Pop superstar Mariah Carey is in talks to create her own greetings card range. The Hero singer is directing and starring in a Christmas-themed TV movie for America's Hallmark Channel, and the company is sponsoring several of her concerts over the festive season.
She is also set to ride on the Hallmark float during the annual MACy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City on 26 November, and now bosses at the company are looking to expand their work with Mariah. Bill Abbott, Chief Executive of Hallmark's parent company Crown Media, has revealed they are hoping Mariah will soon be able to design her own range for the company's iconic cards brand. "She's synonymous with Christmas," he tells the New York Post. "She does so much for our brand, and we are doing the same for her. We're looking at future projects like greetings cards."
Mariah will kick off the U.S. holiday season by leading the annual parade through the streets of the Big Apple, and other stars taking part include Jordin Sparks, Panic! At the Disco, Train, Trey Songz, Daughtry and Questlove. Her festive film, A Christmas Melody, is due to air in December, and she is also releasing a children's book and a make-up line for MAC inspired by her hit holiday song All I Want For Christmas Is You.
Mariah is slated to perform a run of festive concerts at New York's Beacon Theatre next month - the residency kicks off on 8 December and runs until 18 December. The superstar completed a Christmas residency at the same venue last year, but hit headlines as the first show of the run was blighted by technical problems. She suffered issues with her earpiece and mic pack which left her floundering as she tried to keep in time with the music and struggling to hit her famous high notes.
