This is QHM, Warrior, Deedra, Mimi L (56,557) by JAXGH from United States
This is qhm, aw thanks so much. I've checked out Regine and Morisette and they are such amazing power belters. Morisette has good stage presence. Nina has a soft nice tone too. But you are right, Kyla comes close, she also has the melismatic singing gift and the buttery tone. Yay for lambs being successful singers. I want to be their friends lmao. I think Philippines has a great gift of music. I heard of Kyla through Brian McKnight so I guess he also appreciates it. Thanks for explaining it. I'm 1/6 Filipino so I truly appreciate the effort. I've always wondered how music is like there. Truthfully I think some of them can even make it big internationally with the right people. I think Kyla's voice is a mix of Mimi and Beyonce, Rnb princess is well deserved. Warrior, I have no clue but I've seen some compilations of her songs on YouTube. And right? She seemed to be lipping but it's so live. Deedra, it really is. Yeah I have not heard one person give justice to Butterfly, actually I don't know anyone who dared to sing that song except Kyla. She did fab. Mimi L, I really agree, Necklace has to go. She also used it at a dinner with Courtney Love, it didn't match. She seems to be a fan of chest plate necklaces. Though I think when she used one at GMA this year with long pink dress, it really complimented the outfit.

Yes you are right, that necklace is not new. Nowadays these news outlets just make up stuff and pass them off as stories. However fashion advice for Mariah, that necklace does not go with that tank top. But I like her tank top though.

Re: Filipino Lambs (56,541) (56,555) by Deedre aka MiTodoChop @HBF from Canada
Wow. I'm a pretty avid follower of music, not sure how I missed Kyla, but the clarity in her tone is so beautiful. I have heard many cover Mariah over the years but her version of Butterfly is really beautiful.

If I do remember well she had that necklace for the Rockefeller Christmas show last year.

Rare I Still Believe (Together Remix) (56,553) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
I've never heard this remix before and it's brilliant. Krayzie Bone and Mariah are Magical together. Like, when will your lesser faves ever have so many amazing unreleased tracks 25 years into their career? These things make me so happy.

Re: Why You Mad? choreography (56,548) (56,552) by Lee TS from USA
Talking about Why You Mad, is she ever going to release the song? I guess it was only a TMZ exclusive, did iTunes not want to carry it? Catch that. Lol no but that was a complete and total mess in fact. Please never release any footage she might've done for the supposed video. Let's move on to Christmas with the movie, book, and shows.

TMB (56,550) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Oh wow I almost forgot what a sexy song TMB is. It's like a more explicit "Honey". Where "Honey" relied on subtext and hints to deliver a sexy message, TMB is like full blown "I'mma draw you a picture about exactly what will happen between us in the boudoir". It's like an instruction booklet on foreplay hahah. I love it. I love everything about TMB. The breezy vocals, the sexy but witty lyrics, the laid back but quirky beat, the "hey ee yeah ee oh oh babyyy" and the "oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, ah ah ah". The video is one of my favorite Mariah videos. I love the sexy meets nerdy and cutesy elements. Also I love how she sings TMB here.

Justin and Why You Mad? (56,549) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
Justin is back with a bang and this could have helped Mariah too, or still can. I know a lot of people on this board think Justin is crap, but his recent music is really good and I think his voice goes well with Mariah. If Mariah wants Why You Mad to ever be released, now would be the time. It actually might have been better if she released it right before the release of WDYM, when Justin fans were hungry for anything Justin releases but I think now can also be a good time and she can just ride on the wave of popularity and success his new song is getting. I think Why You Mad with just MC and JB is perfect. The rappers don't add much so they could just re-do the arrangements and it would be great with a simple video. America loves a good comeback and this is sort of just that with Justin since he basically ruined his image. Say what you want, laugh at him, it's undeniable that he is a huge pop star now and if it can help Mariah then why not? I like their vocal chemistry.

Rare clip (56,547) by Lee TS from USA
Here's a short clip of Mariah doing TMB on The Hills and from what I can hear within the poor quality she sounds pretty good. I think it's probably a different take and can only wonder why they didn't use this footage. Because from what I can remember and just youtubed, she didn't sound too hot that night. I still remember talking to a lamb about how Mariah outshined The Hills girls in the group pictures they took.

WDYM? Justin Bieber's first Billboard Hot 100 #1 (56,543) by Baby from Dreamville...Where There's No Beginning & There is No End
Congratulations JB, you have officially arrived. And it's a hot shot debut too. Despite his established global popularity and unprecedented success in sales, the BB Hot #1 has been his most elusive achievement. He has a long way to go before he is anywhere near Mariah's or her fellow legends level but it's a good start. Also, What Do You Mean? is actually a pretty good song, meaning not just a bunch of words thrown together haphazardly. It reminds me a lot, lyrically, of YDNWTD from MIAMTEC. God bless, much love.

Yeah, Kyla is great. Of all Mariah's emulators in the country, she comes closest in terms of tone and fluidity. She's actually known as the R&B princess here, so that is kind of a big deal. You may also wanna check out Regine Velasquez, Nina (Girado), and Morissette Amon. They also have very impressive voices. Regine has been in the industry even a bit longer than Mariah has. In terms of music heard on Pinoy radio, it's pretty much a mixed bag, and there also have been sweeping trends. There was a time when local pop/rock bands were everywhere (mid to late 00s). And then K-pop, J-pop, and even Taiwanese pop took over (late 00s to around 2013). Some of these acts are still popular, but foreign western pop/rock/R&B has regained popularity as of late (it dominated the airwaves since the 90's then slowed down when the "band"wagon arrived). But one trend that has been pretty much consistently alive in the country is the covering of older (usually around 70s-90s) foreign hits. Like I once before here, one artist can practically build a career on singing covers (Kyla, Nina, Regine, and pretty much every female and even male pop singer in the country has around at least half of their discography consist of renditions). Rom-coms and even drama flicks in the country nowadays more often than not borrow their titles from cover songs or their lyrics. So yeah, that's pretty much what the airwaves generally sound like in the Philippines. I mean, sure, there are other stations that exclusively play this or that genre, but they usually have a specific, limited audience.

Exactly Licia, exactly. She said Happy Birthday beautiful Beyonce. I think sometimes MC gets accused of being calculating and manipulative when really she just goes about her life she just happens to have money and fame as part of the package. The photo is most likely the most recent one at an event.

The comeback trail (56,535) by Jono from USA
I really think Mariah and her team know what they're doing. Aside from Beautiful, it's been years since Mariah has had a hit. She's been out of the public's gossip for a while, aside from her Christmas debacle last year. So Mariah and Co. have been slowly rebuilding her image. Releasing a compilation indicating her legenday status? Having a solid residency showing she still has it? Appearing on one of the biggest primetime tv shows? Seeing a new man to show the divorce is in the past? Getting a Hollywoood star? Nailing her interviews? A Christmas children's book and film? Being seen as a great mother despite everything? Check. Even though it would have been nice for her to have an epic year music wise, like 1995 and 2005, this year has been spent rebuilding her tarnished image. Now they just have to figure out the music (which is a little ironic). Her press has been a lot more positive recently, and even the general public acknowledges her as a legend. Will she able to break through the youth-obsessed, lack of talent current pop scene? Probably not, because Mariah's level is too high to stoop that low. But songs like Beautiful and YDKWTD show that she still knows how to make current music that's quality, and there's no reason for her to age herself 20 years and record standards. Sony will not allow her next studio album to drop and disappear like her last two. Her time will come.

Filipino Lambs (56,533) by JAXGH from United States
That video of the kids singing in school is so freaking cute. It's so adorable they have a little bit of an accent too. I'm realizing how great Philippines music taste is. Mariah is definitely treated like an icon, when I saw how she was welcomed there last year, I think I can say that they are some of the best fans in the world. Good job you guys. I think they honestly have got some of the best singers too, I've looked up Filipino divas and most of them are influenced by Mariah heavily. Particularly there's a singer I've discovered and really was impressed by, named Kyla, I don't really know how old she is but I've heard her sing Miss You Most and you can tell she's a lamb, her voice is very angelic. Similar tone with Mariah, she just made me happy because she sings Mimi songs most people don't know. Check out Mine Again and Butterfly. She did so great. I know she's pretty much emulated Mariah's flow and vocals but that's really the only way to sing MC's songs and I think she gave justice to Butterfly especially. I never thought someone could actually put together that vocal run at the climax. Mariah usually have back up singers continue, but she did it all by herself. It makes me happy that true lambs are successful as singers too. I don't really know how big of an artist she is, but I really do find her vocal abilities amazing, dahling. Filipino Lambs: What's music like in Philippines? What's songs are on the radio? Unlike neighboring countries (Indonesia, Singapore, China etc.). How come Filipinos seems to have better enunciation when they sing? You can barely tell they're foreigners when they sing an English song. Thank you. God bless you guys.

Re: Message board debacle (56,530) (56,532) by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter
I don't know about the others but B is definitely not a shallow fan. He has been a huge supporter ever since he joined the board. He wasn't part of the weight arguments either. Or if he was, it was only to stop those topics. As for the topics you have mentioned, yes it's true but everyone has talked about those and made thousands of "top 10" lists on this board possibly covering every aspect of her career. Music videos, songs, live performances you name it. Yes I do not support the weight criticisms but I see nothing wrong in the other things that are being discussed here.
