I believe J. Lo was at the NBC Upfront thing when Mariah debuted the trailer for the show.

Does anyone know what Andy meant when he said "She seemed into the teaser reel for your series" about JLo to Mariah? Did JLo say anything about Mariah's show?

Thanks for the link. I enjoyed the aftershow segment more than the original interview. I loved the part about Prince and I'm glad she said something nice about Madonna. I wish I could take out the J.Lo and Nicki section of the original interview and replaced it with the aftershow. Lol.

The early-mid 90s Mariah wasn't confident and even depressed and repressed in her marriage with Tommy Motolla. I liked the Butterfly and Rainbow era Mimi the best. I think she's been joking with this diva attitude for so long that she actually became a real diva.

New music? (62,375)
by Hanno van Leeuwen from The Netherlands
| |
|

In all these last appearances and interviews, was there even a question about the important things like if there is any new music on the way or was it only bs about JLo and all the others. It seems like that they are more interested in Mariah's divaness rather than asking the right questions.

I noticed that too when the dancer was brought up. He is a young good looking guy and let's face it, she is Mariah freaking Carey and makes that entrance during her shows like a goddess and she beautifully striking in person. He probably grew a little crush on her and I'm sure Mariah had a ball on this tour traveling the world and it showed. She's engaged, but that doesn't mean we can't be attracted to other people or appreciate a handsome guy. I have to say when MC doesn't want to address an issue or question she sure totally diverts the question.

WWHL aftershow (62,370)
by Mara from United States

Did anyone catch the aftershow? Mariah shut down a fan who mentioned her being vulnerable on the docuseries, so it doesn't sound like that's a side we are going to see portrayed this time. If anyone has a link to the aftershow and could post it, I would be very grateful. I missed the last 7 min or so.

I thought she answered the questions during the interview. The JLo thing is so old. Yes, they will probably never "hang out". Doesn't mean there is a full out "feud". If the fans and the media would just let the silly thing die, neither one of them would ever bring it up again. I felt she was authentic answering the questions throughout.

Interview questions (62,367)
by Nick from Maryland
| |

Guys. She was on WWHL, a show for drama. She already knew Andy would be asking about feuds, the J.Lo one in particular. Next time Nicki or J.Lo are on WWHL I'm sure Andy will ask them about Mariah to start more drama. It's not like she was on Ellen, Live with Kelly, or Oprah and was being asked these questions. That would be like going to the Wendy Williams show and expecting to not be asked messy questions. She knows what to expect from different hosts.

Will the real Mariah please stand up? (62,366)
by Ardis Logic from Earth

I agree that all this shady diva behavior is getting old. It also makes Mariah look immature and catty. That's understandable coming from younger teenage girls, or even young women in their 20's, but once you get into your 40's, that behavior is just unflattering for a woman. (In my opinion anyway.) Maybe Mariah just got tired of trying to be herself, and decided to just go along with the "diva" label that they are always trying to put on her. This new manager also comes off as someone who is even encouraging this behavior. Who knows? Whatever the cause, it's just so sad to see her stooping to that level. I miss the humble, shy, and sweet Mariah from the early 90's. I know we all change over time and all that, but not that drastic of a change. It's like she is a totally different person now.

by Edward from USA

I don't think Andy was trying to trick Mariah into anything. I would take Andy over Wendy any day. Guests don't usually walk into these interviews not knowing what they are going to be asked. It's well known every big name in the industry has a "Don't Ask" list. I think Mariah did well on the interview minus her chair-drama-spinning when asked about Madonna since what she said about her was very nice. Mariah should've put the Nicki/Jennifer issue behind her a long time ago. I hope she doesn't make it to 60 with the same drama.

Re: Now that Mariah has addressed it (62,356) (62,361)

The gossipy, cheeky shows like that will always ask her about it unless she puts restriction on them. Shows like Wendy's and Andy's live for the petty nonsense. Mariah will shut it down if ever she feels like it. It has taken shows and most press until her separation from Nick to stop the Tommy mentions. He is hardly ever brought up now, lol. They barely bring up Nick because she seems so raw about that still and doesn't seem to want to go there at all at least until her divorce is final. She shut down that tattoo question real quick and didn't want to look at it. And I bet she wont talk about hers, lol. Those two will always have a connection though dem babies. As for the other stuff, she just deals with them like some songs from her catalogue, sing them for the nostalgia or something.

Mariah hasn't mentioned Nicki in years. I'm sure she has moved as well and really there was no need to address the Nicki thing at this point; it is what it is. That was all Andy being messy and shady by mentioning her. Mariah handled it perfectly (without being fake). The only reason JLo has been mentioned recently is because of 1) social media using the "I don't know her" meme all the time and 2) JLo recently addressing the "feud" with her "forgetful" line which actually reignited fuel to the fire. I notice this only happen on shady shows like Wendy and Andy. I'm sure the "don't mention these people" clause will be in full affect in the future.

I totally agree. Honestly the interviewers are playing her into the bs as well. 90% of the questions they ask are about shade or her being a diva. Their constant questioning about petty bs belittles what a legend and musical genius she is. If you didn't know anything about Mariah and just listened to most interviewers' question, you wouldn't know that she is one of the best vocalists who has ever lived, but instead you would think she's accomplished little thus bs is all there is to question her about. Who was asking Whitney or Celine the questions that Mariah is asked? How the hell do you have 18 #1 songs, hundreds of millions of albums sold, a 26 year long career and people almost never ask you about your music? It's a "what came first, the chicken or the egg?" scenario. Mariah plays into the diva stereotype and the interviewers eat it up. The interviewers play her like all she has to offer is diva and outlandishness and she takes the bait. I agree, add these dumbass topics to the "do not discuss" list and get the legendary treatment that you deserve.

I lived for MC on WWHL. I thought she was articulate while drinking and as a borderline alcoholic, I know that's hard to do. She mentioned beauty school and lighting and bad sides but she didn't linger and she answered each of his questions and she looked complete perfection. I am happy with it, and if any of you have an issue with it, you are completely nitpicking.

She hasn't addressed it though. She dodged it and added more fuel to the fire. Which is why her interviews will always be about these feuds and shade until she choses to rise above and put an end to it. JLo and Nicki have already put this behind them, which is why they aren't/won't be asked about Mariah years later in all of their interviews.

I hope she never talks about J-Lo, Nicki Minaj or Eminem in her interviews again. I'm tired of all the petty crap being the focus of her interviews. She should make future talk shows agree not to ask her about those topics. Talk about you as an artist. Leave the "feuds", lighting, and being late behind you. If Mariah wants the general public to know her as a songwriter and producer, then that is what her interviews need to be about. Enough with the diva antics. I'm to the point I hate the word diva. It's completely over used.

I have to say MC handled herself well last night with Andy Cohen with all his shadiness. I'm so over the JLo vs Mariah feud already but I have to say I better understand MC on her thoughts with the JLo saga. It just bothers me that the media can nitpick everything MC says as shade but when JLo said she's forgetful everyone pushed under the carpet like not nothing talk about bias.
