About Mara from United States:
I'm a Mariah fan since the debut. Been through her entire career with her and may not always agree with every single thing she does, But i will always come to her defense when she gets attacked for being misunderstood. I am not a blind fan and relate Mariah to a sister who I would tell in a minute if something seems wrong or something of that nature. I come to this board to discuss her with people who I feel are true fans and yes, some don't always praise her to the heavens every single moment but we all are here for the same reason and we do adore her.

Mariah's style (62,957)
by Mara from United States

Wow. I just have to say Mariah looks amazing in that black dress. Wow. Her body looks better than ever and her face is matching it. Her hair looks great that color and length. I am not the biggest fan of her hair poker straight and parted in the middle, but this look is great and reminds me of the #Beautiful era hair. I think this length is great too since it's still sexy but not like a length where you look like it's extensions taking over your body. The other dress was nice too but that black dress was on point. And Mariah, whatever you are doing to get your arms back in shape is working. I'm getting my inspiration here lol. I don't know what it is about MC but whenever her face is thin she literally looks like she aged backwards at least 10 years. Simply losing weight does not do that for everyone. She really could have a great era if everything lines up. The look is back, we just need one hot song. Even if it's a theme song from MW. I can't wait to see the Vegas show and if she changes the ensambles at all. Wouldn't it be fun if she came out in a showgirl outfit like Breakdown or ISIL video?

Completely agree Licia. I feel it all does come down to Mariah in the end. And I know we can blame those around her but Mariah is the boss at the end of the day.

Everything but the music (62,643)
by Mara from United States

I just had to get something off my mind. I noticed lately since MC's new management she has been into everything but new music. She has Vegas, which she was working on before so I won't really count that, but she is doing the SSFT with it possibly continuing in October in Brazil. She has this show on E, greatest hits CD, Hallmark deal, Christmas shows, even her own vodka. Some people have posted on here stating that if we are concerned about some things we cannot be true fans/lambs. I cannot sit here and try and prove what a true fan I am or not. I have been there since day one and I was in 8th grade. I have seen Mariah evolve from the young 19 year old girl to her grand wedding to TM to her face at the Grammy awards the year she was completely robbed and she was wearing her lime dress and white dress and every time her name was announced TM was seen smacking his gum while she sat there as Alanis M won it all and all I could think was how cold he was and how she deserved someone who would be good to her. To her getting the courage to leave him and go through freedom and then Glitter and overcoming that and then to see her finally becoming a mother which I admit I never thought I'd see, to now all of this. So I am sorry if I look to any of you as a non lamb but I am anything but. I am sorry if I feel protective of her and I don't like what I see. Is MC looking like she is having a ball and loving life? Maybe. Who really knows? Is she making money since this new management? Yes. But most everything she is into now, is what Stella is known for too. Stella if you want to get the trust of Mariah's *insert whatever adjective you want* fans then please use your influence to get her to record some new music. This is what she lives for or at least always said she did. It's where she creates her masterpieces. Don't sit there on Instagram with your daughter and whoever else and throw up the birds telling haters to F off. Where is the maturity in that? This is a living legend you represent and please don't attack me that Mariah can't have fun. Of course she could, and I don't want anyone saying you want the Mariah that was under TM. That is farthest from the truth. Butterfly was one of my fav eras seeing her so free. But if Mariah does not care to make new music ok, we don't really know that. But how about the next time you try to talk to her about her next project, you remind her about the music. Sorry if I'm sounding demanding, I don't mean to and would never tell Mariah what to do. I'm talking about a manager that seems to have her in everything but.

Not happy with Stella right now if this is what this docuseries is already known for. I hope this link works Eric, this little quote on how this is being perceived is not good.

I noticed that too when the dancer was brought up. He is a young good looking guy and let's face it, she is Mariah freaking Carey and makes that entrance during her shows like a goddess and she beautifully striking in person. He probably grew a little crush on her and I'm sure Mariah had a ball on this tour traveling the world and it showed. She's engaged, but that doesn't mean we can't be attracted to other people or appreciate a handsome guy. I have to say when MC doesn't want to address an issue or question she sure totally diverts the question.

WWHL aftershow (62,370)

Did anyone catch the aftershow? Mariah shut down a fan who mentioned her being vulnerable on the docuseries, so it doesn't sound like that's a side we are going to see portrayed this time. If anyone has a link to the aftershow and could post it, I would be very grateful. I missed the last 7 min or so.

The biggest surprise for me on this doc-u-series is if Mariah actually let people see "her". Never mind playing off the diva act and just going along with "that" all the time. That gets really old quick and really doesn't let us see her as who she is. Unless that is, that Mariah does indeed live her life that way. I think seeing a serious side to her every now and then would really humanize her and just be nice once and a while. I get that the diva act is fun, but sometimes that other side is what really could make Mariah relatable to us common folk so to speak. I hope we don't have to wait too long for it to air and hopefully on WWHL she will give the air date.

So the first trailer/promo video came out today. Did anyone see it? If you search it, you will find it. Sounds like they are trying to it out there how misunderstood MC is, and I saw a few more plays on the diva act with her being in on the act. I am excited for it. On a side note MC got it so right with the GLAAD dress but the tiger stripe flashy dress with fishnet stockings and black platform heals. Ugh MC I'm sorry, that one didn't work for me. I wish she was more consistent with her fashion. Classy and sexy. She is too big of a star and too beautiful to wear that dress she had on to promote the doc-u-series.

Haiji, I appreciate the time you put into this post. I enjoyed reading it and agree with a lot that you said. I can tell you are a big fan who followed Mariah or just understands where she may be coming from. I do believe a lot of what is going on and has been going on now, stems from the past. I also think Memoirs is literally just that. Like entries in a diary, even going back to a song as airy and "cute" as Candy Bling. The lyrics to that song could be about the boyfriend she had as far back as high school that passed away. When she mentions "thinkin' bout the 10th grade, thinkin' bout 11th and Heaven" we all have those moments where we think about our youth and past loves and crave for those times again. I had one of those moments last month and Candy Bling's lyrics fit perfectly even to the high school grade. Mariah is beyond talented and she can't fool me with the diva antics as all real fans know and can see through the real Mariah. I sometimes feel on this board especially that the older fans from her debut get looked at by the newer or younger fans as we are stuck in this "we need Mariah to be the way Mottola wanted her to be" and that's simply not true. I grew as a fan along with Mariah and was fortunate enough to experience all these eras live and I'm so happy I did. We were the ones who got to see Mariah evolve into who she is now. Were there eras we preferred or other ways we wanted her to go? Of course, but we will always support her and look forward to the music. Mariah always spoke to my soul and I can honestly say that no other artist has ever. So I really appreciate your post and can totally see where you are coming from, so thank you for taking the time to compose it. And here's looking towards the next era that I hope is around the corner. I am in desperate need of new MC lyrical gems.

Anthony I completely know where you are coming from. I'm not quite sure what to make of it all. I do know all this has been recorded and planned on being showed on the E show or not but if it is, I hope they are careful on how they portray her. The public never seem to give Mariah a pass on things they give other female celebrities a pass on. Part of that is of and I hate to say it, Mariah's own doing. Like Mimi L said in the ET interview when mentioning the twins turning 5 instead of answering like a proud mom and saying something along the lines of "I can't believe how much they've grown", we get her flicking the hair in front of her face saying don't say it or something along the lines of that. The whole age thing is getting a little old. She is a grown woman who looks amazing for her age and she should be proud of that. Her actions sometimes I just can't justify and wish she would be a little more humble when asked some questions. The diva act is just so overplayed at this point and does not go over well with non-diehard fans. I don't understand. Some interviews came across really well but I really hope we see the fun things but not the real diva things all the time. I sometimes miss the way Mariah used to talk just in a normal voice without always over accentuating words with the drama. It's almost like Mariah has fully become a caricature of Mariah Carey and we don't ever see the real Mariah anymore between the image always on and every camer shot has to be perfect and touching the hair at all times to pulling the shades down or the showing of the boots to whatever. Ok sorry for the tangent as Mariah would say. All said in love.

Exactly, at this point in her career it's like why? Mariah has always been a smart businesswoman but lately she makes me question her actions or shall I say decisions. Like you said, ok if you want to do this behind the scenes and have fun, but do you really want the perception of you to be that? And again, what about JP?

I agree Mimi L. It is beginning to become redundant. I get that it was a fan that had it on his shirt but why post it. It only makes JLo look like the one who took the high road. I also saw the videos just posted from the vodka launch party and oh boy. All I can say is these two particular dancers have become very close to MC lately and are always seen in photos, and very close in range to her. If I was JP I think it might make me a little uncomfortable. I get that she is feeling very confident again and looks amazing and I'm sure she is working incredibly hard to get back in top form so maybe she is just having fun. Mariah has always been flirtatious in a fun cute way but this was a bit much and not only that but there were multiple ones shared along with one of her dancing up on a female friend while Anthony filmed. It just seems a little odd for a woman with a fiancé planning her wedding that is supposed to be shown on TV. Running off to duck the stones now.

Not at all Martyn. I think that's what makes us all the diverse group that we are. I think everyone has an opinion on what means more or resonates on a more personal level. Personally the Emotions album is my all time favorite due to some of the hauntingly beautiful songs and how rich her voice was back then. But Butterfly spoke to me at that time when it was released on a personal level and I related to so many songs on it that I think that is where the connection was and still is. MIAM is a phenomenal album with a lot of beautiful songs with meaning.indo wish it included TAOLG too though.

Re: MIAMTEC vs Butterfly (61,433) (61,445)
by Mara from United States

Edward I could not agree more with you. While I appreciate MIAMTEC and especially love the sound of Meteorite as something different, Butterfly is really a masterpiece. It is one of those albums in an artists career that just stands out. Everything about it, even down to the colors of the album and the title and how it represented her. The music, lyrics and vocals. The longing and vivid recollection almost make you visualize the songs as she sang them. MIAM I often feel depressed listening to and knowing what she was going through and even though Butterfly had some darker songs about love, they didn't put me there. And One More Try, when I heard that she was doing it I think I just heard it in my head sung a complete different way and I don't know if it was her mood at the time but it was almost and I can't believe I am saying this but almost not soulful enough. The beginning and all those high ohhhs did not fit with that song. I think a more stripped down vocal would have sounded better. But there were a lot of behind the scenes things going on with that album too so as Mariah would say "it is what it is".

Loving the fact that Mariah brought Bianca back after all this time. Not loving how, ugh makeup MC has on in these photos though. I can't put my finger on it but Mariah looks different. I noticed it in the last pics that were posted with a male fan. Is it the eyebrows? In the one Bianca pic someone thought she looked like a Jackson. I don't know about that, but she does look different. I wish she would tone down some of that contouring though, maybe that is what it is as Mariah always just brushed the apples of her cheeks with some color. It was never this harsh. I noticed in those pics Stella, Mariah and Miska almost look the same. It has to be the way the makeup is being applied. I am not crazy about the eyebrows either. Sorry MC, everything else looks great. Her body is amazing in these pics.

That would be so ideal at this point B. She needs to take advantage of how amazing, powerful and clear she sounds and record something now. We know Mariah loves the studio and people refer her to a "studio artist" and she sounds good in the studio when her voice has been in rougher shape. Imagine how she would sound now recording new songs. Mariah, even if you have any left off tracks that were never released from the Butterfly era, the way your voice is sounding you can sing those and release them. Even if you recorded a secret album from before MIAM and have something ready to go, re-record it with they way you sound now. And take advantage of this time on E and let it show how talented and creative you are. Get a new song out ASAP with all this promotion. As Stella says Mariah is on fire. Let's go.

Listening to all these fabulous clips of how amazingly clear and powerful her voice is, I am really craving new music now. I really hope she records new material ASAP and maybe we can see that process during the E show. She literally sounds amazing right now and I can see the second coming of Butterfly or better. The power in her voice along with her confidence is all lined up for this. Please make it happen.

I have noticed the seeing eye jewelry on Stella yes. One of the first thing I noticed when Mariah was first seen with her. I also notice how she always only mentions love, laughter and light. But never any mention of God and we know how Mariah was always very spiritual and into her gospel. Stella seems to worship money greed and fame. Sad but she posted that herself. Something along the lines that if it didn't involve making her money it wasn't worth her time or something of that nature.

I noticed that too Mimi L. As soon as I read the statement from "Mariah" on Brussels I knew it was all Stella. It's almost like she is playing with us now and doing it more to tick us off. Example all the posts about Mishka and filming and getting glammed up like she is the one people want to see. I don't know what is going on but I always thought Mariah seemed like a smart businesswoman who could see through certain things. The way this girl is literally always seen no matter where Mariah is, right next to Mariah. It's really getting disturbing. It seemed off to me back when she was on the yacht with JP over the summer and she never had any privacy. I really think she wanted the name of the show to be Mariah's Squad as in her and her daughters. Oh and throw in a little Kristopher B and a few others. But she wanted to be the star. I'm sorry, I may be wrong but I don't like the vibe I'm getting. And when you mess with fans and call them haters all over the internet because we are only looking out for MC, then you need to have a refresher course on how to deal with the public and I'm not sure if I were a star on the magnitude such as Mariah Carey I would want a woman holding peace signs with seeing eyes and duck faces and her tween daughter representing me.

The hair. I love Mariah with this length. It makes her look younger and freshens her up. I love it. Really takes years off her. That opening ensemble is hot. I remember first seeing Mariah come out into the audience opening with Heartbreaker during the Charmbracelet tour with that draping silver two piece outfit. She looked like a diamond goddess. The other black outfit I saw looked amazing too. I'm loving the fierce MC. Cannot wait to see the behind the scene scenes in the E special. I am so excited about what is to come. I think it will really let the people who do not know Mariah know the inside side to her and hopefully this will do nothing but help her public image. I would love to go along with her in her planning stages of her wedding. Whether we like it or not, this is a part of fame right now and why shouldn't Mariah go with it? I'm really looking forward to hearing clips of AAO and WYB along with Loverboy. I wish there were a few more rare ones in there bit I'll take it. Really loving her look though especially the hair.
