Here For It All lyrics (111,664)
by Lambi from USA
| |
|
|
I've tried to decipher it and now I've arrived at thinking some of these are Patricia's words to her, Mariah just flipped the POV and turned it into an ode for her babies so they have something to heal with when Mariah's time come. It's also maybe healing for Mariah hearing her mother's own words. I think this is why she sheds a tear every time it's played on interviews.
"Just whisper something softly to the wind you want Mariah to hear" could've been "Just whisper something softly to the wind you want Patricia to hear" I know this has something to do with Pat because it's a direct reference of "They Called The Wind Maria" [sic] which is where her mom got her name.
The next line, "Just stay with me a while and helped me laugh through the tears til I'm gone" is probably what Pat told Mariah during the last week of her life.
Red carpet in Cannes sent me to the film festival and it's literally just Lenny and Lee near her. Maybe they were comforting her while grieving or that line could totally just be something Mariah thought sounded catchy and well-fitting for the chorus.
Anyway, I really love this ballad. Mariah finally took us back. It feels classic.

I just watched her interview with Keke Palmer and really enjoyed it. People in the comments were saying they should book her in the evenings so she's not so tired and I agree. Still, it was a great interview. It's one of my favorites from this album cycle.

I think those of us who were going to buy the album already did. After Taylor's comes out next week, that's going to dominate the charts for a while. This was our week. It's predicted to debut at #4 on Billboard 200, I heard that's pretty good for a legacy artist.

I would agree if the Chick album was any good. But it's not. It sounds like someone goofing off and perfecting their Courtney Love imitation. I'm a fan of Courtney Love and Hole, but that style just doesn't work for Mariah. I'm all about Mariah expanding her musical horizons, but I'd say a jazz album or an acoustic style album in the vein of "Right to Dream" would work better.
Mariah has a relatively narrow window to promote "Here for It All" before she goes abroad for more Mimi anniversary shows. And then before you know it, she will be prepping for the Christmas shows in Vegas. An album of this caliber deserved to receive a robust promotional push.

Question (111,644)
by Dove from United States
| |
|
|
I have a question someone might have the answer to. One time, I heard a song on the radio that was so terrible I know there was no way anybody liked it. But it was playing on the radio every day, every hour. How do songs get chosen to be played on the radio? Like, who decides what's getting played every day, every hour?

My dream (111,640)
by Bill from the UK
| |
|
|
Thought I'd share with you the dream I had last night about Mariah. She was in the UK doing some promo, and I went out of my way to go to where she was to see her and hopefully meet her. I waited and waited but didn't get to see her, and by then it was really late and, despite it being in London, there was no way for me to get home. So, I settled down outside the hotel she was staying at. At about 3am she came out to escape from everything and have a moment to herself. I let her have her ten minutes, then I tentatively called out to her, explained I wasn't a crazy stalker and that I couldn't get home, and what a big impact she had on my life. She was genuinely pleased and touched, and hugged me when I, through tears, told her how much her music had changed my life and thanked her for all she went through to keep people like me from being gifted with her songs. We hugged tightly for a long time, and then she went back inside. If I never meet Mariah in person, and I sadly doubt I ever will, I'll always have that moment in my dream. She loooed so beautiful.

New voice (111,615)
by Dove from United States
| |
|
|
I was almost in tears that she was singing live on Jimmy Fallon tonight. Just because I thought maybe her voice was really shot like people were saying. It's different, but I like it. It's crazy how every three albums we get a new voice from her.
When I first heard Sugar Sweet, I was scared because it was so thin and whispery. But just like athletes, we can't expect singers to stay at their prime forever. Mariah's prime was supernatural and I don't think it'll ever be matched. Her new voice and tones work for me. I liked Sugar Sweet before, but I love it even more now in the context of the album.
I've been playing My Love and Here For It All on repeat all day. I can't get enough. My Love makes me long for that kind of love. Maybe in my next life.
Sidenote: the original My Love was actually my first ex-husband's song for me. A long time ago. We went to see Paul McCartney and he sang "our song" a few years before we got a divorce. I thought it was a sign that I was supposed to keep trying to make it work. But of course he was going to sing that song. Ha ha.
For a long time I couldn't listen to that song. But now I just think, maybe he did love me in his own possessive way. Sometimes he said the right things and I really wanted it to be true. I really wanted someone to love me.
Anyway, this new version gives it a new life for me. Thank you Mariah. It's better than I could have hoped.

Play that Song video (111,576)
by Dove from United States

I like it. It's simple but she looks beautiful and that house is really nice. I like her boots. I bought some like that but they were knock offs from Shein so they were very uncomfortable. I could only stand in them for a few minutes. Ha ha.
Black and white videos usually look so classic and timeless. Everyone looks their best in black and white. I guess she really is dating that dude. I hope he treats her well. I wouldn't say this is one of my favorite videos but it's better than no video. I like the song and their voices together.
I kind of wish she was wearing a longer coat. Maybe like a black trench coat. And that the shorts were a little longer. I'm over the underwear look. At least she has the body for it though. I'm thankful for whatever videos we get and I'm thankful for the ensembles. I see it like in The Devil Wears Prada, the clothes are art too.

That's true. Most of her albums have had crap reviews but every single one is a 10/10. Even Charmbracelet, which I consider to be her weakest album, is better than most people's best album.

Means nothing to me, when you give TEOM 3 stars that tells me everything I need to know about your taste. We all know that album is 5 stars and a 10/10 and Mariah definitely deserved the Grammy for AOTY. People have to remember there are many in the industry and editorial boards still to this day who hate Mariah and don't want her to break The Beatles record or be successful. I already know HFIA is going to be one of Mariah's best albums but before I give it a listen I will be listening to Caution. I'm curious where are y'all purchasing your physical copy if you haven't already ordered? I'm thinking of buying mine at Walmart lol I just don't like Target anymore and haven't been in one in years.

Touring (111,480)
by Dove from United States
| |

|
I think she should stop touring too. She needs to rest. I love seeing her on stage in her magical, glittery ensembles but I would rather she rest and spend her time with her kids and release a studio album once in a while. For the art and fun of it. I mean, they're fourteen. In a few years they'll start their own lives. She should cherish every moment.
Growing up, my mom never worked. I remember feeling so safe knowing my mom was always home. Even if I was being a brat or too cool for my mom I loved knowing she was there if I needed her. Not every mother has the luxury of being able to stay home most of the time.
She could still connect with fans through social media and doing public appearances sparingly. She could keep the Christmas residency going since it's only a few weeks out of the year.
Just my thoughts. That's what I would do.

I almost fell for it because the writer seemed like a lamb. He even knows Mariah's lingo "just for laughs" or "just for the nostalgia". But the main giveaway that he's actually a hater is him randomly referencing Save the Day and Heavenly (her worst songs). Like, girl, why would you do that? Out of all the phenomenal songs in Mariah's catalogue, those are the two you choose to highlight? LMAO.

It was very evident that the issue wasn't Mariah. They were simply unprepared, period. The whole setup was a mess. Kai called his friends to come up, and when they showed, they looked like they'd just woken up. Total chaos.
They asked Mariah to bring words for a spelling bee segment, but clearly had no plan. No structure, no flow, nothing. Kai, you had Mariah Carey on your show, not Da Brat. Next time, do your homework

Can I vent about how stupid I am? I thought the project was in a vault somewhere and no one had heard it. I felt like a complete idiot during the Sza interview, when someone in the crowd had a CD, and she played snippets, and I had to ask my Mariahbro has the album been released? I did not know it was recorded by a group named Chick and released with MC backing vocals and as a hidden writer. I really thought she had it in the vault and no one had ever heard the music period. Now I've completely lost interest. Ya'll wanna hear her vocals over it but I just feel deflated about hearing the real singer of a Milli Vanilli esque story. I'm so deflated.

Kelly Clarkson Show (111,453)
by Dove from United States
| |
|
|
I'm kind of bummed out she's not going on the Kelly Clarkson show. One time my brother and I were watching Kelly, in an interview or something, and my brother said I acted like her. I know she's a Taurus, like me. I can get along with most people, but the few times people haven't liked me, it's usually been fire signs.
A long time ago when Kelly won American Idol she went on Oprah's show and Oprah was super rude to her. She kept talking over her and wouldn't even look at her. Oprah is also a fire sign. It was very obvious she didn't like her.
I grew up watching Oprah. When I was a broke college student I would even set aside money from my very small grocery store budget to buy her magazine. Oprah probably wouldn't like me either. That makes me so sad. I was a devoted book club member.
Then when Kelly was super pregnant and started crying during her performance on American Idol, Jennifer Lopez was looking at her like she was disgusted by her. She's also a fire sign. If she doesn't like Kelly she wouldn't like me. I don't care too much about her, though.
I know Kelly adores Mariah and she's in her top favorite artists of all time. Back when Kelly was on American Idol, the contestants had a profile online with their favorite artists. Kelly had Mariah Carey and Reba McIntyre as hers. She would sing the songs Mariah had covered since she wasn't allowed to sing actual Mariah Carey songs. But she was respectful and sang them differently.
I know Kelly is a huge lamb like I am. She's only a little older than me. After my brother said that I acted like her I started seeing myself in her more. She's more of a down-to-earth celebrity, than a glitzy superstar like Mariah, but she's still famous.
She's always wanted to do a song with Mariah and it still hasn't happened. I would say she's as famous as Ariana. And now she's not even going on her show. How often does Mariah have new projects to promote these days?
If she didn't feel comfortable singing, I'm sure Kelly wouldn't make her. She seems loyal and like a good friend. All those other shows she's going on are not as big of fans as Kelly. Kelly said she used to read the liner notes while listening to her albums like we did. When she auditioned for American Idol she knew Randy Jackson because of the liner notes.
I guess I'm just super sensitive right now and am taking it personally because if Mariah doesn't like Kelly, she probably wouldn't like me. I think I'm projecting.
Thank you for reading my heartfelt and probably embarrassing rant.

I don't like how Nick's baby mommas are listed by name sometimes when there's a story about Mariah. Is that necessary? It rubs me the wrong way. I'm a little bummed because I'm going to be super busy the weekend the album comes out and won't be able to listen to it the way I wanted to at the same time you guys are. I wanted to listen to it all the way through a few times (like in the old days) before I form solid opinions about it.
I may steer clear of message boards and reviews before I listen and decide how I feel about it myself.
I remember when Mariah went to Jamaica in 2015. I watched the clips before I came here to read everyone's posts. I thought she sounded so amazing and looked so beautiful. Then I came here and everyone was roasting her. It kind of did influence my opinion, I think.
So I'm going to take a little break from here when it comes out (even though I really want to know what everyone else has to say) so that I can get to know it one-on-one.

Packer (111,316)
by Dove from United States

When I was growing up my mom and grandma were super religious. I was too. I bought some astrology books in a yard sale when I was like 13. I got really into it. I would meet people and see if their personalities matched with what their planet placements said about them (if I knew their planet placements). When my mom found my stash (of books) she threw them all out. I took a long break but it always remained a secret interest of mine.
As I got older I became more spiritual than religious but I still always pray because I like having a relationship with God. I will pray for you that you will choose the path that will benefit your life the best.

That is hilarious. Yup, I've helped a girlfriend find out if she was being cheated on by looking at her man's tagged photos. She thanked me endlessly. I'm exactly like your friend, I analyze people to their core too. Usually, I just know if I want to be around someone or not. They might not have necessarily done anything, but something in my spirit tells me no. It's a great thing. I've always been pretty blunt as well, and I'm not afraid to call people out on their BS.
Thanks, lamb. I'm a Bible-believing Christian, but you've just sparked an interest in me about zodiac signs. By the way, I may pursue being hired to be in Mariah's team soon so hopefully I get to relay a lot of lambs valid sentiments from here. It's not quite a solid decision yet though. Praying about it. Wish me luck.

I get why some of you may be disappointed by the album's length, especially due to the time we've patiently waited for new material. I for one don't mind it. The appeal of Caution was how concise it was and that it felt like a tight, deliberate production. Shorter albums are easier to spin for me. As I don't do playlists and listen to an album end to end, it's much easier for me to play Emotions, Daydream or Unplugged than it is to book an afternoon off work to listen to the 97 tracks on Charmbracelet, and sit there watching my hair turn grey as she enters into the whispery chorus of Lullaby for the 27th time. Okay, you should just hug him goodbye. I get it.

Scorpios are natural detectives. I was once on a dating app for three days and my Scorpio female friend found out everything about a guy I went on a few dates with. Even what the inside of his house looked like (from when it was listed for sale before he bought it). She found so much information about him with very little. I think I just knew his name and his birthday. She always has the tea before anyone else at work too. She's low-key and quiet but she notices everything and people just tell her stuff. It's crazy. She doesn't like everyone so I'm thankful to have her as a friend. She's very loyal too. Scorpios and Geminis are supposed to be the "bad guys" of the zodiac but they're my favorite. I'm a Taurus.

I love it. We'll pray for the right man. Men are called to provide, and I bet Nick and Bryan both felt they came up short because you just can't out-earn Mariah. The guy has to be fully aware that she's an exception, not the rule, and her making more money shouldn't emasculate anyone. Literally, we all get it. Mariah is rich as hell.
The one time she's with a billionaire who can actually match her wealth, it blows up in her face. Mariah's insane with money. She sued Packer for $50 million and walked away with 5 to 10 million plus kept the 35-carat diamond ring. I think at this time, she still has residual anger from divorcing Nick so she may have subconsciously lashed the rest of the anger out, on a billionaire.
Bad move though, because after much thinking, and with how Packer has now been exposed in high-profile corruption involving the Israeli Prime Minister who has crazy power in the US government and Hollywood, I'm now inclined to believe that he pulled some strings behind the scenes to get back at her. Their settlement was November 2016, and Mariah's public humiliation happened December 2016. That was such a straight savage move, and I feel stupid for not seeing the picture clearer much sooner. I wouldn't be shocked if Stella was instrumental on this inside job and was paid off as well. I thought Nick sounded stupid when he said, "The government did that," but now I see you can literally draw a straight line from Mariah to Packer to the US government, and it makes perfect sense.
Anyway, my point is that Bryan was truly a godsend to her at that time. I wish their romance had blossomed the first time they met on the tour bus in 2006. Their love story was cute: "We sprawled out over several tables and booths. We'd already started shooting flirty glances at each other in the bus about twenty miles back. We sat across from each other in a booth like eighth graders. We softly touched each other's legs under the table, undetected while the rest of the party roared on." And it's crazy how this is the same man who saved her exactly 10 years later, during what would become the darkest time of her life.

The OGs have a separate category dahling. We are fans but wouldn’t say we act like lambs. The only cross over is our ruler Bobby A who is a combination of every type of fan you can have which is why he is the best one.
