About Tevin from USA: A laid back guy that loves Mariah!

Re: Bipolar and vocal issues (85,650) (85,655) by Tevin from USA
Lexing, I agree. I've seen a thyroid issue almost completely destroy my aunt's beautiful voice. It's sad how stuff can turn out. But it still doesn't change the fact that Mariah could probably still make life choice changes to improve her voice (put the wine down Mariah), especially when we are working and forking over money to see her actually sing.

It seems like everyone likes this song. What's the chances this will be released as the next official single? We need a video pronto.

It's great to see the love A No No is getting. I'm sitting here curious to hear Randy and Andrew's opinion.

Loving this era (85,493) by Tevin from USA
I'm loving how her team is handling this album release. Success or no success at least they are trying and doing things more out of the box.

Here's the thing, I love Mariah like we all do. But you can't deny that Mariah was a studio made machine or should I say an industry made machine. The only difference was Mariah used to be able to back her vocal ability up, even surpass them at times singing live. Here's why it's been a sham: Like mostly all singers what they lay down in the studio is perfection, at least based off their own vocals because of digital editing and auto tune ect. It's like the model in magazines that you see them on a cover, but you see them in person, and they still look good but they usually look normal because you can't edit them in real life lol. Any singer, Mariah included, could piece meal a track together. Mariah was just able to replicate it live. Sony messed her up because they dubbed to kingdom come a lot of Mariah's performances. Shoot even (which I was a bit disappointed) songs on MTV unplugged was song three times and dubbed together. Not saying she sounded bad, I fact a lot of her undubbed performances I think she sounds better and more natural in. The problem is the fact that it created a perfect performance from a perfect performer for the general public (who may not have went to her concert) especially since up until 2003 Mariah didn't do long concert stints like most Artist. Cue the tin foil hats: My theory is that even though we all know Mariah had vocal troubles in 97, its interesting to see that her live performances started showing flaws, like they weren't dubbed to perfection like earlier ones, did not having Tommy's backing anymore contribute to this? Without YouTube like today most people here in the US when not have heard a few performances where she was sick or having vocal trouble like her performance of emotions in Milan in 91 I believe. Ok back to reality. Basically what I'm saying is, if we had the technology like cell phones and YouTube back then. Mariah still would have been amazing and still lauded as (to me) the best vocalist ever, but her singing would have been more real. (Listen to the 95 hero at MSG undubbed, vs the dubbed version, when they made the climax with her airy voice, which she didn't fully perfect till a year later). Not saying it was her fault, mostly Sony's, but later on 97+ she was forced to keep up this "perfect" singing image even when having vocal troubles and not taking proper care of her voice anymore. To me the most real vocal eras we had was Mariah Carey, Emotions and Daydream. So let me make it clear, I'm not in anyway denying or taking away Mariah's credits or her vocal abilities, they are or at least were there. It's just I feel bad that it seems like she became a victim of perfect vocal perfection that Tommy and Sony wanted to create and did, and when she didn't have there backing anymore she had to find a way to keep up the facade with smoke and mirrors. But I still love her and can't wait to see her in Detroit. Like RJ said, she still has or had the best voice that I have ever heard. Whitney and Celine could impress me and blow me away, but Mariah's is the only voice that could make me teary and cry.

Please read, why I love Mariah (85,130) by Tevin from USA
So it's been a pretty stressful year for my family, with a couple bad things happening. Anyway I literally walk into the house and my dad has With You blasting, my moms holding and dancing with my newborn cousin, my brother listening and smiling, I immediately grab my little 4 year old sis and start dancing. See this is why I can never give up on Mariah. Literally the last few weeks have been stressful some arguing. But for that moment we forget all our stresses and anxieties and focus on the music. Only Mariah can do this. Thank you Mariah if you ever read this you're one of the things that we bond over in my family. From me riding in a car seat listening to ABMB and OSD to belting out WBT with my mom and dad, to taking a moment out of our stressful few months and helping us realize why we love each other and share a common bond. I love you Miss Mariah Carey.

Hey Andrew, I'm curious what would be your ideal roll out or vision of Mariah's new album??

Re: The Distance (85,055) (85,070) by Tevin from USA
I finally was able to hear the entire song. I love it 9 out of 10. The only thing I wished was different is, after Ty's rap verse, I wish Mariah resung the "dark days cold nights, late October" part, that part is so catchy and it would have helped the song flow better instead of jumping right to the climax. Anyway I'm really looking forward to this CD and era. Even if it's not a success (which I hope it will be) it's still refreshing to see a different Mariah. She listens to us, most of the songs are made with new or hot producers, the CD will only be 10 to 12 songs long. Good rollout and team behind her. Now she has to do what she does best and sing. The record company better promote this. Also can she release Migrate as a single? Lol.

Hello Tim: The Distance (85,050) by Tevin from USA
I love it. Only heard 20 seconds clip and it's already stuck in my head, my workmates are tired of me humming the same tune lol. If you would have told me one day Mariah would be working with skrillex, I would have laughed and said yeah right. This is hot. Also welcome Timothy.

One question, with all of Mariah's tours/Christmas stuff, I'm trying to figure out how she is going to be able to properly promote this.

Album cover (84,956) by Tevin from USA
I just presaved the album. The album cover has been revealed and I love it. It's simple, not photoshopped, it goes perfectly with the album title. The girls are out but tamed. I love it.

On a side note what's with all the good girl gone bad music vibe now lol. Taylor, Mariah (it seems, have to wait until the album) and a few others. It's great.

Does anyone know how many presales or saves it takes to show the full album cover? I'm curious. 1,000, 10,000, 100,000?

Can everyone please take a moment to read this (84,714) by Tevin from USA
Every once in a while I like to make a post on here, I believe that I'm in the moderate group with my messages. I like to stay optimistic like many of you who post on here, but I also am not afraid to say when I'm disappointed.

I am not happy with the AMA performance (for reasons that most people already mentioned) but like Randy, I am satisfied with Mariah's AMA performance. She did what she needed to do, with almost no public backlash.

Now here comes the bad part: I'm on Team Andrew. Though I don't always agree with his delivery of a message, for me and others on this board I believe he is saying what's in a lot of our hearts. We all love Mariah here, but we all know she can do better, whether it's just moving and interacting with the crowd more like at iHeart ABMB performance or working on her voice or public image.

I don't expect her to sound like the 90s heck not even 2005. But I, like most people watch the award shows to see people perform like Taylor, JLo, but I also watch to see people with talent sing, like Mariah and Adele.

What I'm getting at is this. If Mariah wants to retire or live off the gravy train then so be it. But if she keeps pretending like she wants to have another hit or great album and she keeps performing like this, then she is doing more of a disservice to herself. I'm happy to support her in whatever she decides but, it's sad when others (look on YouTube) can sing songs like ILT and Hero better than Mariah. I don't mean by tone but I mean being able to have the stamina, stay in key and not lip a single note while sounding good. The point is Mariah's voice is damaged, bad, but she can still do wonders with it, but she has to take steps to stop or prevent more damage, such as stop drinking alcohol before your performances and other things.

You might say "she can do whatever she wants, she earned it". That's fine and fair, but then Mariah shouldn't feel bad when she sings and her voice sounds the way it does lately when she actually sings live, and when she gets called out for it by fans and the public.

Final point, everyone who says they don't understand why the haters keep coming back to post on here when Mariah is going to do whatever she wants. I would ask you to look in the mirror. Ask yourself why do you keep reading and coming back to comments from people like Andrew, when you know his stance on most things?

So webmaster sorry for the long rant. But I feel you should continue to let people like Andrew post on here, it adds a nice balance, and we are all adults here, we can skip post if we want, we are not forced to read them.

Take care everyone, and I love feedback, can you tell me if you agree or disagree with what I'm saying. Thanks

Re: iHeart radio: Mariah whistles (83,955) (83,976) by Tevin from USA
The Breakfast Club radio people along with others they interviewed, kept saying how they wanted to see Mariah the most. The crazy part is the fact that it seems like the only people that don't want to see Mariah is her "fans".

Your thoughts (83,949) by Tevin from USA
Webmaster, what was your thoughts on the performance? Horrible, like Andrew believes, decent, like most people have said, or great, like almost everyone on social media, YouTube, the internet has been saying? For me it wasn't perfect but it got the job done. Reintroduce Mariah to the public and younger crowd and prove that she can still sing even her voice is only half of what it was in her prime.

Re: iHeartRadio performance (83,930) (83,941) by Tevin from USA
They play ABMB a lot, other than and AIWFC, nothing else really. I have to listen to R&B or Urban stations to hear other songs. Surprisingly though when YME came out they played that quite a bit for a month even though it was a slow ballad and not a hit.

Re: iHeart (83,924) (83,926) by Tevin from USA
I agree. We know the parts she lipped, the parts she song with the backtrack, but she sang pretty good and live for most of the entire performance minus a few notes and climax parts. I thought GTFO was a bit of a mess, but it was her first time performing this live.
But ABMB, was awesome. The crowd was feeling it. She walked a long way by herself lol, and the start talking to the crowd in the black coat reminded me of her Daydream concert. I was so proud of her. So far minus the usual small number of haters, she is getting great words and reviews from everyone.
Now here comes my fan opinion. 10-10 because I can't remember a live performance yet along a short concert set in front of a live crowd where she put together a good solid performance. 8-10 for me personally, Mariah miss and lows sounded good but she has got to work on or retrain herself to be able to belt and not shout.
Now I wish I would have went to Vegas.

iHeart (83,916) by Tevin from USA
So I'm currently watching the live stream for iHeart, and it's nice they keep mentioning Mariah and how they're looking forward to her signing, but they keep talking about all her diva moments. I'm like great here we go again.

Re: Ariana Grande - Sweetener (83,405) (83,414) by Tevin from USA
Sweetener, should be called Aspartame. Sweet and light at first, but lacking major depth and substance. I love Ariana and still like it or not she is the closest thing (not close, or even on the same level) but closest thing to Mariah in the popular music business right now. My problem with Ariana is that if you listen to her 4 albums, they all sound like they were written for a different artist, sure she has a wonderful voice but other than her first album and some of bad women, there is no depth and consistency.
Anyway I'm just going to sit here with my "Sweetener", and wait until Mariah brings the tea with her new album. Anybody else care to join?

Re: New album collabs (83,269) (83,270) by Tevin from USA
So it's a little off topic, but I would love to hear Mariah record the song, How Could an Angel Break My Heart, by Toni Braxton and Kenny G. She could have Toni record it again with her. That song fits in Mariah range, it's full of soul and emotions, it has that 90s sound to it, but with some updated sound it can easily sound perfect for a ballad in 2018.
What do you all think? Have any of you heard that song before? Could Mariah do the song justice or should she stay clear away from that song?
