Tarragan / Charmbracelet-whisper-like albums (45,378)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
Tarraga, I was the one who made the comment. I love Charmbracelet, it is a great album, but the constant whispering was too much for most of us. I didn't make it up, it is what it is. Even Through The Rain, which was supposed to be her going back to her 90's days ballad, was mostly whispered. She wanted to create a Butterfly part 2 album, hence her reference to The Roof on Lullaby. I'm aware that it is extremely difficult to sing that way, but in the right doses I don't mind. Most fans didn't like the constant whispering, that's all. The success TEOM had proved that people wanted to hear her sing, not whisper. The return of the voice caught people's attention. Mariah was singing again.

Marissa / too much control (45,359)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
Marissa, I couldn't have said it better, your analogy was right on point. Some fans don't understand that seeing Mariah go down the way she's going down is painful considering such an amazing catalog. You can clearly see JD's hands were tied from the beginning. His frustration for not having an input on MIAMTEC promotion can be sensed in his interviews. We fans need to open our mouths because if it weren't for us voicing our discontent, Mariah would've whispered her career to death after Butterfly. If we hadn't expressed the fact that we wanted her to sing more and whisper less, God only knows how many Charmbracelet-whisper-like albums she would've had by now. MIAMTEC is great, well balanced, but if she doesn't bring her A-game, we'll be having another album in probably 6 or 7 years.

ss / how delusional (45,349)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
SS has spoken, so now it is time to shut our mouths and go with her opinion. As I have stated before, opinions are like the ass, everybody has one, and so far I haven't ever seen anybody riding two horses with only one ass. Your opinions are yours, and not to be imposed on anybody. Your post was rude, yet you sit on your high horse preaching against rudeness, the elephant telling the rabbit that his ears are too big, how hypocritical. Last time I checked, rule no. 2 for posting on this messageboard "Messages that are insulting to Mariah or other artists will not be posted" was still in effect. By expressing our frustrations, demanding promotion or stating ideas about how MIAMTEC could be promoted we are not disrespecting Mariah. When opinions are so harsh on the nervous system, people should consider a Tylenol. I personally just skip to the next post.

SweetheartAaron, great lyric video. Excellent I would say. Mariah's team should learn a thing or two from you. If I didn't know, I would've thought it was coming straight from the label.

Mimi, Marissa / the witch (blasphemous fan) hunt (45,322)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
There are some fans here that not only expressed their opinions on the way they please, but they also want to tell other fans, based on their opinions, what a fan should say or be like, which is ridiculous. Some of these holy fans don't understand that part of being a fan is not only the excitement of getting great music, but the exposure of the artist delivering it, the interviews, the artist' view about the creative process of the album, the success, the concerts. They think that if Mariah put good music out, and it doesn't sell well, more good music is coming soon. They seem to think that Mariah is going to use her good money to produce music that won't bring her any money back, that's how delusional they are. They think that Mariah will risk going on tour with an album that nobody knows about. If it were for them, they would just post: "MIAMTEC is a great album" everytime, but how boring would this messageboard be if all we can do is regurgitate the same "positive affirmations" over and over again? Drink from the f*cking water if you'd like, if you don't, just don't, let it run. This is not a conversion ceremony.

No YDKWTD audio/lyrics video on Vevo, again (45,292)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
Well, after certain age, many people keep wanting their favorite artists to be successful. Mariah's brand is about good music and success, if it weren't, they wouldn't introduce her as the best selling female artist of all time, or the female with the most #1's on billboard. Implying fans should just listen to the good music and shut the f*ck up is utterly ridiculous. I love Sarah McLachlan's music, whenever she drops an album, I follow her just for the sake of her beautiful voice and music, but she wasn't ever sold to us as the mega star that Mariah is. Yes, MIAMTEC's chance at success rested on #Beautiful, those who don't want to see that should get glasses. IDJ invested on Clear Channel airplay to push it, then the video, but everything turn into a mess. If I just wanted to listen to Mariah's good music, I wouldn't even bother posting in here. Fans are about the brand, the package, not just the good music, unless the artist was originally sold that way to the audience.

YDKWTD / Vevo (45,287)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
YDKWTD is officially a single, and it is so strange that there's not an official Vevo audio/lyrics video yet. They must be playing a radio edit of the song on the radio, but we wouldn't know what it sounds like if it weren't for TheRereMariahCarey who has been posting different versions of the song on YouTube, like no rap, instrumental, radio edit. I think that this is it with this album. #Beautiful seemed to have been the single that was going to carry this album, but sadly we all know how it went. YDKWTD hasn't even cracked the iTunes top 100 yet.

How is her diva attitude working for her? (45,119)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
With all the accolades that Mariah has, being the most influential artist of the past 20 years, having written most of her hits, having more #1's than any other female artist in the US so far, why is she considered to be some sort of a joke? When she came back with TEOM, people embraced her, but her attitude was different back then. I was at the VH1 taping when she sang with John Legend. My friend, whom I had brought with me, told me he had a new respect for Mariah, she was humble and likable then. Now this constant announcement of what she is or has achieved isn't actually helping her, but working against her. She's the only one laughing with her Marilyn impersonation, because most people think she's full of herself, and arrogant. Whitney succumbed to drugs, but her talent spoke for her. Whitney is remembered for being the Voice, even when she died with no voice. Celine may not sell much in the US, but people respect her worldwide, and they would go to Vegas and see her in concert around the world. People don't respect Mariah as they do Barbra, Whitney, or Celine, and that is very sad because she's the most accomplished of all them all. So, how is this diva sh*t working for her so far? The blindest person is the one who doesn't want to see.

Do you remember "The Lambs' lullaby"? (45,011)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
When Mariah Carey was going through tough times and was admitted to the hospital due to exhaustion back in 2001, some French fans wrote a song called "Lambs Lullaby" that goes along with the "Looking In" music. I was going through my Mp3s today, and I found it. I'm posting the lyrics down below. If you would like to hear it, just send me an email to b_terius@yahoo.com
We look at you and see the girl Who lives inside the golden world But don't believe That's all that our heart sees Get rid of your melancholy
You look at us and see the fans Who scream your name, dazzle your eyes But don't believe That's all there is to see Then you will find your dignity
In our eyes you'll always find your soul Forget this burden on your shoulders Don't fear to lose yourself, fall asleep Your lambs watch over you
Release yourself from your own jail It's time for us to give it back to you Turn our love into stability Your light will shine eternally Your smile will be reality Spread your wings and you'll be free

(Re: Mimi) JLo / Luis Miguel and other divas (44,999)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
Mimi, I agree with you 100%. JLo won't ever be musically at Mariah's level, but she definitely projects a more likable image on interviews. I saw her on Wendy Williams, and it was refreshing seeing her genuinely laughing and talking on the show. You would never think this woman has a big ego. What I don't quite understand is why Mariah never put her diva act back when she was hot, instead of now when most people think she's arrogant. This Marilyn persona is getting ridiculous now. Mariah is a brand, that is not only music now, it is a complete package, and one thing definitely affects the other. I'm Latino, and never liked Luis Miguel's attitude in the media, even though I still listened to him, most of my family refused to because of his diva attitude, yes, Luis Miguel thinks that his feces don't stink, and you can count with the fingers of a one-hand man the interviews he's ever given, but he is a powerful and great vocalist, and they can't take that way from him. I have observed that many people didn't buy his music because of his attitude, including my father.

YDKWTD cover / is it that serious? (44,996)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
I'm glad that they have finally announced the YDKWTD as the next single, that's what matters to me. I do care whether there would be a version of the song without Wale, and the remixes. I don't really care about the cover of the single, whether it is being airbrushed properly or not. When I don't like a cover, since it is a digital picture, I remove it from the mp3, and add a picture that I like. I deleted those Candies from YM(E), and replace them with something different that didn't scream I'm a girly girl. I also removed the Rainbow's cover and replaced it with a picture of her face that doesn't scream I'm diva galore. I don't like the reaction of people when they see all these pictures popping up on my phone when I'm searching through music while riding the subway, that's why I use an application to make it look good. I think Mariah is really sexy, but it is getting corny with all these look-at-me I'm sexy pictures.

Daley (re: Carlos Jaramillo) (44,911)
by Edward from USA

|

I bought "Days & Nights" by Daley. I sat and listen undisturbed, and I'm actually impressed. He has, as you stated, Mariahsque inflections in his style of singing. If he writes his own music, he's definitely a great lyricist. I'm so happy to see quality music being released, I just hope people give talent a chance. Thanks for recommending his music, I hadn't ever heard anything from him before.

Best albums of 2014 (44,892)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
I think that Mariah's "MIAMTEC" and Sam Smith "In The Lonely Hour" are the best albums of 2014 so far. Good music is coming back, slowly, but it is definitely coming back. I feel like I'm cheating on Mariah when I indulge into Sam Smith's album, but it is that good. This guy deserves to be heard, so soulful. As for Mariah, as I have stated, it's pure art. I feared for a Memoirs part 2, but she gave us great music.

MCLAFAN honeybunch (44,851)
by Edward from USA
| |

First of all, I'm not taking things overboard, I'm just tired of some fans here telling other fans what to think, say or do. Opinions are like the anus, everybody has one. They are opinions and everybody is entitled to them as long as they are not offensive to Mariah. Let people be frustrated, happy or whatever, believe me when I tell you that the webmaster will edit out inappropriate posts, and those posts disrespecting Mariah won't be posted. This messagaboard has been this way for 16 years, and that's what makes it unique. We can be happy, frustrated, euphoric, but we can also be realistic and express our opinions about what we like or not about Mariah's music. We don't just hold hands and praise everything Mariah here, we have concerns and opinions that we cannot express anywhere else without being stoned to death. If you don't like a post, don't read it, as simple as that.

Negative comments on the messageboard / please stop (44,841)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
Since we need to be positive, and more than positive, real lambs, we need to start discussing positive things about this era and Mariah, like: How great the promotion for MIAMTEC has been, and how Mariah posts pics on Instagram, but doesn't say anything about what's going on. To follow the positivity of my fellow real fans, or should I say lambs? Today I got the wonderful Lollipop Bling perfume, and 20 bottles of the Butterfly drink, yes, that drink that talks to you when you drink it and tells you what is going on with promotion, and when a new single will be released. As real lambs, it's imperative that we all buy many copies of the nail polish today, that's very positive and engaging. It is very positive to paint our nails in different colors. And for those negative fans that won't stop talking about Mariah's voice and such, you should be ashamed of yourselves, just like our beloved Isaac Ortiz once said, the voice is there just like the first day, you should all clean your ears, how dare you talking about laser treatment? And last but not least, as a real and positive lambs, you should know that Migrate should've been a single, thank God I remembered that one, only positive and real lambs like me know that one.

Carlos Jaramillo / that Mariah (44,819)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
Carlos Jaramillo, what you stated on you post was so on point. Little did we know. She looked so confident in that video because she knew she had it (the voice). She could've put a diva persona back then because she actually had her voice to back it up, but she didn't. That's why, at this stage in her career, I don't understand the diva attitude, the dahlings, her inability to compliment another artist (Ariana) who has praised her on almost every interview. The shine she had on that video has been lost, and I'm so sorry for her. It was really about the music/voice back then. Not big boobs, not gimmicks, just her voice. It was easier to cover things up back then too, but now with a camera on virtually every phone, anything can be easily exposed.

The voice / the procedure / this is not 1997 (44,818)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
Adele, Justin Timberlake, Nathan Sykes, Steven Tyler, just to name a few, have had nodules removed with the new and accurate Green Light KTP laser. Julie went under the knife, and they mutilated part of her vocal chords back in 1997, but we are in 2014, and with the accuracy of laser technology, I don't think that would happen to Mariah. I just think that she doesn't want to lose the whistle register by getting her nodules removed. Over singing damage her voice, she was only 27 and without many world tours when she started having problems, so obviously her life style change, after she broke free from Tommy, had a huge impact on her voice (yes, weed, alcohol, smoke, lack of sleep affect the voice). I don't blame her for enjoying life and doing certain things young people do, but her instrument definitely and evidently suffered for it.

Where is Mariah to defend JD? (44,724)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
When things don't go the way the fans expect, we tend to blame everybody but Mariah. e.g., "Randy" isn't doing anything for her, he isn't a manager. When Mariah chose "The Dream" to produce most of MOAIA, fans lashed out blaming him for its ill fate, then he lashed out at the fans calling us ungrateful, stating he had enslaved to Mariah so she deliver the product (and knowing our diva, I believe him). If one of her videos is whack, God forbid Nick is anywhere near. Now the fans want to lynch little "JD", literally. But, who is the common denominator in all of this? Well, it is our dear and beloved Mariah Carey. Obviously she doesn't want to delegate control or hire anybody who could tell her: either you adhere to the plan, or we're done. I like JD, but just like The Dream has his ass whooped by the fans, now he is getting his whooped beautifully too. Just like Mariah didn't stand for The Dream, she won't for JD either, and it is sad, because if JD is right, she should at least tell us to be patient, that something is being worked on, without going into specifics. I think it is time for her delegate some control to professionals who studied hard for it. You just don't drink some Butterfly pink drink and turn into a seasoned manager. And don't worry, I'm already hanging off my cross, waiting for the nails to be put on my wrists.

Joe, in the middle of all this mess, we have to laugh a little. At this point most of us have expressed our frustrations about what's going on with Mariah and the promotion for this great body of work. I'm one of her remaining fans, but I'm not buying a pink bottled water, even it is brought to my door. I would say: Thank you, I'm not "Thirsty". Most likely by the time Mariah is in shape for the YDKWTD video, the album will be out of the Hot 200.

Stephen, did you really think I bought the Butterfly Water? It seems to be my sarcasm is not coming across in some of my posts. I love Mariah's music, and I've had some of her tour stuff, but none of the other stuff like perfumes, waters, panties, and other nonsense. I am happy with the music on MIAMTEC, but very disappointed with the .essthis has been.

The Butterfly water and the Unicorn too (44,669)
by Edward from USA
| |
|
|
I just bought the Butterfly water, and when I removed the bottle cap, three butterflies came flying out of the bottle singing "I'm thirsty" in unison. At the store they told me that she's releasing the Unicorn and the Rainbow waters soon. I can't wait to see a Unicorn for the first time. Go buy multiple copies of the Butterfly water, it is to die for. I just hope she doesn't release the JD's water, because I would hit him in the head as soon as he comes out of the bottle with his annoying "Y'all know who this is".
