About Tijl from Belgium: Enchanted by Mariah ever since 'Butterfly' dem Gucci heels in the pool!!!

19th #1 (91,672) by Tijl from Belgium
She did it.. Another world record for Mariah. Her PR team really upped their game this season which has surely helped tremendously. What a fantastic year for our girl.

Re: Merry Christmas (91,638) (91,645) by Tijl from Belgium
I believe she has found some peace within herself. During the Stella era she was "off". If one watches her interviews during that time, her eyes are empty and dead. No wonder because that leechy creature was exploiting her into shreds. And I am rather certain that Tanaka makes her feel confident as he seems to be a nice guy who genuinely cares about her for the human being and not only the global superstar she is.

Re: Get off auto pilot, Mariah - keep creating (91,427) (91,431) by Tijl from Belgium
She might just be tired of playing the game after 30 years in a very demanding business, always defending oneself. She is still standing yet plays it by her own rules by now. It is not as she could become a non-celebrity all the sudden. At times it must feel as being trapped on a treadmill. Used to a particular lifestyle with both the benefits and the entrapments that come with it. Respect.

Caution's anniversary (91,357) by Tijl from Belgium
Today marks the first anniversary of Caution, an album that caused ambiguous reactions from the Lambily. Critically acclaimed yet underwhelming on a commercial level it has grown to become a personal favourite. Mostly because it tells the exact story of my last year so it has a very special place in my heart.

Re: No official live performance during Butterfly era (91,342) (91,349) by Tijl from Belgium
She did perform a few songs from the album on the Rosie O'Donnell show. This is my absolute favorite one.

Walkers' campaign (91,161) by Tijl from Belgium
On the lighter side of life - let's stop the mud throwing on here - who else is excited about Mariah's campaign for Walkers' ? I am convinced it will help catapult AIWFCIY to the #1 spot in the UK.

I am really sorry to hear that. Take care and most importantly take care of yourself. All the best.

Re: About siblings (91,023) (91,024) by Tijl from Belgium
The relationship with our true self is the most important one in our life. If it requires to cut out people in order to remain healthy and happy, so be it. I can only respect Mariah for doing exactly that. We don't know what happened so who are we to judge her? There are people in the world who are simply toxic, soul vampires that crave on others. Unfortunately I have lived it.

Re: Celine Dion (90,955) (90,960) by Tijl from Belgium
Céline Dion is very MOR. She makes schmaltzy music that appeals to every suburban housewive around the globe; without risk or soul. Mariah is in a very different league. I would have to get paid to go and see Céline in concert. I would pay to hear Mariah read the phonebook. Two professionals albeit from a very different universe.

Memoirs (90,938) by Tijl from Belgium
I can hardly believe it's already been a decade since MC released "Memoirs". An album that feels like reading somebody's diary. A shame it didn't perform as well at the time so the "Angel's Advocate" project never saw the light of day. I still love the Jump Smoker's remix to H.A.T.E.U.

Would you guys consider TAOLG a diss track? "Go to Mimi on your contacts, press delete."

Re: Mariah's best disses (90,907) (90,911) by Tijl from Belgium
1. GTFO: Nobody has ever sung "get the f##k out" in such a sweet and gentle voice.
2. Obsessed: "Got you all fired up, with your Napoleon complex. Seein' right through you like you're bathin' in Windex." Not to mention the very sarcastic video.
3. UOMF: "Pretend you on the sofa and I'm on the TV. Might see me on a poster, see me at a show but you won't see me for free." I loved the idea of the video starting with MC and Nikki as dolls in a box (she sings). That should be official merchandise lol.
4. A No-No: "He's a slut, he's a hoe, he's a freak." Not her lines but the message is out.
5. Clown: "You don't want the world to know that you're just a puppet show and the little boy inside often sits at home alone."

Honourable mention for ILT: Not a diss yet fabulous. "Them chickens is ash and I'm lotion."

Re: Heartbreaker at 20 (90,871) (90,872) by Tijl from Belgium
The budget was huge and "Heartbreaker" is still in the top 10 of the most expensive videos ever made. Why? The rental of the cinema at 100.000 dollars for one day only. Apparently the fee to hire Jerry O'Connell was very high because they had to recast at the very last minute and the animated sequence was rather costly as well. Furthermore there are two versions of the original version with different scenes in which Jay-Z does appear and a mansion was rented to shoot his scenes. A great video but one wouldn't imagine it to be that expensive.

Re: In The Mix (90,852) (90,855) by Tijl from Belgium
Hello Randy, I gave it a few runs and I did try to get into it. Underwhelming in my point of view but it is not an "official" MC single either.

Re: Sorry guys (90,816) (90,828) by Tijl from Belgium
I have always had a weak spot for "Sweetheart" as well. Plus, she looks incredible in that video.

Re: It's not just Glitter (90,780) (90,785) by Tijl from Belgium
Nine movies? Which ones?

I absolutely adore Mariah as a singer and songwriter but she should stay away from acting. In most cases she merely played a version of herself with "Wisegirls" being the most significant role compared to the cameos in "SP2", "Zohan" and "Girls Trip". Her part in "Precious" was minor and overrated. I am not a hater but a realist. Where is Andrew when you need him?

Glitter aka another disaster movie (90,759) by Tijl from Belgium
I just rewached "Glitter" last night and well... it is still a bad movie. Not the atrocity the press made it seem to be at the time yet a missed opportunity.
1. Mariah wasn't ready to be a lead actress and to carry (pun unintended) an entire film.
2. The script is full of mistakes and is geared towards teenagers.
3. There is absolutely no chemistry between MC and Max Beesley.
4. The '80s revival started over a decade later hence the nostalgia had little to no relevance at the time.
5. The production values were of inferior quality.
The soundrack however still rocks.

Which visit to the Ellen show are You referring to? I don't think I have seen it.

Re: Caution (90,739) (90,740) by Tijl from Belgium
It is just another era. People hardly ever purchase physical copies of an album. Most just stream the particular songs they like and that is about it.

Re: Mariah and Ellen (90,726) (90,731) by Tijl from Belgium
I always had the impression that Ellen and Mariah got along rather well. Mariah has been to Ellen's birthday parties and such. Anyway, these shows are scripted and hardly ever spontanuous. Furthermore, it is the Ellen show and clearly Ellen has to be the funny one. It is all a bit boring in the end. I prefer the snippets with Andy Cohen to be honest. Less staged and more of a nighttime television vibe. As well, I guess Mariah is no longer pushed to do all of these interviews for publicity as she used to. I can imagine it becomes tedious to answer the same bullsh#t over and over. Watch her on the Genius interview. She is so funny, humble and real there because it is about her artistry and not some random hello - this is my new movie/ book/ album/ perfume/ other crap - goodbye and up to the next guest.
