About Tijl from Belgium: Enchanted by Mariah ever since 'Butterfly' dem Gucci heels in the pool!!!

Re: Videos (90,719) (90,724) by Tijl from Belgium
I don't dislike the video of GTFO but regarding the lyrics the concept could have been pulled in a direction beyond vanity shots. Love, love, love the song as an anthem though.

Re: Videos (90,712) (90,715) by Tijl from Belgium
Interesting how people don't like the video to Triumphant. I find the "golden" look of the video very glamorous, especially the finale. It was very well produced. Maybe most fans just don't care for the song hence the video wasn't well received either.

Re: Heartbreaker question (90,697) (90,698) by Tijl from Belgium
It was a cute video and one of the most expensive to be ever made. Personally I favour the videos for ILT and WBT: beautifully shot, expensive and stylish looking with a story arc that made sense. Not to mention the momentum of her big return to the highest echelon in pop music.

Indeed. I forgot about the running in the Butterfly video. Actually that is a beautiful and poetic video. I wish she would do these videos with a narrative again.

Bizarre campaigns (90,681) by Tijl from Belgium
That ad was completely bonkers. Especially the part where Mimi starts to run looks very fake. I don't think I have ever seen her run lol.

Re: The Bedford Mansion (90,673) (90,674) by Tijl from Belgium
Hello Dennis, I believe the 20th anniversary special edition of the LP features notes from MC mentioning the story about the fire. I just can't seem to find images of the inlay. But I am sure I have seen it. Shame I don't own that particular edition.

Re: The Bedford Mansion (90,670) (90,671) by Tijl from Belgium
The mansion burned down years ago. I believe it happened in 1999. In the fire between all the debris Mariah found the only remnant of the fireplace; an ornament adorned wih a butterfly. She has written about this in one of the CD inlays. I just can't remember which one.

She was. The current implants are a tad too big as well, in my opinion.

I looooved that look on her. Everything from the Butterfly era was iconic.

Re: The new Jerry O'Connell show (90,521) (90,522) by Tijl from Belgium
I don't care if she had 5, 10 or 20 relationships. It's not relevant to her being a creative artist or not. There is so much (social) media these days and they all try to stand out with nonsense news in an attempt to get noticed. It's all about superficial clutter slowly numbing the audience and I find it very boring yet disturbing. I miss the days when all that really mattered was the artistry and creativity. Of course there have always been non-talents doing watever it took to get some crumbs of the spotlight but being adored for being a nobody has become the norm these days. During the '80s and '90s Princess Diana was the most famous woman in the world followed by Victoria Beckham in the '00s. Now we have Kim Kardashian. See the decline? - sigh -

No more Christmas albums please. She wrote a modern classic with AIWFCIY and will never surpass that.

Give me the name of another artist who blocked their own single becoming #1 because he or she already had a #1 simultaneously. Okay, case closed.

Re: Fly abandonedly into the rainbow (90,427) (90,429) by Tijl from Belgium
I don't mind the song at all and MC is very much entitled to name a song about persistance and being strong Mariah's Theme. It's just that the videos were so schmaltzy and not very well made. I can imagine though that many a fan found strength in the lyrics of CTTA.

I feel you Andrew. The day of the Antwerp concert in 1999 (don't mention our age) of the Rainbow tour I was so excited. I couldn't believe I was going to be in the same space as my idol. A shame though that the first concert of the European leg was such a mess. She was two hours late and most of the props needed on stage hadn't arrived from the US yet. But I couldn't care less at the time despite it not being a great concert. But she did redeem herself with the stop of the Charmbracelet tour in Rotterdam in 2003. That show, despite being on a much smaller scale, had very high production values and her voice was on fire that night. I wish I could see her in Vegas one time but my bank manager begs to differ. For now.

Re: Fly abandonedly into the rainbow (90,416) (90,417) by Tijl from Belgium
Hey Bill, TAAO remake with Westlife was a clever action but limited to the UK. On the continent the original album version was released and had some moderate success in a few countries but for the remains of the singles everything fell flat. And the European tour didn't receive great reviews either. I believe she was very disappointed with the lack of support by Sony and she started to work herself into the ground trying to make the best of it, leading up to the Glitter fiasco.

Re: Fly abandonedly into the rainbow (90,406) (90,414) by Tijl from Belgium
The promotion of Rainbow was a mess because of the strained relationship with Sony. Heartbreaker got a strong launch with a very expensive video but after that it went downhill. I saw the first concert of the European leg of the Rainbow tour in Antwerp and in all honesty it was a mess. I really believe she loved the album but the difficult situation with the powers that be had the momentum fading out quickly. After TGIFY none of the other singles received any decent promotion.

Re: Fly abandonedly into the rainbow (90,396) (90,401) by Tijl from Belgium
Mariah's own words on the production of Rainbow: "I love New York. But if I'm there, I want to go out, friends come to the studio, the phone rings constantly. But in Capri, I am in a remote place, and there is no one I can run into. I felt that in Capri I would be able to effectively finish the album on a shorter schedule. And I did. I made it in three months, I was like 'Get me off this label.' I couldn't take it. The situation there [Sony] was becoming increasingly difficult."

Re: Fly abandonedly into the rainbow (90,363) (90,368) by Tijl from Belgium
Wasn't the production of Rainbow rushed to finish of her contract with Sony? I also understood that lots of the initial material for "All that Glitters" was later used on Rainbow. To me the album isn't very coherent and I hardly ever listen to it these days. Heartbreaker remains an iconic MC song though.

Re: 4th of July revisit (90,356) (90,360) by Tijl from Belgium
It's is the best song she has ever written. Most people will remember the impact of WBT because of the comeback factor but TR is so much more powerful. As you mentioned, the longing to a passed moment of bliss is what it makes so poignant. Over the years my favourite songs have shifted but this one never fades in strength or message.

The interview is what the reporter put down on paper and his or her perception of what happened in that room. By the way, it's Cosmo not Time magazine.
