Hopefully yall are able to view it since it's on Instagram. I tried looking for it on YouTube but couldn't find it. Not sure if there's a longer version though.

Lara, I think the "I hope that you don't mind" part, to me, sounds similar in tone and cadence to Inseparable from Memoirs, "Got photos of us, on my refrigerator" part. Is that what you are hearing as well?

It's light, neat and sweet. Like a summer hit. Touch My Body vibes. I love that the lyrics are easily relatable. Their voices blend very well. "I hope that you don't mind" part reminds me of a song on Caution but I can't figure out which one (maybe because it's 7 am). I hope that song will get recognition.

Sugar Sweet / Jimmy Kimmel (110,055)

Woke up, said my prayers and went straight to listen to the full song. So the snippet didn't do much but the full song did it for me. Such a nice vibe. It felt like sitting by the beach taking in some sun. The harmonies from all 3 voices blended in so sweet. I like the song structure and vocal placements of all 3 ladies. I feel like this album will be similar to E=MC², summer and club songs, some ballads with few big vocal moments, understandably due to her current voice. I'll take it, though. Hoping for a nice, high quality video with some type of storyline and not just beauty, half-naked shots. Would love a remix with just her and maybe WizKid, Rema or even Vybz Kartel.
Just watch the interview and it was also nice. I get why people would think she was uncomfortable due to the host but it doesn't seem that way honestly. Those who know MC's humor would know she was fine and going along with it. Yall remember the ChattyMan UK interviews during her Memoirs era? The host is known to be vulgar and she was fine with it. I think this new interview was funny and I enjoyed it. I would've liked the host to ask her more questions about the music but we all know Mariah doesn't like to disclose anything new that we don't already know but it was fine.

Shenseea (110,005)
by Haiji from United States

Yes, I discovered Folded last night tbh and I loved it. Never heard her songs fully through until last night and I was pleasantly surprised. I like Shenseea's music as well especially her latest feature with Shake It To The Max Remix. It would be dope to see Halle in the video. Imagine MC using Halle's name in the lyrics since that was a trending moment of showing all the songs that dropped her name. Maybe MC will try to get in on the trend and also name-drop and have her in the video.

Yes, we will. Kehlani has a beautiful voice and her song Folded is her biggest streaming song of her career right now. I like Shenseea's song Work Me Out with Wiz Kid. By the way, Halle Berry just posted lyrics from Sugar Sweet for a call-and-response from Lambs. It would be cool if Halle Berry is in the video. Tomorrow is going to be a huge day for MC.

Shenseea (110,001)
by Haiji from United States

I think Shenseea will be featured mostly throughout the song with no real verse, maybe the bridge, with Mariah on 1st verse and Kehlani on 2nd verse. Or maybe it's formatted with a call-and-response verse where MC and Kehlani go back and forth on the verses, MC has the hook and bridge and Shenseea is also throughout the whole song with ad-libs. We'll see tomorrow.

Do you think Shenseea will sing her part first after Mariah's first verse and then Kehlani? I thought it was odd that Shenseea's name is first before Kehlani's name.

She's a dancehall artist (Jamaican - Vybz Kartel, Sean Paul, Beenie Man). Afrobeats comes from West Africa (Nigeria, Ghana - Burna Boy, Tems, Wizkid). Almost similar vibes but different genres. Often understandably confused with one another since some of Afrobeats influence comes from dancehall.

Speaking about covers (109,972)

What would your top 5 songs, you think MC would sound great covering? My picks: 1. Nina Simone - I Put A Spell On You 2. Out On A Limb - Tina Marie 3. Donny Hathaway - A Song For You 4. Sade - No Ordinary Love 5. Michael Jackson - Human Nature (imagine the vocal stacking)

Everything we know so far (109,962)
by Haiji from United States

Ok so here are my thoughts on everything about this new album rollout. Let's start with the cover. After all 3 reveals, I'm starting to like the all black cover. Seems like most natural one out of the three. Like Mimi stated before, the first one is giving magazine cover and I kind of agree with ADAM, the D2C cover looks very AI and too modified. I forget who here mentioned that they don't care about the cover as long as the music is good. You are right, that's really what matters but hey it's Mariah, we want everything to be perfect when it comes to her. I'm hoping for more bonus tracks on the deluxe versions than just the 11-12. I'm honestly not too familiar with The Beatles nor Paul M's discography but I went to listen to a few tracks that could possibly be the cover song and I have to say, Dear Boy would probably be her best option. I felt like Live and Let Die would be just another BOTHB cover. I can already hear and imagine the vocal stacks and harmonies she would bring to Dear Boy, praying I'm right. Yall might tear me apart for this but for some reason, that 10sec teaser of Sugar Sweet isn't doing anything for me yet. It seems catchy but it's not stuck in my head like TD was with the first snippet. Imo the clip made me think instantly of Stay Long Love You, which isn't a favorite of mine. Hoping the lyrics are a bit mature because right now it's giving teen girl bop. Lastly, September seems so far away not sure if that's a good idea. The momentum needs to keep going with more releases until then if that's the case. Drop an all club versions EP of TD. Drop Sugar Sweet, with a great video and remixes, hopefully with JD. She should go on The Breakfast Club around the time of the album release to promote it. Oh and the title caught me off guard. I wasn't expecting a different type of title compared to her previous. It's alright I guess, it just doesn't catch my attention right away. Sounds more like an album cut not an album title. I'm sure I missed a few thing but I'll be back lol.

I am wondering now if the rumored Bryson Tiller collaboration is on the Amazon exclusive CD potentially being that 12th track. That would surely entice more hip hop and R&B fans purchase that version of the CD. Everybody is saying on the social media JD's absence on a Mariah Carey album is the first time in 16 years. I feel he won't be out completely.

Looking forward to hearing what Shensea and Bryson Tiller bring to the album. I'm thinking she's remaking a Paul M. song as a thank you for not getting upset when she beats The Beatles' record lol it would be wild if she actually beat the record or even tie it with that song but I doubt that.

We have some dedicated Lambs on X doing all of the in depth research. I think the goal of HFIA was to collaborate with new songwriters and producers a genre blending album. Here is what I have found out on X:
1. New producers and songwriters - Roget Chahayed (Jack Harlow's First Class and Miguel's Skywalker), Bongo ByTheWay (Keyshia Cole's Vault and Jasmine Sullivan's Girl Like Me), Alissia Beneveriste (Mary J. Blige's Heart Without Heartbreak from her album Good Morning Gorgeous), Harv, Felisha Fury, Luke Milano, Kehlani, Mikkai Wesley Miller Rae Khalil, and Anderson .Paak.
2. Sugar Sweet ft. Kehlani and Shenseea - 3:42 song length - 07/25
3. The Stereotypes and Luke Milano have track 1. So you know it must be an uptempo banger.
4. The Clark Sisters collaboration is on track 10. I am disappointed that Twinkie Clark wasn't a part of the writing session. Hopefully, she is singing on the song. Mariah and Daniel Moore produced it.
5. There is a Paul and Linda McCartney cover. Maybe it's their song "Dear Boy".
6. There still may be track 12 on the U.S. CD and vinyl variants and track 13 on the Japanese edition.

Cover art (109,897)
by Haiji from United States
| |

I actually agree with this Mimi L. I kept thinking it was an old compilation album cover, like The Ballads or Playlist until I checked and was wrong lol. I just scrolled through IG and the user "itsallaboutMariahcarey" posted a few minutes ago and new album cover with the caption reading "Leaked". It was an all black backdrop and her sitting in an all black ensemble with straight long blond hair. Not sure if I like either cover tbh.

Cover art (109,893)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

Ok don't hate me please, I don't want to be negative Nancy but I'm not a huge fan of the cover art. It doesn't scream I am coming for your wigs Beatles haha. It doesn't scream Billboard count your days bish. The cover art is very pretty but it's something more like for a greatest hits album or "the love songs" collection. It's not memorable like TEOM or even catchy like Caution. Also maybe like a beauty magazine cover shoot. The way they posed the era starting with she wants to get 2 more #1's the album cover doesn't match the vibe. I hope we get some alternate versions too with a more fierce look. Also someone said a few posts back she needs a new stylist. I agree. We also need her out of these huge diamond necklaces and diamond bracelet stacks, they are very early 2000s vibe and it ages her a bit which is crazy because she is at another beauty peak. If she wants to pull in the number she needs the streaming audience that is mostly younger.

Great ear, Terna. No wonder I instantly thought Sensational by CB vibes lol. I hope it is similar though, I love that song. I'm praying her lyrics in this song are sweet and fun and not her being petty about a guy and dissing him. I guess the lyrics could go either way, "Ima keep it nice, Ima keep it neat, Ima keep it suga, Ima keep it sweet", could also mean "don't mess with me and everything gon be cool" lol or am I reaching?

TD remixes (109,677)
by Haiji from United States
| |
|
|
Hopefully these remixes are worth it. When TD first dropped, I wanted 2 main remixes, one with Cardi and one with Rakim and I still want those, but in my head I pictured an all-star remix like Busta's Touch It Remix, so I'm hoping for the same with the God's Remix. Once that drops, other rappers should join and make it a Tiktok challenge. I'm not sure why her or the label thought we needed a Big Sean remix though. I'd rather have Bryson Tiller instead. The DJ Snake remix sounds like it could be a club mix and the Brazil Remix could be a spanglish mix ala #Beautiful/Hermosa Remix. Hopefully all or most of these remixes are re-sung and re-worked versions and not a copy and paste situation.

I appreciate your take on that song, Edward. I get what you're saying. I was around 12-13 years old when that song was released and I was always a huge fan but that song just didn't hit. I didn't understand the song at the time. Now as an adult, I get it but I still don't feel the words coming from that song particularly.

I think "Hero" is not only about a specific element, but a combination of things, one of them being the moment in which it was released. More than the lyrics, which are as cheesy as Regina's cheese fries, it's Mariah's then persona, relevance and delivery that give it that extra punch. The song wouldn't work if it were released today with what's left of her voice and the detached from reality diva persona she's assumed since 2009. To judge and understand Hero, you really have to put it in the context of when it came out. For most, if you weren't part of that time, you probably won't get it. I was a mere 2-year toddler, but I still remember that iconic statuesque princess-like figure singing it passionately and effortlessly at the Proctor's Theatre and the guy from the audience reaching multiple eargasms. It was simply epic
