Performances/setlist (37,043)
by Licia from USA

I'm so happy that she got through all three of those performances and she did a great job. As far as her set list, if she would have only performed her 18 number singles then everybody would be upset, because she didn't do a song that wasn't a number 1 single. It's a no win situation. It's hard for me choose one of her songs to listen to. I can't imagine how hard it is to pick out a list of 15 songs spanning a 20+ year career. She can't please everybody.

Australia performance (37,017)
by Licia from USA

Oh how I wish I had been in Australia lol. She sounded really good from the videos that I saw. I hope she sounds just as good on the next two shows. As another member has said before, her performances from the last few years have not always been consistent and although I don't expect her to be perfect all the time, I would like her to be able to blow out these last two performances to shut some people up. The kids are uber cute and that Monroe is going to be something else. She was not afraid to speak. Lol. Congrats on the 15 years MCA. Keep up the good work.

I believe had she covered up, they still would have found something negative to say. They did it in the 90s when her voice was in top form and she was always covered up. I think that's why she just does what she wants to do. She's going to get some kind of backlash either way.

I agree. She's been had those bad boys out for many years now. Get over already. She obviously doesn't care what anyone says, because she continues to dress how she wants. I don't always like to see her boobs out, but she's grown and I choose to focus on her performance and voice. Lets talk about how she completely murdered Christmas Time Is In The Air Again and gave us a reminder that she still has it.

Nicki/Christmas tree lighting (36,837)
by Licia from USA
| |
|
|
I have been trying to ignore the Nicki debacle, but I can't. This is a classic case of when twitter ranting goes wrong. Girl shut it. I'm a black woman and I found nothing in Steven's statement racist. You can't go around calling racism every time someone criticizes you or because you didn't seem to get what they meant. She needs to read and comprehend what he was trying to convey with the Bob Dylan reference. What he said is true, AI is supposed to be about the contestants. Not Mariah or Nicki. On a happier note, I can't wait to see the Christmas tree lighting performance. Although I am a Scrooge when it comes to spending my money on gifts, the Christmas music makes me happy. Lol.

Nick/Halo Awards (36,783)
by Licia from USA

I love how Mariah and Nick support each other. Many fans don't like him , but he seems to make her happy. I have to give Nick props for all the Halo awards. I'm sure all the recipients are very happy to have all their hard work acknowledged. People don't give Nick enough credit for all the good things that he tries to do.

I got that feeling too from her tweet that she sent him, but I hope she realizes that some of her fans really needed to hear that song. I never lost faith in her, but alot of her fans have. JD in a way helped restore some of her fans faith.

Did she bring it on home ? (36,687)

Yes she did. This is why I never give up on her or get extra mad when she puts out something I don't like. She always finds some way to bring me back. Although I don't want an album full of ballads (ala Music Box, second least fav album), I hope she can put a few gems like this on there.

Geezy/Will/Diva antics (36,654)
by Licia from USA
| |
|
|
I agree with all of what Geezy said. I have never cared about who she worked with, whether she went with pop or rnb, or if she is number 1 all the time. I just want great music. Will, I remember when everyone was whining about too much JD. I think their chemistry in the studio is phenomenal and his shoutouts don't bother me when there is a great song. I must be the only one who thinks her diva antics are hilarious. I never take it seriously and I think she does it to be funny. People are always saying she's one, so she gives them a reason to call her a diva. *Kanye shrug* lol

Placing blame (36,637)
by Licia from USA
| |
|
|
Nick cannon is in Mariah's career because she wants him to be a part of it. With all that she went through with TM, I doubt he's making her do anything that she doesn't want to. Everybody wants to point fingers and place blame when stuff doesn't go a certain way, but sometimes it just doesn't work out. At the end of the day Mariah has the final say so on what goes on. Love Nick or hate him, she wanted him to help. Also there's no way to know whether or not E=MC2 would have done any better with different single choices. Just because we as fans like a song, that doesn't mean the general public will like it. Now and days she has to please the general public as well if she wants to get those number ones you all keep chasing.

I was so ticked off when they switched the single choice from The One to Boy. I like Boy, but The One is high on my list of favorites from CB. I can't say rather one would have done better than the other. The One was a better choice for me.

The new album (36,572)
by Licia from USA
| |
|
|
Throughout her whole career I never paid much attention to who produced the music or who helped write the music. All I care about is that the music is good. I'm not fond of The Dream and with the exception of a few songs, Memoirs has never been a fav of mine, but The Dream has made some good songs with Mariah. I hope that they can make a good song or two. I'm not going to get upset with her working with him again until I hear what they come up with. They may surprise us and come up with something great.

I think Desiree just wants to ruffle ya'll feathers a bit. Every site has that one person who goes from site to site saying how much they think this person is better than so and so. Yet they keep going to the site of the person they dislike. Just laugh and pay her no mind. Lol.

Whitney/Mariah/Nattalie (36,471)
by Licia from USA
| |

Throughout the years I never really got the comparison. Besides the belting, they have very difference voices. I'm no singer or vocal coach, so I can't describe the differences in technical terms, but I know I hear two different types of voices when I listen to Mariah and Whitney. People got so caught up in this "she's the next Whitney" crap that they never really listened to how different they are as singers. Both of them were/are great within their own lane. Nattalie, I feel you on all that you said lol.

I don't believe anyone thinks that Mariah is perfect or doesn't do anything wrong. I said it once before, I believe Mariah may have provoked the situation and depending on what she said she may have been in the wrong, but Nicki handled the whole situation in the wrong way. She didn't embarrass Mariah at all. She made herself look like a fool with the way she behaved. She has every right to defend herself, but this could have been hashed out behind closed doors away from cameras and the contestants. That type of behavior on a job is unacceptable, no matter who said what.

I must be the only person who finds that funny. I laughed my butt off when I saw those pics. Everyone knows Mariah can be over the top. She knows she can be over the top. Lol. I never take things like that seriously because I think she does it to get a reaction and to poke fun.

Publicity stunt (36,426)
by Licia from USA
| |

I agree with Will. Nicki is a fool if she is willing to take all this backlash for ratings. She's already disliked. Why would she make it worse for herself? I'm going to be real upset if I find out that this is a stunt though. Lol. I also agree about the songwriting and producing. Of course we know all that she is capable of, but for whatever reason it's important for her to make sure the world knows what she is capable of. I agree that she should not have to prove herself anymore, but she has always had to go that extra mile to prove herself, even when she was at her very best.

If Mariah said something out of line, then she was wrong and I do believe she said something, but Nicki handled the situation badly. She made herself look really bad with all the cursing and yelling. She could have defended herself like an adult, but instead she threw a tantrum and she made herself look like a fool.

I agree about Love Letter. For me, it will just be cool to hear what direction they will go in. Both of them can write and sing the mess out of a love song or an inspirational song, but it will be nice to hear a grown and sexy song from MC ala R. Kelly style. Whatever they are doing better make the final cut or I'm going to be mad. Lol.

Lyric/Nicki (36,348)
by Licia from USA

I read somewhere that they picked Nicki because she represents urban music. Um no she doesn't. She's a popular gimmick right now that AI wanted to appeal to the younger crowd plain and simple. Names like Diddy, Pharrel Williams, Toni Braxton, and Kanye were thrown out and the best they could do was her? I understand why they picked her, but I don't like it.
