It doesn't scream I am coming for your wigs Beatles haha. It doesn't scream Billboard count your days bish. The cover art is very pretty but it's something more like for a greatest hits album or "the love songs" collection. It's not memorable like TEOM or even catchy like Caution. Also maybe like a beauty magazine cover shoot. The way they posed the era starting with she wants to get 2 more #1's the album cover doesn't match the vibe. I hope we get some alternate versions too with a more fierce look. Also someone said a few posts back she needs a new stylist. I agree. We also need her out of these huge diamond necklaces and diamond bracelet stacks, they are very early 2000s vibe and it ages her a bit which is crazy because she is at another beauty peak. The album was supposed to be a summery album so releasing it at the end of summer is interesting. It also has very few tracks like 11 if I'm not mistaken will they have to release more songs to tie up to the album release. I'm surprised it's not in August because that's perfect timing and doesn't she have some big shows lined up for August. Plus August wouldn't have too much competition. I'm sure they have a plan and I hope they stick to it and don't push it further that will kill momentum. Here For It All (109,876) by BFF from United States I like the title. Hopefully the 9/26 release date doesn't make the album conflict too much with whatever Mariah has planned for the holiday season. I remember "Caution" being released in mid-November 2018, which may have contributed a bit to its low performance. So far the album seems to have E=MC2 vibes with TDang being very Migrate, Sugar Sweet being very TMB/ IBLULT (with the island vibes). So I think she might pivot towards making it another installment of the Emancipation series (I think the idea was planted when those interviewer guys asked her if Caution was Emancipation 3rd edition or if it's coming in future). I think Mariah and Justin's voice went well together, however the song had too many features but just from the leaked version I would have liked it. The Superfestive AIWFCIY is a write off because Bieber's voice was still very young at that point so it didn't have the depth it has now. I do think Justin is very talented (albeit problematic) and I would definitely be on board for a collaboration between them. But something organic like Snooze not something forced. Justin does great on features like he did with Sza, Kid Laroi etc. I think he has great respect for Mariah and Mariah likes him too so I would definitely be on board. New album (109,703) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter The new album is supposed to be a summery sound, well July is almost over I wonder what the roll out plan is and I was thinking I really hope the new album and what we heard about it turns out to be like E=MC2. I've been playing the album and it's still so fresh and experimental. Almost every song had single potential. I was also re-listening to For the Record and indeed what a record only MC has a legacy worth referencing in her own song. I absolutely love her doing the part where she word plays her own song titles, how I wish we had a music video of the song with her recreating her famous MV scenes from the songs mentioned. Anyway I'm rambling but yes I'm hoping for an album like that. It's peak summer vibes with songs like TMB, Cruise Control, IBLULT, FTR, Migrate, ITC. Yes initially of course they had that sexual tension and the playful romance but I think Nick didn't respect Mariah's boundaries. She is quite private yet he outed her phone number when she was pregnant, told people they make love to "Hero" and get blabbering about their personal life. It's also clear he gave Mariah reasons to believe he wasn't faithful because in the Barbara Walters interview Mariah already seemed checked out and says she trusts him "sometimes". Unpopular opinions (109,695) by Lambi from USA True. I always believed Nick is a godsend and actually did the impossible. She meant every word of that song. By 39, MC had probably already given up on starting a family. Her biological clock was basically out, and she'd lost trust in all men. But somehow, Nick broke through the cracks and not only earned her trust but reinvigorated her desire for family. They pursued having children together on a tight deadline (basically her last chance) and actually achieved it. Even though, I resent Nick for being too deep into all the academia ideologies which then led him off the beaten path of fathering fatherless homes. I still am thankful he was instrumental for MC being a mother. He came just at the right time. I felt it extended Mariah's life. I'll never forget what MC wrote about Roc and Roe, "Of all the many gifts God has blessed me with: my voice, my creativity, my strength - my children are a vision more beautiful than I could have ever conceived". Summer fun songs (109,603) by Andy from Germany I absolutely agree. She has changed, she has evolved. Actually, I am a huge fan of the Memoirs and was a lot into the album when it came out. "Ribbon" still makes me go nuts when I hear it. And I also enjoyed the records that followed. Vocally she has changed and that fine to me as well. She is almost 60 and will not song like her 20 year old self. But all of this has been much discussed. TD is a banger. You can say what you want. Her age and somewhat strange diva persona haunts her. One Heart, One Voice (109,495) by Randy from USA I don't like it. Here's the thing. I knew it would be a ballad from the 90s. I knew it would feel "crowded". And I do think it's genius how he interchanged them throughout the verses. I am a Mariah Carey fan and what's most important to me is a lyric. Then the vocal. Then the arrangement. The lyrics are both banal and generic. It's not a song that needed to be written. It's been written before. I feel as though this is one of the songs sung before a Super Bowl national anthem with young girls from around the world tryna count steps with lame choreography. It belongs at the end of a really bad movie where the credits are more entertaining than the plot. My favorite person on this board woke me up out my sleep with a text for this?
