Sales/streams vs quality (88,662) by jaker20 from US
Mariah will never sell like she used to, and sales are down across the board anyway. Lambs used to complain that Mariah is all about charts, and now that she's giving us a good album they're still complaining. Not everyone needs a Cher-type comeback. As long as she's serving quality, I am happy. She is an artist after all. With her peaks behind her, she can focus on being the true artist she wants to be and solidify her status. Paul McCartney is still releasing albums regularly and they are acclaimed because he doesn't care about charts, and they all continue to to his legacy and that's what I want Mariah to chase in this next chapter of her career. I do hope Mariah gets a surprise hit somehow, I know they're around the corner one of these days. But that shouldn't be her focus anymore. I love the album and she got some of the best reviews of her career, and that's why I'm not too upset by it under-performing.

I'm sad to live in a world where Adam Levine has more pull than Mariah Carey.

Over it (88,660) by Gee from U.S.A. (New York City)
It's crazy how everyone is upset about something that was never in the works, MC only mentioned she would love to work with Cardi. She also said she would love remix A No No with Lil Kim since she sampled her song and she always loved Crush On You. Again even if the remix was going to happen Atlantic would have blocked Cardi from appearing on the song simply because a Jermaine Dupri production is not popping in 2019. Besides the artist themselves radio programmers and PD's pay attention to who the producer is that artist worked with. So honestly speaking the remix Jermaine had in mind was never gonna happen so can we move on now?

Re: 40 million on YouTube views for Caution (88,658) (88,659) by Webmaster Eric from the Netherlands
Well, you asked for it. I compared Caution to Charmbracelet and here are the results:

1) Charmbracelet sold over 3 million copies worldwide, Caution less than 200.000.

2) Charmbracelet had two (minor) hit singles: "Through The Rain" (a top 10 hit in 7 countries) and "Boy (I Need You)" (no. 17 in the UK). Caution had zero hit singles. According to Wikipedia, "With You" and "A No No" did not chart anywhere in the world ("With You" only reached top 10 on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, it did not enter the Hop 100).

So in comparison, Charmbracelet performed 15x better than Caution.

Re: 40 million on YouTube views for Caution (88,656) (88,658) by B from USA
This goal is not only reachable but realistic unlike expecting Mariah to top the Hot 100 at this stage in her career. Members of this board like to dismiss With You's success at Adult Contemporary and R&B radio but I think at this stage in her career scoring her biggest hit at those formats since Fly Like A Bird is a respectable feat, one she didn't accomplish any of the singles from Charmbracelet. I think this era shouldn't be compared to TEOM era but the Charmbracelet era. We need to readjust our expectations. Mariah only said she would love to work with Cardi and Kim not that she was going to. JD's egotistical tweets set this remix up for failure. Yes, the remix is bad but it doesn't retroactively make the album version bad.

One shitty remix doesn't change how I feel about the album or era. Say what you want about the remix but Mariah delivered on the album.

40 million on YouTube views for Caution (88,656) by T from USA
I hope she can get 40 million views with Caution album on YouTube. It would be pretty respectable if after the era ends (by the end of the world tour) if she has these stats:

- GTFO music video: 10 million
- With You music video: 10 million
- A No No music video: 10 million
- A No No audio video: 2 million
- A No No lyric video: 1 million
- Caution audio video: 1 million
- The Distance lyric video: 1 million
- Giving Me Life audio video: 1 million
- One Mo' Gen audio video: 1 million
- 8th Grade audio video: 1 million
- Stay Long Love audio video: 1 million
- Portrait audio video: 1 million

A few of these goals she's already reached, the others are very close. Right now she sits at around 25 million views for Caution.

This is Mariah (88,655) by Andrew from London, UK
It is not a bloody remix. It's as much of a remix as WYC with Brian McKnight. I think you all have to accept that Mariah will never care about her music launches again. She makes a few songs every few years, but tours with fake vocals to milk her legacy until the voice packs up. What we want and expect and debate is not what she is capable of giving. This is Mariah without massive record producers pushing her. She was only ever so big and so grounded as those who helped her.

I'll take your word for it. Honestly I haven't even listened to it and I couldn't care less. It's not my career or life so I'll take the good and enjoy what I can. I was happy with with original and video regardless if it charts or not. I love the album, enjoyed the concert and I like the videos. Lucky me.

Sorry everyone but the remix is awful. The Def Club Mix of Dreamlover just wept.

The link didn't get posted, but you can easily Google it. It's been in recent Packer news. The Hollywood Reporter has an in depth story.

Ugh, that Jeezy Beautiful remix was abysmal. Beautiful was a song she should have let go the course, before interrupting it with a wack remix and a terrible live performance on BET, that and her video injury was the beginning of the downfall IMO. Mimi often does too much, too fast and things fall apart This time she may have tried to slow things down, but lost momentum with a Christmas tour immediately after release of new music. It's a good time to soon focus on just the lyrics, the voice, the Mariah.

Ugh, here's a nasty little story involving Packer, Brett Rather and an "actress", among others. Mimi sure involved herself with an unsavory bunch of snakes since her divorce. Eww. Hollyweird.

Re: The remix we all wanted (88,639) (88,647) by Matty from Vancouver Canada
Yessss. That is absolutely the remix we were hoping for. Actually remixing Mariah's vocals so it's a switch up form the album version and all. I realized the part of the Don remix that irks me the most is how when Mariah sings "I said..." right before Don raps, Mariah sounds so abrupt cut off. The "I said" isn't a smooth transition to the rap verse at all, the way the lead-in is (I think) intended to be. If the "I said" were sung and the note was held over Don's first line, "Trippin' on 'dis saint, never been a clown", it might actually sound like MC introducing Don to the song, rather then Don just suddenly cutting in. Seeing how well done this fan remix was crafted over the official remix annoys me. Doing an amazing remix in 2019, for a talented mixer in their basement, is not an unattainable feat. They didn't even have to pay this fan to remix it and look how much better it is.

Re: The remix (88,636) (88,646) by Marissa from USA
I think being "too busy" was code for "this opportunity isn't paying enough for me to make time". Cardi is very vocal about trying to make as much money as she can while she's hot because she knows it won't last forever. I think lambs have to accept that Mariah doesn't have as much pull as she used to because her music doesn't chart significantly anymore and this remix hide and go seek situation was a pretty blatant wake up call to that. There is no way I believe Missy, Kim and Cardi all mysteriously "didn't have time". It's a small verse for a remix, not filming a movie together. The money probably just wasn't enough for them compared to other opportunities they had at the time or they may not have had faith that it would chart high enough. Opportunity cost is real, whether you're dealing with a legend or not. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Why is Merry Christmas not certified diamond yet? (88,641) (88,645) by jaker20 from US
It's not accurate and so is a lot of early pre-2000s artists. A lot of Mariah's records are under-certified and so is Janet Jackson and most likely Madonna too. The labels probably don't care and they only will if the artist is being honored or have something to cross-promote with them. I would not trust Wikipedia either. I mean, did you see their best-selling artists ever? They are combining singles with albums to singles ales. So an album with a dozen tracks counts as one. What a joke.

MC used to be the queen of remixes and re-sung vocals. I am so disappointed with this so called remix. A No No will be the last single from Caution. The next MC album will 2023 or a John Legend duets album for the Lambily.

Re: Another excuse (88,630) (88,642) by Licia from USA
That's very true. She followed the Billboard rules and still came up with a stellar remix for #Beautiful the 2nd go round. The Jeezy #Beautiful remix gave me hope for the future because that ASAP Rocky mix angered me. Deep down I knew that the A No No remix was going to be a copy/paste situation, but I was hoping that they actually created a remix. Needless to say the remix did not help me like the song. It's still meh to me.

"A No No remix" is fake news (88,638) by Special K from USA
Why are they calling this a remix? Ain't nothing "remixed" about this song. All they did was copy and paste Stefflon's 16 bars. Really it should be called A No No featuring Stefflon Don. I love Stefflon Don. She a nasty girl, lol. I prefer her over Cardi B anyday. Cardi can't even rap. She whack as hell.
