Haha I forgot about "Hate U", it's definitely one of her worst videos. I too hated those swimsuits on her. However I love the video for "#Beautiful".

The video for H.A.T.E.U. is also shockingly bad. I was even more chocked to find out that Bret Ratner directed it who directed her more iconic videos. The bathing suit is so unflattering, I can’t believe she let them put her in it. There is no way she selected it. But again, looking low-budget for a high caliber director.
It bothered me so much, because I absolutely love love the song. This happened a lot in the 2010s, solid songs wasted by bad videos. #Beautiful is another one.

I read his post on X and he was very good not to spoil the album for Mariah. He said he has two favorites. I really wanna hear the song with Anderson.

Here For It All (110,692)
by Bobby A from United States

Journalist Stevie Musicfeelings posted on X that he has listened to HIFA. He said the the album is "quite different from Caution, a bit more soulful and even gospel-like towards the end. Stevie said, "Above all, the two singles are pretty well chosen in my opinion. They're the most radio friendly." The last part of his comment has caused some Lambs to have some concern for any HIFA future singles' performance on the charts. He said that he will give more individual song feedback once MC releases the tracklist. Do you think he's saying that the two chosen were singles for a reason or that the two are the only two radio friendly songs on the album?

I actually liked I Don't, the video is horrible though. I feel like if Mariah had her Emancipation Of Mimi voice the song would have been better. She was not a good place vocally in 2017.

Mariah really dropped the ball on "Sugar sweet". It could have been a hit had it been a solo or if it had Ariana featured. It's actually a good song that deserved more.

Mesmerized (110,649)
by Giovanni from USA

Listened to "Mesmerized" on repeat today and Mariah is definitely the queen of testing her microphone. I love this song so much, it gives me Bee Gees and Michael Jackson vibes and Mariah's whistle at the end is legendary. If "Mesmerized" was released in the 70's it would have likely been a hit, same with the song "I feel it". If she was a singer in the 70's she would have been just as successful. Imagine Mariah singing "Love Hangover" from Diana Ross in the 70's. I loved her performance remix with "Heartbreaker" at Divas Live, it was great.

I watched this analysis a while back too and I agree with most of his points of view, especially when he pointed out that Mariah's voice was at its most powerful and free at the "Music Box" era. That was spot on, her voice was front and center with such a wow factor to it, concerts from that era and vocals she did on the records through to early '94 were just jaw dropping, at what a voice was capable of. However, I also think that this was the period where she damaged her instrument. That tour from 1993 created problems that manifested in her modal voice and her ability to sing comfortably inside her range and transition smoothly. I think Oleta Adams or was it Gladys Knight? When interviewed once and asked about Mariah, advised that she sings way too much outside her range, singing with a constant lift since her voice wasn't a textbook soprano voice (this is true) so to speak and she might suffer damage down the line, if she didn't limit the use of her ability to sing so high (This was even before The Emancipation Of Mimi. I wonder what she thinks of that one. Haha.)

I also love the "Triumphant" video. She looks so good, I remember being excited and ready for the album and we never got one. I even thought Mariah was gonna name the album "Triumphant" lol. I'm still mad Mariah never finished "Bring it on home" and made it into a full song. It would have been a perfect song to finish the album.

There seem to be a lot of trolls on X who are not happy with Mariah getting the Vanguard Award. Mind you Beyonce has like two good videos, "Baby boy" and "Single ladies" yet she got the award. I will give her "Crazy in love" but that's about it.

My Mariah song covers (110,627)
by Giovanni from USA
| |
|
|
Yup Mariah was meant to cover this song. In my opinion it would have fit perfect on the "Daydream" album. It gives another flow to the song "Underneath the stars". She also could have covered it during her Emancipation era because her voice was so smooth and on fire during that time. It wouldn't have fit on the album but she could have just covered just for me as a recording haha. Aaliyah did such a good job covering it. I really wish she was still here. Mariah liked her music.

by Giovanni from USA

The answer is no. Notice how the group was called Destiny's Child and not Destiny's Children? The group was used to get Beyonce's foot through the door for her solo career. It was always about her which is why I feel so bad for Kelly and Michelle. They were so happy being the most successful female group other than The Supremes of course. They were dumped like trash. We never even got another Destiny's Child album after "Destiny fulfilled". Beyonce is selfish and if you ask me does not deserve 32 Grammys. At this point how many more can she get?

Didn't Beyonce lose a plagiarism case in the last 25 years? Mariah tops the Hot 100 for 7 years straight, wheras Beyonce struggled for 14 years on Billboard. Let's be honest. Would Beyonce have as many Grammys if she didn't marry Jay-Z?

I couldn't agree with you more Dove. I like Beyonce and think she's a decent singer and vocalist but she is not on the same level as Mariah as a producer or songwriter. I just recently found out Beyonce has produced some songs when she was with Destiny's Child and also some songs later in her solo career. I do think Billboard is over exaggerating her talent as a producer. I guess we're supposed to forget all the dozens of song writers who have helped her with all her albums. And don't get me started on the number of Grammys she is. Her father and Jay Z are why she has so many. I wonder how much the Academy charges for one? I hear they're pretty pricey.

Why is Beyoncé way higher than Mariah (and a lot of the other producers on this list)? I read (on Reddit a long time ago) that she doesn't even write her songs. I read she changes a few words and claims credit. That's her contribution. Are we living in the upside down? How can she, in good conscience, even accept that honor? Does she even deserve all those Grammys she has? She has a great voice, and some great songs, but is she actually the producer? I don't follow her that closely, so please somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

I definitely think releasing the tracklist would be exciting for fans and help generate anticipation for the album. I definitely think it will be a good album, I'm just worried about how Mariah's voice will sound. Something happened to her voice after 2013.

I stay in love (110,558)
by Giovanni from USA
| |

Is one of my favorite Mariah songs and deserved better. I don't know why it wasn't promoted more and why there is like one live performance of the song. I believe it could have charted higher and been a hit if it had more promo. "We belong together" is a great song and legendary in terms of success, but I like "I stay in love" more. Justice for "I stay in love".

Stop making excuses (110,557)
by Giovanni from USA
| |
|
|
We already know Mariah is older and has nodules that is no excuse for not being able to sing live. Mariah's problem is that she damaged her voice with drinking and she does not get enough rest. This isn't a disrespect to Mariah because I love her to death and she remains the best singing voice I've heard but too many people I know always point out the nodules instead of Mariah's love for champagne. Alcohol dries out the vocal chords and causes inflammation in the voice. I truly believe that's why MC sounds very horse when she speaks.

Sorry but that interview is very uncomfortable to watch and it's not because of Mariah. Alan plays around way too much and really annoyed me. He needs to learn how to respect Mariah and other artists if he wants interviews. It was really cringe to look at and what's the worst part of the interview is that he did not ask more questions about the album.

Doja Cat (110,554)

Mariah can collaborate with who she wants but I think it would help if she choose artists who are known and who are current. I used to dream of a Sam Smith collaboration but after his recent transformation I was over it. I still like him but he's obviously going through something. I could really hear a ballad type song with him and Mariah. John Legend is another artist who at the moment is not relevant but sings well with Mariah. I remember in an interview Mariah said she would work with anyone to make music.

While I get that but it's so clear that she never met these 2 artists before because from the "behind the scenes" video we could see they're meeting for the first time when shooting the promo clip. I would think a songwriter like Mariah would at least want to be more acquainted with whoever she chooses to collaborate with because she's so picky with who she works with. She keeps picking random artists.

2013 Mariah (110,553)
by Giovanni from USA
| |
|

I would also mention the dress she wore at the Grammys, Mariah looked like a million dollar Barbie. I even loved how she styled her hair. I like the make up she used in 2013. These new stylists she hired are not doing her any justice and I would agree that she definitely has a social media problem. Her X account is still stuck at 21 million which is sad. I honestly thought her team would have done something especially with a new album about to be released.

by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

I agree about the 2013 fashion. Her looks were on point. The American Idol era had her taking risks. Her hair and glam was on point. Her recent looks don't do justice to how incredible she looks now. The only recent ensemble I really liked was the gold moment at the BETs performance. She needs a new team of stylist and publicist and especially a social media team. Her social media needs some serious work.

This is why if Mariah wants to stay relevant she needs to one make sure her music is good and second collaborate with current artists like Doja Cat or Bruno Mars. A lot of people don't know who Kehlani or Shenseea is, I never heard of either them until "Sugar sweet" was released. I'm glad she did a song with Anderson .Paak but we really need a collab with a known female artist.

2013 Mariah (110,501)
by Giovanni from USA

I don't know about ya'll but I miss 2013 Mariah. She looked so young and fresh and her ensembles were on point. She needs to go back with stylist Johnny Wujek because Dior Sovoa is not it, he needs to be fired asap. Johnny actually knows how to dress a woman. I also loved the short milf cut she had when she performed at that charity concert in NY when she was wearing that sling for her arm. Never been a fan of the long hair. Am I being silly or do some of ya'll agree? I'm curious what Mimi L has to say.

Sugar Sweet (110,480)

Two problems with "Sugar sweet". It should have been a solo or just have been with Shenseea or with Ariana. Second no video. "Sugar sweet" had the potential to be better had Mariah gotten another verse in the song. I really thought hearing the snippet that it was gonna be another "Touch my body" lol. I was wrong. At this point all we can hope for is a good album.

Mariah's voice (110,452)
by Giovanni from USA
| |
|
|
We all know Mariah's voice is not what it used to be but there's still a voice there. She sounds amazing when rested and with jazz and Christmas music. What has always bothered me about the situation is that Mariah hardly ever talks about the problems with her voice. Nodules, vocal damage etc. I really think she and many others like Christina Aguilera and Alicia Keys have vocal damage. Mariah might have damaged her voice by not resting her voice enough and with drinking. Mariah can do what she wants but I would always shake my head when she would have a glass of champagne in her hand because why would you destroy the gift God gave you. I'm not judging her I'm just telling it like it is. I think at this point all she can do is rest properly, stop drinking and get a vocal coach if she hasn't already. I love MC and want the best for her and her career.

Grammys (110,426)
by Giovanni from USA
| |
|
|
I know some of you may not care for Mariah to snag any more Grammys but I do. I will never get over how U2 won album of the year in 2006. We all know "The Emancipation Of Mimi" was a much better and bigger album. I felt Mariah really deserved that one. Also not to hate on Beyonce because I love her but it's ridiculous how she has so many over Mariah. "Drunk in love" is a garbage song yet won a Grammy. I know Mimi has one or two gospel songs on the new album, one with The Clark Sisters. If it's as good as J Valentine says it is maybe Mariah will be nominated for best gospel song/performance and snag a Grammy.
