboration mistakes. Stay The Night raw (110,485) by Lambi from USA That is indeed true, that was around the pandemic. She shocked everyone with those beautiful belts. The resonance and the quality were there. But I did ask the same thing during the pandemic because I found her Through The Rain/Make It Happen medley also a little chipmunkey. How do you belt that beautifully raw and sound rough on record? Could it be the fact that the room she was in, had amazing acoustics? It was open and the mic wasn't too close which avoided distortion. Plus homegirl probably slept 16 hours because that was an absolute great vocal day. Maybe she just needs to try out different recording techniques. The belts in that clip sounded so naturally beautiful, little bit of polishing, but did not need to be pitched up whatsoever. You can literally take the audio from the clip and make a stripped version and it will sound like a 2008 remix. I truly believe she still has it. A great vocal day might be incredibly rare because Mariah has a terrible relationship with sleep, it's probably gotten more rare as she ages and as her nodules worsen, but when that once-in-a-blue-moon day comes, Emancipation-riah will be snatching these new pop girlies wigs. Here For It All (110,447) by Edward from USA I have to agree with you about her vocals sounding a bit "chipmunkey" on the belting part of the "HFIA" clip. As for that impromptu performance of "Stay the Night", it was from about five years ago, during the pandemic. At the time, she said she'd gotten her voice back and wouldn't ever tour again, but sadly, that didn't last. I don't think she could replicate those vocals today; her voice is just too far gone. Mariah is a perfectionist, so what we're hearing in the "HFIA" clip is most likely the very best she could deliver, chosen from multiple takes. The Bop That Got Away (110,434) by Lambi from USA Never Too Far was the right decision. If you noticed in the movie, it was meant to be Mariah's "I Will Always Love You" moment, a well-crafted song. Lead the Way was just a background noise moment in the film. Also, Asia ate up Never Too Far. It's still being sung in singing contests to this day. It's simply the more palatable ballad, just sadly released on 9/11, with no push from the label whatsoever. Angels Cry was also embraced in Asia. They chose well. It should have been It's a Wrap, though, to really maximize that era's success. Angels Cry also wasn't a lead single; it was a remix single, a last effort to salvage the album from flopping because, yet again, they weren't banking on Mariah at the end of MOAIA. Actually, as early as the second single, H.A.T.E.U., it felt like they just dropped her. I truly wonder why Def Jam did her dirty like that. You're Mine is good, but this era is when Mariah's voice "got ugly". That's the best way I can explain it. Angels Cry and With You should not have been released as singles over other more radio (or playlist) friendly songs on their albums. They're great songs but they're the type of songs you discover when listening to a whole album. For singles that are going to get airplay you need something that will grab and keep people's attention. When you're on a high point of your career, people will buy whatever you're putting out, it doesn't matter. These days, almost anything can blow up into a forgettable hit and disappear just as fast. Of course, I would like to see Mariah score a couple of big hits, but I'm not losing sleep over it. She's already proven herself time and time again. At the end of the day, the general public has the lard word on what catches on, and that's fine. Personally, I'd rather not hear any more new tracks before the album drops, unless it's a video or some fun remixes for "Sugar Sweet". I started noticing the same negative comments on every single post or article about Mariah. I think it's called astroturfing. We all know what people who are drunk or high really sound/act like.
