Mariah meeting (85,944) by CMC from NY,NY
Today I met Mariah and hung out with her for 29 minutes in an elevator before the taping of her TRL segment. It was a surprise for VIP fans. We were promised front row at the taping. My friend and I got tickets to attend the show and prior to taping MTV filmed us recording questions to present to Mariah. I turned to my friend and I said I feel like something else is about to happen. Soon after the elevator next to us we were waiting to go in opened and Mariah was in there, waiting and waving for us to come in with a huge smile. Obviously it was like a dream. She looked stunning, I was standing right next to her in the elevator the entire time. It was surreal. We talked about justice for Glitter and she said it was amazing what's happening and she was also so confused. She said it was a traumatic time for her. She was so adorable. She gave me a couple hugs and we blew air kisses. We chatted about the new album, my career as a hairstylist (I played with her hair). There were 3 songs that played so we were in there about 10 minutes. It's all for segments that may be in the upcoming MTV special or a digital ssequence. It was all a dream like fantasy. We had no phones during the entire day so caught some videos on Instagram when the elevator doors would open. There are some I posted in my story on Instagram @bunnzino. So excited for Caution. This era is beyond memorable for me. Oh and I can't even know what to say about Glitter being #1 on iTunes

Glitter reborn (85,943) by Gilles from Malta
I am happy that this album is getting a second live. She was too "avant garde" with the 80's in 2001 but let's don't forget the sad date of its release. Anyway we are all excited now. It is funny to know that on iTunes she is going to compete with herself.

Whatever, what an amazing promotion this year. She deserves it. I was so amazed with her last performances in Asia. Concerning the 4 Caution tracks I liked them all. Some preferences for GTFO and With You but The Distance and A No No are good as well. She worked on this album like she wanted for E=MC2 with the idea that each track would be a single (I think).

Anyway just wanted to wish to everyone a good listening party and moment for tomorrow. Happy Cautiion listening everybody.

Glitter revival (85,942) by Darryle from USA
I haven't posted on here in years, but I'm back, and I'd like to say I'm beyond surprised at Glitter's revival on the charts. It was really ahead of its time, and gets such a bad rap because the movie was less than stellar. However, the album is Mariah's most adventurous, and I'm glad it's getting the justice it deserves.

I haven't listened to A No, No yet. Waiting for the album to drop. I feel you regarding With You. That song is boring as hell and I am sorry but those vocals, ugh.

Re: "Glitter" (85,935) (85,937) by Licia from USA
I actually love The Distance and GTFO. With You just bores the hell out of me, but it's decent. A No No is the only one at the moment I can't get into. Yes Cha Cha is going to get taken out if I don't like these other six songs.

Re: Glitter revival (85,925) (85,936) by this_is_qhm from the Philippines
Great explanation. This is also somewhat an indirect effect of the success of A Star Is Born. Glitter's storyline is basically ASIB in an 80s outfit. The success of both the film and the soundtrack has got the public more open to singers crossing over to acting again, which has not seen success in a long time because such projects were deemed self-indulgent for quite a while (and most of the films that accompanied the soundtracks were just bad or meh, including Glitter, Burlesque). When most fans browse suggestions similar to ASIB, Glitter pops up. And since it has recharted, more of the public have become curious as to why a soundtrack album to one of the biggest and most tragic box office flops of all time from freaking 2001 is suddenly rising on the album charts. Now some are just buying it out of curiosity alone, because yes, some still do that in the digital age. And now it's in the top 10 and if it stays there for some time, it will likely spark renewed interest for the film and Mariah, and hopefully that interest also spills over to Caution when it gets released. The perfect commercial snowball effect. It's weirdly exciting.

Licia I agree. CB one of her best albums lyrically while Glitter had vocals. CB was always Butterfly Part II in my eyes as one was the inception of the whispery/airy vocals while the other was the peak of said vocal technique. I didn't care too much for Glitter, the ballads were nice but too poppy for me as my guess Billy was a pop artist in the movie. All My Life vocals in the movie were so good. Twister is such an emotional ballad and I always loved Loverboy. Licia, have any of the Caution songs grown on you or are you on strike as a lamb until the album is released? Lol. Is Cha cha going to get it if you don't like the album? Lol. I think Cha cha is a bad influence on Mariah's vocals. She isn't motherly as she tried to drown her pup. Add Chacha to the list of reasons for vocal issues. Lol.

New album (85,934) by Tijl from Belgium
Don't we all just feel terribly excited about the new release? When was the last time we all were anticipating a new MC album with this kind of vigeour? I wish Mariah a fantastic launch because our girl is still among the greatest.

Re: "Glitter" (85,929) (85,933) by Licia from USA
I'm so surprised they picked Glitter to revive, but they could not have picked a more awesome album. (Wait they could have CB anyone? Lol.) I mean the woman got Rick James to help on the album. Whereas CB had the lyrics, Glitter had vocals for days and some great lyrics for the original songs. Don't even get me started on those remakes. We didn't appreciate Glitter enough. I Glitter. See Enwar and Bill I like stuff. I like that whole album. Lol.

I have always loved Glitter (the album not the movie) and found it to be way before its time. This entire occasion must be quite enticing to MC with the launch of her new album. Credit where credit's due.

Bill don't call me out like that. I'm probably going to hate the last 6 songs for sure though.

I gave it a spin the other day without knowing about this countdown thing. Nothing tops If We. What a great song, don't blame J.Lo for stealing it lol. And those runs on Lead the Way have got to be some of the best she ever put down on a record. Great album. Sorry, "soundtrack" lol.

Totally hyped for the release of "Caution" but super excited with what's happening with "Glitter". I guess what goes around comes around. I was just bopping to the CD.

Re: Glitter revival (85,923) (85,925) by Will from England
It's because certain Mariah fan pages are doing a countdown to Caution, and encouraging fans to take part by streaming each album in celebration. Because Glitter can't be streamed, lambs have been buying it instead. It's an amazing show of what we as a fan base are capable of doing when working together. A soundtrack album that almost derailed her career, was panned by critics, was released 17 years ago is now in the top 10 (I believe) of the iTunes US chart.

Caution top 4 (85,924) by Bill from the UK
1. With You
2. A No No
3. The Distance
4. GTFO
But, I really do enjoy the top three equally. GTFO was a bit of a "meh" for me because it is, in my opinion, lazy songwriting. That said, really looking forward to the album on Friday and seeing everyone's thoughts on it. Especially how many tracks Licia hates haha.

Re: Glitter revival (85,902) (85,923) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Seriously, what is with this sudden Glitter revival?. Number 6 on USA iTunes, number 54 on Canadian iTunes. Merry Christmas is at 69 on USA iTunes and 73 on Canadian iTunes. Maybe because so many people overlooked Glitter for the amazing album it is back in the day, and the public is craving music that aren't the standard #1s and regular set-list she plays in concert. Maybe the Glitter revival is an indication of the general public being thirsty for new Mariah music?
