We usually separate a Mariah performance from a Beyonce one because Beyonce is an all out performer while Mariah's sole selling point is her voice. But this Grammy performance is a perfect example of all the things Mariah should have tried and didn't. Beyonce basically did what Mariah usually does (minus the self touching) which is barely move yet she compensated with top class production and amazing choreography and visuals. Like who would have thought? She just walked around and yet seemed so powerful and extraordinary. While for Mariah it's always the shirtless dudes doing the usual moves and a little "pick me up, twirl me around" moment with zero vision really.

Haha I'm actually scared of the day Mariah will fire Stella because Stella won't take it easy. Her contour will become extra muddy with rage and her mess of a smokey eye will give out real smoke. You are right about the points though, every day I'm surprised at all the missed opportunities. Even some of her lambs have much stronger ideas and plans to get Mariah on track. Yet she employs this wannabe thug.

Mariah's team does take notes, but not the type you want, they are busy collecting green notes (i.e. money) wherever and whenever they can get it. Because Stella needs her 10% or 20% or whatever she charges Mariah.

Major events (72,572)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
I miss Mariah walking the red carpet at major events like award shows and all. I wish she'd just show up sometime and let her presence be known and maybe even get some inspiration from the performers. I feel like her being away from music related events is not really a good move. Can we get Benny Medina back? He gets JLo into every relevant show and everything (even when she has nothing to promote), and before you all bring up the "well did it help JLo's sales? Because Mariah sold more with MIAM than JLo's AKA", I am well aware of that but think about it, both Benny and Mariah have something and lack something. Mariah has the talent, the skills and the voice to make a big impact but she lacks the support team to push her work and to fix her image and to basically reinforce that she is a legend and a superstar (not a reality star). On the other hand, Benny has the skills, the connections, the drive and the ability to make to do exactly that but his client, that is Miss Lopez, lacks the skills, the talent and the voice. So simple solution really, give Stella to JLo and get Benny for Mariah. Because Benny plus Mariah is unstoppable. He can use his drive and connections and most importantly his management skills to really push Mariah's work and get her in all relevant places and make her presence known while Mariah can work on her end and provide the good songs and vocals.

Beyonce at the Grammys (72,568)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

Wow, what a performance. Loser Tanaka take note. The woman barely moved yet she had one of the most powerful performance with stunning visuals and production. Beyonce actually has a team with a creative vision, same can't be said about the team surrounding Mariah. The same old lame old stuff are basically recycled in her case. Whether it's performances, or videos or promo plan. It really sucks.

Grammy's (72,566)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

Mariah should have been there praying tribute to either Prince or George Michael. Her team is so incompetent they don't realize if needed they need to pay big shows to allot time for Mariah if they want to prove that she still is "The Voice", but of course Stella's reach is up until TMZ and Gossip Cop.

Mariah on the record (72,549)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

Here is an old interview of Mariah with Fuse. 1) I like how the interviewer really knows her catalogue. Usually people just know the hits. He also asks good questions with a good balance between personal and professional stuff. 2) I miss interviews were Mariah properly answers questions and takes the interviews seriously and where we'd actually know what she's actually on the show for. Nowadays it's all diva act, dodging questions, going off tangent and rambling on, or looking bored and annoyed. I like how she talks about her songwriting process and how she came up with some of her songs and who inspired her. She is so articulate and humble here. 3) She actually says "I'm a grown up" haha, this is so rare. 4) One thing she mentions here possibly explains Mariah's situation. She says she "hates being the boss" and how she hates telling people what to do. She does say she is very hands on about making decision despite hating it. I think over the years she stopped that too and since she hates being the boss, she possibly finds it difficult to get rid of the leeches that seem to always find her.

Another blatant copy is the "Oh Baby, oh baby" part from Mariah's "Secret Love". Ariana's song "Baby I" basically took that part and made it the chorus. But no that's probably not the reason. Mariah's hate from Ariana comes from the "Ariana is the new Mariah", "Ariana is a younger Mariah" comparisons and how Ariana and her team basically lifted Mariah's style for Ariana's first album. They even pushed the "new Mariah" thing as a promo tool.

Another party with radio people (72,534)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
So Mimi hosted another party this time at her place where a lot of radio people were invited. I love the jacket she's wearing and hoping for some better quality pictures. This is a full length shot of the ensemble. She looks great. The dress is nice. A close up moment. So this is the second party (as far as we know) like this within a few days where she's hanging out with radio personalities. However the promo for ID has almost died down, so I'm thinking this may be advance promo lined up for the single she said is coming this March?

Somehow while I was writing that post I just knew you'd write something like this. You must be the type who say girls deserve to be (or asking to be) sexually assaulted because they dress a certain way. I am the first to voice my opinions about all the crap Mariah does but that comment the radio guy made was through and through inappropriate.

New radio call in (72,501)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
Here is the link to the audio. It's good that she got word of people being pissed about her supposedly burning her $250k Valentino wedding dress. She finally said that it's not her real wedding dress and that she got it from a bridal store but it's not an expensive one. Then she said she is making a promise that she'll buy someone the wedding dress she wore for their wedding. She as usual dodges questions about Bryan. She mentions some cute stuff about the twins especially Roc. Mariah was sweet throughout the interview and she sounded humble especially in the end where she was thanking anyone who heard any of her songs. But what the hell is wrong with the interviewer at the end? He says "Say hi to the twins from me, and I'm not talking about the kids." So inappropriate.

The SSFT was already in talks before Stella came into the picture. However the SSFT South America and Hawaii happened under Stella's management and look at what happened to that. I don't understand how Mariah doesn't see that Stella just isn't right for this. She has no background in this. Stella can be chalked up as selfish but what on earth happened to Mariah's judgement? It really bothers me that 27 years into her career she's making mistakes even a new comer won't make.

It will be a while before she realizes that because as of now she's still thinking her image is in perfect condition and she has unbridled success with everything Stella got her. I at least hope that it's a misconception she's under and not something she is doing intentionally.

Haha let's not forget wearing this for a Christmas special and a body suit for OHN. The 2 photos you posted of her showing skin but getting it right are perfect examples. She looks sexy without looking like she's trying. In the silver dress with sheer panels you can see a lot of skin yet it looks classy and nice. The photo I posted here, neck up she's flawless from the hair to the makeup, but I don't get the outfit and how on Earth is this appropriate for Christmas. I don't get how she wears these and thinks "oh wow this is a great idea" .

Re-brand (72,460)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
They really need to work on Mariah's brand. It has never been this bad even during "Glitter". Her image is a mess, the diva antics are going through the roof, most of her recent projects have been half baked and abandoned mid way, she seems to not acknowledge that she needs to work on her voice more (and no I'm not saying she can't sing but her voice is her instrument, she's not a dancer or full on entertainer so that's her sole selling point), she can't seem to stay away from fabricated drama. And this isn't like it's happening once in a while, it's like a regular day now. Only lambs will bother trying to dig through and see the "real Mariah", but even we are finding it increasingly harder to recognize the star we love and admire. Her team has been treating her like a B-list celebrity, getting her B-list deals, and they don't seem to have the reach to get her booked in high profile shows and events, which shouldn't be hard since she's one of the biggest stars. But either they are lazy or they have no clue how to handle her. They don't bother doing anything unless they see a quick way to get cash. They burn down bridges with big shots by crying sabotage when there are better and more diplomatic ways to handle things. No one in her team seems to be competent enough to do the job they are hired to do. Stella talks big but the only high profile deals Mariah got were people who came to her, not people Stella got for Mariah, and even then they find ways to mess things up. Mariah really needs to take off those Cavalli shades because they are clearly clouding her judgement and vision. Side note: why on earth did they use that picture for the Lionel tour? How does this even make sense? I am not against skin show at all but is that all there is to Mariah nowadays?

She's as dense as it gets. If Mariah wasn't involved in this, I would laugh at Stella's crappy move, but since M is involved, it's sad. It's so weird the stuff Stella picks to "defend" or "shoot down". They never make any sense to me.

I still wonder why Trey, someone Mariah has known longer than anyone else in her current team, didn't allow his face to be shown in MW. I mean hats off to him for not being an attention seeker but it's a mystery. I would love to have series where she's all about the music, no crappy story lines at all, just genuine authentic Mariah, but I feel like the moment she sees the cameras rolling she can't help but become really aware, especially recently (because in the previous documentaries like the one for TEOM and Charmbracelet she didn't seem as concerned about the camera). So yes it's better she drops the idea as a whole, but I get your point, I too would love to see the song writing, recording and producing process with Mariah and her collaborators.

Let's just hope there is no season 2. With season 1 she was adamant it's about the tour and look what we got. Plus she's not even working on a new album, how will she have enough footage of her in the studio? Stella will fill it with more dramatics.

Article: Mariah's ex-husband slams new "love" (72,406)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
| |
|
|
"I mean... I think the whole reality show is fake. You can't have a well-lit private conversation, it doesn't happen." And "When you start trying to pull a fast one on people, that s**t is silly. They wrote the story. That s**t is like a soap opera: 'The billionaire doesn't know, and here's the handsome young dancer'," said Cannon is basically what I feel about this whole thing too. Good on Nick to actually say this. Maybe this will finally get to Mariah since all of us collectively yelling won't ever reach her ears. He also seems a little pissed because usually doesn't he say something like "never say never" when asked about getting back with Mariah? Now he's straight up saying he's not into that anymore. Honestly can't blame the dude for this. Mariah is turning herself into a joke day by day. It's so sad to see her be reduced to this mess.
