There are subtle talking noises after she sings "Someone said that that's tough". I'm hearing "Oh (pause) that's deep" (or oh, MC). It sounded like a guy's voice. What do you hear? Anybody else hearing it too?

The avalanche of reviews are crazy. It's so cool to see everyone come out of hibernation and be united. I truly didn't realize how many lambs are actually here. It almost feels like a pep rally where you see every single student in your class that you won't normally coincide with anywhere, until the rally. I love how we all show up for our girl, Mariah. It's simply beautiful.

An ode to all of us (111,532)

"Rainbows will always remind you of me Please remember to look for them diligently And save a prayer, cause covenants are real, believe in things unseen But if you leave, just whisper something softly to the wind you want Mariah to hear"
Are we nearing the end? What is this MC? I cried with the thought of Mariah saying her final words. I genuinely feel so unsettled.

I'm glad we finally found common grounds, Randy. Even though I felt I already did a long time ago, I've agreed with a lot of your opinions.
But yeah, definitely don't let these journalists gaslight you. The whole agenda is to present fair but actually there's hatred behind their articles. It's so unbelievably fake and predictable.

Lambi, this scares me. We have never agreed on anything. When he pulled out Save the Day and Heavenly as hits to compare her current songs to, I threw the whole review away. And now you and I have agreed on something.

Queen of discretion (111,472)
by Lambi from USA

I thought Mariah would be more candid and talk openly about her life since she's released a whole memoir, literally everything is already on the table. But maybe the lawsuits, the guilt and all the emotions that came after releasing it, made her go back to just not saying much.
It's always middle of the road. We really kind of just get surface level answers. It's starting to be uninteresting and predictable.
I was really expecting more raw interview answers like these. I thank God I downloaded the full hour interview before it got taken down.

I almost fell for it because the writer seemed like a lamb. He even knows Mariah's lingo "just for laughs" or "just for the nostalgia". But the main giveaway that he's actually a hater is him randomly referencing Save the Day and Heavenly (her worst songs). Like, girl, why would you do that? Out of all the phenomenal songs in Mariah's catalogue, those are the two you choose to highlight? LMAO.

That's such a strange criticism because, to me, the songs seem more solid than the ones on "Caution". The ballads "Nothing Is Impossible" and "Here For It All" sound much stronger than "Portrait" based on the clips I have heard. Other writers are complaining that she seems "too relaxed", as if that's a bad thing? Maybe Mariah's tired of the drama and just wanted to put together an album that was fun and healing for her? She's been working like a dog the last year or so, and she's clearly exhausted.
But ultimately nitpicking is what critics do to line their resumes and earn their living, so we really should take it with a grain of salt. The reviews for "Butterfly" on its initial release in 1997 were not amazing, but it went on to be considered her best album by many. I know we don't like Tommy, but he was right when he said "don't pay so much attention to what they write because it will be used to wrap fish the next day".

Excerpts from GQ (111,418)
by Lambi from USA
| |
|
|
"In another class from those ladies... you couldn't walk a mile in my shoes" over a taut hip-hop beat on the opening track "Mi".
I wonder if she had Nick's out-of-wedlock baby mamas in mind.
"Seemed like I'd never rise again... haunted by desperation and long harrowing nights" on the ballad Nothing is Impossible.
My gosh, she is rather raw and real on this one. I cannot wait to hear. Probably will be my new anthem.

Very true. Some singers can be technically perfect but lose quality in certain registers. Mariah in her tired, dried, hoarse voice is still somewhat palatable. Her tones are uniquely hers and truly a godsend.

This is what is going on with Mariah's voice. Firstly, her pitch is as always, technically perfect which enables her to sing in different keys while staying melodious.
Her problem in her latter years has been breath control. She doesn't take in enough oxygen (and wears tight clothes that constrict her chest) these days to sustain notes and sing with power. I think she just needs to do lots of breathwork to improve her oxygen capacity and she'd be back to normal.
Mariah's "loss of breath control" is still leagues above the vast majority of singers though. She's lucky her voice just sounds nice too. Many people can technically sing but their voices don't sounf pleasant. Thinking of for example Christina Aguilera.

Great observation. I get exactly what you're talking about. To me, she's always gone back and forth, not just with falsetto, but overall. Her tone on Music Box (especially in Without You) was deep, rich, and mature. Then on Daydream, you suddenly hear a brighter, more developed tone, subtly more feminine. By Butterfly, she fully embraced that feminine sound.
Then you get those deep, rich tones again in 2003 (You and I), and by 2005 (Stay the Night), she's hitting those stratospheric, bright belts.
With this upcoming album spanning seven years in the making, it'll be interesting to see which facets of her voice show up. I have a feeling it'll be a mix of MIAM and Caution, and I'm already hearing hints of E=MC².
This is why I think her instrument is such a freak of nature. You just never know what you're going to get.

This may have already been discussed here but I haven't seen it in my search. What is up with Mariah's falsetto this era? Like on Sugar Sweet; the few lines before the chorus that begin "Hate it when you have to leave..." sound so unpleasant, especially on the pre-recorded live vocals version she used at Brighton, Sandrigham, VMA and iHeart performances. I have said this before but even on non-falsetto notes, there is something about her vowel sounds on the upper notes that sounds painful. Mariah's voice used to sound full and mature, she used to sing like a woman beyond her years with resonance, now she has gone the opposite way. There is something child-like about how she sings now and it doesn't sound as full as it once did. I'm not describing this at my best but I'm hoping there are vocalists here who understand what I'm trying to say and can hazard a technical explanation of the difference i'm hearing as a non-singer. It sounds like all the vocals are coming from her throat/nose area as opposed to her chest and when she is belting, it sounds the same just louder.

I like the fact that MC is finally stepping out of her box. MC knows whatever SZA writes and sings on reaches this generation of young people and becomes a hit. Sza's and MC's comical and shady lyrics are very similiar. I would like to think that my tweet back in June to MC, Sza, and Rodney Jerkins initiated a collaboration. I forgot to retweet it myself to see how many people viewed it and let me review the engagement data.

Thank you, lamb. If you haven't already, read Hollywood Babylon, it reveals the roots of Hollywood and shows that what happened to Mariah in 2001 wasn't unique. Celebrities have always been exiled in similar ways. The industry follows the same playbook over and over. The book itself was banned for a reason, it exposes too much. And for the record, I don't take offense when people think "crazy". I'm simply armed with more information. I also don't fault anyone for not being able to keep up. We simply have different interests. I post what I believe to be true anyway, and I try to back it up with facts and elaborate on how I arrived at that conclusion. I didn't pursue law full-time as billable hours are hell, but my investigatory hat is always on, especially when it comes to Mariah. I really appreciate this kind gesture, Chris. I'll be in touch soon.

Honestly I guess family completely steered me away from it too. They considered it "new age". While I of course, am middle of the road with astrology, in terms of belief, I just think it's such a cool thing to be well-verse on these days. Everyone literally asks about your sign, it's really a great conversation starter. I'm glad you kept your interest. I just looked up my birthday and it said:
• Highly intuitive and perceptive They have a sixth sense for reading people and situations. Nothing really gets past them. This makes them hard to fool, and terrifying in debates or confrontations.
• Protective (but not always forgiving) Fiercely loyal to those they care about, but once betrayed, it's nearly impossible to regain their trust.
• Drawn to the unseen or mysterious They're often fascinated by life's darker or more taboo subjects: psychology, true crime, spirituality, death, secrets, transformation.
It honestly describes me to the T. It's such an interesting read, very insightful.
I looked up Mariah's and it says:
• High-energy and passionate: These people don't just live, they charge through life. They're motivated, competitive, and usually up for a challenge. Boredom is their enemy.
• Intelligence and creativity: Quick-witted and action-oriented, March 27 individuals often excel in fast-paced environments , think business, sports, entrepreneurship, or performance arts. They think best when they're in motion, and they often come up with brilliant ideas under pressure.
• In love: Romantic, passionate, and enthusiastic, they love the thrill of romance. They tend to fall fast and pursue hard. However, they need partners who can keep up with their energy and don't try to control them. Respect and independence are non-negotiable.
Yet again, very accurate descriptions of MC. And thank you Lamb. I'm headed to LA in October and I'm just gonna drop by at Gammas headquarters and inquire to see if there's openings. I think about Mariah a lot so I feel called to do it. I would just have to worry about the practicalities of moving near Santa Monica, but I think all the fun I'll have while working will be worth it.

When I was growing up my mom and grandma were super religious. I was too. I bought some astrology books in a yard sale when I was like 13. I got really into it. I would meet people and see if their personalities matched with what their planet placements said about them (if I knew their planet placements). When my mom found my stash (of books) she threw them all out. I took a long break but it always remained a secret interest of mine.
As I got older I became more spiritual than religious but I still always pray because I like having a relationship with God. I will pray for you that you will choose the path that will benefit your life the best.

That is hilarious. Yup, I've helped a girlfriend find out if she was being cheated on by looking at her man's tagged photos. She thanked me endlessly. I'm exactly like your friend, I analyze people to their core too. Usually, I just know if I want to be around someone or not. They might not have necessarily done anything, but something in my spirit tells me no. It's a great thing. I've always been pretty blunt as well, and I'm not afraid to call people out on their BS.
Thanks, lamb. I'm a Bible-believing Christian, but you've just sparked an interest in me about zodiac signs. By the way, I may pursue being hired to be in Mariah's team soon so hopefully I get to relay a lot of lambs valid sentiments from here. It's not quite a solid decision yet though. Praying about it. Wish me luck.

Scorpios are natural detectives. I was once on a dating app for three days and my Scorpio female friend found out everything about a guy I went on a few dates with. Even what the inside of his house looked like (from when it was listed for sale before he bought it). She found so much information about him with very little. I think I just knew his name and his birthday. She always has the tea before anyone else at work too. She's low-key and quiet but she notices everything and people just tell her stuff. It's crazy. She doesn't like everyone so I'm thankful to have her as a friend. She's very loyal too. Scorpios and Geminis are supposed to be the "bad guys" of the zodiac but they're my favorite. I'm a Taurus.

I love it. We'll pray for the right man. Men are called to provide, and I bet Nick and Bryan both felt they came up short because you just can't out-earn Mariah. The guy has to be fully aware that she's an exception, not the rule, and her making more money shouldn't emasculate anyone. Literally, we all get it. Mariah is rich as hell.
The one time she's with a billionaire who can actually match her wealth, it blows up in her face. Mariah's insane with money. She sued Packer for $50 million and walked away with 5 to 10 million plus kept the 35-carat diamond ring. I think at this time, she still has residual anger from divorcing Nick so she may have subconsciously lashed the rest of the anger out, on a billionaire.
Bad move though, because after much thinking, and with how Packer has now been exposed in high-profile corruption involving the Israeli Prime Minister who has crazy power in the US government and Hollywood, I'm now inclined to believe that he pulled some strings behind the scenes to get back at her. Their settlement was November 2016, and Mariah's public humiliation happened December 2016. That was such a straight savage move, and I feel stupid for not seeing the picture clearer much sooner. I wouldn't be shocked if Stella was instrumental on this inside job and was paid off as well. I thought Nick sounded stupid when he said, "The government did that," but now I see you can literally draw a straight line from Mariah to Packer to the US government, and it makes perfect sense.
Anyway, my point is that Bryan was truly a godsend to her at that time. I wish their romance had blossomed the first time they met on the tour bus in 2006. Their love story was cute: "We sprawled out over several tables and booths. We'd already started shooting flirty glances at each other in the bus about twenty miles back. We sat across from each other in a booth like eighth graders. We softly touched each other's legs under the table, undetected while the rest of the party roared on." And it's crazy how this is the same man who saved her exactly 10 years later, during what would become the darkest time of her life.

I agree, Bryan is fine and dresses decent compared to Anderson. Mariah looked so happy when they were together. I really wish they were still a thing because they made a great couple. I truly felt Bryan really loved her and wasn't out for her money etc. For a while I felt MC had finally found her man but I guess maybe Bryan wanted a family or there were other reasons why they broke up. Even with Nick I never really cared for him or took him serious because he was sort of goofy, and well look what happened he cheated on her. Like how dare you. I do hope Mariah finds love again one day and that it lasts.

"She could also be talking about when the kids leave for the weekend, or any time they're off with Nick." That's pretty deep. In her book, Mariah took great pride in saying Dem Babies had never been away from her for more than 24 hours. They were about 9 then. But now they're in their teens, and that's usually when kids start gravitating more towards dad.
If I were Mariah, I'd be irritated too. Her twins are around kids she probably has no interest in knowing and she has no idea how those kids are being raised and parented. They could easily be bad influences and I get that they are technically the twins' siblings, but still I'd feel the need to keep reminding Roc and Roe that none of this is normal, and Nick is definitely not someone to model yourself after, in terms of creating a family.
As for Anderson, I agree, he's just whack to me, style-wise. He literally dresses like a clown. He gives off that energy of a kid who didn't get much attention growing up and now clings to being "different", by just dressing weird to stand out. It's clownish behavior, it's actually okay to have normalcy, you don't need to wear a bowl cut wig. Brian truly set the standard look-wise. May have not had the money, but he showed up for Mariah during some of her hardest times. He was solid. I really wish it turned out differently for them. Maybe the twins will tell us which one out of Mariah's boyfriends was their favorite, one day.
Anyway, I can't wait to hear the rest. HFIA might be a three-subject song, like Petals and I Wish You Well. And since it's apparently 6 minutes long, she definitely has room to say a lot.

I agree with you thinking it's about her kids. While it's too early to know where the song goes in the next verse as she said, it changes into something different and more gospel or something like that towards the end. I think when she says, "but when you leave you take a little bit of every fiber that's embedded in me" she could also be referring to when the kids leave for the weekend or any times they leave her to be with Nick? Pending this line or verse is indeed about the kids. I feel like my teenage self again in the 90's anticipating the new Mariah album and trying to decode lyrics and decipher who was this about or what does she mean by this?
While I like Andersen, I'm low-key hoping this song is not about him. Andersen seems like another Nick in the sense that he never is home. He's always traveling and DJing, globing across the world. Mariah seems to need stability and I don't know if she's OK with that if they really are a thing or if it was just album related. Something seems a little off with that whole relationship but maybe it's low-key, or maybe it is private, or they are just two adults having fun and going with the flow. In that case it might work. Who knows, but if it is a song about a relationship, I'm assuming it probably was written with Bryan in mind.

Yeah, it's very apparent that she's dependent on something and dependence is just a euphemism for addiction. And that's a great point: a divorce, a failed engagement, a savage public humiliation, never-ending blackmail threats, a heavy breakup, battling for custody of your children, and your estranged sister and mother mysteriously dying on the same day, it's all too much for anyone's mental capacity.
Part of me believes some of these events were orchestrated to fully break her spirit, much like what they tried to do in 2001. I believe her memoir helped her cope with it all, but now she's coping the way she always has, through making music. I pray Mariah maintains her mental resilience and never loses the battle against her own brain.
September 26 truly can't come soon enough.

I hope it's not because of opiads. My grandma needs to take them but she's ill and 92. Is there no chance that a broken shoulder can heal? Do you think the shoulder still hurts? I think it was too much with the loss of her mother and the Bryan break-up. When Edith Piaf lost her love, the famous boxer Marcel, she was never the same. I know off-topic but I had to think of her because I watched the movie "La vie en rose" which is fantastic as a music bio pic. But back to Mariah, I hope she's okay and feels better soon.

"Purple taking me higher, I'm lifted and I like it." Mariah definitely dabbles with THC, it enhances creativity as well. And that's a great point, they say getting divorced is like getting cancer. And I do believe that Nick cheated. She uttered, "I know you cheated on me," during one of her Chanteuse concerts.
It was also so predictable when he completely abandoned Mariah on Valentine's Day. Like, seriously? How do you book something else on that day and not dedicate it to your wife? And considering how many women he ended up with, him cheating being the cause of the divorce wouldn't be the least bit surprising.

There were claims being made in 2018/19 by Stella and the others who brought lawsuits that Mariah was recreationally using THC, prescription medications, and alcohol on a regular basis. Based on footage from the reality TV show, we can already confirm the alcohol and THC. Antidepressants and mood stabilizers aren't generally used recreationally, but anti-anxiety (Valium, Xanax) and pain medications (oxycontin, codeine) definitely are. This discussion makes me wonder if the divorce from Nick was a trigger or if perhaps the divorce happened as a result of whatever has been happening behind the scenes.

New Here For It All video (111,198)

Wait, I keep forgetting Mariah went through an actual heavy break up. 7 years. The lyrics do fit Tanaka as well. Maybe he was the initial subject and then she kept editing and added elements of her mom's death? I'm so invested now. I like the song so far.
It being about Tanaka would make perfect sense though. Let's hear the rest.

I really liked the clip of HFIA. I heard say it in one of the interviews that she wrote it a couple of years ago and knew she wanted to name the album after it ever since.
At first after the Selfridges snippet I thought maybe she wrote it for her kids but it sounds like it must have been for Bryan.
.Paak is too recent for a song that's two years old. Speaking of, I know MC is busy with promo and touring but he's nowhere to be seen. Maybe he was just helping her get the album together and they aren't romantically involved?

New Here For It All video (111,187)

"I lay awake and feel you breathe and thank the Lord I lived to see the physical embodiment of love" sounds like the last moments with Pat. She realizes her mother really did the best with what she got. She may have been neglectful at times, but that's what happens when there is only one working parent.
"But when you leave you take a little bit of every fiber that's embedded in me. But if you need, I'll keep my shit together and internalize the depths of the fears." My thoughts then shifted to Dem Babies growing up and Mariah having a bit of a hard time letting go.
"And baby I'm here for it all. Red carpets in Cannes and applause, Bugattis whatever they're called. Baby, I'm here for it all. Our virtuous sleepover nights that kept me from losing my mind through things I don't care to recall. Still, baby, I'm here for it all." What comes to mind is her watching Mean Girls with Roe in matching all pink pajamas.
The first stanzas could easily apply to her kids as well. It sounds like deep retrospection. Mariah lost her mom, so this feels like an ode to her babies. She knows what that kind of loss feels like, and now she wants to let them know what they mean to her, and that she'll try to be there as much as possible.
Will someone with great ears transcribe the very first snippet? Maybe we can get a fuller picture. It seems like a family-centered song, I like it. The first few lines of the melody are very I Believe I Can Fly. I hear a new song that everyone will be covering soon. Finally.

MC's post on X of her singing the verses of Here For It All live with Daniel Moore showcases her impeccable songwriting skils. The lyrics are really deep and personal. I wonder who HFIA is about. Patricia? Anderson?

Mariah in Brazil (111,185)

I'm not surprised. This has been the same running theme with the concerts in China as well. I hope a physical therapist help her gain the will to move and be lively again. Lambs are somewhat accepting at this point but the general public will continue to shred her to pieces if she keeps being a living corpse. I know it's all festive and Mariah is winning awards, yay. But it's truly sad where she's at, performing wise. She's moved more when she was pregnant. The injury from 2013 is fully catching up to her, it seems.

Yes, the look was great, but the concert was terrible. Nobody enjoyed it, and people thought it was awful how she didn't interact with the audience, kept staring at the monitors, and left the stage multiple times for long outfit changes. She barely sang, didn't even try to move around the stage, and now she's been getting a lot of backlash from both the media and fans, many of whom left halfway through the show. I just can't understand this lack of energy in her concerts lately. It feels like she doesn't even want to be there. I don't remember any Mariah concert ever being this bad before. Everyone in Brazil was disappointed.

Thanks for sharing. I have so much more respect for JD now. When they insinuated that Mariah's records wouldn't be as big without him, he was quick to correct them, "Nah, don't get it twisted, she's got records that are bigger than the ones I did." Basically saying Mariah is a badass with or without him, and he's just grateful she brought him along for the ride. Unlike Walter's bitter attitude: "She made up some story that she wrote AIWFCIY when she was 12." We love JD.

He starts talking about her at 30:00 on YouTube. It was a little enlightening. He claims she wants to go full out hip-hop. At one point early on she brought Cream by Wu-Tang to him and said I want to sing over that. He also said that she wanted to "rap" more over We Belong Together. I think he meant sing more with fast wordplay. He insisted on her sing that last note We Belong Together. He also said she can sing flawlessly when she wants to. She doesn't want to highlight how well she sings anymore. That kinda makes sense. I have noticed since she started having problems with her voice she wants to put emphasis on her being a songwriter or she thanks God for the gift of making music. She never wants to talk about her voice. MC doesn't want to put the effort into singing at a high level. He also says the audience wants the new Mariah records to sound like the old Mariah records. He says it's a struggle with all artists. They all want to change their sound despite the success and the brand that got them to the top. It was very interesting. In all the hoopla of promotion I thought yall may miss out on this.
