Again unbelievably inaccurate. Look at my response. I simply debunked the insinuation of me bringing "bad vibes", I've been having fun with the discussions here and really enjoy giving Mariah love. Far from "bitchy and petty diatribe".
If you actually wanna talk about petty, look at the contrast of how we treated an exiting lamb. I wished him well and your sentiment to him is, "I'm dead serious, if you go, you can never twerk with us again."
Mariah felt like an outsider and many of her fans connected to her with that. So it's safe to say a lot of lambs is simply looking for a place of connection and belonging. I mean sure, Brad may have had his moments and you can have all the disagreement you want with him but that no one should be rejoicing when someone permanently leaves. It's giving "you have no place in the fandom". You can virtue signal all you want but people can see who the true bullies are.

Honestly yeah I thought about this. The artwork missed the mark but it is ultimately going to be about the music. I can't wait to hear the ballads on this record.

Very interesting album title. I could care less about the album cover, I care about the music. I hope this album is successful and MC can get herself another number one to her name. "Sugar sweet" has a vibe and is catchy, I already like it so I'm ready.

Inaccurate. I just praised the hell out of Webmaster, wished Brad well and expressed a lamb redeemed should be celebrated. I even just raved about Mariah's respectful gesture towards Paul McCartney. Far from bad vibes.

"He doesn't need to change a damn thing", sadly he did though. He's gotten significantly better at proof-reading and editing. It's actually amazing. He allowed Libra Lamb to be posted again only when she expressed how being silenced is the reason why she doesn't come anymore. Her being posted is Eric's response to that, that strike a chord within him so yeah, "he's gotten more fair" is the correct assessment. It's not a bad thing to improve. It brought back a lamb so he clearly did something right.

Eric's been fair with everyone on this board, consistently. That's basically the board's unofficial consensus since dial-up days. He doesn't need to change a damn thing. The man's been moderating like a pro for over two decades, longer than some of you have been out of high school.
If it were up to a few people here with their "cancel everything that mildly annoys me" attitude, this board would've been nuked years ago. So shout out to Eric for keeping this circus running smoothly.

Amen. Well said. None of us "characters" have any kind of "in" with the webmaster. I have a few MC CDs listed in his discography but that's my only connection. I've had posts edited and/or not posted many times. Folks just need to stop feeling like it's their duty to set others straight, to reprimand. I'd be rich too if I got paid for everytime an insult is thrown my way. It's laughable how many times me being a teacher has been made fun of. Honestly, just stop. Enjoy the conversation. It ain't that deep, lol.

I don't think you fully understood the context. I said, "What's your excuse? Someone was mean so you quit?" Limbra Lamb was like, "No I didn't quit, my messages stopped getting posted." She's expressed her disdain about being silenced but for what ever reason, she is getting posted again so that should be celebrated. A lamb has been redeemed.
Brad obviously falls in the category of "bitter" lambs but not necessarily "silenced" lambs. I can see why you correlate them though but no totally disconnected. I probably should've added spaces on the paragraphs. I have no idea how Brad landed to bitterness. Frankly have zero time to look at his post history but we wish him well, he seemed very insightful. Hopefully he returns.

Nobody said anything negative to Brad, except Victoria, who implied the board was full of "hating ass hoes". I guess she included herself in the mix, minus the "hating" and "ass" parts. Some people just love to stir the pot and make things up. Brad made a vague comment about the board, but nothing specific. It was weird because, as you said, we were all just joking around about album titles and having a good time. The vibe was light.
Looking at his recent posts, it's pretty clear Brad hasn't been happy with anything Mariah-related lately, which is totally fine. The problem is, when he chose to leave, he acted like this place was some toxic nightmare and he just couldn't deal anymore. That doesn't make sense, especially when most folks here actually liked "Type Dangerous" and the video.
Many love playing the victim and throwing digital tantrums, they start acting like they're here to reprimand others, which is just ridiculous. We've got positive folks, critical folks, and everyone in between, but we've all been part of this board for a long time. Brad completely trashed "Type Dangerous", can you imagine if I had gone off on him for not liking it? It'd be absurd.
Time to stop being so damn sensitive, it ain't that serious. This board is going to keep being what it is. If I had a penny for every time someone complained about a person, a post, or the entire board, I'd be filthy rich by now. Some keep trying, but nobody's going to be walking on eggshells here.

Hey Libra. I too had my rebuttals silenced so I agree with that. It's very political here. Someone that's closer to Webmaster will have more of a voice which isn't really fair gamed. Allow people to defend their positions and allow the lambilies to decide on the verdict. People can read who is out of touch.
But I have brought it up to Webmaster and explained why it pushes people away. Thank you for confirming the sentiment. Brad probably falls into the same category of the lambs that eventually peace'd out because of bitterness. He was probably already bitter way before this recent incident.
To Eric's credit though, he's gotten way better. He just edits certain things now that could potentially open up of a can of worms, I can see why he does it. He's gotten more fair. He's well-meaning. Also proof-reading and approving hundreds of messages must be a workload so we have to cut him some slack.

How thoughtful of MC (109,921)
by Lambi from USA
| |
|
|
She knows what it's like to be dethroned by Old Town Road, she could've turned bitter but she was a complete class act, sharing a photoshopped image of herself passing the torch to Lil Nas and celebrating with him.
I feel the same recurring theme with purposely including Paul McCartney on this record: "Hey Sir, I am banking real hard on this album, and I think there's a real chance I might break the record you've held for so long. If I do, I wanted to include you in the moment."
This is the kind of sweetheart Mariah truly is. She has always shown respect to the legends. Even when she was just starting out, she introduced her cover of Don't Play That Song by saying, "This is a tribute to the incomparable Aretha Franklin." It's like she's saying, "I'm about to perform your song with everything I've got, and I will absolutely crush and do it justice, but please know I'm not trying to outshine you."

Yeah, like I said this is just the internet interneting. People are mean, and they'll try out being mean online. Have you seen all the unhinged comments on Instagram and X? I feel like we're actually pretty mild and somewhat level-headed here.
Also, if you're a Mariah fan, you should try to aspire like her and have thick skin. Homegirl had her family's dog poisoned, their car set on fire, got spit on the face, and had the N-word chanted at her repeatedly while being cornered. What we experience online now in 2025 is like a bite from a fire ant compared to that. She experienced real-life racism in the '70s and '80s and still managed to become the wealthiest, most successful, and most significant out of all her bullies.
What's your excuse? Someone dropped a mean comment online, so you have to pack it in? We're all built tougher than that, lamb.

It was very mean and vulgar that someone called him hating a. h. I would be shocked too for a minute, but for me that's kindergarten talking. I wouldn't take it serious. It's fine that everyone has a different taste, but no one should fear to be named like that, just because of his thoughts. I hope he comes back here, but I doubt it.

Brad, this is just welcome to the internet in 2025. You just have to develop thicker skin. You sound innocent though. I actually think you are genuinely a nice puppy that no one should be kicking. Everyone be nice to Brad.

Cover art (109,907)
by Lambi from USA

She probably wanted it to coincide with the black and white Daydream cover art. 30th anniversary this year by the way, which I assume she has unreleased trinkets already planned out to bless us with. Daydream is special because it's her most influential. I agree she could've slayed way harder and made it black and white no matter what. But maybe it's an "instant grit" cover art, just like how she had those teaser reel videos for Type: Dangerous. I'm pretty sure she'll change it to be honest. Mariah listens to fans. She changed the initial art work for TEOM when lambs brought up it looked like Beyoncé. Lol.

Cover art (109,893)
by Mimi L. from Empower Your Highlighter

Ok don't hate me please, I don't want to be negative Nancy but I'm not a huge fan of the cover art. It doesn't scream I am coming for your wigs Beatles haha. It doesn't scream Billboard count your days bish. The cover art is very pretty but it's something more like for a greatest hits album or "the love songs" collection. It's not memorable like TEOM or even catchy like Caution. Also maybe like a beauty magazine cover shoot. The way they posed the era starting with she wants to get 2 more #1's the album cover doesn't match the vibe. I hope we get some alternate versions too with a more fierce look. Also someone said a few posts back she needs a new stylist. I agree. We also need her out of these huge diamond necklaces and diamond bracelet stacks, they are very early 2000s vibe and it ages her a bit which is crazy because she is at another beauty peak. If she wants to pull in the number she needs the streaming audience that is mostly younger.

The problem with Type: Dangerous (109,774)
by Brad from USA
| |
|
|
There is simply nothing uniquely Mariah about this "song". Her name and voice are a "brand" at this point and there is a listener expectation of something unique to her sound or abilities with every song. Most of her songs deliver that. Type: Dangerous does not. Any person could sing this "song", as it never results in a moment that is identifiably Mariah. It's bland, generic and in some places crass. Does anyone really want to hear a 56 year old Mariah calling people "hatin ass hoes"? Apparently not. Not to mention ya don't do that as a mother when you have a teenage daughter. Bad move, Mariah. We all know she can do better while still being "on trend". This song is just garbage. And it reflects poorly on her judgment that she didn't realize it before putting it out. Let's hope for better from MC16.

Aww, a dog lamb. That's too freaking cute. I seriously love those songs too. I still play IBLYLT, Cruise Control, I'm That Chick and Migrate on a whim. It takes me right back to summer 2008, my friends and I would blast this record driving the beach strip, windows down. E=MC² had so many bops, it's stupid. I sometimes forget Mariah intended for it to be Emancipation to the second power. Didn't quite have the same success but hey, she was in love and trying to get a family started, so we'll let the missed potential slide. We all gotta live. Still such a fun, underrated era.

You don't know how many times I used to play and sing along to "I'll Be Loving You Long Time" in the summer of 2008. I still do some times. It's a real pity that it wasn't promoted properly. It could have been a hit. And Mimi in the video, wow.
By the way, I've always loved "I Stay in Love" as well. In fact, a dog of mine was called "Baby, I stay in love with you" (short version: "Baby") after the song because, when he was a puppy and I would sing that little part around him, he used to come to me. So that became his name, but in the singing mode. Lol. Everybody got amazed whenever I sang his name and he would appear from wherever.

Wait, that's crazy. "Someday" is very "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" type of record. I totally get why they tried to snatch that song, it's a hit. It blows my mind how people have been trying to low ball Mariah since day one.
Brenda K. Starr tried it too, laying down 5k for her songs when she was broke, hungry and vulnerable. But MC, even in that situation, was basically like "no thanks". Honestly though, I think she's always been smart like that. Like when she was 14 and did demo vocals for a sketchy local loser band from her hometown, she basically told them, "I'll sing your stuff, but you're gonna help me record my songs, and those songs are mine. You're not involved." Who thinks like that at 14? It's insane. She was even roasting their song writing, "These are so corny, how do you not know what's on rotation on the radio?" LMAO.
Mariah's always known her worth deep inside. Always. And when she says in interviews, "Music was the one thing that made me feel special and worth something", I genuinely believe it.

You're right there was a bidding war to sign her between Warners and, as it was back then, CBS records. When the "demo tape incident" happened at the party Brenda K Starr took her to, MC was already in negotiations with WB. I've no idea what numbers each party threw in, but all Mariah ever said about it was that it was CBS allowing her to write her own songs that sealed it for her. I think they could have even offered less money and she still would have gone with them on that element alone.
Clive Davis actually tried to buy the song Someday for Whitney, it was then that Mariah realised she could indeed write a good pop song and rather than selling it (as tempting as it was for a young girl "without a penny to her name") she retained it for herself and it gave her even more determination to become an artist in her own right.

New album (109,720)
by Lambi from USA

I don't know, the Type Dangerous music video is so grand. The writings on the wall says she's ready to burn everything down to the ground just to get that 20th number one. The production looks just as expensive as the latest AIWFCIY video. She's really not playing around.
And the fact that she left Roc Nation, Jay-Z's company, says something. Not sure why this detail matters but homeboy is married to someone who tends to overshadow just about everyone in the industry. Mariah probably woke up to this but one thing is clear, she is fully done letting her hits go unnoticed. I don't fault her though, A No No will always be the bop that got away.
Her move to Gamma feels just like 97, when homegirl flew all the way to Japan to meet directly with the higher-ups at Sony, the ones above Tommy, just to take control of her career and handle her label issues. It has that same lady boss energy.
I believe Mariah probably just had another rude awakening with T:D. It turns out, it's not all about marketing, you need to have a really good song. Like when "My All" came out, it was just objectively good, same feeling you got when Bieber released "Love Yourself". I know MC still got something up her sleeve. She already found a company that's willing to drop bank, which is 50% of the battle, now she just needs to deliver with an undeniably good song and a sharper marketing strategy. If she locks both in, that 20th number one isn't out of reach at all.

by Edward from USA

Bobby A, Mariah is a legacy artist, just like many others were when she was on her prime. MC16 will probably come and go like "Caution" did. No matter how many appearances she makes, it won't make much of a difference. To be fair, she was promoting consistently when TD came out and, lipped or not, she put on a great and energetic performance at Summertime Ball in the UK. Other than her legacy fans, meaning us, nobody is out there craving new music from her. Her streaming numbers are an indication of what's going on, 2.5M in a month after a 7-year hiatus. As I stated before, unless she comes out with a banger featuring a big name like Bruno Mars, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Ariana Grande, Sabrina Carpenter or Taylor Swift, don't expect chart success. Always remember though that chart success does not necessarily a great album make. Enjoy the music. Winter is coming.

I wasn't aware of that, what a shame. The fact that Madonna, also signed to WB, was allowed to co-write while Mariah wasn't initially given that same allowance is absurd, almost blasphemous. I recall reading or hearing that Mariah's signing came down to a bidding war: Warner reportedly offered around $100K, and Sony countered with $300K, ultimately securing the deal. My numbers might be a little inaccurate, but it was something in that ballpark.

The reason Mariah didn't sign with Warners was because they would not let her write her own material. So she would have been another Whitney or Celine, with songs provided and selected for her, and she merely interpret them as a singer.

I will give him credit because if he didn't put in effort early on, Mariah probably wouldn't have kids right now. Initially, he was actually a solid match. He just started pursuing his academics and felt Mariah "couldn't keep up" and that the relationship was "stagnant". He most likely stumbled upon ideas about African chiefs who were genetically gifted and were allowed to procreate with anyone to produce strong children and strengthen the tribe. He clearly thinks it's him since he modeled his whole life after it, and tries to justify it because it was a "norm" back then. He now realizes it's the wrong idea to aspire to since he's been caught on record saying Mariah was the greatest and wishes he could have it all back. It's such a shame. It's way too late. All that so-called education he pursued just landed him into a being well-read idiot.

I tend to think the opposite, I don't think Nick was a good match for Mariah. Yes initially of course they had that sexual tension and the playful romance but I think Nick didn't respect Mariah's boundaries. She is quite private yet he outed her phone number when she was pregnant, told people they make love to "Hero" and get blabbering about their personal life. It's also clear he gave Mariah reasons to believe he wasn't faithful because in the Barbara Walters interview Mariah already seemed checked out and says she trusts him "sometimes". And then we got MIAM which provided another side of how she was very lonely in the marriage, how he used her for fame and all that.

True. I always believed Nick is a godsend and actually did the impossible. She meant every word of that song. By 39, MC had probably already given up on starting a family. Her biological clock was basically out, and she'd lost trust in all men. But somehow, Nick broke through the cracks and not only earned her trust but reinvigorated her desire for family. They pursued having children together on a tight deadline (basically her last chance) and actually achieved it.
Even though, I resent Nick for being too deep into all the academia ideologies which then led him off the beaten path of fathering fatherless homes. I still am thankful he was instrumental for MC being a mother. He came just at the right time. I felt it extended Mariah's life.
I'll never forget what MC wrote about Roc and Roe, "Of all the many gifts God has blessed me with: my voice, my creativity, my strength - my children are a vision more beautiful than I could have ever conceived". She considers them on par with her God-given talents, which is so deeply beautiful.

- Mariah is not one person, but actually several persons playing the role of Mariah. Therefore, accounting for the extreme variations in appearance, personality and voice quality over the years and during short periods of time. - She is actually not a diva at all. But a pretty ordinary old soul at heart, just making up the diva persona to try to be interesting because at her heart she's a grounded, traditional, old school, values-driven, every day Long Island girl. - At the time, Tommy and Walter were the best darn things that she could ever imagine would (or that did) happen to her life and career. At the time. - The hurt that Nick Cannon has caused her with his 12 children and all the brief "interlude" relationships Mariah has had, hurt her far, far more than Tommy really ever did. - It would not have been such a bad life to stay at "Sing, Sing" and travel down that path. Not the life she wanted for herself, admittedly, but not a bad life in and of itself. - She has a great deal of regret for how things were left with her sister and even her mom and she knows in her heart that will never be resolved in this lifetime. An authentic sorrow she will harbor for the rest of her time. - She isn't sure what MC 16 will really be. Some are saying its great, some not so much. She's happy to have public interest in her music other than just at Christmas time and doesn't really know why that interest ever went away. She doesn't have many expectations of it and will truly be fascinated to see if it can even do anything commercially at all. She thought she said good-bye with "Portrait" but maybe she will be saying good-bye with how she really thinks of things now, with "Going up Yonder". - Anderson is nothing but a moment. She knows she will always be OHOHO.

My other what if is, "what if Mariah didn't end up with Tommy?" like what if Warner Brothers ended up winning the bid and signing Mariah? I wonder how much this would have changed the trajectory of her whole entire career.

Yes, I always say Tommy wasn't good for her private life, but for the music and for the business he was the best. He knew what he was doing, the years from the debut to 96 are the reason why she's the legend since late 90ies.

Unpopular opinion - alternate universe (109,692)

But Mariah will not be able to pursue having 4 kids at 47. Having Roc and Roe at 42 was already a freaking miracle. I feel that was the absolute limit. These are super fun though. Very creative.

Unpopular opinion - alternate universe (109,687)
by Rashidi Rahim Rick from Malaysia

2008: Mariah never married Nick in 2008. Roc and Roe never happened to Mariah. Because of marriage never happened, Mariah continues promoting E=MC2 and released Migrate as second single and became her 19th No 1.
2009: Mariah released her album Imperfect Angel and the second single after Obsessed is 100% and the song is the theme song for Precious and became her 20th No 1.
2010: Mariah received her first Oscar award for Best Original Song and even performed the song 100% and ended with standing ovation from the audience.
2011: Mariah performed her world tour to celebrate all her 20 No 1 songs.
2012: Mariah became a judge in American Idol where the 3 panel of judges were Randy, Mariah and Keith. No drama whatsoever among the judges for this.
2013: Mariah released her album The Art Of Letting Go (the original tracklist) and #Beautiful became her 21th No 1. Mariah also released You Don't Know What To Do as second single and the song became her 22nd No 1 song on Hot 100.
2014: Mariah released Out Here On My Own as the third single from the album and this song became Mariah's hit for power ballad that reminded the public of Mariah from the 90's. This song tops the chart as her 23rd No 1. I always felt this song should be in The Art Of Letting Go album because it fits the theme of old school of R&B sound.
2015: Mariah released her album Dedicated (all new songs recorded just like in Me I Am Mariah) and the summer single Thirsty became her 24th No 1. The concept of the video is from Mariah's Game of War commercial in 2015 where Mariah is one of the princess warriors. The video is comedy style like Touch My Body. The video is funded by that game company too. The second single is Cool On You and became her 25th No 1.
2016: Mariah married Derek Jeter and have 4 kids with him. Just like Derek's life now in this universe.
2018: Mariah released "Proceed With Caution" album. Mariah had said, I forgot which interview, that she thought of naming this album as this. A No No is the leading single and it became her 26th No 1.
2019: All I Want For Christmas became her 27th No 1.
2020: Covid happened. End.
Mariah sealed her career with 27th No 1 as 27 is her favorite number, her birth date.

1. Mariah's left side was actually bad. It's only now that she fixed her crooked teeth that it's not bothersome.
2. Long Ago, Fly Away (Butterfly Reprise) ruined the albums they're in.
3. Fly Like A Bird should've been sung in full voice.
4. Majority of Rarities was rightfully scrapped with the exception of Slipping Away and One Night.
5. I Don't Wanna Cry and Someday were mid and weren't deserving of #1.
6. However, "Breakdown" "Underneath The Stars", "Never Too Far" "Through The Rain", "Mine Again", "Migrate", "Love Story (if made acoustic)", "It's A Wrap", "Inseparable", "A No No" all had the potential to be major hits or at least be more relevant when ever her catalogue is brought up.
7. Lambs are unhinged but in a loving crazy way.

Fantasy vs. Honey (109,651)
by Lambi from USA

I agree that Fantasy vs. Dreamlover is the more formidable competition. Fantasy would probably win though, simply because it had a greater impact, she essentially mainstreamed pop and hip-hop. Arguably, this is Mariah's greatest contribution to music outside of Christmas since all the pop girlies followed the blueprint shortly after.
A good comparison would also be Dreamlover and Heartbreaker, "dreamlover, come rescue me" parallels "heartbreaker, you got the best of me". They're melodically similar.

Fantasy vs. Honey (109,640)

The real competition would be Dreamlover vs Fantasy. Both song top the Hot 100 chart for 8 weeks. Both song are equals in terms of success. Honey real contender is Heartbreaker. Though both songs top the chart too but just for a couple of weeks. Too bad Loverboy cannot sit on the table with them. Maybe if they released Loverboy Firecracker version instead.

I Stay In Love (109,650)

I Stay In Love would honestly have been huge with better instrumentation. That repetitive, dizzying, synthesized sound ruined it. The reason why the masses ate up WBT is because of its simplicity. Just vocals, piano and perfectly crafted snares and bass.

Ok so I was scrolling TikTok and I randomly happened up a snippet of ISIL and I don't know why that song was so hated, it's actually pretty nice and very classic Mariah. I know it was put in the trash can as a WBT dupe but I think it's a decent song with a great beat. Anyways just my two cents, justice for ISIL.

One Heart, One Voice (109,590)
by Lambi from USA

Thankfully, my name's already short and no, I've never had any beef with anyone named Eric. I've called out the webmaster in the past for butchering my statements and unknowingly taking me out of context, but that's just the journalist in me. To his credit though, he's gotten way better since then.
I've also spoken up about bias and the lack of space for people to defend themselves. That kind of atmosphere is why people end up leaving. It might be just a fan site, but it parallels how people leave countries like China, Russia, and Iran over free speech issues. The stakes are obviously different, but essentially the principle is the same. I felt it's an important issue to be aware of before completely pushing a lot of lambs away.
At the core though, we all just love MC passionately. Most conflicts eventually blow over. I've buried the hatchet with you by the way, lamb. Hope you have a great day.

Eric is the webmaster, my dear. Proceed with extreme "Caution". The last person who crossed him woke up in Indiana with no memory of how they got there. Others, like Bobby A, weren’t so lucky, they came back with shorter names.
